Dragon Summoning

A grappling hook? Really? Geez was this guy a metroidvania protagonist or something? Anyway.

[X] Feed the stupid sexy construction lad your heal pill thing. Giving a curse even a slight chance to set in is a terrible idea.

Oh, and steal the knight's grappling hook. It should still be on that bit of metal. For SCIENCE! Also spite... and hoarding.

We are not sure what will be the interaction between the pill and the curse. Can curse feed on pill's life magic or something?
Regardless,
[X] If there is no known cases of curses feeding on life magic or other weird interactions, risk giving the pill to Tieran-Sha. If there is nobody else to save, head to shelter, provided Seyr is capable of it.

[X] Look around and see if you can loot the knight's grappling hook.
-[X] Also think back to that history class about the relationship between humans and dragons that you definitely didn't sleep through.

[X] Get the heck out of the room open to air combat, if you need a place to rest find one that still has a ceiling at least.

The three of you need to get inside. Maybe get Seyr into the frigging professor's stronghold, assuming it hasn't been obliterated somehow. Also, you should probably check that it hasn't been obliterated somehow. And, if not, let them know about the great big hole in the arcology, the wandering dragonslayers, and other similar issues they may be currently unaware of.

oh, and one more thing

[x] lock the door if you are gonna/have to stick around for a bit for seyr or tieran-sha to recover, since, you know, that was what was mentioned right before you nearly got ya head lopped off and it might be nice to only worry about the hole to outside

Give Tien your supercharged pill for the curse. Grab Seyr, and run for the stronghold. If there was one dragonslayer, there might be others. None of you are in any condition to take on more.

[X] Get everyone inside, get to the shelter. The dragons there need an update, and both Seyr and Tien need more healing.

[X] Keep an eye out for anything you could use as a weapon should that knight or one of his friends return.

[X] Get back to the shelter for safety and to update them on the situation. Be careful though, you don't know if there are more knights around looking for a fight.

Tieran-Sha grabs them by the leg and shakes them like a doll. His lips draw back, and his jaw clenches visibly, producing a hiss of teeth grinding away at defensive spells. He looks ready to hold on and bite and bite until the problem's solved for good, but a flailing swing of the stranger's sword catches him in the back. Tier tries to shield himself with his wing, then grabs out with a forelimb, reaching for the sword. The armored figure levels their casting gauntlet. Tier's eyes widen. He whips his head around and hurls his opponent into the great beyond.

EAT IT-

The human launched some kind of grapnel. A glowing line connects it to their casting gauntlet.

Aw beans.

Zalan chucks another panel at them.

It collides with the stranger with a satisfying clang. Through instinct or sheer luck, it bisects the energy connecting the grapnel to the stranger. The stranger falls, and the grapnel a moment later.

That's more like it!

The armored figure fails to recover where Zalan can see them, but they've already arrested their momentum. Instead of being flung all the way to the ground, they fall straight down, and Zalan knows there's more arcology levels to land on, and more surfaces to grab hold of.

...it's always something. Well they're out of our fur for now, so time to move before they get their marbles back together.

[X] Get out of that room and seal the door with some kind of hull breach notice, preferably one that knight will have a hard time overriding (if they somehow manage to get back up). Then get Seyr to safety.

[X] Ask Seyr if he knows any locations where others may be that are nearby. And whether he he can help evacuations or if he should be brought to the others.

Aand just binge read that, and I absolutely love this!

Also, that was a quite exciting fight. Hooray to throwing panels when least expected! The bane of any boss battle... unless you are the boss.

And yet, it is only a physical wound. It isn't brimming with sickening energy the way Tieran-Sha's much shallower wound is.
[X] Make sure your very good friend is not going to die of a magic virus that will flare the moment you try to heal him. Also get out of the room and close the door! Uh, or maybe just close it. Shit is there any more of them oh no

P.S. dragons cute dragons cute dragons cute dragons cute draaaagoooooons aaaaaaaa

Update 16
[X] Take a moment to breathe while you can.
[X] Get out of view of the giant building destroying monster post-haste.
[X] unless you have anyone else to save grab your injured buddies and head for the shelter.
[X] Get everyone inside, get to the shelter.
Tieran-Sha and Zalan scurry out of sight of the airship-monster. Seyr is already starting to regain some mobility, but for now they drag him with them.

"We can't stay here," says Zalan. "We've got to get moving as soon as it's safe."

Seyr glances around skeptically. They're still in thin, frigid, high-altitude air, with the sounds of maneuvering war-dragons blowing in on the wind. The only reason they halted here and not the hallway is so they could have a door between them and another wandering slayer. Zalan's already wondering if even that's the wrong choice.

"Exactly how safe are you expecting it to get~?" Seyr asks with a crooked smile.

"...Let me start over," Zalan mutters. "I mean we need to wait til that patch has finished binding with your wound, so we can move fast without ripping it back open."

"Would a sling be of use?" asks Tieran-Sha.

[X] Try to avoid jumping over and kissing Tieran-Sha out of sheer relief.
[X] Feed the stupid sexy construction lad your heal pill thing.
"Uh," Zalan trails off, briefly distracted. "A sling might help, I think. But I'd really rather you take one of these Life pills instead. Just to be on the safe side."

Tier lets out a breath. "I... will multitask. But I give you every assurance that I don't require any such thing to fight off this curse." His annoyance vanishes and he gives a smile. "I will accept it as your hospitality."

As he hands Tier the pill and a bottle of water, Zalan thinks about gift-giving, and his blush deepens despite the chill. His fur hides it visually, but he knows Tier has a medical module active, so he searches for some excuse to turn away. His curiosity begs him to peer one eye around the ruined wall to look at the confrontation unfolding in the air...

Outdoors, glowing figures streak past the spiny airship-monster. One slows as it banks, letting him get a good look.

Zalan has always looked up to Tieran-Sha, but he's no dragon knight. Not really.

These are dragon knights. Bahamuti, judging by the armor and techniques.

Zalan feels a psychic noise reach his head. An alien scream radiating from the monster. Zalan tries to parse the impulses into information:

Confusion.
Territoriality.
My proximity is inviolate.

"Woah!" says Seyr.

"What, is actually happening...?" asks Tieran-Sha.

"I don't know!" says Seyr. "I wasn't trying to aggress it! I was just taking off to fly away and some- some insect things flew out of it and came after me. I tried to escape but they followed and blew up my whole lair..."

Zalan struggles to think of a response. Something sympathetic if not insightful.

Before he can, there's a second, stronger psychic broadcast. It's draconic, but with an alien power of its own, direct and intense enough to force meaning past any language barrier by abandoning every trace of nuance...

DRAGON WORLD.
MY WORLD.
MINE.

SUBMIT OR DIE IN FIRE.
These words, too, are only a loose translation of a wordless message, but Zalan can feel the unbidden avarice and the heat of that flame.

The message didn't seem to originate from the two Bahamuti he could see, but then, he only spotted them because they chose to be visible.

"Terrifying," says Tieran-Sha. "As though from the throats of God herself." He sounds reverent, yet ridiculously calm.

"fuck yeah," whispers Seyr.

If Zalan's head were clearer, he'd note that Tier spoke her true name before, but not this time.

"okay time to go," he says instead. "Hurry hurry hurry"

The three barrel into the hallway, eyes darting around for trouble. Zalan spares one last look backwards.

"...what's it doing?"

Whatever it is, the Bahamuti don't seem pleased about it.

A destroyer beam rages across the monster's carapace hull, exploding into gouts of incinerated flesh.
Zalan's running again by the time the noise arrives: A ripping scream of pure violence. The door slides shut, dimming the screech to a dull roar.

---

The three race down corridors. Tieran-Sha is running quickly enough with Seyr on his back that Zalan struggles to keep up. He wants to think it's the Life pill at work, but could be sheer adrenaline instead. It's slower going nevertheless. Every interior door is closed, forcing them to wait while they open. No doubt a measure against reports of intruders prowling the halls.

They leave the hostility of the outside world behind them, and are immersed in the trappings of comfort and security provided by the habitat. Warmth, soft light, and tasteful decorations. If it wasn't for the distant noise bleeding through the soundproofing, and the total lack of dragons around, it might be a comfort.

An alarm surrounds them.

"WORLD GATE EVENT ADVISORY WARNING. PLEASE SEEK SHELTER. PLEASE CHECK THAT YOUR PLANAR ANCHORING IS ACTIVE AND SECURE." says the arcology voice.

"What in hell is that. What does that mean?" asks Seyr.

"I think... I think the monster opened up a gate to escape," says Zalan.

"That's... good?" asks Seyr. "Hey I don't suppose you have one of those anchor things for me?"

"We don't have any, at all," says Zalan.

They keep moving.

A bolt of energy sails straight through the arcology's hull, dispelling any illusion that the layers of bulkheads between the three and the outdoors will protect them.

They wait for the ghostly energy to dissipate so they can pass. It isn't. It's getting worse. More and brighter.

"We... we can go around, maybe," Zalan says. "But even if we make it to a shelter they wouldn't open the door like this."

"Zalan..." says Tieran-Sha.

"...and even if they did that I don't know if it'll hold..." Zalan continues.

Tieran-Sha gently slides Seyr off his back. Seyr, terrified, rises to three legs. "Just sit tight," Tier tells him. "Focus on cycling your Breath. It may help."

Zalan is still talking: "We could- we could backtrack to the outer hull and fly away. I've still got my wings. We could try carrying Seyr together..."

"Listen, Zalan," Tieran-Sha says.

"Y-yeah?"

"I want you to know that I'm proud to face this by your side," he says. "I only wish we had more time."

Zalan stares at him.

"If I'd... if I'd just..." he stammers.

"Sometimes our best is all we can do."

[X] Hold him tightly. If you don't now, you never will.

Here's hoping this keeps us together after we hit the portal. I'd hate to isekai alone.
