Deus Pater (Exalted/40k)

[X] Approach the Sisters. Doubtless the Sororitas know of what has happened by now, from your adoring guard if nothing else. It would be best to speak with them soon, before they can form their own opinion of these events in total isolation.

We've gotten the support of the spiritual side of The Emperor's Faith, now we need to get the support of the martial side, before they form their own opinions and either call for our head or start to actually worship us.....

The update before this mentioned that we don't know the name of our Sister Fan. I"ll take that as a hint.

The rub is that our critic had a point about mutants in 40k. We should work to put our work where our mouth went, but it would also be nice to have armed sisters on hand if it comes out our mutant recruits are chaos-tainted or genestealers.

Super minor thing, but shouldn't this read (1;5), assuming i'm reading it right and it is showing a reroll?

[X] Explore your Potential.

People if we keep on blindly using our powers through nothing but Instinct it's going to come back and bite us on the ass. We need to understand what we're doing in the limits of what we're doing we already over exhaust ourselves once. You have no idea what else we might do that wild effective could cripple us for days.

You got a point there. We wouldn't want to approach the Sisters, and then they demand demonstrations and mechanics of our Emperor's blessings.

[X] Speak with the Sword. While you are in orbit, it would be a good idea to reach out and seek connection with the local Imperial Navy detachment. They are in possession of enough firepower to level all of Sanguis if the need should strike them, and it is better not to have such a dire threat hanging overhead.

Alright, I'm going to be blunt. The Navy detachment has better things to do than sit here, we seem to have made a good impression on the local bolter bitches, and frankly there's always the chance to acquire mutants. I want a potential Extreminatus here for exactly zero more minutes, and equally importantly I want any pirate or Chaos threats to hit the aquilla-shaped void speedbump way the fuck away from our planet so we've got prep time.

lol this landslide, okay since it doesn't look like there's going to be a huge throw down over this i think it's worth considering a few things:

1. We still, in the near future, need to have another public address to get as much of the general population as we can on roughly the same page. To sketch out in simple, succinct terms where we're going, what the overall plan is, what everyone's pulling towards. I'm feeling pretty good about this because not only does it play to our general strengths but it also comes with definite bureaucratic backup, state-sanctioned revisions of existing dogma, all that good stuff. So there's real meat and muscle behind the changes and we can make definite decisions instead of necessarily being restricted to broad platitudes or saying something then having to double back/modify it once the Clergy balks since, hey, they're mostly onboard now.

2. Travel times are a significant Thing in 40k iirc so it's going to take time for the news to proliferate out, but eventually we're going to have to grapple with the fact that Sanguis is in for a nasty economic shock. This is a Shrine World that relies on pilgrims and sweet, sweet, pilgrim dosh (plus Sanguinus fanboyism and love of his relic-figmas) to drive its engine. Once that begins to dry up, either because the planet becomes a warzone or we're declared under official sanction or the whole "glowing golden arch-heretic" thing, we're going to be racing the clock. Sure it might pick up again in the future, especially if we don't fucking die, but this is an obstacle we need to keep in mind going forward as we work to consolidate shit.

3. The deep organizational divides between the Ecclesiarchical government at Sanguis and the Imperial Naval base at Solus actually work in our favor 'cause I all but guarantee that the Navy wasn't told shit beyond "big deal going down, Inquisition is in the system, you might be needed" and then "O-oh I guess the Inquisitor's leaving???" they're in the dark, and uncertain I think. They won't move against a Shrine World unless they have fucking iron clad backing from sector-if-not-segmentum command but are otherwise on their own. Which is good! I think I mean. It gives us time to get our shit in order.

we seem to have made a good impression on the local bolter bitches,

hey what if you didn't, like

call them that

[X] Explore your Potential. You just swayed an entire room of priests and turned a woman who sought your demise into an ardent follower. The experience awakened something within you; by taking the time to reflect, you feel sure you could unlock even greater abilities yet.

So, I definitely understand wanting to approach the sisters, but this might be more time-limited than that.

I genuinely can't tell if I should rate that funny. Are you making a very sarcastic joke that the Sororitas aren't exactly the questioning type?
hey what if you didn't, like

'Nuns with Guns' is generally accepted to be the less-disparaging term in this case. If possible, I'd suggest you use it.
Personally I think it's pretty funny. I wouldn't be surprised if a chapter somewhere called themselves that colloquially.

As much as I'd like to walk amongst the lepers, mutants, and abhumans to spread our message of human fellowship, I think it's a good idea to speak with the sisterhood first to make sure they don't get ideas about burning same lepers, mutants, and abhumans.

Worth noting,

As much as the navy represents a vague threat of possible orbital bombardment, maybe, if they're clued in enough to know what's going on, the Sisters are probably the biggest personal and political threat to Ignatius.

Like, when some priest starts making power grabs and preaching hetorodox teachings, and maybe glowing with 'the Emperor's holy light' (read: manifested abilities as a latent Psyker channelled through a lifetime immersed in the Imperial Creed, and/or may already be a Daemonhost), it's the Sisters who gear up and put a stop to that shit before it snowballs into another Goge Vandire. This is their job. We've impressed the one Sister who's been at our side, yes, but the rest? Left to their own devices, it is entirely likely they'll default to their usual modus operandi as the Ecclesiarchy's housekeeping service. Remember: just because your church and/or flock seem clean is no reason not to give them a good scrub-down with cleansing fire. It can always be more on fire.

They're also uh... not pushovers. They're the heavy hitters of the Imperium's domestic paramilitary forces, the folks you call in when even the army of Judge Dredd knockoffs with homing shotguns and tanks can't handle a situation. We're a Solar, yes - we're also barely out of chargen, and should not expect to socially steamroller people for whom stomping on demagogue psykers and hidden daemonhosts and nested cults with supernaturally persuasive rhetoric is their stock in trade, nor should we expect our office to insulate us very much - the Sororitas are deeply enmeshed in the doctrinal politics of the Ecclesiarchy, and often act as the hatchet women of the clergy. 100%, they will have protocols for what to do if a Cardinal or similarly highly ranked figure goes rogue or becomes corrupted but is still outwardly pious and loyal enough that simply offing them is considered politically unwise.

So, yeah, probably a good idea to have a sit-down with them early and try to get them on side. Note that means on side not just with us, personally, but also our approach to rule - the Sisters of Battle are like, Black Templar level devoted to their ethos of "PRAY, KILL, BURN, PRAY, KILL, BURN!" and even if we can earn their loyalty we are absolutely going to have to worry about them cracking open the economy-size barrels of promethium for anybody who displays insufficient devotion to our word, plus everybody within a ten meter radius of same.

The Sisters and the Navy both need to be managed, we might as well start here, secure the planet and take care of the group that's inclined to like us.
