Dragon Quest Online (SAO/Worm)

[X][Update Action] You don't know. You're at your job, nothing is going on, and then you're waking up out in a field.
-[X][Update Action] Head to an area where you're less likely to be overheard, if possible.
--[X][Update Action] Or just ask Yui if there's some sort of a private chat system you could use; if there is, use that instead.

[x][Update Action] Let's just say that drunk you is kind of a wizard and you're not going to try to find out.

Clearly, the best choice is to combine the two:
[X][Update Action] You're not saying it was wizards, but... Let's just say that drunk you is kind of a wizard and you're not going to try to find out.

You know, Yui did say 'east coast' meaning the location of the game might have changed. Not really any groundbreaking differences to SAO but it would be cool if we got some worm characters here too. I'm not saying bring the whole cast, just the people who might go after a copy, like uber + leet or sveta.

As much I love Dragon, Sveta deserves a normal human body way more than Dragon ever will. If memory serves, she lives in constant pain, is stuck in a heavily reinforced hospital room, and has tentacles that smack any one that comes near her. She might even have some sort of medusa hair special skill but without the snake mouths. Or maybe snake heads would be one of the top upgrades?

Dragon-Sveta cuddles would be the be the best cuddles by virtue of both of them being cuddle-deprived. Make. It. Happen.

... And? Do you have anything meaningful to add to the discussion in this thread, or is this just a "Watched!" post?
Your comment isn't exactly helpful either. And you know what else isn't helpful? my comment.

Except I could talk about... I got nothing.

WAIT! this SAO's East Coast server offers us so many Japanese players to interact with, why's that? *whew*

I'ma guess that they're all local to the East Coast in this canon, likely having grown up there instead of in Japan. Likewise, you get people with odd nicknames wherever you go online, so it's perfectly reasonable to have a buncha weebs with Japanese sounding names as their usernames.

Given the utter lack of material I don't see that there's much to discuss. We could hypothesize for weeks about how Dragon will interact with SAO, from character interactions to how similarly Golem Control will function to Dragon's suits in Worm -- will controlling them be more like programming, or a matter of exerting concious control?

I could write an omake, but I'm intrigued, not enthralled.

I could vote, but I don't make a habit of doing so.

So I simply posted. I conveyed information to a user I'm familiar with from other threads, stating that I find his new quest interesting. I did so in a manner more personal than dropping ratings, and less wordy than would have been required to convey the information in a profile post or private message.

I don't quite understand the cold shoulder I received in return, but I'm quite capable of returning it. Now if you'll excuse me, I have business with more pleasant individuals, nyan.

I find it interesting how people are assuming we're still in the Wormverse. Given how far behind the internet is in canon, and how little seems to go into the entertainment industry I find it doubtful a project on SAO's scale would see the light of day, even if it were tinkertech. And even if it did exist, surely Dragon would know about such a breakthrough?

My guess is that, if we find Worm characters, they're gonna be AU and likely powerless versions of themselves.

Well, how would we stop being in the Wormverse? I mean, it's not exactly set in stone that we haven't left the Wormverse, but Occam's Razor definitely suggests keeping that as our base assumption.

We haven't found much evidence one way or the other, yet. Closest thing we've got is that there's NerveGear on the East Coast. Was SAO canonically even released outside Japan? But even if it wasn't, that still leaves our location pretty open to interpretation.

Presumably, we'll receive some more context that will clue us in on what sort of world we're in in the next few updates. I mean, the Exposition Fairy is right there. :V

Actually, based on the way Occam's razor works, the two possibilities are that SAO-verse Aincrad was brought to Earth Bet, or that Dragon was brought to SAO-verse Aincrad. One is far more complicated than the other, seeing as how the majority of them aren't uploaded to the game itself.

They can't have been the same world from the start, because then Dragon would have known about them.

Third possibility- Kayaba is an Earth-Aleph(or other) tinker, and dragon is connected by some form of dimensional portal.

EDIT: Okay, fine it doesn't really fit in the Razor. It's still a definite possibility.

The Wormverse is very flexible because it has many different earths, and we know for a fact that some are pretty much like ours and SAO's. So Occam's Razor: we are in the Wormverse AND the SAOverse, in an Earth with little to no exposure to capes, ten years after the Golden Morning when a might-be-Tinker invents a revolutionary game.

Maybe Kayaba invented Cardinal by reverse-engineering a Dragon suit that had gotten stranded in that world when following Scion during the Golden Morning: canon SAO would be set on a parallel Earth to the one we're in where Kayaba didn't have the guts to make players for Dragon, Yui and other AI to control.

I mean, for example.

None of you who know about SAO have called Alivaril a Beater. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

For those who haven't seen the series, Beater was a derogatory term used to refer to players who had played the Beta of SAO and thus knew a lot more about how the game worked than everyone else, who used that information to gain unfair advantages. It's a mix of 'Beta Tester' and 'cheater', and was originally directed at Kirito, who had reached floor 10 during the Beta, something no other Beta Tester managed, apparently. Because of course he did. Anyway, Kirito apparently decided that he needed to take all the hate for the Beta Testers onto himself, so he started bragging, and thus the term was born. Because, again, of course he heavily influenced the lexicon of the players stuck in the death-game.
