Saturday's Eclipse, 15:35
It's not a bad idea. He's right; while it's unlikely that there are more demons of that level still lurking around, unlikely does not mean impossible, nor does it rule out the presence of lesser servants.
Amu perks up a little, subvocalising your explanation. You wait until she has worked her way through it before continuing, conscious of her reduced state of alertness. It's actually rather concerning; although you haven't fully mapped out how character transformations work yet, you can tell that the areas of her mind primarily concerned with maintaining them have largely shut down from the strain, requiring general-purpose and redundant systems to take over. As she is refusing to release the transformation, this has largely manifested as significant reductions in the efficiency of all other functions. There is a possibility of catastrophic backlash, which you set out to find ways of preventing.
Furthermore, you are quite close to exhaustion at present. Accepting an escort is a sign of goodwill, and it is unlikely that they will try something aggressive in this case, between your intervention saving several of their lives and your cooperation afterwards.
She nods along, accepting your suggestion with an equanimity born of exhaustion. Amu forwards your decision to the mortal soldier, who fetches two of his subordinates before leaving with Amu. That's interesting, and potentially a good sign; they appear to operate in squads of four, meaning they're forming a squad with Amu as opposed to bringing a squad and Amu.
On the other hand, you might be overthinking this. You're operating too far outside your design parameters; decisions like this are what your host is for, there's no reason for you to think about anything other than keeping her in optimal condition.

Amu nodded. That made sense, now that she thought about it. She didn't really want them to come with her, because then it'd be obvious to Mom that something had happened, but staying on their good side was probably a good idea.
"You'll accept an escort, then?"
"Eh?" She looked back at Lieutenant Yamada, eyes clouded with confusion. "Oh. Yes, that's fine. Sure. Let's go, then." She pushed off from the tree and looked around, trying to remember where she'd come from. She'd… jumped off to the right, hadn't she? After sending Miki and Su off to find Mom, southwards…
"Hey, hold up." She paused, noting him looking back towards the perimeter group. "Tsukino, Honda! You're with me, come on."
The two joined up, looking somewhat nervous, and she started walking southwards, heading in the direction that seemed right.
———
They were walking through an intact section of the park, which made for a nice change from the smoky, damaged area they'd left. That was probably most of the park, though. It might have left her wondering if that had really happened, but the three adults following her, and the sunrise-coloured aura that was still lighting up her surroundings even after the bonfire stopped, were enough for her to realise she couldn't possibly be misremembering.
With a shock, she realised that Mom would probably notice the way she was glowing.
"So, you think -" One of them said.
"Shh," another whispered. "Don't anger the sleepy goddess. Whether she is or isn't, safest to assume she is."
She was pretty sure he didn't mean for her to hear that, but she filed it under the list of things to consider later. Right now, she didn't really care what they thought.
Ran kept walking, unerringly moving in a single direction.
———
"Amu!"
Someone, up ahead, was shouting and running towards her. She couldn't make out who, but the voice was familiar.
The world fuzzed out for a minute, while she focused on putting one foot in front of the other.
"Oh God, Amu, are you okay?" Someone grabbed her, stopping her from walking, and held her at arm's length for a second. She frowned; she was supposed to be walking. Then she looked at who it was, making herself think about it, and realised it was Mom. Oh, okay. Didn't that mean she'd reached her destination?
"What are you wearing? Never mind. Thank God you're all right." Mom crushed her against herself, hugging her with near-fatal strength, and she struggled for a second before relaxing. She felt a hand passing through her hair, which crackled and produced a shower of some unidentifiable powder.
Ran frowned, thinking. There was something wrong… oh, right.
"Hi, Mom," she said, cocking her head. "You can see me now? How come?"
Mom stiffened, but then she got distracted by Miki flying in front of her face. "Amu?"
"Hi, Miki," she giggled. "You got small! Where's Su?"
"What… Ran?" Miki exclaimed, boggling. "This is bad. Detransform, now!"
"Oh, right. I didn't want to do that before getting to Mom. Here we go…"
She frowned, attempting to concentrate, but quickly gave up. Her head hurt too much to manage something like that, so instead she slumped against Mom and closed her eyes. Maybe after a nap?
"Can't make it work," she explained. "M'be later? Wake me in an hour."
"No! Don't… Mom, don't let her fall asleep, she needs to detransform first!" Ran frowned weakly; Miki was sounding kind of panicked, but she really needed to sleep now. Hopefully Su or Mom could handle whatever it was.
———
"Amu! Ran! Come on, detransform. You can do it. You defeated that demon, didn't you? Surely you're not going to let it beat you like this? Dammit! Then… what will I…"
Miki sounds desperate, a fact you note down for later reference. One past-life gestalt offers the suggestion that it's due to what is happening to Amu, but you pay it no heed; you are too busy staying ahead of the ongoing cascade failure. She would most likely survive if you didn't, but without proper moderation the shock might take several days to sleep off, which would both be highly inconvenient and a failure to maintain proper standards for your Solar.
Miki continues softly. "…Exaltation, wasn't it? You were advising her on your powers earlier. Can't you do something? Force them to separate?"
She is addressing you directly. This is highly anomalous, and you take a moment to consider her request properly. Normally Amu is the only one you would take instructions from, but there are mitigating circumstances in this case. For one, Miki is connected closely enough that her request is evidence of Amu's desires. For another, Amu earlier agreed with the same request, even if she stopped her attempt prior to succeeding. It would also simplify your job if you agree.
A single mote is redirected to spread through her soul, isolating misfiring connections and prying the two of them apart. You follow its progress, carefully guiding it to avoid contamination; unfortunately you are unable to handle everything simultaneously without a pre-made charm, so you don't perfectly succeed.
Amu and Ran fall deeply unconscious the moment their minds stop interfering with each other, but you have confidence that no permanent damage is done.
The immediate crisis over, you consider the other implications of Miki's statements.
———
Miki watched in trepidation as Amu convulsed, her transformation violently reversing itself. She'd done it… she was pretty sure that if Amu had gone to sleep like that, the outcome would have been bad. Now she had to wait to see what the cost would be. Amu and Ran were both out for the count, the latter having reformed already sleeping, and those soldiers looked far too interested in the situation for her liking. She didn't know what Mom thought of this, either.
"Are they okay?" Su asked, floating up to her right. Fat lot of help she'd been.
She grimaced. No, she shouldn't blame Su for hiding when Amu had shown up with an escort; it was the reasonable thing to do, and there had hardly been time for her to take in the situation. They were all tired.
"I think so." She hoped so. "She probably just needs sleep. If there was anything seriously wrong, I'm pretty sure we'd feel it." The problem was… "Mom?"
She floated forward a bit, the better to see her expression. Mom looked… scared, helpless. She was cradling Amu's unconscious body, stroking her hair with trembling hands, and incidentally cleaning it of powdered, bleached dye but not actually changing its colour - still pink. Amu, for her part, was still glowing softly despite being unconscious. So was Ran.
Miki shivered. "Mom, please. I'm sorry I didn't mention Ran… we just wanted to have a bit of fun, surprise you with her. I didn't know they'd be like this."
"We just wanted to have a fun day in the park… Why did this happen?" She spoke softly, her voice shaking. "Oh. Don't worry, Miki, I can tell you were trying to help. Tell me, what happened to Amu? And… Ran, was it? Huh, four daughters now."
Mom glanced up at the three soldiers, spearing them with a resentful look. "Well? You're military, aren't you? Isn't it your job to make sure this doesn't happen?" She angrily asked.
One of them stepped forward, saluting. "Lieutenant Yamada, Ma'am, with Japan Meteorological Agency, JP's. If I may speak bluntly, your daughter saved our asses, Ma'am. If it's okay with you, we'd like to bring you in for a debriefing and find out exactly what did happen."
She stared at them for a moment. "That's not an order?"
Yamada shrugged. "No, Ma'am. We make a point of not angering people who can kill that level of demon, Ma'am. It helps us live longer. The way I understand it, however, it would be in your best interests to come with us. We have doctors who'd have a much better shot at diagnosing your daughter than the local hospital."
Mom looked uncertain. Miki wondered if she should say something, but… really, Mom would know what to do. Unless there was something she didn't know, and she couldn't think of anything important.
If I may interject, I believe I may be able to offer a suggestion.
Miki jumped. That voice, again!
[ ] Amu just needs rest, which she can better get at home.
[ ] On the other hand, you could learn a lot by going with them.
- [ ] Insert debriefing preferences here. You can explain what happened, even if Amu is unconscious. Or, if you prefer, not.
[ ] Something completely different.
