[Exalted/SMT] Shard of a Broken Sun

[x] Introduce yourself to the leader and ask him if he'll still be there to talk in a few minutes. You need to check on your mom. You kind of ditched her.

There. Someone can improve on this crappy thing. It gets across that Amu wants to talk with the JP's while emphasizing that Amu is a young, human child, not a freakishly inhuman glowy thing.

So that's one vote for... hm, not actually a bad idea, but fair warning, with that vote she's going to introduce herself with the rough loquaciousness of an exhausted and traumatized ten-year-old~

Voting ends in three hours, because I've realised I never, ever end up writing before 20:00UTC anyway.

Thing is, from what we've seen the organization guys are not good people. Dunno why you guys wanna keep trying to negotiate with them when they were corralling a crowd of people to be eaten by a huge demon thingy.

I think that might make her sound even more authentic as someone seriously out of her depth?

Good enough for me, I can't really think of a better plan right now based on the information Amu and we would have at the moment.

Speaking of which, I left two favoured abilities unassigned. And as I am a merciful GM, I will now let you vote on them.

May I suggest Lore?

Lore is a Wise choice.

Another one would be Performance or Presence I think, something to help us deal with people. Presence moreso, as Ran helps cover Performance.

[X] Lore
[X] Presence

This seems solid. Especially given that the "rebuild Creation out of primordial chaos" Charms are Lore, so Amu has a backup plan in case the world ends.

Edit: Additionally, it's a skill not-really-in-theme for the existing Charas, since much of the things in the College of the Treasure Trove aren't typically very "creative" endeavours (aside from, say, computer science and the upper tier of mathematics) and thus don't seem to fit super-well with Miki's origin-dream.

If we're doing to [x] thing

[x] Lore
[x] Socialize

Amu is a nice girl who doesn't like mind-rape. Since that's all anyone ever talks about when discussing Presence, it's probably a pretty bad ability for her~

I would say Craft, but I would be eaten alive for that...
...
So Lore and either Presence or Investigation... (though Bureaucracy could've been useful)

Socialize isn't much different for a Solar...

To clarify:
Presence allows hypnotic commands, as well as smooth talking and radiating a presence of awe.
Socialize lets you brainwash an entire organization.

It doesn't force her to do that, however. Presence makes perfect sense for the reasoning I have in mind, but you can't force her to brainwash anyone. That doesn't make it useless; it also covers leadership in general. And who knows what might happen...

The XP cost difference between favored and non-favored abilities isn't massive. The training time difference is, since favored abilities waive training time, though I'll still require an hour of downtime.

I can now make a decision on training times:
- Learning your first eight charms will take only N hours instead of N days, up to 1/2 of which may be as related non-training actions. (E.g. being in combat, for combat charms.)
- All other training times are standard.
- There may be in-story opportunities to improve on this.

Oh, and...

(Other) vote called.

I'll admit I have little idea of what I'm doing, but at least Socialize is something Amu wants to be good at with Su.
The thing is... do we want the Charas to go away ever? I don't. And that means that if Amu needs to go around Socializing, she can turn into Amulet Clover and use Su's Socialize Ability - or half that for a partial Change. Aside from her first "real" dot of Socialize, which costs the same favored or unfavored.

So as long as we have Su around, it's better for Amu to have something that isn't Su's specialty as Favored.

The same applies to Craft, Performance, and Athletics, for the record.

The only exception is in cases where having the Ability would synergize really well with one from a different Chara - which I don't really see in any that are already there, aside maybe combining Su's bonus Perception with Miki's Craft skills.

Or we could just activate Dream-Affirming Projection, a charm that Amu has purchased, and never worry about them dying to motivation changes again.

But you don't seem to understand how charas work. If a chara-bearer relies on their chara exclusively, and doesn't work to improve themselves, the dream will die. That's what will kill them. Again, not a problem for Amu.

Can Amu buy charms whose ability requirements are met by her Charas, but not by herself?
Yes. In fact, she already has.

And if they work to accomplish the dream, and do so, the chara will still die.

Canon Amu eventually does something very haxx, acquiring a dream of not having her charas die, since they were more friends/siblings than dreams in the end. Meta, but it works. The charm allows her to short-circuit that storyline.
