Deedeequest or The Wonders of Mundus: Be Careful Who You Pretend To Be - A Genderous Isekai Quest

How Dice Rolls Work
Character sheet is here.

Dice rolls are 1d10 + Stat + Proficiency + any applicable bonuses, such as Boons.

You may spend 3 Tension to Overdrive for a retroactive +5 to your roll (a Determination Overdrive), or +3 to an ally's roll (a Teamwork Overdrive). I will also automatically overdrive to avoid exhaustion or unconsciousness.

It is possible to critically succeed (on +5 on skill checks and +10 on combat rolls) or critically fail (by the same margins), but rolling a 1 or a 10 does not automatically crit in either case. It is possible to crit retroactively by Overdriving.

Your stat bonuses have names:
  • Vigor grants a Strength bonus.
  • Agility grants a Dexterity bonus.
  • Spirit grants an Aura bonus.
  • Mind grants an Intuition bonus.
  • Resolve grants a Guts bonus.
Dice are rolled on a first come, first serve bonus. You only roll for Deedee.

Immunity to ambushes and improved healing/opening attacks will be important in keeping us alive until we can confirm the consequences of death here. Hopefully it's more Log Horizon (Respawn at a Safe Location) than SAO (You die in the game you die for real!).

I agree that Log Horizon style resurrection would be better then strait up dying but it could be viewed as a longer slower sort of death due to the loss of memories that it causes.

I always took it as speeding up the natural process of losing memories over time, and thus an unfortunate, but acceptable price for resurrection. I forget the exact process of it though, if it was only taking important memories/there was no way to protect precious memories, I could see people having a bigger problem with the system. But I doubt that forgetting "Which street the coffee shop you used to work at when you were 18 was located on" would be missed too badly by anyone.:V

Of course, if things like safe zones and non-combat areas exist here, then it would be possible for players to not have to worry about dying constantly. And if it's resurrection at a price rather than full death, then only the players who repeatedly die over and over would be at any major risk of personality death. :thonk:

We'll be able to find out more once we get to the starter city, on both the consequences for dying and if safe zones exist, as we'll likely meet other players there who know more. I would be surprised if no one died before making it there, whether on their own or as a part of a party. We'll have to be on the lookout for shocked/traumatized people, as seeing someone die in front of you is a harrowing experience, and actually being the person dying even more so. iirc there is no pain-reduction, so you'd feel the whole process of your death and then resurrect.😬

...Actually, that's a good point, regardless of whether there is resurrection here or not, therapists are going to be in high demand. Whether it's seeing your buddy die or dying yourself, PTSD is going to be endemic to the player population, on top of everything else they may be going through....Oh shit there's definitely kids here isn't there? :o

[] Plan Reactive Healer
- [] Mouse-Hunting Ears (3, you cannot be surprised in combat, a Boon of Sylphan)
- [] Quicksilver Nerves (3, you get +2 to Initiative and have faster reactions in story, a Boon of Sylphan)
- [] Gryphon Kick
-- [] Knockback (1. Increase the knockback of Gryphon Kick. No direct extra damage.)
-- [] Power Up (1. Improve the damage of Gryphon Kick.)

- [] Healing Breath
-- [] Healing Zephyr (1. Improve to become an AoE heal, turning it to Healing Zephyr.)
-- [] Power Up (1. Improve the base healing of Healing Breath.)

(intention: avoid getting surprised; if we can get and keep the initiative, we're more likely to avoid getting hurt. And when that inevitably fails because the enemy still gets a vote, boosted healing to keep everyone upright. Also boosting Gryphon Kick because it does seem to be our default opener.
Wait, we're allowed to have more than one tech improvement per tech?

The short version is yes.

The long version is that Deedee went broad, not deep, and didn't hit the cap on how powerful her Techniques could get; there's one additional level of wiggle room for most of them. If there are additional limitations, I'll always let you know when I present the ballots.

Alright, in light of that I've edited Plan Stealth Healer to be more healy by moving the power boost from Gale Blast to Healing Zephyr.

[X]Plan Lean In

Because I do like taking other Least Boons and Flamma's a fun god.

As Talia can probably tell you, I have a thing with running healers in Valor. And being very sad when the Valor errata had to nerf healing because it could overextend fights too much :(
Given this, I have to support:
[X] Plan Reactive Healer

I've been thinking (and overthinking) a few aspects of Mundus' history lately, so you'll get to see some wierdness next time.

On the healing nerfs, and also some Alesha fanart

Specifically, they had calibrated healing on there being one or two healers in a party of 5, rather than the entire party taking it, which they didn't playtest for and which happened disgustingly often. They also had to nerf healing so that you couldn't reduce the Stamina cost down to zero because people kept asking if they could spam healing techs instead of taking a full rest, which the rules weren't designed for; this is why the character sheet here assumes that using healing magic is a part of why short rests heal.

I presently use the nerfed value. If it turns out to be too low I'll raise them to the pre-nerf value.

Apologies for that tangent. Have some art.

Hm... well, DeeDee seems to be the primary healer, but we've seen some healing on 4 of our 5 party members. :V
