. . . Why is so many assuming that our, horded, and unshared technology, alone, is the basis for our Civilization's Tier rating? It is specifically stated that the General Education is considered, first, then it's population size, the distributed wealth of the civilization, and more to determine a civilization's Tier rating. It's even been quoted, and pointed out multiple times... How many more does it need to be pointed out that tech alone doesn't a Tier rating make?

So seriously people. Stop pulling a Kinsey and constantly repeating each other about how America is Great, shall always be victorious, and "God blesses us alone." It's starting to make me not want to read this thread any further. And I'm an American. Granted I believe Republican Politicians are the root of America's problems... but that's also just my opinion. You don't see me trying to shove it down others throats. So seriously, stop insisting that America is the only civilization on Earth and that Earth should be Tier'ed based on America alone. IF we were we'd probably be the only "planet" Tier'ed zero. Cause America is quickly devolving into a 2nd world country these days. And we still make threats to everyone with our military, even when there are three countries that can kick our asses, individually. And would return us to the stone age if just two decided to have some fun at our expense, together.

So, can we please stop patting ourselves on the back, and get back to the thread. It's been derailed long enough for the past two pages trying to "justify" Earth's premature "advanced" Tiering. That I might add is a fictional rank, in a fan fiction story. And would be a topic best debated in a Vs. Thread, in it's dedicated forum... You know, not this thread.

Since Earth isn't unified yet maybe its a 2 or a 3.

I mean what rating do you give a world that nukes their own planet? :???:
One on the Kardachev scale?

I'm not sure why people want to apply an internal evaluation in the Wu Empire to Earth as a whole. It's pointless for two reasons. A) Earth is not part of the empire. B) Earth is not a unified polity.

You might be able to use that rating on single states, but I doubt it.

Who were patting ourselves on the back? Most of us thought 1-2 with a few thinking 0 or 3 and one guy thought a five or less, the only guy who thought 6 had reversed the scale. Personally I think we are a 1 possibly 2 with reasonable technology but without the education or social advancement to use it safely.

Also I don't think a planet needs to be united, just coprative.

Take a chill pill dude, the scale is 1 being to worst to 10 being the best.

I don't see how people thinking that earth is a 2 or 3 is "patting ourselves on the back".

not related to the current conversation and just the thread: One of the things I like best about this story is that it accepts that most situations cannot be solved through large quantities of violence and that being an OP SI protagonist means that you are a amatur wrighter with immense power that you have no idea how to use, mistakes will be made. And even if you have centuries of experience you still make mistakes, smaller ones and you recover better but never perfect.

Alas, chums, this is Spring Break now.

So I'm back home and doing stuff RL...so Updates are to be slowed considerably.

Still, I'm not stopping this story, it's just a little more work doing this multi-k chapters from non-Network perspectives n' such.

Have fun on spring break.

Look forward to the update when you are ready.

. . . wait. There is an actual language spelled Tagalog? I would ask "what" but for some reason this feels more like a "The More You Know" moment.

The Philippines' national language is Filipino.
The actual name is Tagalog.
Nope! Filipino and Tagalog are two separate languages. It's a common misconception. You should google it, mate.

Actually, Spctaco is right. Filipino is Tagalog, named such so it would reflect the name of the country (Philippines is pronounced with an F sounding Ph). Simply put, out of 7 other dialects, Tagalog is the national dialect of the Philippines. I should know, I speak it and actually lived there the first half of my life.

Nope! Again, this is a common misconception amongst Filipinos. The same as how a lot of people think the anthem's name is Bayang Magiliw instead of of Lupang Hinirang.

Don't believe me? Here's a wikipedia page for it. I know that wikipedia is rather dubious, but it's directly sourcing The Constitution of The Philippines 1987.

Heck, Here's the proper government page for it. Filipino is not just a variance of Tagalog(though it definitely originated from it), it takes influence from the many other languages the country has. The two dialects are very similar(practically almost one and the same), but ultimately they are separate entities. I'm correcting you guys because I made the same mistake.

I realize this is rather pedantic, as lots of folks just tend to mix and match words from different dialects as long as it makes sense. Whatever, I guess.

...From the very same webpage you sourced:
Filipino ([ˌfɪl.ɪˈpiː.no]; Pilipino [ˌpɪl.ɪˈpiː.no] or Wikang Filipino) is the national language of the Philippines and is designated, along with English, as an official language of the country. It is the standard register of the Tagalog language, an Austronesian, regional language that is widely spoken in the Philippines.
Filipino has been variously described as "simply Tagalog in syntax and grammar, with no grammatical element or lexicon coming from ... other major Philippine languages," and as "essentially a formalized version of Tagalog." In most contexts, Filipino is understood to be an alternative name for Tagalog, or the Metro Manila dialect of Tagalog.

I have a lot more to say really, but this is not the place for it. Leave it be or post evidence that can't be used against you.

Hey, man, as I've said, it originated from Tagalog.

Ahem.

National Commission for Culture and the Arts said:
The 1935 Constitution Article XIV, Section 3 states that "…Congress shall make necessary steps towards the development of a national language which will be based on one of the existing native languages…" There are two significant words in the statement, namely existing and native. The initial step made by the national Assembly was the passing of Commonwealth Act No. 184 (1936) that created a national committee and empowered its members to decide on which one of the existing native major languages will the national language be based. The committee members were eminent linguists and each one of them representing a linguistic group or one of the major languages. They were Jaime C. de Veyra (Hiligaynon), Santiago Fonacier (Ilocano), Casimiro Perfecto (Bicol), Felix Salas Rodriguez (Samarnon), Felimon Sotto (Cebuano), Cecilio Lopez (Tagalog), and Hadji Butu (Maranao-Maguindanao). Mr. Jaime de Veyra was the chairman of the said committee. A year later, four more committee members were included. They were Isidro Abad (Cebuano), Zoilo Hilario (Pampango), Jose Zulueta (Pangasinan) and Lope K. Santos (Tagalog).

Also, funny that you find time to ignore the second part of that paragraph, yes?

From the same place you quoted said:
. As of 2007, Tagalog is the first language of 28 million people,[6] or about one-third of the Philippine population, while 45 million speak Filipino as their second language.[1]

Clearly, there's enough of a distinction there.
