I don't want a god that'll let someone like Montoya die in spite of standing right in front of him.

Tanner's a hero. I refuse to let this guy vanish into the ether, and I think that sentiment is unanimous. Letting him die and bodyjacking him just feels wrong.

I agree! It seems pretty unanimous! Closing vote!

That was a strong introduction for the dude. I'll admit, I was expecting to find out the other cops were in on the kidnapping scheme.

Justice: A Life Saved, Domain Claimed
A man is dying before you.

You have arrived just in time to see him leap in front of another person and take a lethal blow intended for them and watch as the offender is gunned down in retaliation. The woman who had killed the offender cradles the man's face, going back and forth between yelling at him and trying to soothe him. The young boy that had been holding her hand looked on in shock and horror.

The bond they had was apparent. The boy had respect and awe for the dying man, tinged with fear and helplessness as he watched his rescuer die. The woman on the other hand was awash with worry, shock, and anger. A whirlwind of emotions as she screamed for help but they would not make it in time and he would die.

This will not do.

You make your choice and everything slows down. You may only be newly born with little power to your name, but you believe that this man deserves to live for his actions. He has given his live to save and protect the weak and innocent and was willing to die for his comrade in arms. He lived for Justice and he shall continue to serve it. So mote it be.

Bending over him, unseen by the boy and the woman, they will not see you unless you will it and right now, only he could see you in your diminished and divine form, eyes unseeing unable to comprehend you as a small, insignificant piece of you is shed, a small scrap of light, barely larger than a strand of hair that drifted towards the dying man.

His mouth moved, 'who are you?'. If you had lips, you would have given him a smile as you answered.

"I Am." The small piece of you sinks into the man and he begins to seize as your gift began to men the worst of the damages, making the woman and boy cry out, more people are rushing in, two of them carrying something in their hands as they surround the man, everyone started to yell. You did not understand much but you caught something about 'Trauma Team' and 'Hospital'. You recognize the second word and you begin to take your leave, the man will live. He shall wake up sometime later, healing faster than normal, within a week he shall be up on his feet again, and he will be forever marked by your presence.

[Detective Tanner Montoya has been marked by you. This may have consequences.]

========================================================================

It has been a couple of days since your encounter with Tanner Montoya, you had learned his name from the woman, who you also learned was named Wei, who had been calling his name in an attempt to keep him awake. Since then, you have explored the city and you have witnessed much. As a being that needed no sleep nor had the need to eat, you were free to tour the metropolis at your leisure.

You saw a small group of children playing in an empty lot, laughing as they ran around and chased each other, parents and guardians standing close by, chatting with each other with the occasional glance and smile at the sight of their youthful innocence.

People sitting in comfortable couches, writhing as they stared into flashing lights, hands reaching out to grasp things unseen, soft moans and guttural groans coaxed from their lips, their brains experiencing the memories of another.

A body rotting in a forgotten alley. Dried blood is in a pool around it. At its side, a weapon, cold and abandoned, the rats feasting on the remains.

Two people in a ring, surrounded by a cheering crowd that demands their blood. They circle each other and strike, clenched fists striking the other as flesh hits flesh, every blow met with a roar of approval of a bloodthirsty audience.

Shaking foundations, a primal feeling in the air, a myriad of flashing colors, men and women dancing in a room that shuddered with every powerful oomph that blasted from the speakers built into the walls. Drinks sipped from bottles and glasses by all, drugs generously handed out at a cost.

Two armed men accosting a woman in a stall, their weapons raised in threatening display only for their would-be victim to pull out a weapon of her own and effortlessly blowing them away with two pulls of a trigger.

It was interesting to see how blatant the criminals were in the city, many having no issues in committing illegal deeds out in broad daylight. You'd think they'd do it at a better time like at night, it's like they wanted to be caught! During your travels you eventually come across a large building, or at least one that grabs your attention. In big, bright letters that glowed blue and red, NCPD. Hmm, didn't you see those letters on the clothes of that man and woman a few days ago?

Out of curiosity you head inside, it would be nice to see where such upstanding people came from, but you are met with disappointment. There were barely any people inside, those that were there looked haggard, a few were barely able to stay awake, clutching and sipping steaming cups in an effort to stay awake. The interior was a complete mess as well, trash littered the floor, discarded cups, food wrappers, and sheets of paper. The air smelled heavily of smoke and the paintwork rotted and peeled off the walls.

Whoever was in charge of maintaining this place needed to be fired, it all looked as if it had been this way for a very long time and that was just the appearance, when you reach out with your being to sense your surroundings and you immediately sense Corruption. Authority twisted for selfish gains, criminal deals performed under the noses of the righteous but at the same time, you also sense those who are working hard to keep the city in one piece, to protect whomever they could as much as they are allowed. The staunch camaraderie between the officers that work here, their loyalty unbreakable. Good and bad things, you sense but digging further, you can also sense the faint vestiges of more, it is hard to make them out but you feel as if you could reach out and claim it as your own.

This all strikes a chord within you and you cannot help but Speak and claim whatever lies within these rotting halls.

What will you claim? (Choose 1)
[ ] Law - The written word is ignored in this city. It won't be again. All will obey it once more, whether they like it or not.
[ ] Truth - This city is a filthy den of Lies and Deceit. You will not stand for this. All will be revealed and none shall ever find the will to lie in your presence.
[ ] Justice - Good is that which evil fears, and Justice is when you make those fears a reality.
[ ] Punishment - The Criminals have gone unpunished long enough. They will regret their trespasses. They will know the consequences of their sins.
[ ] Vengeance - We can't bring the dead back. We can't make past deeds right. But we can make sure that no one will be hurt again.
[ ] Valor - Only the brave and foolish few dared to stand alone against the darkness in this city. Today they will be alone no longer, nor fools.
[ ] Authority - In the Lawless city only Strength is respected. You will be that Strength. You will be that Authority.
[ ] Write In: (Suggest a Domain and what powers you will inherit with it, within reason!)

A/N: Trying something out here would you all prefer choices to notify what would happen if chosen or would you rather have it left as it was? Also, I am in need of a Beta Reader who can help me keep the narrative flow constant and work as a sounding board for ideas and whatnot. I find myself constantly arguing with myself and it's getting tedious! Anyway! Enjoy the update!

Edit: Some sneaky little editing, you do not notice the edit ninja!

Woops! I have forgotten to mention that you can only take 1 for now! I shall fix this!
But Contracts would work somehow! Would be tricky to try to implement that if it works but we'll see!
