As a complete aside... do you really have to use Twilight as an example? I sat through that bullshit after a friend dared me to try and marathon the series together. EVERYTHING WAS BLUE.
Like, sure, it made money, but I think it's fair to say anything would have made money under the Twilight name.

Sure, but even so... that applies to the whole series, she clearly gave the fans what they wanted, and they swapped out directors to a male one anyway. Ditto 50 Shades.

Like the article mentions, there's also Mamma Mia (a 600 mil movie) and Wayne's World. ... there is not a lot of women directors who get given big movies to begin with.

AYYYY! Do we know much about the sequel yet? I've been somewhat out of the loop on films lately.

Not really. There's some rumors it'll be another period piece, just in a different period, but there's a ton undecided.

Obviously, she'll direct, Geoff Johns will help write, and Gal Gadot will be Wondy, but everything else is up in the air.

I'm hoping for a Wonder Woman/Atomic Blonde crossover somehow. My heart would melt.

Atomic Blonde had enough tone problems trying to be both Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Borne Does Berlin and you think adding on Superhero film would help?

"At this point of the film the LSD dispensers activated and we just did the classic Willy Wonka tunnel scene in repeat. It was a smash hit."

Does Diana get to be Roy? With the hat?
Roy isn't on the Rebirth team. At least as of now. He's on The Titans (Not the Teen Titans).

The rebirth team (as of the first volume) is Jason Todd as the Red Hood, Artemis, and a Bizarro clone. Jason pretty much helps become Bizarro's Father figure, it's great.

Jason also doesn't kill anyone in said volume, not even Black Mask.

I suspect you already know the answer to this rhetorical question, friend.

Oh, wow, I am not up to date on that. Interesting!

Legion of Superheroes!
I would willingly waste my money on a LOSH film that was terrible even knowing beforehand it was terrible!

Do not test me! I am the greatest threat to the money management industry to ever walk the Earth if neglected heroes are involved. :V

Wonder Woman In Space! Wonder Woman In The Future! Wonder Woman In The Tower Of Fate! Wonder Woman In World War O- oh.

(P.S. am I sufficiently conveying how much I loved this damn film?)

I think the reason why they made Aries have that ridiculous mustache (seriously, it bothered me the whole film) is to differentiate between him and the other character he was playing around the same time in Fargo, someone pretty... distinct.

It annoys me how every time something about WWI comes out, people rush to berate it for treating the Germans bad. "They weren't Nazis!" they say when they were planning to ethnically cleanse millions of Poles and Jews out of their conquered territory to make room for Germans and their strategy for dealing with partisans were to destroy the civilian population (like the Rape of Belgium).

Le sigh. Come on Cameron, stop being so butthurt. Wonder Woman isn't about a normal woman, it's about an Amazon woman coming into the normal world and having to adapt and be a hero, rather than the naive woman she was before. It's a completely different story than Terminator, and wouldn't make sense with someone like Sarah Conner.
He also seems to miss the significance of Jenkins' directorship of a big tentpole blockbuster like this, which is a bit disappointing.

Naturally certain parts of the internet love him for this "incisive and anti-PC agenda observation" *cough /tv/ cough*...

I've said it before, but Sarah Conner's main motivation is protecting her son, and protecting their children is probably the most overplayed motivation for women in action films. Seriously, family and motherhood are the themes that almost surround women in films.

Then there's the fact that Sarah Connor's badass cred comes from her completely disregarding any hint of feminity, which is fine, there's room for female characters like that; the problem comes when you insist that only those types of female characters can be badass. In that case you're not dispelling gender roles, you're just creating new ones.

This was literally the subject of my dissertation.
