Seriously people we spent a significant fraction of our xp and training time on learning evocations for Ambition giving it up now means we wasted about half the time we spent training.

Also if we were to give it away it shouldn't be to Zao who is a known quantity and has already reached his peak, but to someone who has immense potential but isn't realizing it. Most people jumped to Moon when thinking this but she is already training as hard as she can. The real underachiever on our team is Nilul. She hasn't bothered to learn to fight at all and is rather suboptimal in her growth. Give her ambition and we'll upgrade her to being another solar tier combatant as the mental effect motivated her to optimize. That said if we were going to give the sword away we should have done so before spending months of training time on charms that only work when using it.

As for Luseng while this is clearly intended as a suicide mission it isn't really all that different from the kind of stuff we would have sought out on our own. It is a potentially valuable seat of power that is currently doomed without Solar intervention. Actually succeeding gives us major political cred, succeeding on the next suicide mission simply makes us the guy who does miracles.

Basically a rough stunt of how I want to fade away. I was assuming that the entourage to take over the Satrap wouldn't be overly large. My estimation was something along the lines of less than 15 DBs and a bunch of extras. I am thinking that calling in the Infernals, and Ivory plus Uly, we'd have 4 pretty high tier solaroid, one of which have access to Adamant circle sorcery. Wiping out such a force could probably be done, even if, especially if all the DBs are focusing on a way to stab us in the back.

Just to reiterate my edit, Even if we just find some mountain without people and train for a year, it will be more productive than walking into Anys Syn's trap and work within her system. Right now, Anys Syn has assumed the role of the Dragnocracy. She has seized the whole system(of the Realm) and it going to use it to grind us down as a institution vs a individual. I say screw that, lets do our own thing.

Go train, go learn sorcery, go on a quest to find our waifu, go on a quest to gather Odyssial's hidden cache and build an army. Go to heaven and ask for a tkurn at the games.

I would argue that by disappearing, we become more vulnerable to her more aggressive assets. While "Playing the Game" allows us to build a power base while also sharpening our skills, and she can't actually openly destroy us, not without risking everything, because she's just put the game in a field where her native powers are quite weak, and if she pushes hard, she's likely to rouse suspicion.

And the longer she plays this game, the more fragile her hold becomes--she's resorted to the nuclear option, and that means that she's become a target for anyone who wants to destabilize the Realm.

Also now curious as to who Feng's parent is, though I suspect the answer might be "Chejop Kejack" given Anys Syn's comment.

So we would. I trust they wouldn't be stupid enough to use it like "oh hey turn Nilul over to the Ebon Dragon" or "kill Lung Feng Zao," would they?

It does occur to me that, on the way out to find Lealope, would could stop at various bastions of Creation along the way (Lookshy, Great Forks, Nexus, Sijan, etc) and buff them with PoSC. Maybe pick up more Resources that way, favors, influence, etc. As well as helping to keep Creation intact. Maybe also handicap Thorns if the Confederation of Rivers has enough intelligence on the Mask of Winters...

No, we don't, because she has to find Ulyssian first. And Ulyssian, Pearl, and Nilul are very good at staying hidden. Most of the River Province is also hostile to the Realm and Realm assets, so her reach is substantially reduced there compared to if we remained in the Realm in a prominent position.

I don't feel like underestimating Little Miss "I still have my second strongest asset that you don't know about"

This is the Expected response, to disappear rather then take a suicide posting. If we do, they can restate the "Definitely an Anathema", and use that as an excuse to destroy all of our assets, because they're clearly tainted by our sinister wiles.

She wants both us And Zao off the table. The latter is going to be much more vulnerable if we disappear and get the Anathema label slapped on us, since he's now in a position to get murderstomped for not doing his sacred duty and killing the Anathema.

Anys Syn is not an idiot, and the only means of "Disappearing" that we might conceivably have is the one where we owe our two Infernal Contacts a "Huge Favour"

Well, of every other party to own favor to, Infernals aren't too bad unless they work with Cecy.
And as have been mentioned before, we could probably leak out Syn's new status to the Infernals. That way we would have her royal redness and the Ebon dragon planning her downfall as well?

You caution against underestimating Any Syn and then counsel walking into the series of death traps she has set up to destroy Ulyssian? Uh, yeah, good call there. Just like "oh no we can't start the Realm Civil War now because we aren't prepared but don't worry everyone will give us all the time in the world to get our ducks in a row first."
 
Perfect disguise, charms make it very hard to find,someone who does,not want to be found.
We could retire Uly and make a new identity to gain came and power if we really wanted to. The only issue is Ambition being quite distinctive. However, I'm pretty sure that Uly has either a charm or evocation for disguising it.

The difference is that while it's a death trap, she's not going to actively sabotage us in this event, and we have an opportunity to gather resources more-or-less openly, while our allies in the Realm can act unopposed. I'm not keen on exposing our allies in this Age to destruction because we were too scared to start a game of Maniac Mode Total War.

Three enemies, each with mutually conflicting goals in mind, if you think Sesus Ulyssian can't turn their fragile alliance on them and have their own jockeying for position gain him a significant advantage, you are clearly underestimating him.

Just because we vanish does not mean she can then use it to purge our friends and allies. If we thought that was a risk, it would mention it in the option to fade away.

Our only ally in the Realm is Zao, and as the choices for the posting show, he totally cannot act unoppossed.

Yes she can.

She's put herself in a position as Literally an Immaculate Dragon returned. As long as she doesn't go completely off the reservation, then yes, she has pretty much power that would have only been matched by the Scarlet Empress herself.

We were already under suspicion once, mysteriously disappearing the first time we're actually in real danger would give her an opening a mile wide to ram into our allance. Zao would be equally fucked over by dint of "Well, clearly you knew and did nothing, heretic!" Which lets Anys Syn spirit Moon away for the breeding plan. Ivory is either isolated then, or she's forced into hiding--or worse luck, "Reeducated".

Painting it as Infernal Intervention gives us a possibility of pulling it off without endangering our allies (Though she might do it anyway, as she wants Zao out of play), but at a huge cost to us.

Preliminary plan. Whether or not to give Ambition to Zao is something I am very much not certain of.

Running away is the expected response perhaps. Getting killed by a Infernals is exactly what Anys WANT to happen to us. She's just going to be sad that we didn't bring down one of them.

Staying within her systems is playing to her strength, she was the secretary to the guy who build the Realm. I have no problem playing Total War, playing within the system against the developer who have admin rights and cheat console enabled is a pretty dumb move.

The problem I have is not that we wouldn't be able to do it. We clearly would, but that after we succeed she'll just throw us into a even bigger shithole, because she aint stupid, she wouldn't let us consolidate our gains and then we are back at square 1 while she's making progress on her side.

Owning a Huge Favor to two Infernals is not ideal, but it opens up our options and allow us to escape her system and strike at her from the outside.
