Dragon Quest Online (SAO/Worm)

Instead of necro'ing or wondering if the quest is dead, how 'bout you check Vebyast's profile? This question has already been asked and answered.

Not dead. Only sleeping. I seem to have episodes of crippling writer's block perfectly synchronized with life events that make me basically incapable of writing. I intend to pick one or both up in the next couple months, once I'm done with this round of job hunting.

Mya, I just wanted to actually make some input on this quest. I read all of Armsmaster's Social Advice Quest (yes, ALL of it), and was disappointed to find it going into a multi-year hiatus, so I decided to read this one, and make a comment showing I was interested and reading. :/

Phew. Here I was worrying we were just keeping him really busy making votes in Ignition (not meant to be a plug, I swear).

Edit: I mean, it's not like we keep him chained to the keyboard (as far as I know), but a sense of obligation is a thing.

Nah, I wound up here following a trail from Ignition in the first place, if I went back to ignition because of that, it would be a sort of... plug ring? Kinky :ogles:.

And... is there something wrong with the PM system?

Necromancy is fine, as long as it isn't spam. Sometimes the difference between a dead quest and a really long post interval is because somebody bothered to ask.
Yup. In this case, to update what I said on my profile page: Neither of my quests are dead. I'm currently in the "negotiate a compensation package" phase of finding a new job after my entire office got laid off last month. I intend to get that done before Christmas, and then I'll do some writing over Christmas break. Assuming my family lets me step away from the stove, of course. :p

(and, yeah, procrastination and excuses...)

Well, none of the other interested parties can read a PM, unless I sent the same PM to every participant in this quest, but that's simply impractical.
...but the limiting factor of this quest is not votes. It's the author not updating.

I fail to see how necroing this thread helps at all with that.

Why is this even an argument? Lumi, you posted your comment, Wobs, you chastised the foul necromancer, and OP delivered with a reason for the delay and possible wake time. Is there really any more purpose to keeping it going?

The entire point of a forum is that you can get in a thread and comment whenever you like. Not doing so because it's been a few weeks since the last post is stupid.

How dare you do anything but write for our entertainment? /s

GL with the new job!

You see, the limiting factor for me is lack of both discussion and content. One can survive without the other, but neither is a thread dying, thanks to every person not talking.

See above, it's good discussion. Admittedly though, it is a derail. So... why the heck does Yui look like Asuna and Kirito's kid this early in!?!?!?

The random generator happened to do it is the easiest answer. You could also say that Asuna was also in the beta and Yui got the looks from them there. Or it's a heavy AU with Kirito as a dev and he made Yui based on himself and Asuna.

Luck of the draw works, but it feels a bit... lacking.
...
...
O_O
I just figured out how Dragon unscrews canon from its mid-game Kirito wankery. Dragon, as an AI, can aid Cardinal with the handshakes to save Yui, and even do the coding to compress Yui in the same speed; after all, it's just one big thought.

Personally, I just chalk it up to authorial laziness preference.

Like, what else is she gonna look like? A theoretical child of Armsy and Dragon? I assume Dragon has some type of human avatar image she uses if she ever has to Skype with video.

She does have a face, at the very least.

Asuna is established in the SAO: Progressive novels to have never been a part of the beta, although it's certainly possible this quest is an AU, or only in continuity with the core LNs.

I never read the LNs but AFAIK she wasn't a betatester in the anime. Which is why I said AU.

And yeah, the most likely answer is that our GM just decided to keep her looks.
She was never a beta tester. Before she got locked into SAO, she had literally never played a video game that wasn't on her cell phone. Confirmed from someone who has read all of the LN.

Yes. Even 16.5. Please don't ask me about that.

16.5? What the hell is- *googles* Well, hellooooo.

...don't look at me like that. You all knew what I was like when you got here.

Dude, curiosity didn't just kill the cat, it put it in a hydraulic press.
There is a really, REALLY filthy joke to be made there, especially given the context. But, in the interests of keeping my kidneys unpunched....
