Sorcerous Workings can make people immortal, it's Solar Ambition 1, but you have to maintain them.
But isn't there also "restore someone's body to their prime of the youth" at the same Ambition level? You would of course have to repeat it after the subject gets older again, but in Zao's case that wouldn't be much of a problem.

EDIT: Also, about immortality: it doesn't require necessarily maintainance, but requiring maintainance can be that one flaw that the immortality has to have.

Yes, all Sorcery-based immortality methods are flawed, but maintenance / re-casting is much better than something like situational immortality, or worse, not being able to leave your territory!

Well, I could argue that Workings can be pretty time-consuming, which could be important as time is an extremely scarce resource for us. And immortality with a flaw still limits the methods your foe can slay you, making it quite useful if you don't lean too heavily on it. But if the recasting is required something like only once in a year, I could see it being mostly superior.

Well in this case the idea would be to simply to keep Zao from dying of old age for the immediate crisis so would simply making it so he either drops a couple centuries from his current age or simply won't age for a couple centuries be as a single casting. The idea isn't make him unkillable just that he won't keel over on us.

How long would it take Ully to do workings of different ambition/sorcery levels on average? Would buffing ourselves or our allies with workings be comparable to training in terms of time efficiency?

Let's be at our best to start the tournament. Besides, only the weak ones won't notice the poison, and they aren't the hard part.

Let's round off our 5's. These can't be taken from us anywhere near as easily as the armor (though Ambition's pretty safe).
And I don't like relying on equipment as much as our own, person strength, but that's just my biases talking.

He seems like the most dangerous, at least straightforwardly. Let's interact with him so we can generate a plan to crush him.

A bit wasteful in terms of XP spending but much more vital for meta reasons. If we win, we will be courted by every faction and we can easily secure a position of power.

How exactly do you expect Uly to lose his Artifact armor? He probably sleeps in it.

We don't get a debuff if we don't take Decompress, we just get moderately less willpower to start out with. Much less valuable than weeding out the chaff (the elimination of which is likely to require more willpower than the option would recoup) or getting intelligence on the mysterious characters here at the tournament. Also, it's just more interesting; it introduces new people with their own travails and quirks, as opposed to merely interacting more with Nilul, who is distracting (not good on the eve of a tournament), best taken in small quantities, and has had more than her fair share of screentime.

If we pick up a better armor in the future, we might give it away to Moon or return it to Zao, retroactively rendering the training time invested in it useless. I agree that it's unlikely to be stolen, though.

It depends on your skill at Sorcery, but assuming Maximum Possible Skill, something like 2-5 weeks and 5000 - 40,000 XP per Working, with lower end Workings doing stuff like turning your blood into vicious scorpions when spilled and higher end Workings doing stuff like banishing a city to the outer darkness or creating a 3CD-equivalent being that is loyal to you.

Mainly 'cause I am Nilul'd-out and I bet Uly is too. General intel-gathering would be most useful.

Because the name sounds cool (what I have simple tastes).

Guy's called the Iron Serpent, for fuck's sake, which I will nobly endeavor not to make a crude joke about. Scoping out the competition is just common sense when the competition is almost as srsface as Uly himself.

Now that you guys are caught up on Willpower regen mechanics, you should have a better position from which to speculate about Nilul's antics.

Well, SaS is appealing to me for a number of reasons:
  • Having looked over the Evocations in question, I'm comfortable with our chances with only the first Shogun Evocation if we get that huge bunch of Ambition ones. Seriously, Ambition's ridiculous.
  • The ideal of being a mental and physical Adonis (I don't know where that term comes from other than being a reference to some Greek guy; maybe in future they can call people Ulyssian ideals) incredibly appeals to me. Particularly Ulyssian finally reaching peak human intelligence.
  • It synergises with our impending investments into Lore and Sorcery (I can't stress enough how much I want Sorcery).

I'm not comfortable with SaS for two reasons. Firstly, it decreases our combat power, and while it is more efficient, the efficiency would only really be in terms of training time, as we can refund XP from evocations. Having already reached the peak of E3 power, we NEED to get E4 asap, so we cannot possibly afford to lose in this tournament. If we lose simply because we did not choose maximum combat power, and savings in training time we made would be lost as we would need to spend 4 months in meditation to get E4, and no matter how you look at it, 4 months worth of intensive mediation would take much more time than raising our strength and intelligence to 5 later on. In addition to that, we would also lose the opportunity cost to buy E4 charms until later, or any charms at all, for that matter. Thus, if we lose, we would only be able to train evocations, martial arts, attributes and abilities. We have already bought all of Ambitions' Evocations, and we are not training in MA, so if we get stuck at E3, we would only be able to raise our attributes and abilities, which would be a relatively inefficient way to increase our personal power as compared to charms. While we could try and complete another quest to get E4, that quest could be used to get E5 if we were already E4 in the first place.

More importantly is that its not like the Evocations of the Storm armour are bad, or that they are not useful to us. Flying opens up mobility options that we would otherwise not have, while the ability to shunt our anima into the armour would be very useful in increasing the difficulty of piercing our disguise. We are dealing with the pinnicle of DB ability, so hoping that they would not be able to notice the discrepancies in our anima like the fact that it does not actually burn is kind of foolish. However, with the Armour's Evocation, our anima would be sealed into the armour, thus preventing them from being able to notice that it does not burn things.

Yeah, I'm surprised so many want SaS. These guys are the no-shit pinnacle of Dragon-Blooded power, barring freaks of nature the beneficiaries of Solar Workings like Zao and hopefully one day Moon. Winning is not a guarantee, not even fucking close, and Regalia gives us a shitload of power and helps our disguise. SaS may be better for the long term when it comes to attributes, but the training time we gain from winning the tournament more than makes up for the time lost on the Storm Armor, even if we do give it away. The best long-term investment of all is ensuring we live to train more. We lose, we have to spend months meditating in shame. It hurts Zao's timetable and Ulyssian's pride. It's not even like the Storm Armor is bad, it lets us fucking fly and summon hurricanes. Don't you want to fly?

Oh, if you commit the time to activating Immortal Blade Triumphant, it seals your anima into your blade for a scene, which you can use Perfect Mirror to fluff it as Ordained Talon of Draconic Fury or something. People might notice, but if you finish the combat quick they might not, and most non Elite level bystanders would have almost no chance unless they are DB Batman or something.

Can we get a final-ish vote count? Thanks! You guys have pretty mediocre chances of winning this tournament, which is very good.
