Even Further Beyond [Complete]

Found a bit that may have clues on what Titanic Ascension means on wikipedia for random speculation/wild mass guessing.

Titan (mythology) - Wikipedia

One iteration of this story, of the Late Antique Neoplatonist philosopher Olympiodorus, recounted in his commentary of Plato's Phaedo,[8] affirms that humanity sprang up out of the fatty smoke of the burning Titan corpses. Pindar, Plato, and Oppian refer offhandedly to the "Titanic nature" of humans. According to them, the body is the titanic part, while soul is the divine part of humans. Other early writers imply that humanity was born out of the malevolent blood shed by the Titans in their war against Zeus. Some scholars consider that Olympiodorus' report, the only surviving explicit expression of this mythic connection, embodied a tradition that dated to the Bronze Age, while Radcliffe Edmonds has suggested an element of innovative allegorized improvisation to suit Olympiodorus' purpose.[9]

Yes. That will take time. LOTS of time. Do none of you realize that? The notes were for hastening alone. Not for both.

@kildar You DO realize that the sarcophagus will take YEARS at LEAST, right?
So? We are going to try for those levels of spells sooner or later, Blood or Fate for example.
If we focus on Time, then we can use our existing knowledge to speed things up.
Once we succeed then we will have all the time in the world to get the others.

Originally it is why i wanted to pick sarcophagus first and then create quickening, that didn't work :(

Besides, its not like i'm saying that we focus on in, but we should have a LOT of time to do things in. For example we don't need sleep and we have the Plus 4x from quickening.
SO we can use it to cultivate, to work on our diagram magic AND to do social stuff.
I honestly can't see a downside to the plan.

/TLDR: Spend X years now to gain X^2 Years later :)

After glancing over the discussion... we have, for better or worse, chosen to make Diagram Magic the mainstay of our power. Rihaku has said we can get another Ascendant Sign if we're committed; Blood would be good. The Ring may not have the Amulet's sheer speed of recovery, but true regeneration will allow us to exploit its metamagic to some extent. We cannot afford to ignore Cultivation, but let's not succumb to the temptation to overcorrect and go haring off down a different path out of salt. Beyond Points spent on Diagram Magic are twice as efficient. Going Even Further Beyond just once was said to greatly improve our odds of victory. Many Xianxia protagonists don't even have one equivalent mechanic! How much greater will the hour of our glory be, if we effectively spend twenty? Delayed gratification is the name of the game.

Anyway, segregating usages of our abilities or sticking with the more low-key aspects of Diagram Magic ought to let us slip under the radar for a while. Prodigious Might and Quickening are hard to distinguish from innate Cultivator abilities anyway. Suizhen might not be the most cultured of Cultivators, but she didn't even know what a Diagram Mage was, so there's wiggle-room for some development on the side. We can use our disguise spell from the Seeming Sign...
"Your 'disguise-spell' of the Seeming sign, a Battle Diagram of... one hundred and forty-two components, to manifest a hologram of light and vibration; accuracy, detail, responsiveness enough to fool a Cultivator's senses below the Dao-Cleaving Stage."
...to change our features up, making the Ring the only point of commonality between accounts. In battle, we should avoid leaving survivors to give any. This can be applied to Suizhen too, with greater Onerousness. The Empire is absurdly large - hundreds of billions of people - and we have the winds of Fate at our back, for now. I think we can afford to get a headstart while preserving most of the reputational gains from the revelation down the road. It may spawn rumors, but we can muddy the trail. Remember, most people will not jump to the conclusion that we're Thrice or even Twice-Great, for the simple reason that it's impossible.

I never said "Let's go all in on Cultivation".

I just said "Let's push Cultivation up Beyond Ego Barrier and stop for a while". Do just enough to exploit our genius but not so much that we can't effectively use it.

Spells - Wind & Water
Here is Nameless' current spell list.

Sign: Knowledge

Tracking Pulse (self-developed, Sigil, not mastered) - Essentially works like Trimurv's Greater Reckoning, but with a range of one kilometer and a duration of half a second. Not very effective at finding people beyond the Ego Barrier Stage, or Reagents suitable for the Reality Forming stage and above. Still, it's great for finding one's keys, or maintaining a encrypted library with no apparent lexical organization scheme.

Baenlixnaire's Deliberation (Grand, Mastered) - As per description

Sign: Seeming

Illusory Guise
(self-developed, Battle, not mastered) - For twenty-four hours, the caster or a humanoid target of his designation is clad in an illusion, a hologram of light and vibration that can mimic the form of any reasonable specimen in the humanoid spectrum. Cultivators of the Dao Cleaving stage and above may see through it.

Sign: Death

Mordant Fire (Sigil, Mastered) - As per description

Lichdom
(Grand, Mastered) - Immortality and a host of other effects. See Artifact (the Ring) for details.

Sign: Space

Open the Way (Battle, Mastered) - The character teleports to a location up to fifteen hundred kilometers away. Himself and up to four authorized individuals may be transported in this manner. Familiarity or at least general knowledge of the target destination is recommended. Repetitive casting of this Diagram quickly becomes progressively more onerous; fittingly, long-term transportation is best 'spaced out' over the course of a day.

Unlike many Battle Diagrams, this spell is quite difficult to disrupt. So long as the character remains conscious and in possession of their limbs, spell completion is likely.

Sign: Stone

Kleinvarr's Greater Refining (Battle, not mastered) - This obscure but versatile spell upgrades the 'quality' of a non-Artifact object according to an unknown but generally intuitive standard. The object must be a solid that the character can comfortably hold in both hands. Unless the character understands the object intimately, results may seem underwhelming. Once cast, changes are permanent and not subject to dispellation. Further castings have diminishing returns. However, Nameless believes that even the reduction of minor imperfections could provide a substantial boost to the effectiveness of Cultivation ingredients; he merely needs to learn to Cultivate and then ingest such reagents to find out.

Baenlixnaire taught Nameless this spell when the young scion asked for an effect that could improve Cultivation reagents. Though he has not accomplished much with it as of yet, Baenlixnaire recalls master mage-smiths using this spell to turn the crude mass-produced blades of their apprentices into shining masterpieces. Perhaps Nameless should try it on the Spirit Cocaine?

Sign: Force

Unravel
(Sigil, Mastered) - A precisely tuned onslaught of Diagram energy disrupts, dispels, and nullifies the effects of external magics. Swiftly rends the effects of other external schools. The arts of the Diagram are resistant to dispellation, but Sigils and Battle Diagrams can be weakened (if already cast) or countered (if being cast).

At this level, it is capable of weakening even the externalized Reality effects of high-level Cultivators. Such effects find their power roughly halved. Titanic extrusions may resist this.

Sign: Flesh

Alvan's Balm of Growth
(Sigil, Mastered) - Cast daily on a plant, dramatically improves its vitality, ultimate size, and speed of growth. It has been established that Cultivation reagents experience a substantial bonus to potency. Many daily repeated castings are required lest the plant begin to backslide.

Baenlixnaire taught Nameless this spell after Nameless complained that Kleinvarr's 'Greater' Refining was useless.

Ascendant Sign: Time

Haltsuphrect's Quickening (Battle, Mastered, Beyond) - As per description. Allows for perpetual x4 temporal acceleration of self (and allies, if willing to undertake strain) without side effects. Spell durations and recuperation from onerous spells continue to operate under objective time, though casting speed is accelerated.

White is 'good'. It's pure and clean and spiritual. Removing all spiritual impurities from your body, making you pure and clean, is very much a 'white' thing to do. Basically, we're running our organs through the laundry to get out all the stains.
I'll note that white also represents death, so this could be a critical stage which can kill people who undergo Cultivation deviation here, maybe.

...can we all appreciate that us whining about synergies here on sv to Rihaku was reflected in Nameless' behaviour to Bae...

I quite like the idea of the palantir tbh. I'm leaning towards only sacrificing one ego barrier's worth, then beyonding it the second time. This takes advantage of the emotional sacrifice of "the first time" approaching epiphany, and then throwing it away.

Quite potent. The second and third time not so much- diminishing returns means we should only do it once imo.

Making something to boost our divination sigil will no doubt expand that even further- rather then an artifact with an esoteric effect, we can specialise that artefact to boosting our already learned spell. This allows us to focus the energy to a singular purpose. Effects are sill unpredictable, yes but I expect there to be some magnification.

Doesn't that effectively lock us out of creating Artifacts until we get into Soul Chrysalis though? The big advantage of Ego Barrier is that there's no real penalty for cultivating and then sacrificing your gains to make a shiny new artifact. Meanwhile Organ Refining is specifically called out as the worst stage when it comes to cultivation backsliding, with future stages only causing problems if you go down a stage.

So we make the palantir an extension of our scrying sigl?
It lets us use it over a longer range AND lets us move the focus point?
Trying to increase how 'high' the items it can find might be a bit greedy though

edit: It would let us use it on the surrounding area and should let us cover 20-30kms per attempt.

It would be really nice to only have to spend 1.5 BPs to develop a Further Beyond Cultivation Stage
This, specifically isn't possible. The Ring notes we still need to spend same amount of BP to actually get somewhere, but that effect is doubled only for Diagram investments.
*You are still required to spend the Beyond points necessary to achieve the effect; Going Further Beyond still takes 3 points; Even Further Beyond still 10.

Btw, though Nameless is too rich to care, Alvan's Balm of Growth is worth major cash if you can demonstrate and advertise the effect. Something to consider if you start running out of money. Of course, it'll likely also attract other kinds of attention.

...That Alvar's Balm of Growth spell is pretty sweet. Observe my masterful plan to implement it optimally! Supreme cultivation power will be ours!

He wasn't addressing you, I think, but the general bloc that is calling Diagram a trap and pushing to make Cultivation the mainstay of our power.

With the Ring's Beyond point efficiency and discounted Even Further Beyond, I cannot in good conscience propose to spend all Beyond Points on non-Diagram pursuits and not focus on spell development.

Also, holy fuck. Half the Reality-warping effects of non-Titan Cultivators, and it's not even Archmage level spell yet.

I know that they have options beyond merely altering reality, but still.

Hmm. Yeah, I'm pretty sold on making our Artifact a scrying enhancer. That's gonna be a major aid in both power growth and plotting.

So:

• Cultivate up to Peak Ego Barrier
• During this time, attempt to internalize an understanding of reagents for the purposes of both Tracking Pulse and Greater Refining.
• Sacrifice our first touch of Cultivation to forge an Artifact for the express purpose of improving scrying.
• Recultivate back to Peak Ego Barrier
• Go Beyond? If Ego Barrier is about establishing a mentality, this might be a chance to mitigate/remove Spoiled.
• With remaining time, plot our Thrice Great reveal/social the bodyguard/study the diagram?

I know that they have options beyond merely altering reality, but still.

The vast majority of Cultivator utility powers are Reality effects (distinct from reality warping per se; the effects are entirely real and cause lasting consequences). For example, the Five-Elements Elementalism of the Yong Clan, which ensures their dominance over the physical world, is a Reality effect.

Yeah, it sounds good, but then you realize that by the time a Cultivator has powers that can be countered by it, they also have the power to walk in and punch your head off.

What happens if you cast it on a person?

Anyways, this spell reminds me of this SCP entry and its test logs.
I doubt we can comfortably hold a person in both hands, unless it's a baby or something!

We can Cultivate and stack buffs like Might and move at 4x speed for our level, so it's highly relevant for us.

I mean, Counters are theoretically part of Five Elements Style, right?

So anyone want to speculate on how our Rival might start developing in 4 years in response to how well we do?

If we've let our Father borrow the Ring or done something to put him in a very high position of power i can reasonably see her getting either a Truth aura that stops people lying in her presence or some sort of Virtue boosting thing that gives people a sudden attack of conscience to counteract Yongs standard modus operandi.
