To make people actually remember, here's it once for posterity: Minako is nonbinary and uses they/them. This message will be pinned so you people stop getting it wrong and pissing me off. If you get it wrong in the future I'm going to be much less nice, considering you have to scroll past it just to read the quest.

[X] Swap out members. (DIFFICULTY 1 - Swapping out members will let you find someone who might understand timeline manipulation a bit more; temporal powersets are rare, but there is one other Mitakihara magi that understands how timelines operate)

Let us hope our dice-luck stands.

I mean, being a Worm dork, my first assumption has something to do with picking the 'best' timeline out of two, or the like, or something like that. But, who knows?

Either way, it's bad news.

"We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you are studying that reality - judiciously, as you will - we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors, and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do"
Sounds like Coil.

With the talk about "names" I wonder if it's person-based, like they can select a person and then see a bunch of versions of them and gather intel that way. In which case, hey, it sure is convenient that they threw some disposable assassins at Sayaka that were immediately added to her collection.

It could also be a recruitment thing, since Yuuko claimed there were something like forty magical girls active here and that's way above sustainability levels normally. Maybe they're hunting witches in alternate timelines, artificially expanding their hunting grounds?

The thing is, though, Sayaka's name isn't a secret? So if it was just about "names" they could probably just spy on her... which would mean they'd have known about the incursion, or might at least?

So, whatever it is is clearly complicated in some way?

I think these are Witch Names they need.

It might also be related to that bizarre thing where Rin put her own name inside the Walpurgis seed. It's clear this group can manipulate witches in some way, maybe they can shape the witch using these timeline powers and use them as weapons?

If so, that's a totally safe power that will not inevitably backfire at exactly the wrong moment to hurt both us and Lady Rin's forces.

Changing the team wholesale and just leaving the team as is are both kinda courting disaster. This hits happy medium I think.

Oh boy timeline shenanigans of a different flavor. This can only end well for all parties involved.

That's the one that was made to Witch Out For Superpower As A Distraction, weren't they? Maybe Rin's name was there (alongside words like 'wretch', and 'sinner') because they realized they got duped at the end.
Just overhead, you see the grief seed descend. You catch it before it hits the water and give it a closer look. It's still the same three cores, two of the grief seeds fused together with the third haphazardly shoved in and misshapen. You assume that would be the dominant, unwanted flesh part of the witch.
Not that that wouldn't mean someone in the glow are abusing their powers to shove things where they are not supposed to go.

Takane glances between both you and Kyouko, as though she's expecting you to chastise your child for bad language.
This typo confused me quite a bit.

"Time travel's just a dangerous power in general. If they fuck with the timeline-"

"That's not a problem," Erika says before nodding to Ume.

Ume continues. "Timelines don't get altered. They split. What happens instead of a timeline rewrite or some butterfly effect nonsense is a timeline split. Different realities split off from a diverging point."
Damn it, now I'm reaaaaally picturing this Avengers style. And I know this reference has already been made.

"Why don't we just find baby X, you know, and..."

"OK, first of all, that's horrible..."

X={Kyubey, Rin, the big bad of the moment}

The rolls were almost the best they could possibly be, yet just about nothing was found. This calls for an specialist. Also, the meguca might feel a little too confident going back in, given how well things went last time. They have no way to know how lucky they were.

You are better off not knowing.
80% sure this means I don't know but if you ask I'll dip into my Lovecraft knowledge. :p

Personally I always kind of assumed that it was a kind of mind upload from whatever the incubators originally evolved as, although I never put any thought into if the rabbit cat is just what Qbey likes to look like, if its the most efficient or if its just a brain dead incubator grown in the lab for the purpose of being used as a puppet.

...okay, I'm just gonna say one last thing

The fact that this setting is so relentlessly hyperqueer is exhausting to me

And I say this as a trans woman

I get that representation is important and all, but this is just gratuitous and it's honestly jarring
