Dragon Quest Online (SAO/Worm)

[X][Food] Order something
-[X][Food] One of everything!
--[X]No wait two of everything, that way Yui can eat too.
---[x]But what if you want more? Three of everything!!!

Consider the following scenario: You take a stance with your shield a half-second before the six-meter-tall minotaur boss hits you with a slightly rising low swing of his two-handed axe. Your form is perfect and you have excellently statted and well-chosen equipment, so you receive tolerable damage. One of the DPS darts forward to hack at the boss's knees and then retreats before it can bring its axe back down to ward off the attack. Seems completely reasonable, right? Just one problem: How are you still on your feet after the initial strike? In fact, why you aren't either blasting off again or peeling yourself off the ceiling?

In a real-world fight, a few centimeters or a few kilograms are an obvious and dramatic advantage, enough so that many sports split competitors into weight classes that are four kilograms wide. Bosses may be outliers, but SAO still routinely pits players against mobs that are three meters tall and weigh 200 kilograms. The game tries to be realistic but something has to give.

Canon had its solutions. I don't think that they quite work, as I've already stated - go to any floor boss fight in the anime to watch thirty-seven of the forty players in the raid group pose dramatically while they wait their turn.

I've tried to come up with my own approaches. We'll see if they make sense.

That said, the Starter Set One-Handed Sword that Dragon has equipped right now is completely boring: a straight, unadorned, well-balanced, simple and utilitarian knightly sword with a bit more than 70 cm of blade, space for one hand on the grip, a plain straight crossguard, and a plain disk-shaped pommel.

Dark Souls Player - "Ah, a classic. I'm gonna use this on the final boss."
MMO Player - "It's literally useless past level 1."

Someone people just don't appreciate the classics.

Don't you hate it when you're doodling on a bit of paper and discover that you've actually been writing scientific literature?
Hey, how do you earn that sort of special skill? I end up having to find ways to make my sentences take up more room. How the hell am I supposed to write an intro paragraph that takes up half the page with size 12 Times New Roman font, even with double spacing? I can barely get the intro paragraph to be a fifth of a page and always reach the minimum page requirement by the skin of my teeth.

But I wanted to get a warhammer!

Do it the night before it's required.

Hey now. Even that expie 'only' ended up with a very powerful scythe and a single sword-beam style skill. The weapon was not a rifle in any way, shape, or form.
...lolwut. I have no idea what you are referring to. Ruby says that during the first season of RWBY when talking about Crocea Mors, Jaune's sword-and-shield set. I have no clue what expie you are referring to.

...The quest where we play a Ruby Expie in SAO? I don't remember it's name, but I did not remember that one throw away line from the show at all.

My memory for such things is, admittedly, exceptional. If I've seen it, I usually get the reference.

It's a good thing the food on the 1st level is bland as fuck.

Given how she's never had any exposure to food yet, Dragon is liable to go into sense shock for a while.

Dragon should be able to figure out alot about the physics of this world by watching someone swinging an oversized sword around.

Kweh, this quest is promising, quite promising indeed. Also, it's a plus that I don't have to read EVERY. SINGLE. DAMN. POST, so I don't miss anything really. GFDI ArmsForum Quest. In any case, I'm not quite sure how to vote here. It seems that Yui might actually be a player here, since she couldn't access menus at all in canon before she regained her Admin permissions. Then again though, she's aware of the Beta, and where Dragon's IP leads to, so maybe this is before she crashes and reboots? But her appearance is clearly still based on Kirito's and Asuna's... -_-

First off: This quest is pretty dead.

Secondly: Necroing is generally considered pretty rude, and this is definitely necroing.

Nah, mate, this is SV, where the rule is you scowl at the necromancer and move along without bringing out the pitchforks and such.

That's not to say I wasn't hoping it was the server returning a ping, but my NerveGear hasn't fully timed out yet.

Necromancy is fine, as long as it isn't spam. Sometimes the difference between a dead quest and a really long post interval is because somebody bothered to ask.
Take Minuseven's gamer quest, for example. I tried to keep it up, got subsequently dogpiled, and that actually killed the quest.
