Deus Pater (Exalted/40k)

Well, so much for this quest, I suppose. Any successful persuasion will be taken as proof of heresy. Anything except hardline acceptance of the most zealous, self-destructive form of the Imperial Creed will be taken as proof of heresy. Acceptance will be taken as misdirection.

Welcome to the Imperium of Man, go directly to Hell, do not pass go, do not collect 200 thrones.
yes, that is entirely correct, @Maugan Ra made this option specifically to fuck people over, because he hates his players, if we fight them they kill us, if we persuade them they kill us, if we comply, they kill us

this is because he doesnt want to run the quest, he just hates us specifically and wants us to play along until he randomly fucks us up

or maybe this is not the case and he genuinely wants to tell a story where it would be dumb we died within the first 37 pages

[X] Comply. You will go with the Sororitas, and trust that this will not mean your doom.

Using social-fu on disposable minions will just get this upgraded to a kill order.

Okay, this is a good point. Or at least make convincing Canoness - not easy as is - harder.

Also, seems we were too late wrt SoBs anyway and should have just visited Navy while we were up. :/

If they decide to detain us for an extended people, we're dead. Persuading them we're the real deal through using our abilities on them will just be taken as further evidence that we're a dangerous psyker using our powers to mind-control people. Trying to resist will earn the enmity of the Sororitas and probably get us killed. This way at least we have a chance that we'll be able to show our legitimacy soon.

To be honest, I like this update. It's a hard choice, but gliding by without difficulties would be boring. It's naturally they'd get suspicious with how we've been performing miraculous feats of persuasion.

I don't do trap options.

And let's be honest, if you didn't run into some kind of reflexively paranoid gun-toting opposition while presenting yourself as anointed by the Emperor I might as well not be running a 40k quest at all.

For the record this has more to do with choosing 'Exile' as your option for the Inquisitor than it does choosing the Sororitas second. Watching a veteran member of the Ordo Hereticus turn and walk away like that set all kinds of alarm bells ringing.

Changed my vote.

If we really can't shift any of them then we go down swinging at least that way we die as a martyr.
[ ] Resist. Ten to one, and they are veteran warriors besides, but you… you have the Emperor's Light, and you will not go meekly to your doom

'it is better that one hundred innocently fall before the wrath of the Emperor than one kneels before the Daemon' This is official Imperium policy for dealing with possible taint. If we go down there under the guns of the Sororitas we aren't coming out again. Period. It doesn't matter if they find us guilty or innocent we'll be executed either way just to be 'safe'. So frak the Imperium's nihilism; she thinks we can control minds; she is wrong. What we are capable of his so much MORE than mere mind control.

As tempting as it is to try and sway the Dialogus alone doing so will be taken as evidence of taint. We need to turn the rank and file against her.

Odd that killing him would have likely made people less suspicious. But that is the empire of Man for you.

To be fair, this isn't as bad as some think it is. The fact that they even are allowing for the possibility that we are exactly who we appear to be means that they're going to break out the actually good methods of verification, rather than the half arsed ones meant to get a confession from someone already condemned to death.

And that very much means that we're looking at more of a week of observation and interrogation rather than years. Because it would very quickly become clear that Ignatius isn't affected by the sorts of things that burn even the mightiest daemons and most pious psykers.

And at that point, we win, because they've already allowed for the possibility we are what we claim to be.

The price here is time, not death. And one week is fairly affordable to get one of the finest fighting forces in the Imperium in our camp, especially since we also secured the local priesthood first.

[X] Persuade. You will convince the Sororitas that such a course is perhaps unwise and certainly unnecessary. There is another way.
  • [X] Would you doubt your sister and the Entirety of the Planets Priesthood would you doubt those virtuous Souls who witnessed the Emperor Saving me from the Inferno Guns Blast with his Holy LIght simply out of Stubbornness, when I can think of no such way that I who have never shown such ability to do could survive a point Blank shot. Would you doubt me who has Served the Emperor Valiantly and Piously for Decades. If you think on these and still wish to test my Soul I will do so gladly but you should first reflect on the entirety before bending Conclusions to fit your veiw of the World As was said in the terran Aprocypha, "The Problem with people is not that they refuse to see a certain Conclusion but that they bend the facts to fit what they want to be true and in turn destroy truth itself. TO find the Truth one must be willing to put aside prejudice for the Sake of truth"
  • -[X] If we fail to convince we go with hero

For the people voting Persuade, what exactly do you think is going to happen once the Canoness realizes she's lost contact with the strike team she sent to investigate a potential rogue psyker in a position of authority?

Keep in mind that what we're seeing here is massively discrete and deferential by the standards of the how the Sisters usually operate.

-[X] Know that I respect the situation you have been presented with. Were I in your place, even I, whom you know to be merciful in word and deed, would be hard-pressed not to detain and verify. But I ask also that you respect mine. I have been given this blessing for my words, and my actions. I cannot, in good conscience, sit in silence and isolation when there is yet more work to be done in His name. Have you ever had reason to suspect my message, my faith, or my flock before the Inquisitor's declaration, in all my years as Cardinal? Have not my years of loyal service in His name earned me at least the opportunity to give all I can, as long as I am able? I will not resist your tests, but I beg this, that I not be delayed from my works.

Fucking. Crush it.

Yeah, I halfway expected this. Omega psykers are a thing.

That said, Living Saints are also a thing in Warhammer 40k and the Sororitas will NOT game any kind of test to force us back into the party line. Don't assume the fanatics are the same as the corrupt, if we show legit proof of having the Emperor's favor we could claim lime jello was the new sacred ointment and at least half the Imperium would toe the fucking line.

It is unlikely the Ecclesiarch gives a flip yet, the Inquisition has de facto limited authority over us, and the rival nobles and clergy of roughly similar rank will KEEP THEIR HEAD DOWN because if we are anointed a Living Saint picking a fight is really dumb. This may not be easy, but 'Comply' isn't a trap option beyond wasting time to do stuff in the greater galaxy- but it's time we should be able to use to hone our powers regardless.

I mean, we haven't even seen a lighter yet.

Yes, if it takes a week its a good deal.

But I certainly won't rely on the Sororitas of all people acting reasonable in any way, including timeframe.

This could be alot worse. Also remember that FTL travel is fucky. It will take TIME for the inquisitor to reach Terra so we have time to be proven pure by the sisters.
