[Exalted, ?] Most High

Hey guys, what's going o-
Sometimes I wonder if there was a yandere Syn route... but then I stop wondering and think less heretical thoughts.
There is no Syn route. Unless you guys want to find a way. There is an interesting component of her backstory that you guys may discover, though...
Are we... seriously having this conversation? Vitaris, how could you? I thought you had your priorities straight...

She thinks the destruction of Creation is preferable to one ruled by Solars. This is not a viewpoint that has room for petty niceties like compromise or negotiation.
This is false

The bronze faction argument is:
with solars, destruction is possible. reforming them might be possible but is uncertain
without solars, destruction is certain to not happen, creation will be diminished but survive.
Certain survival is prefereable to any risk of destruction, even if it means making sacrifices.

Guys. Syn is the enemy. Person who brainwashed Ivory, killed Zao last time around, and condemned Moon to a fate worse than death. Remember that, yeah?

An Sys has gone off the reservation and has abandoned the bronze factions ideology in favor of pure hatred of solars.

From the horse's mouth:
She knew what Zao intended. He thought to save them from destruction by harnessing a power that was beyond him. Given his parentage, she ought to be surprised... well, it was probably his own form of rebellion. He was still a child. He did not understand that there were worse fates than destruction.

Worse by far.

Thanks for the vote counts, guys!
Was intended as a joke about Pearl and Syn's shared origins. Can't really draw conclusions from a sample size of two.

For that matter, Odyssial was an orphan, though also a man grown (by the standards of his tribe) when they died... he Exalted at around Uly's age, actually!

It has. It's also been stated that she would utterly lose her shit and immediately either seek our life personally, or amass a force she thinks is capable of doing so, and then do that. Her not recognizing us is a very good thing.
She thinks the destruction of Creation is preferable to one ruled by Solars. This is not a viewpoint that has room for petty niceties like compromise or negotiation. If we extend an olive branch, she will take it and beat us to death with it.

Rather, she'd use her fists. Her Earth Perfection Body-augmented, sledgehammer fists.

Just don't bring up One Hand Fury!

Huh, apparently she went off the deep end and is far more anti solar than your typical bronze.
However, we might still be able to subvert other bronze faction members with such a speil

... wait, wasn't she a starving orphan under a cruel solar tyrant? I remember distinctly the mention of that solar being horrible. I bet she has quite a sob story (not that it is an excuse)
Basically, she views solars like odyssial viewed titans. They are all bad, no exceptions. (I wonder how he got along with gaia and autochthon)

I am pretty sure people were joking

then again they said YANdere not tsundere. So maybe they were serious but just suicidal in their fetishes

I wouldn't mind hearing it. I'd make some popcorn and laugh heartily, it'd be great fun.

I don't know about Gaia, but we know from an off-hand comment in the Lealope segment that he worked fairly well with Autochthon.

Some Titans have values systems too alien to be comprehensible or compatible. Those must die. However, if a Titan were to recognize this issue and ensure that their doing so does not infringe upon or completely annihilate lesser sentients, this is commendable and should be encouraged.

That's only sensible. But it probably took some titans getting slain by ants for them to realize that stepping on ants is bad and has consequences, so they shouldn't do it.

Bet that magitech arm cost a pretty penny, especially with the added rarity of 3E. She armed herself (literally) with the tools of the enemy and paid the price. Pity we don't have the social prowess required to capitalize on the failure that represents; Odyssial would surely have never been taken in by so transparent a gambit.

Even if he had, he would have just crushed through with raw power!

I think you used to said that people will worried about us if they know aboht Ody identity.

They will prefer to running away on the same level of great curse?.

Autochon is only good titan that sometime understand Ody.

Fear is a versatile emotion. Sometimes it debilitates, driving those afflicted with it to unproductive paranoia or unthinking terror, but occasionally it motivates people to eliminate the source of their fear by any means necessary. In most cases, it's difficult to tell which side an individual will fall on until they're pushed to their limits, but I think we can safely assume than Anys Syn won't give up without a fight.

Heavy Lies The Crown, Vote Update
Overview of the City

Luseng is a Throne-held satrapy currently garrisoned by the Nellens 2nd Legion, the "Ghost-Water." The Acting General is Sesus Ulyssian. The Satrapal Governor is Sesus Ulyssian. With most of the realm's satrapies having been partitioned out to Houses, Throne-held domains are increasingly rare, and the demands put upon them by the Deliberative increasingly unreasonable - as recent events have evinced.

Mood in the Capitol is Hopeful [Inconsolable, Wretched, Panicked, Terrified, Despairing, Melancholic, Shaken, Mediocre, Average, Sanguine, Optimistic, Hopeful, Confident, Superlative, Utopian, Invincible]

Loyalty in the Capitol is Fanatical [Traitorous, Mutinous, Treacherous, Dangerous, Duplicitous, Unreliable, Unspectacular, Dutiful, Steadfast, Redoubtable, Zealous, Fanatical, Unassailable], but is expected to decay towards Steadfast as the memory of recent military victories fades, and tax burden continues to rise.

Overall City Administration is Very Competent - there are Dragon-Blooded mandarins at the helm, the leader of which must perform well or die.

The City's Economy is Managing. Exports continue apace, though not at the lucrative rate of pre-war economic activity. Taxation, however, is Brutal.

The Military Power of the Satrapy is Immense, consisting of one Realm Legion at 50% strength, its Auxilaries at 30% strength, a basic native militia roughly 1,250 men strong, and Sesus Ulyssian. However, over 75% of its military power is concentrated in the person of Sesus Ulyssian.

The combined military strength of its enemies is Overwhelming, including the Freehold of Empress Slay, the forces of the Lunar Ragmar, his reinforcements from the Bull of the North, and the Abyssals The Lily of the Valley and The Thorns of the Rose.

Luseng's Royal Palace contains a reasonably well-maintained Records Room, but the Great Library of Auseng Bu is deep within beastman-controlled territory. It does not otherwise contain any special repositories of lore, aside from bureaucratic archives from the satrapal administration.

The City Gods are Resentful, believing Ulyssian to have sabatoged the ascension of their new City Father, Uncle Pan. They are also envious of Pan's recent surge of worship, and would like to have some relegated to themselves.

The victorious votes from last time are:

The Shining Metropolis
He Could Try
Grin and Bear It

This has affected the default options offered for your monetary crisis, below.

Realm Economic Update

Owing to the numerous and significant costs recently occured, Luseng's treasury is in dire straits. Hundreds of thousands were hired and efficiently employed to re-build sections of the destroyed city and maintain public order. Hundreds of thousands more were hired to participate in coordinated, systematized and efficient prayer for Uncle Pan. More importantly, thousands of obels' worth of taxes were recently extracted via Realm ship.

Your current treasury: 2300 Obels
Your current personal wealth: 5,200 Obels (stored in a large wooden tetsubo banished by Summoning the Loyal Steel)

1 Obel = roughly 1,000 man-days of competent labor, including administrative / management costs
An Obel is the yearly wage of an elite soldier or skilled bureaucrat. One Obel pays for three battle-ready soldiers a year.
A successful small business might bring in 10 Obels of revenue per year, enough to employ 30 workers for the entire year
To equip, train, raise, manage, and staff a Realm Legion for a year costs ~5,000 Obels, and an additional 5,000 per year of active duty.

Income: +1090 Obels a month

Income is not the GDP of the city, but rather your share of taxes in the form of Satrapal taxes, duties, bribes, etc.

-Raw Jade: You do not presently have a source of this material. Previously this was responsible for more than 1,500 Obels / month of revenue.
-Processed Jade: Your last processed jade was sent with the Realm ship to pay for taxes. Previously this was responsible for more than 1,500 Obels / month of revenue.
-Self-Chilling Trout: +200 Obels / Month
-Textile Cash Crops (Mainly Silk & Dyes): +200 Obels / Month
-Consumable Cash Crops (Spices & Drugs): +150 Obels / Month
-Light Industry (Clothing, Art & Culture Exports): +150 Obels / Month
-Heavy Industry (Blacksmithing, Stonework & Such): +50 Obels / Month
-Miscellaneous (Mostly Blue-Light District): +310 Obels / Month
-Silver Mines: +30 Obels / Month. Previously this was responsible for more than 1,000 Obels / month of revenue. However, most silver mines are in Lunar-occupied territory.

Total Expenses:

-The Realm: -7,200 Obels / month. This is taken from your tax revenue before it becomes Income; if you employ questionable accounting methods or outright fraud, you can increase your income share of taxes. Presently, Realm taxes reduce your Income by 87% (it would be ~9000 without them).
-Rebuilding Initiative: -1,400 Obels / month. Employing 100,000 people isn't cheap, and there are still over a million without jobs or homes. This number would be much higher if your income taxes weren't incredibly high. As it is, these people are effectively grossly underpaid.
-Prayer Initiative: -1,350 Obels / month. Reduced rates for the relatively easy work, mostly performed by children or stay-at-home spouses, but this employs even more people than rebuilding. This number would be much higher if your income taxes weren't incredibly high. As it is, these people are effectively grossly underpaid.
-Legion Upkeep & Reinforcement: -400 Obels / Month, includes the cost of active recruitment & support of auxiliaries, including DB salaries.
-Normal City Expenses: -2,400 Obels / month, drastically increased due to the city supporting 20x its usual population.
-Miscellaneous Expenses: -600 Obels / month
-Corruption: ! Almost Nonexistent (Silver lining!)

Your current Net Income is roughly -4,000 Obels / month. You are hemorrhaging money, and will run out within about two weeks. If you hadn't paid taxes, you would be in the black, despite wartime expenses and massive public works. Luseng is that rich, capable on its own of paying for over ten full Realm Legions a year. However, tax rates are already brutal and the people struggle to survive under the yoke of the Realm, with the loyalty of many being steadily eroded by the massive and increasing tax burden.

---

Something needs to be done. You can take most of these actions without expending your Personal, so they stack, but most do have downsides.

[ ] No Taxation Without Representation - It's time to deny the Realm its grossly unfair share. Vastly reduce the amount of income you report, allowing you to retain a higher percentage of tax income.
-[ ] Relatively conservative: You can squeeze out maybe 500 Obels / month with few the wiser (Bureaucracy DC 10, takes a day)
-[ ] Abject Fraud: Filthy lucre of over 3,000 Obels / month with egregious bold accounting methodologies (Contested Bureaucracy DC vs Realm Auditors. Takes a day. Chances of victory: ~70%.)

[ ] The Cutter, Cut Down - Extremely risky. You, as the Satrap, are after all responsible for the safety of that ship. But over 7,000 Obels is just too much to give to the Realm. Arrange an accident, and face the consequences down the line. You will recover 7,200 Obels worth of taxes. [Risks: Unknown, but likely high]

[ ] Beg Zao For Money - The Navy isn't exactly swimming in jade - they're more interested in saltwater - but it's getting back on its legs.
-[ ] A Small Favor: Zao might be able to arrange a 'loan' of 2,000 or so Obels without raising too many eyebrows...You would have to pay it back, however, with interest.
-[ ] Call It In: You made the Navy what it is, now it's time to pay up. Demand 10,000 Obels in free money.

[ ] Tap the Reserves - You can hold out for a full month extra at current burn rates if you are willing to spend your personal wealth. It's for a good cause! Stalls your government's bankruptcy while you work on more important things than mere money. Doesn't consume a personal action, either!

[ ] Assault On the Emerald Mountain - Short-sighted measures will avail you little. Though it's incredibly dangerous and deep enemy-controlled territory, contested by The Lily as well as Ragmar, it is time to seize the Emerald Mountain for Luseng. Normally you would be well-advised to wait until Moon & other Exalts can arrive to reinforce you, but the need is dire. That jade alone will suffice to nearly pull you back into the black, and if you ramp up exploitation, well... [Personal Action used for next turn]

[ ] Earth and Heaven Wellspring - Not compatible with any other options except No Taxation and Beg Zao for Money. Lock yourself in your chambers with reams of economic data, spending much of your personal wealth for the best comprehensive global records that money can buy, and use Prophet of Seventeen Cycles to find a way out of this. City administration will be neglected during this time period, but it can't be helped. Luseng needs to pull into sustainable income. It won't be fast or easy, but it'll work in the long term. [City Mood, Administration, and Loyalty will decrease while you are locked away. However, Prophecy spam will, if successful, gradually increase revenues by enormous amounts. Synergizes with No Taxation.] [Personal Action used for next turn]

[ ] Write-In - You could take a loan, stop the Public Works programs, hire yourself out as a mercenary, lower taxes (why?), raise taxes (not much more to tax...), attempt normal money-making methods without Prophecy spam, etc.

Finally a chance to buy glorious SAIL charms, also we have three opponents we can blame for it and potentially use it to boost the power of the navy.

I don't feel like being terribly kind. Let's defraud the shit out of that tax and plow it back into our own econ.

Ladies and gentlemen of the thread, it is now time to begin economic witchcraft

I'll get my cauldron when I wake up tomorrow.

[X] No Taxation Without Representation
-[X] Abject Fraud
[X] Assault On the Emerald Mountain

Conduct some fraud to fix the problem immediately and then assault the mountain for a more permanent fix.

What won?
Obviously grin and bear it won (with obvious consequences).
And "try" was firmly in the lead so it probably won the sentimentality vote.
but what about empire vs metro? (we should know since its what we are planning)
