[X] Maximum Revelry
[X] With the help of Nilul

Dragonblooded partys sound extreme, and I really enjoyed the interaction with Nilul. Do social charms work through the internet? :o

I'm kinda worried we're losing the little time we have in a reasonably safe place where we can grow in power in security and without distracting responsibilities like a field command or something of this order, leave us by.

Maybe... There was that one time with AtTT.

I'm kinda worried we're losing the little time we have in a reasonably safe place where we can grow in power in security and without distracting responsibilities like a field command or something of this order, leave us by.

Well, you've got six months to go and only two months' worth of XP to blow!

Uly connecting with his friends and family isn't a loss of time in my book.

Tell that to Uly!

You're worried that the 1-3 days lost for Calibration means we're doomed?

I've been thinking about whether we should pretend that Uly "blowing his cover" was at least partly motivated by a desire to have the ruse end and be allowed to tell his family and stuff.
Then I remembered that Uly is basically shit at disguising his Intimacies and his extreme affection for Moon and presumed lack of positive Intimacies for his family make that completely unbelievable.

It did however make me wonder what exactly are Uly's current Intimacies?
Given that exposing ourselves to the party would also involve at least someone exposing us to a crowd of people all the more keen to discover and abuse our Intimacies, it'd probably be important to know what exactly they could easily find out about Uly and use to influence him.
Some things like Moon and his drive are a bit obvious but there may be some stuff we're forgetting about being a risk factor.

In regards to how and why Nilul should help us with the party, the why is easily handled because she is kind of here in the first place to make us attend, so if we give in on that point we might as well get the concession out of her that she'll be there to help because Uly is currently kind of shit at social stuff and certainly not really capable of dealing with a Calibration Party on his own without a constant string of honor duels.

As for how, extracting him out of situations making the aprticipants (including Uly himself) incresaingly willing to go for an honor duel would be a start, as would be clueing him in on important people present that he might have to end up talking with or that like they'll end up talking to him.
His Integrity and and Presence Excellencies give him at least a decent chance to stand his ground against anyone that doesn't outclass him too much, but having Nilul effectively take over his Read Intentions rolls would go a long way to make up for his shitty Socialize.

Example Titles
War-Saint's Ferocious Vigor (160,000 Normal XP) - Power unyielding and unbound, striking down all in its path. Efficiency, rejuvenation, and sheer might: all are the domain of the War-Saint.

*The Solar may perform a devastating physical strike, crossing significant distances in an instant to utterly seize control of an engagement
*When struck by glancing blows, his power is only renewed, greatly extending his stamina in combat
*When fully committing to a strike, likewise his power is renewed, commensurate to the upwelling excellence of the strike itself
*His precise, yet energetic power allows him to deflect, repel, and overcome even the most skilled of attacks, frequently turning sure hits into narrow misses with very modest effort.
*This Title multiplicatively expands the Solar's overall combat strength.

Flash of Steel (160,000 Solar XP) - The Blade Ambition is the perfect mirror to Odyssial's own limit-transcending power.

*Against those who believe its reach to be limited, Ambition may deliver a swift reply. When attacked from outside melee range, Odyssial may meet that attack head-on. Sunlight flashes off his blade as if it were high noon, and he if overcomes the strike, so effortless is his deflection that it robs all momentum from his assailant.
*Against those who believe that it can be overcome by a hundred thousand lesser swords, Ambition displays its utmost scorn. Odyssial's superhuman guard grows in efficacy the more times he is attacked during a round.
*Against those who believe its edge can be stopped, Ambition cuts seamlessly through. Odyssial's strikes significantly reduce the effectiveness of enemy armor, and his killing blows are murderously deep.
*Against those believe its guard will ever fail, Ambition finds a way. When the bulwark of its edge is raised, Odyssial may block even unblockable attacks.

Better Listener (120,000 + 40,000 Normal XP) - Long millennia ago, on the advice of his Lunar Mate, Odyssial became a better listener.

*The keenness of his hearing and touch increase dramatically, allowing him to feel the vibrations from a insect's tread, or listen to conversations insulated by solid stone.
*His powers of sight are improved as well, giving him superlative vision under all circumstances. He can make out details through a blindfold, or read a letter through a window from three rooftops away.
*His heightened senses allow him supreme readiness for battle. With a modest exertion of power and will, he can leap into the fray with uncanny speed, seizing the momentum of the fight and significantly increasing his ability to spot hidden enemies.
*At Essence 3, his comprehension of physical vibrations is unmatched; he can feel the movements of individual formations through the ground of the battlefield, comprehend the utmost whispered discussions of enemy generals leagues away in their tents, or stalk a trackless foe by the miniscule vibrations of steps left hours ago. A one-man intelligence operation, he can ferret out secrets from a room hours after they were spoken, or monitor the entire guard detail of a fortress by crawling along its walls.
*All effects occur in a manner that avoids overwhelming Odyssial.

OK, that's generally understandable, but why would Nilul do that? I mean, why would she act in a fashion that would be congruent with Ulyssian's goals? Shouldn't she be acting in a manner that would further her own agenda rather than Ulyssians? She's his friend (in theory), but that doesn't mean she won't do stuff that might have plausible deniability to help herself, possibly at his cost.

Ulyssian couldn't tell any better anyway, he's not so good at the social stuff.

EDIT: I want Better Listener please, so so much.

You're at 267,400 Normal and 341,600 Solar XP, for a total of 609,000 XP. Last time I didn't include the 245,000 Flash purchase in the XP update, so your total was artificially high. Note that you need 200,000 Normal XP to reach Essence 3, so you have a bit over that, but not much over.

Given this we could get Better Listener (120,000 + 40,000 Normal XP)/Flash of Steel (160,000 Solar XP)/E3(200,000 Normal) which seem like a rather well rounded combination. It also looks like normal xp will probably be more valuable in the future.

How long does it take to train these titles?

Well, if we gave her Ambition...

[X] Flash of Steel

This is essentially a trade off between better offense of better defense. It comes down to personal preference and what XP pool we use. Solar XP can be spent to boost our defense while Normal XP can be spent to get better social skills (only Filthy Suboptimals would dare to choose this path). I personally feel that Normal XP is more valuable than Solar XP so spending Solar XP now is preferable over spending Normal XP. In addition, learning evocations allows us to progress into Adamant Evocations which is where all the fun stuff is.

War-Saint improves your defense too. It is probably slightly better for you than Flash of Steel, though it does consume normal XP. However, if you're interested in Combat, War-Saint is an almost inevitable purchase anyway.

So... Nilul is actually a Solar Infernal Dragon?
The Dragon's Shadow IS Sol's Shadow, so
antiSolar Dragon
is the best fit I think

Woooooooo I want that Sensing.
Can we spin that as Zao's personal charm?
Sorry Nilul, rather than debauchery, I wanna be panopticon Batman
Hmm, seeing that Rihaku said we don't need to vote for Power to vote for titles, eh.

[X] Better Listener

hey guys, uuh, Flash of Light has Ambition gleaming golden sunlight.
We're going to get outed if we use that.

Yes, you could spin it that way. Remember, 2E lore and mechanics are no longer canon

Dammit Pipeman, you've convinced me to abandon "sense" once more.

[X] MAXIMUM Revelry

Dat Better Listener tho. For if/when we do snag titles:
[X] Better Listener.

Going by past quests for the moment her major goals are to avoid getting captured by her father (the Ebon Dragon) or his minions (all the Infernals he commands) and being subjected to horrifyingly painful experiments.
She also wants to avoid being captured and subjected to horrifyingly painful experiments and/or death by anyone else and seeing how factions wanting to do those things to her potentially include include the Deathlords and their minions, Lunars with beef against the Realm, the Scarlet Empress or the Ebon Dragon, all DBs that care about the whole Anathema issue, most Siddies and all Solars with enough hate for the Realm, the Scarlet Empress or the Ebon Dragon or just a big dose of curiosity and sociopathy, she's looking at quite the problem.

This is why she went to Zao, the most powerful DB alive and her mother's former teacher, and offered information and limited cooperation for protection.
Zao's plans are all more or less centered on Uly and rise or fall with him.
Uly is also showing the ptoential to become one of the most powerful people alive and already has personal incentive to protect her.

Yes, Nilul may easily be socipathic enough to throw Uly under the bus and there is probably a limit to what she's willing to do, but by making sure Uly doesn't screw up here she's effectively making her hiding place more secure while also insinuating herself even more into his good graces and without actually harming her own interests greatly.
