[Exalted, ?] Most High

[x] Unnamed (Away)

the reasoning is simple. Away is actually a sword that Ulyssian can use without raising any eyebrows. Because he is already under suspicion for being a solar, no need to deepened that suspicious by wielding a solar's weapon.

In 3E, I believe DBs use orichalcum weapons. It's much rarer than jade, but in some circles it might even be seen as a status symbol. All Exalts can use all MM types pretty much.

As Rihaku said, defense is just as important as offense- if you have the power to slay any foe in a single strike, but no defense commensurate with that power, then you're just asking to be killed in my eyes.

Well, you do have access to your normal Solar Defensive suite, you just won't get additional defenses from your Evocations per se. Though The Best Defense is quite good!

[X] Unnamed (Away)

Kill the mouth of Peace, and watch as the Immaculate Order collapses. Kill a Deathlord, and watch as his armies collapse. Wave it in the face of Deathnights and watch them despair that they will never get a weapon as murderific as this.

Well, if you're going to target organizations with a lot of powerful Exalts, remember that the effects can be mitigated or averted via heroic action. Killing a faction head is much more likely to lead to balkanization and temporary chaos, rather than spontaneous disintegration of the entire edifice. But it is a superb tool at routing armies, causing courts to flee the palace, and so on and so forth.

The way I see it, each and every piece of our panoply has a focused purpose, representing an aspect of our greatness.

The sword to kill, the armor to protect, the crown to be crowned Most High, leader and builder.

[X] Ambition if the blade is left in the keeping of Pearl through the ages, driving even her next incarnations to greatness. Unnamed if the blade is kept sleeping within his Anima, waiting.

I think I would prefer that Pearl Ivory had something pushing her to be better at defending Creation though the last few hundred years.

Hmm, I think it's more logical for Odyssial's blade to not be designed to perform perfectly at all tasks, but instead to be optimized for the purpose it, and all other swords before and after it, were created for: the destruction of its wielder's enemies.

It's also more compelling if the blade does not perfectly echo Ulyssian's own thematics, just as Hatred didn't.

The garden of the academy were almost empty at this hour, most of the students staying indoors, either already asleep or still discussing the event of the days. It was precisely this topic that marred of a frown the usually smooth face of Mari Aust. Slumped against a wall of her dormitory, she vaguely heard the snores of Jael coming from the window above, but even the horrific results of her brother drunken revelry couldn't wrench her from her thoughts.

Mari Aust loved cards games , playing them had always been a fancy of hers and with time this peculiarity had acquired a new, more practical, dimension. The same way her brother's interest in all martial pursuits and weapons served their ambition, her proclivity was a supplementary stone put to the edifice they sought to build. In fact, they complimented each other, as siblings such as them were wont to.
Weapons, as all instruments, were built with intent, to serves a purpose, a mean to an end. Thus her brother often knew the answers to the hows involved in their line of work.

Her games taught others lessons, most had rules more or less ironclad, they delimited the space in which players could act, and knowing them was important, but more important than that were the players themselves. Their habits, their tells, the way they bluffed, sweated under pressure of became impassible when luck turned in their favor. How they reacted to loss or success, what the anticipation of either produced in them, what enticed them to play in the first place.

Being able to predict the thinking of their future adversaries, but more than that, divine the desires and expectations of potential patrons ? That would be the backbone of their future operations. If a mercenary company needed strength of arms to thrive and the best equipment it could afford, information and a mind to interpret and understand them what the ultimate condition of success.

Which brought her back to her present thoughts. She didn't anticipate Sesus Ullysian.
The mortal had not surprised her : the heights he could reach were unexpected as his showing against her brother indicated, but the character motivating his actions, the duel proposal among them, that was something she had little difficulty to theorize. Constructing a model of the likely causes of his almost suicidal determination was far from difficult considering his social position and his mortality, and so she didn't dwelt on it.

A mistake on her part.
One she intended to rectify now, at least in the small measures Zao and Ivory would afford her. Certainly she wouldn't be free to discover the intricacies of the plan behind this whole situation but the mind that could give birth to such a performance ? Bear the strain of such role and play it so masterfully ? That she would not be denied.

awesome swords are awesome...not sure what to choose yet. It seem that Ambition would be more appropriate if our blade was in the care of Ivory/Pearl.

Because I like it, the themes follow Odyssian, and it ties in very well with the reincarnation.

Seriously, I could see this being part of a secondary layer of the reincarnation plan. Even if Ody were to have his chosen memories wiped away, he would make sure he still survived in a sense by making sure his soul still strove the way he would have. Making sure that, while still their own being, his soul would strive towards ever greater heights.

Ambition is Hatred's analogue, though!

[X] The sword is in Ivory's possession and there's another artifact in our anima.

This really does seem like the best way to maximize resources. We can persuade her to give us the sword and still get another artifact or we can leave the sword to move her to advance our greater agenda while not being empty handed.

Even if night time wins over me time, this leaves open the possibiliy of still getting the sword.

It might turn out that having the sword 'ambition' helped along her decision to cover our exaltation if i'm understanding the effect it has.

So it doesn't get lost to the vote counter.

Makes sense for Ambition to be held by Ivory, while Unnamed is held in Ulyssian's anima. So I guess the question is, since it'll wind up deciding whether or not Ivory has the sword, is what the other Artifacts that might be in Ulyssian's anima? The armor, the ring, and the crown. Since as a practical matter that's probably what will decide the course. Though that said, my vote is for...

[X] Ambition
-[X] Sword is held by Ivory

Also there are some interesting implications to the backstory if Pearl's reincarnations have been using the sword and still acting in Odyssial's interests even through the Bronze Faction conditioning. Some top level "just as planned" there.

Holy shit. Pearl and Odyissial pulling off Xanatos Gambits on the Bronze Faction despite their deaths and Pearl's reicarnations getting brainwashed.

Perhaps that was why he sent Ambition to her when he does. Because he knew it would benefit him.

Fuck that would be awesome for the narrative. And goes along with our theme of finding a way to the point our fucking sword is advancing our ambitions alongside our old friend.

It's makes sense if a sidereal of endings was using Away. either in the anima or not, the sword kills.

We got armor to help odyssial defense. A Sword is created to kill.

Besides, Away is a fucking daiklave. what kind of solar uses a fucking long sword?

One who has no need to show off, because the radiance of the blade is enough?
