DARLING in the FRANXX - it's literal

I'm not going to lie, I like the Mass Production Franxx units more than the gang's Ace Custom designs. The visors covering the eyes, and the grey colorscheme make me think of a more femminine version of the Union Flag from Gundam 00.

Also according to the manga those guys at the end are the Nines, an elite unit that is under Papa's direct control. Hiro is probably Nine Iota, if you take 016 and flip it over it becomes 9Ɩ0 with the 1 looking like a lower case iota. Squadron 13 having a pair of codes in the teens, all Ace Custom units, etc. while somehow being a green, newly-formed unit is a little weird, especially considering that Hiro thinks that he's suddenly become able to pilot...while apparently being someone else. It all sort of reminds me of that show The Prisoner.
I hadn't caught that they were the Nines. Given that, I sincerely doubt it's Hiro, he's just as green as the rest of his team so he wouldn't one of them already. Blonde was certainly referring to 02 since it sounds like she's usually fighting with their unit and he phrased it as if 9i was supposed to be with them and the Council of Facemasks said she needed to get back to the front.

Or Hiro was intended to be recruited into the Nines. He is green but at the same time, he is proved to be a stable partner for 02, already a teen code(which is considered to indicate high level of skilled) and is already considered to be a prodigy among the children.

I find that doubtful since Ichigo is also so way up in number, but more importantly because the aforementioned council called him a tainted Stamen and seemed to actively want him to be away from Zero Two.

Or maybe it's better to say that on the chance that that was the original plan it was scrapped for cause and the Nines shouldn't have any reason to believe anything's changed?

I was hoping Hiro might go full oni but then we're only a quarter of the way in there's plenty of time for that to happen.

I just want to see cute horn touching okay

I think you meant to link to this not to what you actually linked to. Though if that is how combining in Franxx works it would be beautiful.

I am still surprised that no one died went to the hospital in this episode. They set up cannon fodder so well and then they lived. Well played Franxx, well played.

By the way I do have to wonder how much they are going to pull from The Red Oni Who Cried. The more they pull from it the worse things get for our blue oni hero.

Whoops, I really should check the links before posting, although combiner Franxx would be pretty neat.

On the Red/Blue Oni front, I'm wondering if whatever is infecting Hiro is going to be related to the status of his relationship with Zero Two?

Random idea but it seems implied that lower numbers are important somehow(likely due to piloting ability), so it raises the question.

If so, who or what is/was Zero1?

Subaru on the other hand, let his silver hair fetish get in the way of good taste.
Yeah, I mean it's not like one kept brutally murdering him through several loops based solely on the suspicion that he might possibly be related to the Witches' Cult and the other saved him, healed him herself or at personal cost to herself, and gave him shelter when he was effectively now homeless and broke.

The problem isn't Subaru Forester not liking Rem so much as it is his very unhealthy fixation on Emilia. Though the fact that he clearly had feeling for Rem and rejected those feelings not because you know she killed him over and over again but because 'I mustn't run away' and the the elf fascination didn't really look good on him.

Luckily Hiro and Oni actually have a mutually unhealthy relationship so he is several steps ahead of Subaru Forester in his relationships goals. :V

It's a beach episode. Nishigori you goddamn madman.

Jokes aside, I guess this ep would provide the infodump on the stage of the Earth and why everything turned into post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Well, I'm all caught up.

This hasn't really grabbed my attention, honestly. Fun if somewhat derivative mechanical and costume design, good action animation most of the time, and the Klaxosaurs look good even if they aren't particularly threatening.

I might watch a few more episodes but I'm losing interest.
