[Exalted, ?] Most High

Indeed. 5 dot artifacts, while rare, can usually be found in the hands of the strongest Exalts. Thus, to be able to quickly close the gap, a N/A ranked artifact will be very useful , for even Exalts on the level of Lea and the Fairest, despite their power and resources usually do not have one. This is especially important since we have already spent a lot of xp, thus further slowing Uly growth.

Of note, there is one final consideration; pre-committing to Power and Security does make it easier to negotiate with Zao. Much easier, much less need to offer Ambition to Moon.

Well, the only thing that matters on that front is if you have enough XP to fill your training time. Excess XP is considerably less efficient since you'll have to flash buy with it anyway!

Hey guys what is going on here ....

Whoa another Waifu war. lol nope,

[X] Swift Deployment.

High school drama is so not what I want.

I have to say Swift Deployment is my second most favoured option, even if the votecount indicates it's losing by a lot.
Yes, staying with our friends is one of the major draws of disguising ourselves in the first place and we've payed a lot of XP already to maintain our position as a Dynast, but ultimately a large aprt of Swift Deployments benefits is that it offers the chance to give ourselves a large boost to our growth while also helping Creation and it's not actually a permanent dedication to being a murderhobo on Zao's payroll.

It's something we for the express purpose of powering up enough to actually be a credible player that can fend off people on the level of Anys Syn and once we are more capable of facing serious threats and our firends are more capable of defending themselves as well, we'd get the chance to link up with them again and advance our goal within the Realm.
It's not going to make us an Admiral as fast as Developing Connections and we'd only be seeing whoever of our friends accompanies us on the missions (which at the moment could probably only be Nilul and Ivory), but assuming we survive the Missions themselves, we'd end up a lot more capable of being an Admiral in such a hostile environment and it'd reduce the amount of assassinations that potentially risk our friends, give them more time to grow stronger on their own and discourage any moves against them because noone can know where Zao's pet Solar is currently lurking around.

I still prefer Connections, because I think it'd be more interesting from a narrative perspective, but Swift Deployment is at the very least preferable to ignoring Creationa t large, holing ourselves up in the Academy and hoping our enemies won't array enough forces against us to get past the defensive advantage in spite of the fact that we'll be hurting our growthrate just because we want more Slice of Life updates.
It's not like six months of intensive training and friendship before tackling the worst Creation has to offer is a bad thing, really.

We'll also get to burn through 850k~ xp without spending extra on flash learning.

Do you guys really want to take on the Bull of the North with little training, an inability to deploy your anima banner except in the most covert of situations and, possibly, an Artifact 3 sword?

Well, if Power and Security wins then I'm all for Pre-committing. Though, is that what the Favor From Zao part meant? That he'd be easier to bargain with here? or is it a more long-lasting alteration?

Yeah, if you want to fight the Bull of the North, probably by ourself, we need the 6-month training AND our sword. Even if the evocations aren't learned yet, it will help us immensely. I can't do crunch though, shame.

At any rate, I beseech everyone who want to optimise Ulyssian instead of others to add:
[ ] Retain the sword
to your vote.

Either.

You can deploy your anima banner any time you want, it looks like a Fire Aspect's as long as your disguise is up. It even feels hot, it just doesn't burn stuff.

Well, there has been some good points for just doing Uly's favorite past-time, that of course being: training, training and to mix-things up a bit, some training! With our XP situation being what it is, and with some of us going for giving Ambition away, Power and Security is beginning to look the most rational choice. The increased favor with Zao is a good thing too, with it being useful regardless of which Ambition -vote wins.

[X] Tell the Truth and give the Sword
[X] Power & Security.

Based on my current calculations, if you only buy Charms and Evocations, you should be able to exhaust your current total XP within ~2 months if you are also cramming to graduate within one year, or less than 1 month if you do almost but train!

Of course, this was a bit expected given that you have spent 745,000 XP on plot-related options so far. Still, you could grow at least three times as much if you had enough XP for it, be it from plot sources or otherwise. If you spend all your XP on combat relevant stuff, you would be a combat monster capable of going toe to toe with a Directional War God and winning, but that's nothing compared to Odyssial's true power during the a Primordial War!

Is only buying Charms and Evocations the most efficient use of our XP though? or is training attributes or abilities more worthwhile? Also, if we do hit the point where we've burned through our XP on Power and Security, what happens then? Does Zao say "Hm you've reached the point of diminishing returns, go face actual challenges in the real world (social or combat) now until you have sufficient experience I can hone you further?"

[X] Power & Security.
Honestly I think the training times are more valuable than the bonus XP gained by immediately hitting the field. Already have a bunch of XP that we are waiting for training times on, and the 2x XP cost for flash buying is wasteful when we have the time to train with this option.

[X] Retain the sword
I find it difficult to give up the shiniest of all shiny swords.

Yes, overwhelmingly so. At least for combat.

Who knows? They could just as easily conclude that you've gotten what you can from training and try to accelerate the timetable further, not that that would be a bad thing necessarily.

We've already gone over the reasons for this extensively, but we should definitely build up a buffer of personal power before hurling ourselves into the meat grinder. This does that and gives our friends the opportunity to grow alongside us. While Connections plays into our Dynastic charade, it doesn't play to Ulyssian's strengths, and in light of all the other options we've taken at the cost of personal power I'm reluctant to do it, no matter how entertaining the resulting shenanigans.

Also, I'd go with the Red Jade Daiklave. If we're pumping combat charms, it'd be nice to have a weapon capable of setting things on fire for the sake of the ruse, and I don't particularly want to disarm Zao or Ivory.

Well, it looks like Connections is still winning on votes, as well as slightly ahead on arguments. I think in an hour or so I'll eliminate the weakest performing option and we'll have the two survivors going head to head.
