@Weirdo here's why I like Arianne: very smart, capable wife our age who comes with Westeros support (Dorne support isn't guaranteed since Aegon is around, this nips that in the bud) who is guaranteed to be loyal and helpful (since word of god aka word of magoose says at least one of the girls is an assassin planning to kill us but that Arianne isn't). She comes with all the sand snakes to be Dany's ladies in waiting which means a whole group of talented capable subordinates. It also eases dornes demands for vengeance on Lannisters/etc since we're giving them something else and we did promise Jaime to show leniency to Cersei. Also, Arianne is also just a fun person.

[x]The True Valyrian: The woman swayed into your sight, and damn near dominated your attention. She demanded it, and you were oh, so interested in that great mystery.

Mostly because this is the most time sensitive, I think. Everyone else is damn well going in the same direction as us. I will continue to be Essos-centric in my decisions even if we are about to kick Westeros's teeth in.

I want to see the Freehold reborn, with Westeros as but a piece of a broader coalition. The pieces vying against, or with, one another but within rules of conduct such as you see between the perpetually warring Three Daughters. Dragons as a rarely used hammer of last resort, the ultimate in 'don't make me come over there'.

There are a great many evils in the world too great to purge in one lifetime, not without burning the world clean, but we can shepherd them.

And, if we live to grow old, I hope to see the first true colony upon the Valyrian Peninsula. No less dangerous than one in Sothoryos' Yeen, yes, but one that promises glory and wealth to those who can live to claim it.

We need ties to the east. Powerful ones. Swooping into Volantis as the king of dragons opened the door but that opportunity will fade if we don't seize it.

Maybe we just read it differently, but I've read it as Dorne is our strongest supporter in Westeros except for the Iron Isles, they rolled highest, higher than the North. The thing with Aegon I thought was resolved? He pledged his support for us 2 updates ago, so that is already nipped in the bud. So, I think Dorne's loyalty is pretty much guaranteed

On the loyalty thing, the Valyrian is unlikely to be an assassin, if she was then they wouldn't be demanding conversion in order to speak, they'd want us to really want to pick her. So, I think it's not too much of a problem for us here, at least when comparing these 2 as marriage possibilities.

On the Sand Snakes, I don't really know their capabilities, so I don't know how useful they are, and so can't really evaluate them. They sound like spies + body guards, which are useful, but I just don't know if it's worth not getting the political support of a new person. But, special units, if in large enough quantities and we'll trained enough is a fair enough reason to take a marriage candidate.

On the Lannister issue, couldn't we let them take out their anger on Tywin and others in their province? In order to give leniency to Cersei, we offer up harsher punishments to people like Tywin Lannister and some other people important in Westeros politics, but that we don't care about

Given that so much of canon has already changed it isn't impossible that what we know of the Sand Snakes from canon may also have changed. They've at least had Asha Greyjoy fostered there which may have butterflied things or may not have. And while the Sand Snakes were as far as I can tell fan favorites- I myself liked them quite a bit- their success rate is...debatable.

I was under the impression that Dorne's support was partially dependent on Viserys marrying Arianne. Wasn't that one of the reasons they were looking for us?

Important Figures of Essos of the Second Century by meri47
Might as well post this little ficlet while it's even still slightly valid. This one is of a possibly totally AU future.

Excerpt from "Important Figures of Essos of the Second Century", by Maester Jon, circa 497 AC.

...Of the many daring figures of Essosi politics in the last years of the 2nd century, perhaps one of the most interesting is Valarr Vaeltigar. Vaeltigar burst onto the international stage of Essos with stories of his ambitious voyage to the ruins of Ancient Valyria and the treasures that he found.

Though the stories have obviously grown far beyond what must have truly occurred, it is indeed a well-documented fact that Vaeltigar voyaged to Valyria, accompanied by Ser Gerion Lannister and the famed writer Ser Jaime Lannister. One can only imagine how Ser Gerion was convinced by Vaeltigar to make the journey. Many speculate that Vaeltigar used his friendship with Ser Jaime to convince Ser Gerion that an attempt to discover a trace of the ill-fated King Tommen II would not be in vain; and would indeed lead to riches and perhaps the recovery of their long-lost hereditary sword Brightroar.

Many scholars have speculated on the truth of the voyage, particularly on the ludicrous claim that the explorers were able to avoid storms of Wildfire in the air. It is a fact that the voyage succeeded beyond their wildest expectations however. Vaeltigar was well-known for his full suit of Valyrian forged plate armor, recovered on the journey.

Vaeltigar went on to become a well-known figure in the Lyseni social sphere. His presence was considered essential at any soiree of note; though Vaeltigar was notably picky about which he would grace with his presence. Vaeltigar's younger sister also became an in-demand presence, noted for her spectacular singing ability.

Vaeltigar was a presence in the beginning of Alessandro the Great's years-long assault against the Dothraki; though he soon left to tend to his trading interests. It was there that his legend truly began to burn bright. Vaeltigar was instrumental in the early victories of the campaign and corresponded with Alessandro the Great for decades after.

Perhaps the most curious aspect of the Vaeltigar legend was his tendency to disappear for years at a time and leave his daily business to be run by others, including his cousin Aenar Vaeltigar- who would later become a legend in his own right. Many rumors abound as to where he went- that he was attempting to steal the dragons who had returned to the world during Euron the Mad's sacking of ? That he and his sister were secretly a series of Faceless Men assassinating and building information networks for the Order's use? And perhaps wildest of all, that he was for a time ruling the country of Westeros before retiring?

Many questions have been asked and will continue to be asked about this figure who set the world on fire in the last years of the second century after Aegon's Conquest and was one of the defining figures of the first half of the third.

I mean, at the point of the rumor mill Dorne didn't know Aegon was alive. If Viserys married Arianne that would help alleviate succession concerns down the line by removing a power base from aegons future kids

I just don't think that's very likely, Aegon supports our claim, if you are too concerned about it we could see if he would renounce his claim to the throne, to remove his line's claim to the throne as well.

Viserys was crowned king. Aegon is viserys heir until he has kids. Not to mention Aegon is Oberys nephew, the only thing left of his sister. Dorne will support viserys since they support Aegon. Suddenly misstrusting Aegon after saving him from Euron is something i dont get.

I have to wonder how Gregor dies if actually handed to Oberyn trussed up like a christmas goose. I mean, you have an unlimited timetable to get creative. But it would doubtlessly include a fade to black on this forum and then a reference to an intensive cleanup process that required both the hardwood floors and the plaster ceiling to be outright replaced.

If we keep the throne of Westeros (not the Iron Throne: we're melting that fucker with dragonfire and mailing ingots back to either the Iron Islanders or else every notable lord on the continent) we are going to be have to think what we are going to do with people. Many members of the Golden Company have legitimate claims on various lordships, Aegon should be landed somewhere, etc. Even if Aegon is a straight Targaryen, I wouldn't count on there not being at least one Blackfyre in Golden Company ranks.

Though, with Westeros, we could literally shatter the realm into seven literal kingdoms again and it would still be a step up from Robert.

@Magoose, if Viserys does not speak with some of these people at the party, are there ones with whom he could speak later, and would there be ones with whom Viserys cannot speak if he does not do so at the party?

For myself, no matter what, I absolutely want Viserys to speak with Alyrya and Princess Lu Tu, Alyrya for hopefully something more, Princess Lu Tu in order to open the door for the next great adventure of re-enacting Journey to the West and dealing with the cult on Leng, the one that set everything into motion with Euron, along with seeing so many amazing sights in the world.

Some of them will be going home, while others offer themselves to marry Viserys.

Well, logically, Viserys can always speak with Daenerys and his other companions after the party.

As for the rest, well, the Velaryons cannot go home for obvious reasons, so one presumes Viserys can speak with them after the party.

Alyrya and Princess Lu Tu are marriage candidates, so one presumes Princess Lu Tu will not be returning to Yi-Ti just yet, not without speaking with Viserys first.

I rather do want Viserys to get to know Alyrya and Princess Lu Tu better, starting here, though. For Princess Lu Tu, though not for marriage, I do hope she and Viserys can become good friends eventually. Furthermore, it is always useful to have a friend in a member of the Yi-Ti Imperial family.

Slowly, painfully, utterly monstrous end to a true monster of the setting.

You know what they say about torture being a terrible thing for the victim and the torturer.

Well lets say that Oberyn will not follow that trend.

Yes, indeed.

Good news, once you actually get to Westeros, and kick bobby B's ass, the ability to do that becomes easier.

Good thing the North is really fucking empty.

And I mean really empty.
Though, with Westeros, we could literally shatter the realm into seven literal kingdoms again and it would still be a step up from Robert.
Eh... for a generation maybe.

then it will be worse... much much worse.

[X]Dany the Dame: Dany has written a song for you. To celebrate your victory over Euron Greayjoy.

Let's reword Dany for bringing magic back into the world

I think we can forgive the blackfyres. They are literally family. On the condition they give up their claim to the throne we give them lordship over some land needing lords/ladies. For the new regime installing people from the golden company would do well since like someone said, they have legit claims and are loyal to Viserys rather than being loyal to Robert like most of the realm surprisingly still is.

I think rewarding nobility or knighthood to people should be a good way for Viserys to attract great warriors, generals, etc.

[X]The True Valyrian: The woman swayed into your sight, and damn near dominated your attention. She demanded it, and you were oh, so interested in that great mystery.

I am torn about which one to choose first. I want Viserys to become better acquainted with both Alyrya Aeritheos and Princess Lu Tu.
