Even Further Beyond [Complete]

If we're dropping Talentless and Full Bloom, then we'll have to pick three of
[ ] Incarnate
[ ] An Age of Glory
[ ] Trebly Bound
[ ] Heroic Passions

Heroic Passions seems the least horrible of these. Trebly Bound or Incarnate are about equally bad. Age of Glory means that we have more Scythe targets, which should be fine.
So, we'd pick either Trebly Bound or Incarnate. Incarnate makes our ability to build a powerbase limited, but if we pick Trebly Bound we will need every bit of time we get to get some passive defenses on the elves. I guess a plus is the distinct "deal with the devil" motif, with a summoned Cursebearer.
If Age of Glory synergizes with Incarnate and we have to face 5-6 heroes, including the nemesis, within a year, I think we can't make it. @Rihaku, is this a thing?
Anyway, I'm leaning more towards Trebly Bound here. Your opinion?
Of those options Trebly Bound seems a far superior option as compared to giving the heroes any amount of time with Incarnate, even if it allows us a glaring weakspot.

I can get behind the idea of throwing in a few more slightly lower heroes to the mix with Age of Glory if it means we're also able to reap them and wield their powers against the remaining. We're going to need to hit hard have no doubt, but that's why Cursebearer exists.

I just realize Age of Glory goes great with Reaper because it allows us to megaman their powers. We just need to separate them from the pack and pick them off one after another.

No, not really. Original - Even Further Beyond

E: Cursebearing alone makes us one of the top few powers on the continent. We're mostly a toy by dint of this job being a thing at all.
Yeah, but the whole point of taking Cursebearer is giving them a finger. Are we seriously going to be content with staying weaker than them after choosing it?

.. which is perfectly irrelevant because there is a world of difference between Diagram multiplying human mage and Diagram multiplying a damn Cursebearer.

Like, fact that you need middling levels to compare to Diagram multiplying human mage should be very telling.
Diagram can divine the future and teleport us around. The Divinities rewrite the destiny of the whole world and are nigh-omniscient. There comes a time when power simply substitutes for all those pesky laws of physics.

The Cursebearer with Cultivation would be in the enviable position of being supremely talented, having (more or less) easy access to resources and being capable of defending himself from pretty much everyone else.

Well I think a plan where we have literal win cards works well with the Greatness choice. Solves that issue of living long enough to make that talent go anywhere.

I just realize Age of Glory goes great with Scryph because it allows us to megaman their powers. We just need to separate them from the pack and pick them off one after another.
Scythe combines poorly with Cursebearer because basically nobody's a valid target for the Harvest.

Since naming plans is in-vogue, I give you:

[X] Plan Let's Just Shoot Her

[X] Diagram Magic (1 orb)
[X] Cursebearer (4 orbs)
[X] Unnamed
[X] Heroic Passions

Possible alterations to this include swapping to Diagram, or adding additional drawbacks to fit a Sign into the mix; Sword is my preference there. Just as a reminder, Reincarnation and Young Master are both trap options. Young Master doesn't work with Unnamed, which we have to take because it's a free orb, and it costs two on top of that. Reincarnation is marginally less of a crapshoot, but picking it with Incarnation is (ironically) a swift road to failure. The gains take too long to materialize, and aren't worth it if we pick Cursebearer anyway. Even without any of that the risk of internal conflict is too high for me to want to chance it.

-[X] Limit Break (1 orb) - At the cost of grievous harm to your physical and spiritual corpus, you can temporarily exceed your limits in a situation of great exigency, becoming many times more powerful than you would normally be. Each use dramatically shortens your lifespan. For a normal human, a single minute of use will reduce lifespan by 5-10 years.
-[X] The Sword (2 orbs) - The Sign of the Sword grants you the Blood Impulse. You will gain an intuition for physical conflict that well exceeds the humanly possible. This holistic combat instinct explosively accelerates your progress in any martial discipline and renders you immune to violent ambush. Magic is not a martial discipline per se, but differences in fighting skill can compensate for a power gap.
-[X] Immortality (3 orbs) - There are other means to secure longevity, but few as potent and reliable as this one. Eternal youth and enormously powerful regeneration are yours; you recover from the most grievous wounds in a matter of seconds. This will also preserve your life in the absence of sustenance. Should the Age be ended, however, the conditions of your defeat will still apply.
-[X] Unnamed - It has been requested that you be stripped of your name. You shall not recall it, not those who knew you in other worlds. You may refer to yourself by a pseudonym or abbreviation, but never a proper name. Names are important to the Divinities, and your lack of one may de-humanize you in their eyes, but tactically speaking this request is harmless. The Divinities loathe to think of themselves as bad people.
-[X] Trebly Bound - The elves know well that theirs is a nation in decline. In their desperation, they turned to a power they did not fully understand. Should you accept the offer inherent in their summoning ritual, you will be granted one orb's worth of power, but be bound in service to the Elvish state. The pathologically noble elves would never compel you against your free will, but should they fall then so too shall you.
-[X] Talentless - You are unable to perform magic of any kind. You cannot Cultivate, cannot perform Diagram Magic and cannot perform Binary Magic.

[X] Cursebearer (4 orbs) - Surely I've seen this option before, but I don't recall anything...
[X] Cultivation (1 orb) - In theory, anyone who has not practiced another form of magic can Cultivate! However, those with the talent to become relevant in battle are far less common. Spending an orb here will ensure a prodigious talent arises within you, the equal or superior of any who live in this age.

[X] Unnamed - It has been requested that you be stripped of your name. You shall not recall it, not those who knew you in other worlds. You may refer to yourself by a pseudonym or abbreviation, but never a proper name. The Divinities loathe to think of themselves as bad people.
[X] Heroic Passions - The maximum valence of your emotions will be greatly expanded, allowing your soul to safely contain more power. However, your notable traits will be exacerbated to tragic proportions. Imagine Achilles sulking in his tent while his countrymen die, or Agamemnon sacrificing his own daughter for favorable winds.

Yeah, but the whole point of taking Cursebearer is giving them a finger. Are we seriously going to be content with staying weaker than them after choosing it?

Diagram can divine the future and teleport us around. The Divinities rewrite the destiny of the whole world and are nigh-omniscient. There comes a time when power simply substitutes for all those pesky laws of physics.

The Cursebearer with Cultivation would be in the enviable position of being supremely talented, having (more or less) easy access to resources and being capable of defending himself from pretty much everyone else.
Yeah, if we go Cursebearer I definitely think we should spare the extra orb. That or go Sword+Incarnate and hope to be able to find them quickly. Taking three Curses though... how can we possibly expect to have our cake and eat it too after that? Certainly, defeating the Divinities and having a happy life after can't be possible through this - any Curse loadout that enables victory must lead to a pyrrhic one or the Curses wouldn't deserve the name.

[X] Cultivation (1 orb)
[X] Cursebearer (4 orbs)
[X] Unnamed
[X] Heroic Passions

Unnamed is basically a free orb, so there's no reason not to take it. Heroic Passions makes interpersonal drama a risk, but greater entertainment value for watching Divinities may buy us leeway. A protagonist with strong passions is also more entertaining to read about, which contributes to activity and quest longevity. These drawbacks are fairly safe to take, but I'm staying the hell away from anything that powers up the savior.

A Combat-class Cursebearer is a force to be reckoned with, but lacks the ability to improve on their enormous innate power. Cultivation is the school geared toward advancement, so we should take either Cultivation or Diagram Magic to offset the lack of utility & advancement inherent in being a Cursebearer. As for the Curses themselves, they are painful burdens, but this is our best chance at true triumph. The game is rigged in their favor? So be it. Don't play games with a chess master. Kick over the board and shoot him.

I would be willing to compromise on this and pick Diagram for better force projection if someone made a good argument. I proposed that build because an inability to advance was specifically cited as a weakness of the Combat class, and Cultivation mitigates that.

I agree with your basic concept. However, to me the most important differentiation between diagram magic and cultivation, is diagram magic's superiority in information gathering.

I expect a Cursebearer's biggest weakness will be in determining where and how to use their vast power. Locating our foe, and learning their plans will be the most useful thing a non curse power can offer.

Scales to further our informational advantages, and tieing ourselves to the elves to shortcut through the making allies phase, as they will know they summomed us as their savior.

Scythe combines poorly with Cursebearer because basically nobody's a valid target for the Harvest.

Since naming plans is in-vogue, I give you:

[X] Plan Let's Just Shoot Her

[X] Cultivation (1 orb)
[X] Cursebearer (4 orbs)
[X] Unnamed
[X] Heroic Passions

We probably wouldn't even break Qi Condensing stage or whatever after the first decade. Cultivation would be a waste of Orbs and a waste of our prep time.

Personally, i feel that adding Thrice-Bound, Epic Age and The Scales to this plan would improve it. It gives us more power from accepting the Elven contract, the ability to manipulate epic heroes into working with us, a supportive Imperial power that we can actually guide with superlative adminstrative and diplomatic prowess and even greater access to cultivation resources. The biggest downside is becoming racist against non-elves, loosing the game if we loose our Elven Empire and having to deal with other heroes, but i feel that these drawbacks are mostly alright, and in fact shift the narrative of the game favorably, to a more nation-building and grand diplomacy oriented playstyle.

Yes the chance to be an arrogant Young Master in a xianxia.
So that needs Heroic Passions for the minor slight triggers a feud which escalates to murder of their whole family.
I guess we take Sword to benefit from the constant battles to the death

Edit: miss counted added the Unnamed for the fouth orb.
Consider Reincarnation over Young Master so we don't need Heroic Passions? Being a Young Master without a Name who can't control his emotions is a perilous position and there are a number of votes for the following already:
[X] Reincarnation (1 orb)
[X] Cultivation (1 orb)
[X] The Sword (2 orbs)
[X] Unnamed

How would Young Master and Trebly bound work together? Would we become a Young Master of the Elves, or would we be reborn on this world as a Young Master and then summoned onto the same world? Curious on how this combo would effect the advantages/disadvantages of Young Master.

For people who say adding X or Y would make our build better.

Yes. Yes it would.

It would also make Destiny Sue far better as well.

Yeah, this sounds pretty solid.
Vaguely concerned that the elves will far from like our general terribleness, but tough luck, no backsies.
Major concern would be the heroine trying to diplomance them, though., which kinda autowins this and is probably why she made the request.
Time to manipulate the humans into isolating the elves and keep a sharp I on people trying to jump the quarantine?

Edit:
Oh, yeah this is unbalanced.
