DARLING in the FRANXX - it's literal

I do wonder why a Franxx can't be driven by one person and the dummy component in place of the other, even though I can easily imagine Dr Frannx settling on the live pair design for the personal philosophical reasons he outlines in episode 1.

Having said that, this is a convention going back at least as far as Five Star Stories and its Headliner/Fatima pairs, and maybe we'll see some uncrewed units deployed later on that fill the venerable role of automated warmachine bogeyman, in the vein of Mobile Dolls and the MP Evangelion series.

There's going to be a "don't do that or you'll go blind!" joke in there somewhere. Either that or because this has Gainax folks the side-effects of operating a Franxx alone is similar to breaking the 400% synchronization in Evangelion, you become one with the machine...possibly for good.

For like not even ten seconds sure.

Well, yeah, but Claudette was asking why they can't, and Doctor Squared was talking like they'd missed it, but actually a pistil can. Even an elite like Ichigo can't do it for very long, and it put her under great stress.

The why of that is of course a mystery to be revealed at the Great Crevasse

fwiw I don't think a stamen could pilot on their own at all.

Make Oni a boy and this trash coulda been about a homosexual discovery in an oppressive, hetero world. But nah, I guess.

We've already seen Ichigo operate Delphinium alone.
Whoops!

I can only suppose that a dummy organ (?) can't fill the role when piloting a more complex machine.

Maybe that's what 02 was supposed to be except she turned out to be more of a hand full than Dr Franxx intended, perhaps with a side order of feature creep as the project went on.

I don't think the training robot that Hiro tools around in actually has any relation to the Franxx. Like it's just a regular robot, not a scaled down Franxx. The controls just look that way to emphasise how out of place he is on his own.

You're very probably right.

I just wanted MP Franxx that are huge predatory manbots so we can have a traumatic final two episodes tbh

Edit: They could even be called FranXY, just to be really on the nose about it.

So, is nobody else curious about those meteor that Hiro and blue-girl saw together at the end of the episode? I mean, meteor are rare, and while I can give a single shooting star a pass we got lots~ more than that in those shots - all trailing green behind them, too.

Methinks they're from a space colony, possibly where the adults live, and that they were drop pods or some other orbit-to-surface vessel.

I figured it was a mass landing, yeah.

Under the brave leadership of young Garma, Earth Attack Force has begun the liberation of the Earth Sphere from the perfidious cult of Papa :V

EP 8 Preview: Boy X Girl

>The beginning of puberty marks the start of noticing new little things;
>Our partners whom we're unable to understand,
>The uncooperative struggle to understand oneself,
>The large gap between us we've always felt up until now;
>All these various thoughts and feelings we've taken for granted as "normal" up until now have begun to change.
>Now as though they are "abnormal".

I'm always ready for Darling of the Rebellion, which is likely to happen in the second course if not sooner considering how Hiro kept doubting Papa's authority once around two episode.

Aldnoah had some cool robots, but from what I recall of the first season (dropped it on season 2) the plot... was very much not the best. Was that about right?
It was decent, but the plot shits itself in the last few minutes of the first season in one of the most nonsensical ways I've ever seen.

While I'd thought the first part was a little weaker, it did get picked up a bit by the second half and 002 remaining best girl. Frankly, so long as 002 keeps being best girl I'll happily keep watching even if the show ends up a tire fire as she is a fun char to watch.

We're a third of the way through and the pace still feels a little sluggish.

Character drama is good, but I think the writers could do with moving things along now.
