Dark Magical Girl Quest

Part of me feels like that's a recipe for tragedy, seeking relationships and wanting to connect with people but only being able to do so by force and maybe not even understanding why this affection isn't returned. But tragedies are entertaining, and the story hasn't even begun yet so there's still plenty of room to decide what to do. Maybe we'll be able to overcome the challenges both internal and external, but maybe we'll falter and meet the same fate as the many tragic villains in Magical Girls shows that came before us. Or maybe we'll do neither and embrace the role of a true villain, claiming victory for the side of Evil! It's all up in the air right now.
If nothing else, nothing says we are required to avoid directly attacking Magical Girls. We just take a big penalty, and part of my plan is that we've piled on enough Magical Attack that we should actually be able to have a meaningful effect by just powering through. Won't be easy, but I think it makes for a better storyline that way, and if it goes poorly, it just adds to the story if the MC tries to fight directly but screws up because of her Sin.

Otherwise, I think that Music + High Empathy will lean itself well towards being a buffer for the rest of the team.

[X] Plan: Lazy Idol Doesn't Feel Like A Scavenger Hunt

Still gotta give this more thought but none of the appearances on offer quite click for me, so I'm putting this image forward as my mental image for the protagonist:

or alternatively this, if the personality is a better fit:

I think that would be a nice one for the Love/Lust plan in particular, they very much give off a "Shy, repressed emotions" kind of aesthetic. Not to mention the awkwardness of falling in love with the people you're fighting.

I will say the mental image of our MC being a cheery idol by day while work towards the downfall of civilization by night is awesome as far as I'm concerned and would prefer not to have a heel face turn because there are very few evil quests around.

[X] Plan Something Different
-[X] [Gender] Boy
-[X] [Appearance] Short, brown hair and a pair of amethyst eyes in which one can sometimes catch a glimpse of melancholy
-[X] [Origin] Cruelty - Kids can be so cruel, can't they. You know that better than most, don't you. Nerd, freak, creep, loser, you've heard them all and more besides. You bear the scars from their violence, both mental and physical. It got so bad, you were sent to a new school to escape. But you can't escape. Not really. Not when their taunts are carved onto your soul and their violence is carved into your flesh. I wonder what you'll do, with a dose of power and the opportunity for revenge… (1 Might, 3 Skill, 10 Intellect, 5 Empathy, 7 Soul)
-[X] [Sin] Pride - You're simply the best. Better than all the rest. Or so you think. That unearned arrogance of yours is almost amusing. Almost. Maybe you'll prove yourself superior to mortals but you will always, always, be my lesser. Boost: Plus five to all stats. Spell: Untouchable (Completely ignore the next attack that hits you). Flaw: Shaken Confidence (When you roll a crit fail or when an enemy rolls a critical hit on you, the boost from Pride for the relevant stat(s) become negative until you pass a roll with that stat(s).
-[X] [Club] Anime and Manga: +3 Empathy, +2 Soul
-[X] [Club] Magic: +3 Soul, +2 Intellect

Decided to throw my own plan into the mix and to see if the thread is interested in a different experience than usual. SInce people are split on the Boon, made two versions of the plan (one with no boon, the other with Justice as its boon, since it fits the Origin). Opinions are welcome.

There are enough poor little meow meow protagonists in villain quests, now it is time for us to be a genuine menace.

I said it before in my reasoning but I'll advertise it again here: I'm just imagining a scene of a grumpy couch potato of an idol being forcefully dragged across the city by their clubmates to track down urban legends, playing the straight woman since they've got no time for any of this crazyness when they could be laying around doing nothing the whole day, all while having to hide from the rest of the club that as a magical girl they arguably are an urban legend themselves.

[X] Plan Ginger Supremacy
-[X][Gender] Female
-[X][Appearance] Cold blue eyes and fiery red hair, the latter of which is long and free.
-[X][Origin] Pretense
-[X][Sin] Wrath
-[X][Club] Martial Arts
-[X][Club] Magic
-[X][Name] Kizuko Rekkano

Gender: Save the author the hassle of modifying the name of the Quest.

Appearance: It's fucking Asuka. End of discussion.

Origin/Sin/Clubs: Alright, my thinking going in is to have the Sin correspond to the dump stat of the Origin, then use the Clubs to further shore things up so that we can specialize as either a combat monster or a dedicated spellcaster, letting to lower of Skill or Empathy be the dump stat. So, my focus was on which Sin that provided a singular boost had the most tolerable and/or fun looking drawback. Potential Origin/Sin pairs were therefore Isolation/Gluttony, Abandonment/Envy, Cruelty/Wrath, Tragedy/Greed, Indoctrination/L***, Pretense/Wrath, Insanity/L***, and Ignorance/Greed. Of those, the thematic synergies of the Wrath options sang to me, and of those two Pretense looks like a better combat monster. With both Skill and Empathy coming in strong, though, my focus was on shoring up Intellect and Soul, as well as reinforcing the investment from Wrath. Fluff wise, I'm curious about magic, and have a "moral" imperative to put any Asuka lookalike in at least one physical competitive extracurricular.

Name: I once attempted to write a Naruto fic that updated 100 words a day, set in Kiri. Two of the supporting cast members were a pair of twins, Kiriko and Mizuko. During Kiri's graduation murder ritual, one of the twins died off camera, and the surviving twin insisted on being called Kizuko. Kizu, according to Google Translate, means wound. Rekka apparently means "raging fire," and appending a "no" at the end basically makes her name "wounded girl of raging fire," which feels hilariously extra to me.

[X] Plan: I will punch you.
I like Sloth and the scavenger hunt. Plus the idea of having a slothful person who's main way of attacking is punching just sounds like a really fun character to play.

I'm turning down any plan that picks Sloth: I'm very careful about Sloth-oriented personalities for anything involving roleplay. It's harder to justify being proactive in the story when the character I'm playing as just wants to stay at home and do nothing, and I think that issue would still carry into the quest medium. Maybe RexHeller could manage it, but that's my concern.

You see it constantly on your way to school. People with their casting gloves on pulling things from nowhere or talking to people miles away or using the wind to push them along as they sprint for the bus. Each casting glove has multiple pockets in the back in order to fit in Rune Stone, little plastic discs with a microgram of Miraculite in it. Miraculite comes in different variations that make certain sorts of cantrips easier or even give you the ability to cast rare ones. Not like full on Spells or anything, but stuff that would be impossible with a basic Rune Stone. While your current glove has four slots, you only have a single unaligned Rune Stone slotted into it, the basic one that comes standard. It's good enough for casual use and it's not like you can't cast a wide variety of cantrips with it. Some people say that your personality and character traits inform how easy or how different types of magic are for you, someone with a fiery temper might be able to cast a lighter cantrip easier for example, but you're not sure how true it is.

A bunch of exposition about what Miraculite can do but not where it comes from. Is it made of dead magical girls? Long dead dinosaur wizards? Ground up angels? I don't know, but there's probably a twist in there.

I like the name @Lepidoptera made up (Kaworu Ai) much better than any of the alternatives so far. @Chimeraguard if you're willing, my one request is that you swap that name in.

[X] Plan The Power of Love IT'S LUST!

And then my own pitches:

[X] Plan Thespian with Self-Esteem Issues
-[X][Gender] Girl
-[X][Appearance] Write In.
Violet eyes and thick dark hair styled into a small ponytail.
-[X][Origin] Cruelty - Kids can be so cruel, can't they.
-[X][Sin] L*** - It's lust. It's lust, damnit! It's a mere biological imperative. It's obsession, it's desire, it's an urge to fulfill a collection, that's it! That's all! It has to be. I refuse to believe that one of my minions is motivated by something so sickening as love. Especially not for those awful, annoying Magical Girls. (QM Note: It's love. Mods, please, it's love. The yuri is pure, I swear.) Boost: +10 Empathy. Spell: Beauty (Enchant to target to temporarily love you. Effects depend on the degree of success.) Flaw: I Cannot Harm my Beloved: -10 to any roll to harm a Magical Girl, physically or emotionally (brainwashing doesn't count, right?).
-[X][Club] Theater: +5 Empathy
-[X][Club] Anime and Manga: +3 Empathy, +2 Soul
-[X][Name] Kaworu Ai
-[][???] LOVE
(Theater to me feels the most natural for a person who wants to develop her ability to project confidence.)
If I didn't have any competition this is the direction I'd take, a Woobie who's weak to romance and clearly set up for a path to redemption. Chimeraguard's plan is close enough while having better stat spread and he already picked the image I offered up, so he's got my vote.

[X] Plan Magical Girl Starscream
-[X][Gender] Girl
-[X][Appearance] Write in. Cold blue eyes and fiery red hair, the latter of which is long and free.
-[X][Origin] Isolation
- Oh come now, what do you have to complain about? In terms of that material wealth you mortals are obsessed with, you're inundated with riches. Your every whim and want catered too, with nothing that cannot be obtained. All for the cost of never leaving your abode before now, locked away by your mother who demands perfection in everything you do and is never satisfied, all in the name of respectability. In short, you've been treated like you're worthless while getting told you're something special. Ah, good. You're used to it already. (3 Might, 7 Skill, 10 Intellect, 5 Empathy, 1 Soul)
-[X][Sin] Pride - You're simply the best.
-[X][Club] Magic: +3 Soul, +2 Intellect
-[X][Club] Sports: +3 Might, +2 Skill
-[X][Name] Kaworu Ai
-[X][???] Take nothing.
A stuck up little girl scheming to take the place of the Big Bad because she thinks she can do a better job. Zero interest in heel-turning. Evangelion Asuka feels like a good fit for this one to me.

Lastly, while looking through all the links I've accumulated I found this image which might be nice for another character, like a teammate (we have 2!) or maybe even an opposing magical girl.

[X] Plan: I will punch you.
This seems to lead to something more interesting than yet another yuri centered magical girl quest

I'm imagining someone who's learned to lash out at the world, because of what the world's done for them. They're enby, but don't mind being called a boy or a girl as long as it's not an insult. They appreciate art and music because it's something beautiful that can't hurt them. They want to get along with others, but are afraid, which turns to anger at the slightest provocation. They want to hold onto hope that things can get better, even if it's hard. They're likely to feel indebted to the big bad for giving them something, and if they're shown joy in the world will in all likelihood try to make the big bad see it. If anybody has a suggestion for a better name feel free, I just picked one out of a metaphorical hat.

[X] Plan: Bent but unbroken
-[X][Gender] Enby
-[X][Appearance] They're a little on the shorter side, with blue eyes and short naturally platinum blonde hair. They're biologically female, but prefer more typically masculine outfits.
-[X][Origin] Cruelty
-[X][Sin] Wrath
-[X][Club] Music: +5 Soul
-[X][Club] Art: +3 Soul, +2 Empathy
-[X][Name] Angel Rose
-[X][???] Hope

I decided to use a character generator but I still had to make it with Paint.

[X] Plan ANGERY Fightin Gal

[X] Plan: I will punch you.

[X] Plan Magical Girl Starscream

I will say I won't vote for anything that uses Sloth because that's not dramatic enough. Pride is kind of like playing on hard mode, since a lot of the time our abilities will be debuffed (especially our abilities that are already bad.)

Pride only penalises us if we are critically struck or make a critical failure, and it goes away as soon as we get a success in the same area. I agree that I don't like Sloth as a protagonist sin, if only because being proactive and making decisions is kind of the core of Quests and that's difficult to justify when our defining flaw is not being motivated to do things.

Surprised I haven't seen a plan involving Envy as the Sin of choice yet. I personally think that's the most interesting of all the Sin options, so here's my go at a plan.

[X] Plan: Insane? No, I just want it all!
-[X][Gender] Girl
-[X][Appearance] Pale indigo eyes, short black hair and a lack of height.
-[X][Origin] Insanity
-[X][Sin] Envy
-[X][Club] Music: +5 Soul
-[X][Club] Urban Legends: +3 Intellect, +2 Empathy
-[X][Name] Hotaru Testarossa
-[X][???]Justice

Yes I know it's low on Empathy for being a primarily Magic-focused build, but where's the fun/reward without a bit of struggle? Insanity giving decent starting stats in Might & Skill ensures our Physical Attacks aren't completely left by the wayside, though. (Also the idea of the envious person being vertically challenged is fun)

As a back-up:
[X] Plan: Weird and Wild

Fair point, but I don't think Sloth would be that crippling to the quest. Instead, I see it as something that motivates us to be efficient with our actions. In character, it would be her trying to get as much done in the first burst of energy so that she wouldn't have to do anything after that, which I personally see as a fun challenge to work with.
