Lessons to be Learnt
[X] Training with Ozpin
-[X]Telepathy?
--[X] Ask him about Ruby's training while you're at it. Why isn't she being trained when she's already knocking herself out with them.
The past few days have taken a lot out of your body as you fatigue yourself in complex battles within your very mind as you both batter and lash out mental blows against one another. Years of development are covered in hours, each second a flurry of blows impacting against your thoughts as you parry them with but a thought. Your certainly equal the old man with strength, but he makes up for it with experience, each action bait for a trap, each new blow a lesson to be learnt.
You sit back on your reinforced chair, your brow drenched with sweat. Ozpin lounges back in his own seat, gasping for air and taking deep gulps from his mug like a man in need of water.
"Very good, I do believe that short of encountering a sentient force of nature, which I do believe is beyond my capabilities to mimic, your secrets will remain safe inside that head of yours. I'd say this is a good place to finish today's training lest we overextend ourselves too far. Then again, I'm sure you have at least one question to ask. About Ruby Rose I presume?" his eyes gleaming from behind the lens of his glasses.
"Should I even ask how you guessed?" you reply.
"I take the safety of my students seriously and though more excitable than most, who she has a habit of falling unconscious in front of is a very narrow list."
"The only question I have is why you haven't trained her to any useful extent. She obviously has some talent, a young prodigy if it is to be believed. I would assume that is why you had her advanced faster than usual for her age?"
"It is true that young Miss Rose has potential, but it could be argued the same of every student in this academy. This academy is to train guardians, to make them aware of the dangers that face us all. It is unwise to place burdens on those who do not realise how heavy such a responsibility truly is. She to learn what it means to be a protector before she takes up the mantle. She's protected by a somewhat shaky foundation and her ignorance of what she could achieve for now, but the very fact it took repetitive consequences when dealing with yourself is hardy a point in her favour. Inevitably there is only so much natural talent can propel her forwards. Sometimes things need to come at their own pace. What we are doing here has no such things as minor slip-ups.
Do you know the current largest cause of injuries within trainee hunters?
Their own weapons. (You knew that, but it seemed rude to interrupt)
It takes years of careful training to learn to use them as an exertion of your own body, to know exactly where they are in battle and to unleash them with devastating effect on your foes. Why would training your mind, something far more fragile than a body with aura, be any different.
Even if she by pure luck rushed through her training, mind fairly intact. Then what?
If I were to aid her to develop her gifts to their fullest extent then what would you think would occur? There is nothing more dangerous than a simple soul fighting for a righteous cause.
IF she was to look inwards away from the true threat, what would she see? Would she like what she was fighting for? A world where the rich and powerful step over the weak and voiceless? Would she fight those who disagree with the current order or would she realise their arguments have merit, with a little voice in her ear telling her to be the heroine? All the while the only ones who benefit from the chaos and terror of turmoil is the Grimm.
Besides, children should be allowed to be children. Your lack of choice in the matter is something I'm still uncertain I'll forgive your legal guardian for. Your learning years should be the opportunity to enjoy peace, not prepare for war. Not everyone should be raised to lead armies within their first decade. Let Miss Rose enjoy her years as a part of humanity while it lasts. In the end, it is not those we tower over as giants, but those we stand beside as equals that truly raises us high. Enjoy being a person while it lasts. Being a symbol is far from the worst fate, but it is rarely a destiny that guarantees a happy tale."
Trait gained: Telepath III- Well, short of fighting a god of some kind, you are pretty sure your mind is your own.
[X]Team RWBY Is out looking for Blake, you did get told you were helping, regardless of your thoughts on the matter.
-[X] Look for Blake with Ruby
You end up paired off with the short red-haired leader of Blake's team. At least she isn't fainting on you anymore. Even if she won't stop trying to touch Justicar. Talking of her missing team member, you suggested a low key search, asking at known providers of information, possible safe houses to be searched via stealth and surveillance tactics etc. so she doesn't panic and escape before Ruby can get her answers and at least talk to her. Apparently that would take too long, amateurs. Ruby on the other hand suggested an alternate stratagem.
"BLAKE!" Ruby cries out into the street.
"BLAKE!" you bellow ignoring the flinching of passers-by. You've been doing this now for 4 hours.
"ARGENT!" you hear just before you feel your body armour crack beneath her weighted impact, looking down to find Penny attempting to break your ribs via hugging. To this day you have no idea whether it was luck that she was paired with someone capable of surviving her, or misfortune it was you.
"Argent…why are you standing next to the girl who faints repeatedly within proximity to you? Are you unaware of the health problems that can arise from repeatedly falling unconscious?" she asks curiously, an edge to her voice.
"Oh I know you, your one of Argents team-members. Pleased to meet you friend." You flinch as Ruby sticks out her hand. Penny simply stares at it with shock.
Her eyes wide, she looks at you with a smile.
"SENSATIONAL, DID YOU HEAR THAT ARGENT, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT MY FRIEND NUMBERS WILL REACH 4 PEOPLE."
Looking quite pleased with herself, she turns to face a now very scared looking Ruby.
"DO YOU WISH TO COMFIRM OUR FRIENDSHIP?"
Ruby looks at you over Penny's shoulder for any advice. You simply shrug. The decision is out of your hands.
"Errr, sure?" she responds nervously.
"SENSATIONAL!!"
By now you are attracted quite a few stares. Goddam it Penny.
"We are currently looking for her teammate Blake, she seems to have run away." You explain.
"You mean the Faunus Girl? She was seen on Beacon campus camera's 5 minutes ago. This way." Penny beckons as she skips along back to Beacon.
"How does she know that?" Ruby whispers to you.
"Trust me, don't ask?" is all you can return.
Turns out Blake came back on by her own decision. You didn't really get the chance to talk to her or find out what she was doing, due to being dragged away a chattering Penny, squealing about making her newest friend. All you gained was a glimpse of her being smothered in the embrace of her blonde teammate, none the worse for wear, her amber eyes watching you walk away.
[X] You've received a message from that Faunus… what's his name, Sun Wukong? He wants to meet to talk about something important.
You meet in a café, overlooking the streets of the commercial district. It's nice. Very calm and peaceful, the white canopy letting in enough sunlight to illuminate the room. Not surprising considering the clientele tends to be of the variety that dislikes being overheard. If you strain your ears, you are sure you can gather enough information to take control over a sizable portion of the local underground within 72 hours. Though it isn't what you are after. No, you are here to listen to what Sun has to tell you.
Judging by the empty seat opposite you, he's late. Not the best start for your meeting.
Sun jumped upwards, kicking off the wall to pass other the heads of the crowd gathering at the other end of the alleyway. Those would be tough's had made him waste enough time as it was. Disappearing into the crowded streets, he wrapped his tale around his waist. No need to gather unnecessary attention, or at least eyes away from his abs. What? He had worked really hard for those.
Checking his wristwatch, he balked at the time. The guy could hit him hard enough to reduce his aura to practically nothing and that was by accident. Having him think he was stood up and his time wasted… well they talk about how stuffy Atlesian's are for nothing. Still he reached the café, complete with stuffy doorman. Now he could talk to him, explain that even if he didn't set up an appointment, there's a possibly angry giant waiting for him. But that would take up too much time, so drainpipe it is.
You notice Sun nervously peek his head up from behind the railing to your side. Gesturing the seat in front of you, he gulps and silently swings himself over, sitting himself opposite you whilst his tail places the drink from the table opposite into his hand. He downs it in one gulp before replacing it, the owners of said drink not noticing a thing, and begins.
"I know we started on the wrong foot"
"You mean you attacked by elbow with the side of your head"
"It took me by surprise, but not the point. I kinda need your advice. Normally I'd ask my team, but let's just say that boats weren't an option for them."
"God of the ocean my ass" he murmurs.
"I woudn't mind expanding my list of local allies in the area." You reply.
"I'm going to go out on a limb here and just assume you said yes. Is that cool? Cool.
Say hypothetically speaking, I have a friend who met a really cool girl. I mean she's amazing. She's cute, smart, confident and she seems to get me, you know."
Silently you nod, encouraging him to continue talking (You really don't get him).
"Well let's just say, still hypothetically speaking, she had a past in a rather large group of pretty bad people, who were more mislead and confused then anything according to her. Then she kind of dragged my friend into a coup of the local branch of said group. Meaning my friend is sort of involved hypothetically speaking in the running of a splinter faction of a not entirely lawful organisation of Faunus fighting against the original group of Faunus, but really has no idea how he became involved in the first place, said so and is now on the run from members who don't want him to leave, even if he never joined in the first place. Hypothetically speaking."
"Of course."
"Well, what I'm asking is, what would you recommend he do? I mean, I hear Atlas gets into fights with these sorts of people. My experience is more limited to Grimm and people armed with canes that shoot flares."
"Well, my first piece of advice would be to tell the local authorities about the local white fang presence. Don't give me that look, it's obvious. How many other violent Faunus rights movements do you know about that exist after the Revolution. I'd also not become any further involved in their affairs. Membership of said groups is illegal after all, carrying sentences varying from life in prison to death dependent of Kingdom. Of course if you do that, you'd be painting a target on your head as an information leak that needs to be terminated."
"Good thing this is all hypothetical then." He laughs nervously.
"Indeed" you agree, sipping at your hot coco. Ah, sugar.
"Want to hide in my closet till they get bored and forget about you?"
"PLEASE!!!"
Oh dammit, he's made you spill your drink. IT BURNS.
Relationships changed: Sun Wukong, Ruby Rose, Ozpin.
This week has been pretty eventful. Maybe too eventful for your liking. At least Penny's back though you are uncertain that will calm things. The next week you: (Pick 3)
[] Ciel's still stalking Nikos. The timid fan act has gone on long enough. Maybe you should give her a push. As a friend.
[] You found Nigel tied upside down to a tree with the words "Pancake Thief" written on his face along with a drawn on curly moustache. Maybe you should deal with the bullying problem.
[] Penny wants a day out with her new "BFF, but not like that because we are still best friends aren't we Argent?" Ruby, but apparently she's bringing her Partner along. So Penny's bringing you.
[] Sun has to come out of your room eventually. Maybe if you subtly deal with his pursuers, he can vanish more easily into the student population?
[] Ruby keeps bothering you for training. Eventually you give in.
[] Miss Belladona is hiding secrets despite making a promise of a fresh start. Time you have a chat with her.
[] Ironwood wants you to have a look at a site down by the docks. Something big seems to have been hushed up.
[ ]Ozpin wants to tell you a fairy tale.
[]Write in.
