Just had a quick look, and the Mandalore during the Bounty Hunter quest is Mandalore the Vindicated.

The simple answer to why people throw the Mandos into things with Obi-Wan is Satine. Which we've never remotely gotten the appeal of, ourselves. Siri was a better love interest, to us. And if you want to give Obi-Wan a backstory involving war, Melida/Daan is right there.

(...need to finish up the Death Star section so we can get around to posting that Exile (and company) to OT story. Yeah, Canderous being there is going to involve the Mandos by default, but he quite literally comes from a different time so there's that. He's also just one character in comparison to the Jedi.)

You seem to be assuming that:
- Satine isn't the bad-ex that Obi-Wan needs to deal with now that he has his new proper Mando boyfriend Cody/Jango.
- Melida/Daan doesn't feature heavily as another point in how war-experienced Obi is and how that means he should be even more of a Mando himself.

Two very common things that actually feature heavily in the fic that was not added to the list, so it is even on topic to mention.

Yeah, if we're going by the Fanon that makes up that segment of fics Satine is not well liked since her whole deal runs counter to the Mando-wank. There are a number of fics that do involve positive depictions of her, but generally they go a different direction than "Mando's strong!".
