AN:Heyo, felt the need to get the creative juices running again so here's a new quest from me.

= = = = = = = = =

Earth is home to many wonderful and fantastical things and until recently most of humanity didn't know just how amazing their home planet was. However, rules put down by divine will, ancient magi, paranoid genius, and alien protocol kept the true nature of the world a secret to most of the population of the planet, keeping them ignorant of the wonders and terrors that hid behind the veil of normalcy. This side of the world even divided themselves into factions based on their origins. Heroes that fought the villains and evils of the true side of the world would rarely cross paths and even then would think no more of such encounters.

That changed several decades ago when a dark god almost submerged the world in eternal night, the war-hungry alien civilisation called the Proskakians invaded the planet, and an evil organisation almost screwed everyone over by opening a portal to the Omega Black Dimension, all in the course of a single day. In order to save the world from this unprecedented disaster, in order to gather together a force capable of saving the world, the masquerade was willingly broken.

Mystic knights, ninja assassins, cyborgs, magical girls, demon-hunters, supernatural martial artists, mad scientists, robots, demi-gods, all manner of superhuman beings and more came together and defended the world from three immense evil forces and they succeeded against all odds. The dark god was sealed away, the Proskakians were beaten back, and the evil organisation was destroyed. The world was saved. Enthused by their success, the saviours of the world called themselves the Guardians of the Earth. From that point onwards, things would never be the same again.

Now in the present day, the world is almost a different creature altogether. Magic and super-science work side by side. Demons and gods have their spats over ideals and domains. Elves have emerged from their secret elf kingdoms only to find that the dwarves are much more popular with the world due to their mastery of the brewing arts. Giant Robots fight each other with martial arts in massive arenas, broadcasted live over the internet. Magical dropouts working as private investigators to make a living. Peaceful alien races intermingle with humanity, sometimes in joyous union. Indeed, it seems the world is at peace. However, evil still lurks in the shadows, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. However, the heroes of Earth have not been idle.

The Guardians of the Earth have since grown into an immense organisation, spanning across the globe, with every major city having their own branch of the world-famous superhero team. Recently, the vaunted organisation have begun setting up branches in smaller settlements for reasons that are privy to the Prime team.

And you have been chosen to lead the latest branch of the Guardians.

Unfortunately for you, from what you've been told, your new assignment will be in the sleepy town of Crossville. With a relatively small population compared to all the other cities and towns that the Guardians have set up shop, super crime is almost non-existent in Crossville with mundane crime easily taken care of by the Crossville police. As far as you can tell, there's nothing really notable about the place. Appearance can be deceiving however and the main branch certainly thinks so. According to the latest predictions from Guardian Pre-cogs, something big may be going down in Crossville. The pre-cogs have been wrong in the past however so there's no guarantees.

Well, regardless of whether or not disaster's just over the horizon in Crossville City, you are a superhero and you're going to do the best that you can.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Okay so here's the deal. You, SV, are playing the leader of newest branch of a huge superhero organisation. You'll be setting up patrols, recruiting local heroes, going on missions, and so on. Your goal for the time being is to make the Crossville City Guardian Branch a success. There will be villains, both mundane and super. There will be PR events to help bring up your reputation and fame. There will be social links (Maybe). For now though, let's first get started on character generation.

Who are you?

[ ] Promising Newcomer: You haven't been at this for very long but you've already proven yourself to be quite the hero. This assignment is pretty much a test to see if you're going to be a major player in the future. Considering that you're still studying part-time, you've been given some help with your new home for the foreseeable future. Hopefully you'll survive long enough to see your superhero career flourish.
Benefits: Free base upgrade, No major nemesis, Bigger Reputation gain, higher starting funds
Demerits: Inexperienced, Enticing target for rookie hero killers, part-time student!

[ ] Surviving Veteran: You are a veteran superhero and you've finally been given the okay to return to duty after the disaster that left you as one of the few survivors from your now defunct branch. While you haven't fully recovered, this assignment is to help ease you back into the work of justice. The incident may have left scars on you both physically and mentally, and resulted in a major falling out between your former teammates but you're determined to never let something like it ever happen again.
Benefit: Favours from other veteran heroes, Higher Starting Reputation, Powerful
Demerits: PTSD, minor disability, resentful former teammate, Nemesis!

[ ] Ex-villain on probation: You are a former villain who has decided to turn over a new leaf. A major superhero has been kind enough to endorse and support your change of heart. Of course, things aren't that simple. Many heroes think that you'll just swing back to crime soon enough while many other are willing to give you a chance to prove yourself worthy. You'll use everything that you have, including your old contacts, your hidden bank accounts and your minions who have also decided to join you, to show those who gave you a chance that they weren't wrong.
Benefit: Underworld Contacts, Higher starting funds, Minions Sidekicks, Major superhero assistance
Demerits: Greater Scrutiny, Handler, Old enemies, Negative Starting Reputation, Not so heroic urges.

[ ] Disgraced Superloser: You were going to be next big hero that the Guardians have ever seen. You had sponsors! However, whether it be by incompetence, misfortune, or sabotage, you've been made the laughing stock of the superhero world. Now nobody takes you seriously, not even the villains. This assignment is your big chance to start anew. Maybe this time, you'll become the hero that you want to be. If you can get people to see that you can be a hero. At least you were allowed to bring your superpet with you.
Benefits: Powerful, Villains less dangerous, Less Scrutiny from veteran heroes and public, superpet.
Demerits: Laughingstock, less likely to be taken seriously by everyone, may be harassed by asshole heroes.

[X] Disgraced Superloser

Once upon a time, you were set to become one of the greatest heroes that the Earth has ever seen. You would have left a legacy that would echo across time and space, inspire future generations of heroes.

Okay, not really but a little ambition is never a bad thing, something that one of your former mentors told you. Not that you ever see them much anymore, not after the "Incident". It seems like it was only yesterday that you were heading out into the world to make a name for yourself as one of the world's heroes. You had all the ingredients that you believed were needed to make it big in the hero business. Mentors, sponsors, A-rank superpowers, good PR, and even an adorable animal sidekick. And for several months, things were looking up. You were on your way to superhero stardom.

Nothing could have prepared you for what had happened at the "Incident"

But you'd rather not think about that. Regardless, after the "Incident", you'd become the world's biggest laughingstock. Nobody took you seriously when you went out to fight crime. All you got from your fellow heroes were ridicule, pity, and contempt. Nearly all your hopes and dreams had gone down the drain that day. Most of your old friends were ashamed to even be seen with you, much less be associated with you. Your sponsors cut ties with you and in one case, even sued you for gross incompetence, though luckily the judge ruled in your favour.

Even villainous scumbags refused to take you seriously. The moment they recognised you, they'll start laughing and saying shit about how they could easily take you. Despite all the insults and mocking that were thrown at you, however, it seemed that people had forgotten one small fact about you.

Your power ranking was still A-rank. This combined with many criminal letting their guard down resulted in many villains and weak monsters being beaten down like the trash that they were. Unfortunately, a lot of these arrests were pretty isolated and any that did reach the news were either attributed to flukes or some other hero. Turns out those criminals got the last laugh by giving credit of their defeat at your hand to other heroes. Even defeated scumbags were ashamed of being defeated by you.

So for some time, you languish in the E-list hero rankings, making do with beating down small-time crooks, the occasional monster and generally passing the time in misery since you weren't called in to assist with the major incidents that occurred during this time.

However thing began to change when one of the few friends you had convinced you to show up at a party, in hope of getting you out of your funk. Needless to say, things did not turn out as planned. You were still the laughingstock of the world and almost everyone at the party kept reminding you of that fact. A few drinks too many and one insult too much later, you'd ended up being forced into a practice fight with an up-and-coming newcomer.

On the day of the match, hardly anyone came by to watch at the local Guardian Branch Training room. Unfortunately (or fortunately) almost everyone believed that the newcomer's victory was a foregone conclusion. The greenhorn being the arrogant little asshole he was made it so that match was anything goes. Powers and special techniques were allowed. Weapons and gadgets were fine. So sure of his victory, they didn't take up a stance when the two of you were about to fight. After all, they were powerful. They had already taken part in several major operations and were the envy of their fellow contemporaries. How could they lose?

You proceeded to completely and utterly defeated them.

Every attack they threw at you, you completely neutralised, even outright ignoring some. Every defence they put up, you shattered mercilessly. No matter what move or powers they used, you countered them with ease. With terrifying skill and a burning fury born from endless mocking and ridicule, you crushed them piece by piece, showing them exactly why you were once considered the most promising hero of the generation.

You left the training room feeling much better about yourself, leaving the new hero a crying quivering wreck begging for mercy. There was a dedicated healer in the building so they weren't in any danger of dying. Since no one had watched the fight, you had little doubt that the little bitch was going to try and spin your victory as some kind of a fluke or him being generous. Or at least that what you'd thought was going to happen.

You weren't expecting none other than a founding member of the Guardians to have been watching the match. Thanks to that, you were soon summoned to the Guardian's HQ for a meeting where you were given the chance to prove to the world that you weren't a screw up, that you were a hero worthy of respect and trust.

Thus, you were chosen to become the leader of Crossville City Branch of the Guardians.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

You're powerful, that much is a given considering that you crushed a supposed A-ranker rookie hero like they were nothing, but what exactly is the nature of your abilities? Or rather, just what kind of hero are you?

[ ] A Masked Rider: You are just one of the latest incarnations of the legendary group of heroes. Donning a belt of mysterious origins, with a cry ("HENSHIN") you become a powerful warrior of justice. With your fists (plus your bike and sword), you'll show the world that even if there's no god or Buddha, there is Kamen Rider.
Powers: Superhuman Strength and Endurance, Skilled Martial Artist, Skilled Motorcyclist, Powerful Finishing Moves, Special Ability

[ ] A Magical Girl: You are a heroine of love and justice. With powers granted to you through a mysterious trinket given to you by a cute magical animal, you do battle with the forces of evil. You might look cute but you're more than capable of throwing around beams of mass destruction. Oh and heal anyone who might get caught in said destruction. In the name of Love and Justice, you will punish evil!
Powers: Peak Human Body, Healing Powers, High-Powered Energy Blasts, Flight, Fanservice, Mentor Mascot

[ ] A Blessed Beastman: Half-man, half-animal, and all dangerous, you are a ferocious beast of nature. More so since you have magical beast heritage flowing through your body. With a powerful body backed up by supernatural powers and blessed by the spirit of the Earth itself, coupled with the instinct of an apex predator, you're a monster who protects the world.
Powers: Magical Beast inheritance, Superhuman Dexterity, Power, and Agility, Animal powers, Powerful Healing Factor, Blessed by the spirit of the Earth.

[ ] An Esper: You have psychic powers. Though your body is nothing special, your mind is a completely different story. Telekinesis, Clairvoyance, Telepathy, Teleportation, Psychometry - you can do many things with nothing more than your will. The power of the mind comes with much greater intelligence or, at least, a greater capacity for learning.
Powers: Multiple Psychic abilities, baseline-human body, enhanced mental abilities, weak pre-cognition.

[ ] A Spark: You are for lack of a better term, a mad scientist. You are capable of understanding and applying science in a way that no normal human can possibly imitate. With nothing more than a box of scraps in a cave, you are able to build devices and gadgets more advance than what the rest of the world is capable of creating. FOR GREAT SCIENCE, you endeavour to make the world a better place.
Powers: SUPER-SCIENCE! Power armour, Robot minions, Gadgets, Super-macguyvering

[X] A Blessed Beastman

Beastmen or Beastfolks as they preferred to be called, are essentially a catch-all term for any humanoid race with traits from both animals and humans. Though the degree of how human or animal they tend to vary greatly, beastfolks have always lived beside humans. In the past, before the breaking of the masquerade, it wasn't uncommon for groups of these animal-human hybrids to live in isolated communities with little to no contact with humans. For one reason or another, despite their numbers not being insignificant, they were able to avoid being known to the human world.

Then came the breaking of the veil and humanity quickly came to acknowledge the existence of beastfolks and surprisingly gave them full human rights with almost no issues or fuss being made about it. Since then, beastfolks are the most widespread race on the planet after humanity.

And you are one of them. Usually born with a powerful body coupled with bestial instincts as well as animal senses, beastfolks were strong rivals to their weaker human counterparts.

However, unlike most beastfolks, you are a little bit special. No, make that very special.

It is said that the first beastfolks were the results of the union between humans and magical beasts. While the origins of beastfolks are unknown, unions between humans and magical beasts, particularly those capable of taking on a human form, were very real things. Somewhere along your family tree, someone did the nasty with what they thought was a regular human who was, in fact, a magical beast of immense power pretending to be human.

Thanks to that, you've inherited some of your ancestor's powers. Just having that would have made you part of the upper middle tiers of power in the world. However, you were also gifted with something else.

Gaia's blessing.

Perhaps your parents did something good and the world wanted to repay the karma. Maybe you were the reincarnation of a powerful being and what was once theirs had somehow been passed down to you. Or more probably it was just by dumb luck that you ended up far more powerful than you should have been.

By the way, the magical creature that seduced (or got seduced) by your human ancestor was a:

[ ] Moon Rabbit: Your ancestor had a thing for rabbits apparently. Being descended from a race of magical rabbits that migrated from the moon, you'd normally have gotten some healing powers or something like glowing. Gaia's blessing instead somehow gave you the power to manipulate gravity as well as time to a lesser degree. You can also heal crazy fast for some reason. Did the Moon Rabbit drink the elixir of immortality that they made?

[ ] Spirit Fox: A kitsune seduced one of your ancestors so now you have to deal with people hitting on you all the time along with being the butt of everyone's jokes. At the very least, you got shapeshifting powers and the power to possess people. Not only that, Gaia's blessing has also given you the ability to craft really good illusions as well as ghost powers. And fox fire, you just love burning people with illusions made out of fire.

[ ] Celestial Tiger: In the ancient past, your ancestor was offered as a sacrifice to a divine beast. Instead of devouring your ancestor, the divine beast had other ideas. Now, with Gaia's blessing distorting your inheritance, you have the power to create and control lightning as well as transform into a lightning beast form. You've also been blessed with an immensely powerful body though you do have to shop at specialty stores to find your size.

[ ] Hellhound: Your ancestor had an encounter with a canine from hell and apparently the demon dog really friendly with them. Many generations latter after you received the blessing, you developed powers over shadows and black fire. Your tracking skills can only be considered monstrous. And you can apparently call your distant canine relatives from hell to help you out.

[ ] Holy Dog: The records that you were able to find speaks of how the blood of a divine wolf flows through your family lineage. Frankly you think it's an exaggerating considering that you look goddamn adorable. At least, you got something like double blessings which ended up becoming like a personal super forcefield that protects you at all time, healing powers, and the ability to sniff out sins. That and smite evil with extreme prejudice.

Magic, gods, and interspecies relations can do some crazy stuff.

Anyways, you've been given the chance to prove to the world that you weren't a joke. That you were worthy of the trust hat have been given to you by some of the most powerful heroes on the planet. Admittedly you have never really been in a leadership role before but you've been assured that you have the potential to be a good leader.

However, to be a leader, you need a team to actually lead. Fortunately, you've been informed that several other heroes have been assigned to Crossville. In fact, your best friend is one of them. You have little doubt that by the time you get to Crossville's Guardian HQ, your buddy would have already upgraded some of the facilities to their standards.

The friend that will be joining you as you begin your superhero career anew is:

[ ] Professor Maximum: Genius inventor and all-round mad scientist, he's a veteran hero with some major bad habits that you get along with for some reason. He's famous for creating several weapons that have proven instrumental in protecting the Earth. He's also infamous for using his inventions to try and become more popular with the ladies. Multiple failures have forced Professor Maximum to invent several healing devices that would advance medical science by decades if he cared enough to patent them. Rumour has it that he's been dabbling in advance robotics in an effort to create a robot girlfriend. (Crossville HQ begins with Level 2 Science and medical facilities.)

[ ] Cyrus Chance: A powerful mage from another dimension who used to freeload at your place before he joined the Guardians and got his own apartment somewhere. Despite being lost in time and space, Cyrus treats his situation as a vacation from his duties as a High Wizard Lord. Despite his lackadaisical attitude, he's famous for his mastery over space manipulation magic as well as his version of muscle magic. He's also well-versed in other schools of magic. Thanks to his magical skills, he's constantly badgered by the Magi League to join them in advancing their magical/political agendas. (Crossville HQ begins with level 2 Magical and Recreation facilities)

[ ] Miss Snow: Former ice-manipulating infiltrator of an Evil Organisation, Snow turned to the side of good after being left for dead by her former comrades and then being rescued by you early in your career. Once a cold-hearted and logical spy and assassin, her organisation's betrayal left her broken for some time. After much therapy, she became an energetic and cheerful young lady, her personality taking a full 180 turn, who was still capable of sneaking into the most fortified locations without being captured and freezing entire buildings in solid ice. Using her experience, she knows how to ensure that no-one can get into a place…or out. (Crossville HQ begins with level 2 Spy Network and Containment facilities)

Char Gen 3
[X] Moon Rabbit

Somewhere down your family tree, one of your ancestors had an intimate encounter with a member of a rare magical race known most commonly as "Moon Rabbits". Moon Rabbits originally came from the Lunar Kingdom, a hidden realm that existed upon the moon. Created by the Lunarians to serve as tools, they were used for a variety of tasks including farming, cleaning, medicine synthesis, and military defence. The Lunarians had fully believed that the moon rabbits were completely loyal to them. However, this was completely false. When a large number of them were sent to Earth to spy for the Lunarians, almost all of them abandoned their mission and went native. After several attempt to force the moon rabbits to obey their commands had failed, the Lunarian decided to investigate what had gone wrong. To their shock and horror, it turned out that the Moon Rabbits had only obediently obeyed their creators simply because they had not been aware that there existed a concept known as free will. By sending them down to Earth, the moon rabbits had discovered that they had free wills and immediately rebelled against their creators.

That was a long time ago. In the present day, pure-blooded moon rabbit no longer existed on Earth having long since intermingled with Earth's native species. However, their power still ran strong in those with their blood. And that power flows through you as well. Not only that, the blessing bestowed upon you by Gaia, the spirit of the earth has drawn out the full potential of your heritage that not even the Lunarians or the original moon rabbits themselves knew about.

As a Moon Rabbit Beastman blessed by the Earth, you have the following powers:

Rabbit Beastfolk Physiology – Like all beastfolks, you are naturally stronger, tougher, and faster than a baseline human. Your instincts are also much better geared for life outside civilisation. As a rabbit beastfolk, you have a natural sixth sense that allows you to detect bloodlust as well as danger. Your sense of smell and hearing are superhuman and your reflexes are superior to most other kinds of beastfolks. Your legs are also much more powerful than normal, allowing you to leap large distances and run at high speeds with ease.

Gaia's Blessing – For whatever reason, Mother Earth has granted you her blessings. Bound tightly to your soul, it is permanently a part of your very being and nothing can remove it. The blessing has not only amplified your natural abilities, it has also awakened your magical bloodline to its full potential. Thanks to this, you are capable of reaching far beyond the normal limits of your race as well as access powers beyond what your heritage would have normally given.

Gravity Control – You have local control over gravity which you can apply in various ways. Such techniques include changing the direction of an object's gravitational pull, increase the strength of gravity or reduce it (essentially manipulating weight), reverse it so that objects instead fall towards the sky, negate gravity, and even create a powerful suction effect. You often use this power unconsciously to travel on vertical and even upside down surfaces.

Time Control – You have a lesser form of temporal manipulation. You are capable of accelerating or slowing down time around you in a localised area while still being able to move freely and unaffected. You also know what time it is no matter where or when you are.

Lunar Empowerment – Due to your moon rabbit blood being awakened, you have a powerful connection with the moon which you can draw power from. In the moonlight, you become more powerful depending on the phase of the moon. Physical abilities become more powerful, Gravity and Time control powers also become more potent, and you can draw sustenance from the moon as well.

Supernatural Healing Factor – Like most beastfolks, you heal faster than normal humans. However, thanks to Gaia's blessing, you heal faster than most beastfolks and most superhumans as well. You can heal from minor to moderate wounds near-instantaneously leaving no scars behind. Lost limbs and internal organs regenerate quickly and can be reattached. Blood loss isn't an issue for you. Nerve damage heals to an extent. You can recover from brain damage if it is no more than a certain level. You are immune to non-magical diseases and mostly unaffected by toxins and drugs. You can even regenerate your clothes somehow. Hell, your blood even has healing properties.

[X] Miss Snow

With these powers, you had become complacent, arrogant, and reckless. This along with bad circumstances and bad luck resulted in your fall. However, while most of those that you thought were your friends abandoned you, a precious few stayed by your side, encouraging you to stand back up and remain a hero. One of them was a young woman who once your enemy, Miss Snow.

If a person was to meet Snow as she was now, they would never suspect that she was once a ruthless, emotionless assassin and spy for the now defunct Last Order, a villainous organisation that had sought to take control of the world. You had first met her on your first ever outing as a hero. You'd accidentally stumbled into a Last Order operation when you had smashed a would-be supervillain through a wall and into another building. She tried to kill you and she almost succeeded in doing so.

Since then, the two of you clashed many times as your team back then sought to stop Last Order's schemes. Every time you fought against one another, you would purposely provoke Snow in order to catch a glimpse of Snow's forgotten heart. Things eventually came to a conclusion when Snow was forced by her superiors to hold back several superhero teams to cover their escape. In other words, Snow had been left to take the fall in their place. Despite this, however, Snow fought on without hesitation, ruthlessly and efficiently neutralising the heroes one by one. Against all odds, all of them were beaten by the ice-user. All of them except you.

It was a close fight, harder than any that you had ever fought before. Your flesh was frozen and shattered countless of times but you bounced back each time. Spikes of ice pierced your skin and body even as you struck hundreds of time with your kicks and fists. It all came to an end when you somehow managed to shiver so intensely that you heated up the air around you burning temperatures, preventing Snow from freezing you, allowing you to finally defeat her.

However, her superiors had left a message in case she was defeated. It was the first time that you saw absolute despair on her face when her superiors she had followed all her life told her that she was no longer needed and her last order was to die alongside the heroes she had managed to hold up before dropping several bombs on you. Broken by how casually her superiors had discarded her, Snow couldn't move to defend herself. Instead, you protected her and your fellow heroes by pulling the bombs all together and using your body to block the explosion. You'd saved the day and Snow was captured.

The injuries you sustained left you in a coma for several days before your healing factor could fully heal you. However, during that time Snow escaped from containment multiple times, only to be caught when she was found sitting by your bedside watching you with an unreadable expression. Even though she was broken as a human being, Snow was fixated on you for some reason.

Eventually, she was put on trial for her crimes. However, the judge had sentenced her to undergo rehabilitation at a special facility and that was the last time you saw the cold, murderous ice queen. The next time you met Snow, instead of an assassin with a frozen heart, you found a snow angel on the side of good. Her treatment at the rehabilitation facility for criminals had apparently done wonders for her, removing most of Last Order's indoctrination from her mind. Her personality had also become the complete opposite of what you had previously known.

The change from a cold-hearted emotionless killer to sweet and energetic young lady in the springtime of her youth was very jarring, especially with her drastic change in fashion sense. Before her change, she used to wear military-styled outfits in winter shades. Now she wore cute outfits in bright warm colours. Certain habits from before were still present but they were easily overwhelmed by Snow's new cheerfully hyperactive self.

She then proceeded to attach herself to your team and treated you as her senior and before long, you had become good friends.

After the "Incident" you'd gone on a self-imposed exile to escape the mocking and ridicule but Snow was able to find you despite your efforts to hide your trail.

Where did she find you?

[ ] In a rural farming town where you lived with the local medicine woman and learnt to tap into your moon rabbit intuition for synthesising powerful healing salve and other similarly powerful medicines. You also grew more in tune with the earth and learnt how to control it through your blessing.

[ ] In the middle of a caged arena as a fighter in an underground fighting ring. Hidden behind a helmet, you fought and fought until you couldn't fight, rested up and then fight some more in order to distract yourself from your mistake. Through fighting many different kinds of opponents, you honed your body to the point where it was stronger than those from more innately powerful species of beastfolks. You also caught the eye of a martial arts master who taught you how to utilise your ki and manifest your fighting spirit to strengthen and protect your body. You also sharpened your reflexes and sixth sense, becoming very hard to be caught off guard.

[ ] Living in the vicious wilderness of the Savage Lands where monsters stalked through the jungles and all manner of predators hunted and were hunted by each other. Here, you learnt how to shift your body between several forms – an animal form, your regular beastfolk form, a human form, and a monstrous nightmare rabbit form – each with their own advantages and disadvantages. All while sharpening your instincts and becoming the most dangerous predator.

Of course, you hadn't gone on your exile alone. You'd brought along your superpowered pet:

[ ] A cyborg dog - One of Last Order's experiments, you found and rescue her from whatever horrible plans they had for the now mechanised canine. You weren't able to restore back to how she was before but that didn't seem to matter to her. Armed with laser weaponry and other hidden gadgets and functions, your dog is like lassie, except with more dakka and explosions.

[ ] A monster kitten – You found it in a cardboard box on your way home one day. It's black and seems to be actually made out of some black ink-like substance. It has the mouth of a lamprey and it doesn't have eyes unless it wants to, as many as it wants, and it can fire tentacles from its mouth. It acts like a normal kitten though and you've determined that it's not dangerous, at least not to you or your friends.

[ ] A magic sapient crystal – You had bought an old chest from a lost baggage auction and found a strange inert crystal inside. When you accidentally cut yourself on one of its sharp edges, it immediately lit up and began to float in orbit around you. It communicates in crystal tones and colour changes. It can record what happens around it and replay it on command. It is also capable of firing a beam of magic that does random things to whatever it hits.

[ ] An omnivorous rabbit – You were given this rabbit as a joke from a now former friend. They had gotten it from a petshop that they couldn't find again. You didn't notice anything strange about it until you had been captured by a villain and kept as their prisoner for several days, unable to feed your rabbit. When you managed to get free and return to feed them, you found your place a mess with your pet slowly eating your tv.

[X] A Rural Farming Town
[X] Monster Kitty

Jyushu was not a large town nor was it close to any neighbouring cities or settlements. There were perhaps a bit more than a couple dozen people who lived in Jyushu. The place was situated in a place called Moondew Vale and was surrounded by the beauty of nature. Ocean to the south, mountains to the north and forests on both east and west. It was a place where one could get closer to nature. The food was great, the people were nice, and the night sky was a sight to behold on top of Mount Nuttop. There were many things you regret in life but coming here to Jyushu was definitely not one of them.

It's been three months since you left Megacity to escape the consequences of your mistake. A rabbit could only take so much crap after all and you'd reached your limit after you were unceremoniously kicked off the team. Sure they said they were giving you some time off and take a break from being a superhero to get your affairs in order but you could read the lines. Your former teammates didn't want to be associated with you anymore. You guess they also had enough of you hogging the spotlight all the time. Maybe the whole "incident" was just karma for everything you've done to raise your reputation. Well, you're famous now and not in a good way.

Still, it was nice to know that Snow was still your friend even when the others had pretty much abandoned you. She even tried to convince you to stay, even if it meant being a Guardian associate. You declined. Even if you wanted to, there was no way in hell you were going to work with the guys who were somewhat responsible for your freak out on live television.

In any case, coming to Jyushu was a godsend. The most advanced piece of technology in town was a research computer at the mountain observatory which the resident egghead used solely for recording his observation and calculations for experiments. The only other pieces of technology around was an aging robot with obsolete parts, a couple of old radios, and a plasma TV in the community centre used for movie nights.

You had a bit of a hard time getting used to the town, especially since you were a newcomer from the big city. Everyone in town already knew each other and you were a stranger who showed up one day asking for a place to stay for an indefinite period of time. Admittedly you were also carrying a mutant kitten. They almost kicked you out of the town but Sharon, an old witch who lived in the forest and was the town's oldest resident said that she was getting old and needed someone to help her errands and work. You'd accepted unaware that you would soon become intimate with part of your heritage that your family had long forgotten.

Things started off slowly at first. For the first couple of weeks, you just helped reorganised Sharon's workbench, cooked meals, cleaned the cottage, and keep Sharon company. Your kitten, Inky found the change in environment agreeable. You'd often be sent out on errands to deliver medicine or pick up supplies from the townsfolk. When you didn't have anything to do, you trained on the mountain, helped out on the local farm, or just hang out at the saloon. It was in your third week in Moondew Valley that Sharon decided to have you help her prepare all kind of medicine.

You chopped, boiled, pounded, powdered, pressed, percolated, and bottled up all kinds of herbs and roots as you followed the instructions given to you by Sharon. You learnt how to prepare infusions, decoctions, tinctures, macerations, poultices, compresses and bath remedies for all kinds of maladies. You had spent a month learning how to make all these herbal medicines and you were pleased to hear that you were mastering what took others several month or years to learn.

However, you had begun to vaguely sense that something had been guiding your hands as you crushed roots with your bare hands, mixed herbs and boiled them. Slowly but surely, you began to move away from traditional recipes to your own creations. Sometimes your formulas were even better than Sharon's recipes. Fortunately, rather than be miffed about the whole thing, she was very pleased. It was around halfway through your second month in Moondew Valley that Sharon shared you her suspicion on your talent in herbalism.

In retrospect, it should have been obvious. The original Moon Rabbits had the knowledge of Lunarian medicine synthesis written into their very being. Herbalism was in their blood and despite it being watered down through the generations, this instinctive knowledge for making medicine had been passed down to you. Days after this revelation, you concocted your first dose of Lunarian-style healing potion. It had been a rainy day and you were experimenting with some ingredients that Sharon left aside for you to practice with. The sound of the rain and a lack of sleep the night before had made you doze off while mixing some medicine. However, you were woken up when the mixture you had been pounding with a mortar began to glow a blue ethereal light.

Sharon was quick to identify it as a healing potion of great potency, capable of healing a severe injury in seconds after application or ingestion, something that was beyond Sharon's ability to create. You weren't sure how you managed to pull something like that off but having done so made you enthused about the whole thing and you poured more focus into recreating this powerful potion. You soon began creating potions with more esoteric effects after discovering that you could somehow supercharge various herbs and plants with magical energy to grant them mystical properties.

Time passed by quietly and you continued your studies and experiments into Lunarian-Style herbalism. Sharon had been kind enough to not make a big deal about it and kept the medicine that you made hidden away for emergencies. You still continued to perform errands for the old lady, growing closer to the town and its inhabitants as you did so.

One day, you received an interesting request from the town's blacksmith. He was working on upgrading the weapon of an adventurer who lived in town and he needed a special kind of mineral that could only be found deep in an old abandoned mine in the mountain up north. You were suspicion of course but Sharon explained that despite the mine being abandoned by the original mining corporation, the townsfolks still went in to look for gems and ores. Then she told you that monsters had made the mine their home which made it difficult for regular folks to continue their spelunking.

Taking a miner's helmet, an old pickaxe and a bag of supplies, you headed down into the mines of Nuttop. Inside, you encountered ghosts, slimes, giant insects, and trolls. You were harried by traps, natural hazards, and sudden pitfalls. You had to stop and return to the surface several times to restock and plan out your underground excursion. What was once a mine turned out to be a dungeon. Nevertheless, you persevered, beating down every monster that came your way, smashing every rock in search of that elusive ore, and even did a little fishing at underground lakes that you discovered.

You soon found what the blacksmith had asked for but being deep underground, surrounded by earth, resonated with your blessing. You started spending the days working on medicine and doing errands and the nights were spent exploring down in the mines. At times, you would simply stay in the mines all night, finding a calm peaceful spot surrounded by crystals and mineral to simply meditate. Deep in the darkness, you could feel the pulse of the mountain, the heart of the world, and the song of the earth. Down there, with only the earth to keep you company, you learnt how to speak to it, to make it shift and move at your leisure.

Earth calls to Earth and so it called to you.

Life was just great at Moondew Valley. There were enough things to do to keep your mind off the incident. The townsfolk either didn't know or care about what you had done before coming to Jyushu, and you were stronger than you were several months ago. But in the end, you had not given up on your dreams. At the core of your being, was still a desire to become the greatest hero the world had ever seen.

And you knew that your country life was soon to come to an end when you returned to Sharon's cottage after a night of underground ruminating and found Snow and Sharon talking animatedly with Inky purring in the ice-user's lap. A couple of days later, you were on a train back to Megacity, but not before you gave Sharon a potion of youth though. She was very pleased with that.

Thus, during your time at Moondew Valley, you've acquired the following abilities:

Potion Maker – You are capable of creating various kinds of potions, pills, powder and other substances of both mundane and magical nature. Such potions include healing salves that instantly heals any wound, clarity elixir that allows a person to maintain a clear and calm mind no matter what tries to influence them, youth potion which undo the efforts of aging to some extent, and berserk potion that grants the drinker incredible strength and endurance in exchange for rational thought.

Earth Manipulation – You can manipulate the earth in various ways. This includes, but are not limited to, moving through the earth like water, lifting rock and boulders and launching them at any speed, and creating stone constructs.

Now before a new chapter in your life begins, there are a couple of things that needs to be made clear.

Welcome to Crossville HQ
[X] Jake Jackrabbit
[X] No Secret Identity
[X] Picture 1

Your name is Jake Jackrabbit, JJ for short, and you are a superhero. You've been one for about a year though you recently took a vacation lasting three months to cool off after you humiliated yourself on public television and became the laughingstock of the cape community. You admit that those three months have been good to you. Who knows where you could have ended up if you didn't find Moondew Valley?

In any case, your vacation ended when your best friend Snow found you despite your efforts to leave no trail behind. You returned to the city, determined to wipe the slate clean and rebuild your reputation from scratch. Unfortunately, after much badgering from Snow and against your better judgement, you join Snow when she attended a local hero get-together. Three months as it turned out was not long enough for people to forget about what you did and you were subjected to a lot of ribbing and ridicule. You did your best to ignore everyone's mocking but when some greenhorn insisted that you treat him little your senior, that was the last straw.

Words were said and you soon found yourself agreeing to an anything goes practice duel.

On the day of the duel, you showed up with only your usual outfit while the other guy was fully kitted out. You then proceeded to show the rookie that just because everyone was making a mockery out of you didn't mean that you were weak or actually a joke of a hero. By the end of the duel, you had him begging for mercy and forgiveness, all while using only your physical capabilities. Not many people had seen the fight with many people from yesterday deciding they had better stuff to than watch some has-been fight the new guy. However, among the few that did come to watch were none other than two veteran heroes from the main branch of the Guardians and they were impressed.

A couple days later, you were called to a meeting with a member of the main branch where they informed you that a new branch was being created and you had been chosen to be its leader. Saying that you were surprised by the announcement would be an understatement. After having some time to digest your promotion to Branch Leader, you accepted and you were soon on the train to Crossville City.

The official announcement of your appointment as Crossville Guardian Branch Leader hadn't happened yet but the Main Branch wanted you to first get acclimated to what was going to be your new home for the foreseeable future. When you arrived in front of the Crossville Guardian Branch Base, you were underwhelmed by the fact that the place looked like a warehouse that has only been given a chrome paintjob and a domed roof.

Inside was a little better, more so when you discovered that Snow had also been assigned to your branch and that she had already done some base upgrades of her own. Unfortunately for reasons that have yet to be made to you, Crossville HQ is still lacking in many facilities that would be needed as soon as possible to ensure things runs smoothly. At least there some facilities that have already been set up though so that's a plus.

There's a basic command center that has a holographic model of the city, allowing you to plan patrols, coordinate missions, make and receive calls from other branches, and generally help you better organise things. It looks like things are set up for a Specialised AI to be installed which would be fantastic. EVE, the base AI for Megacity, was a great help off and on the field, able to provide intel and maintain communications as well as alert the team on crimes in progress and the likes.

A basic medical bay with a couple of healing pods for battle damage recovery as well as basic first aid kits for field use. Considering your potion making abilities, it might be kinda redundant but you'll never know what might happen out there. Your potions are powerful but there are some things that a healing potion can't heal easily. A better medical bay might be in order in the future. For now, it should be adequate.

The place also has a basic armoury though it's kinda lacking in inventory at the moment. Right now, it's basically being used to store everyone's battle equipment though there's a bunch of other stuff here as well. There a bunch of all-purpose customisable Guardian uniforms, some basic energy weapons set for non-lethal take downs, and some containment spray. You definitely got to find a supplier as well as someone to look after the place once you've gotten things up and running.

Snow has had a monitoring room with her own custom artificial intelligence running through the web as well as keeping a line open with her various contacts. You haven't asked but you're pretty sure that some of the contacts that Snow is connected to are from the criminal underworld. From the internet to criminal informants, you can safely say that if something major is going on, you won't be the last to hear of it. You'll also get a good idea on how things are going on the public relations front as well.

You've also discovered that Snow has converted one of the underground floors into a rather sophisticated containment facility aka prison. With this, you'll be able to contain criminal and villains of the super variety until they can be transferred over to a far more secure prison without relying on police jails and equipment. It's not that you lack faith in the normal law enforcers but when supers are involved, it's best to leave it to another super.

There are a couple of other facilities as well that the main branch has kindly set up prior to your arrival.

Facilities will give bonuses to related dice rolls in the future. Better facilities will obviously give better bonuses though later upgrades will specialise in different paths. Currently, the base at its current level has room for eight facilities. Five of them are already taken and you'll be choosing two more. Don't worry, the base will be upgradeable to allow more facilities to be built.

Choose two:

[ ] Basic Danger Room: - It's basically a large room that's been filled with traps, projectile firing devices, and mechanical threats such as presses, collapsing walls and the likes, intended to help train heroes and other capes against possible future dangers. Not that great but better than nothing. Has a gym mode to allow for basic physical conditioning.

[ ] Basic Recreation Room: - It's pretty much just a break room with a couple of couches, a second-hand wide-screen TV, a video game console, and a mini-fridge for snacks and drinks. Not too shabby for destressing after a day of heroing.

[ ] Basic Science Workshop: - It's a room with a small 3D printer, a workbench and a shelf of normal tools and science equipment of the mundane quality. Good for some basic tinkering and experimentation. Things may still explode, though.

[ ] Basic Magic workshop: - For magical pursuits and hobbies related to the occult, there's a workbench with the basic tools to make simple charms and the likes, if you've read some of the basic occult texts in the connected library. Things may still explode, though.

[ ] Basic Garage: - It's a place where you can keep your car or you would if you owned a car. Luckily for you, the main branch has left you a transport vehicle (an armoured van) and a high-speed pursuit vehicle (a rider-grade motorcycle). Everything to repair and maintain most mundane vehicle is available here. One day though, you'll be keeping giant robots in here.

[ ] Basic Dormitory: - It's both safer and cheaper to live on Base rather than having to rent an apartment in the city. It's not fantastic but it's better than a cheap motel at least. You get a room with a clean bed, a dresser for clothes and stuff, and a locker for your crap. No bathtubs though, only showers, toilets, and sinks. There's also a small kitchen and dining room for everyone to come together at mealtimes.

Current Facilities: -
Basic Command Center
Basic Medical Bay
Basic Armoury
Improved Spy Network
Improved Containment

Week 0 - What's up in Crossville
[X] Garage
[X] Dormitory

You were pleased with the fact that the Main Branch had set up a fair size dormitory in your base. You'd originally been planning on renting a cheap apartment but with this, you won't have to worry about your housing situation. Admittedly the rooms aren't very big so most of your non-essential stuff is currently in storage for the time being. At least you won't have to worry about paying rent. The garage was also a nice bonus despite the fact that you can run as fast as most vehicles. Still good for slower people though.

With the tour of the base done, you get down to business. While the command centre could double as a meeting room with a press of a button since there's only you and Snow in the building, you decide to have Snow give you the lowdown in the dormitory dining room over a quick snack.

Munching on a simple carrot and apple salad, you proceed to ask Snow about the current situation in Crossville.

"Alrighty then JJ, let me tell you all about what's what in little old Crossville! On the surface, things look nice and quiet. A couple of villains, one or two monsters, and a few small-time crimes. Nothing that the regular police or local heroes aren't able to handle."

You nod, having been told that much when Buster King and Anti-V made you Crossville Branch leader. You thought it was strange yourself when you were informed that the Guardians were setting up a branch over in Crossville but they assured you that something big was coming and they wanted you to be the first line of defence.

"At least that what's things were like about a week ago. I have it on good word that shipments of weapons have been making their way to Crossville and there have been rumours of a strange woman who's apparently recruiting for an unknown organisation out in public."

Always one of those around. The weapon shipments sound like bad new but it's still too early to blow the whistle on this chick and her mysterious organisation. You give it a couple of days, a week tops for it to turn out to be an evil organisation hell-bent on conquering the world…again.

"There's also been lots of complaints about bikers causing disturbances at night despite the fact that no-one has really seen these guys. There has also been missing people report that the police has barely made any progress on. Oh, and there may be a hidden ninja clan making their home in Crossville."

Sounds like there's one or more Rider Masks racing around town. People are always going missing but that usually means either kidnapping or something been eating people. Now the hidden ninja clan is a problem if it actually exists but you trust Snow on this. She's an old hand at all this knife and dagger stuff so she knows the signs when she sees them. Still ninja clans usually either means that the government is hiring ninjas or there's a big shot criminal hiring them or there's a demon invasion attempt undergoing way in Crossville. Sometimes it's all three and then some. You can only hope things don't go to hell while you're here. But you know how the old saying goes, "Hope for the best, and prepare for the worst".

"And that's about what I've got so far. Since I did everything on such short notice, I wasn't able to get you more information. This is so embarrassing! I promise to get you everything as soon as possible, JJ!" Snow looks distraught that she believes she didn't do a good enough job despite giving you way more than you expected. Despite her therapy sessions and much-improved outlook on life, she still has her hang ups.

You make sure to let her know that she did great and that you now have a starting point to begin work as Crossville Guardian Team Leader. Snow leaves to continue monitoring the situation but not before giving you a warm smile. It still kinda amazing that the young woman before you was once one of the most frigid and heartless killers you have ever met.

With that out of the way, you begin to make plans for the week. There's a lot you can do before you actually start doing work as a Guardian Branch Leader. You can go out and explore the city to get a better feel for things. You're still new here so you should probably get acquainted with where the interesting places are. You could get a start on resolving those incidents and cases that Snow just told you about. Or perhaps you should greet important people like the mayor and the police commissioner since you're going be seeing them sooner or later. You could even take a class and learn something new.

You are also not going to slack off your training so you'll be setting time aside for that as well.

Now then, what are you going to do?

[0.1] City Exploration and Ninja Problems
Week 0 - part 1

[X] Explore the city

Crossville is a large city and has been around for around thirty years. Originally starting life as a small village, it was thanks to a mistake in road planning that resulted in two large highways that intersected each other right in the middle of the then small village. Not wanting to deal with the trouble of relocating the village, it was left alone. The villagers took advantage of the fact that their small community now had hundreds, thousands of people driving through the city and began setting up shops and motels to bring in money to the village. The village quickly grew in size and before long it had become a city.

Crossville as a city is divided into four main areas by the two massive intersecting highways that made it the city it is today. Each area can be divided into smaller districts and at the centre of the city where the highway intersect is the CBD, the financial and economic center of Crossville is located. It is also where the Guardian Branch HQ is located.

The north area is where the majority of the middle-class residential districts are located along with a number of schools for primary and secondary education as well as a few hospitals and shopping districts.

The east area is where the rest of the middle-class residential district can be found along with the high-class residential districts as well. It is also where most of the city's art, music, and literature buildings can be found.

The south area is a strange mix of low class residential, industrial, commercial and agricultural districts. It is also where much of the cities parklands and nature zones can be found. It also hosts the highest concentration of non-humans in the city, mainly beastfolks, extra-terrestrials, and spirits.

The west area is where most of the city's industry is located along. It is also where a lot of companies have their research facilities and the likes located. It is also unfortunately where the slums are located as well.

There are roughly twenty different districts in Crossville and you going to have to know which district is which if you going to be a superhero here.

For now, you're just exploring the city to familiarise yourself with the people and various locations that will be good to know in an emergency.

Exploration Roll: 35 (Minor Setback)

Unfortunately, unlike Moondew Valley, the people here are very aware of who you are and what you've done. It's hard to enjoy sightseeing when you have people calling you names, laughing at you, and constantly interrupting your sightseeing plans. Worse, it appears that word's out that you're in Crossville. Nothing official yet, only various social networking sites have started telling the world that you're in Crossville in your hero suit.

The comments on facebook and twitter are disheartening. No one seems to think that you're a proper hero anymore and that you being in Crossville has been taken as you being reassigned to a position out of the way from proper heroes. You do note that Snow has been doing damage control so all that has happened is the public's opinion of you having dropped further.

Eh, what else is new.

[Reputation suffers five points of damage. Reputation is now: -55 (Dude you suck!)]

Stealth Roll: 95+30: 125: Critical Roll: 23+25: 48

However, you refused to let your less-than-stellar reputation ruin your day so when you headed out the next day, you went in disguise. With your head bandaged up like a mummy and a scarf masking your snout as well as you wearing a sharp looking sit provided by Snow, nobody looks at you twice. People in this day and age are too use to strange looking people and you're barely a blip on the weirdness sensor in your getup.

On that note, you might have done a too good of a job with you disguise because during the week, while checking out the museum for any objects of suspicion, some guy bumped into you on purpose, slipping you an envelope and disappearing before you could ask what the heck was that all about.

The envelope contained a letter detailing a negotiation between someone called Mister M and his associates about the weapon shipments that Snow detected were coming into Crossville. Score! Looks like you just got a massive lead on that problem.

On that note, Snow informed you that some guy in a similar getup as you had been caught in a car accident that day. Well, talk about lucky breaks.

[Lead on Illegal Weapon Shipment Found. Illegal Weapon Shipment Investigation available next week.]

[X] Search for Ninjas

Perception: People Roll: 92+20: 112: Critical Success: 92+12: 104: Second Critical Success: 93+4: 97

Deciding to look into the ninja situation, you were met with almost immediate success. Shortly after the incident at the museum, you noticed that several people had been following you around. Disguised as various pedestrians, workers, and a dog in one case, your powerful sense picked up something was off about all of them.

Deciding to nip this situation in the bud, you made a show of stroking the dog's head affectionately. Whoever was pretending to be a dog was doing so almost perfectly but your instincts told you that what you were petting was no dog. Then, without warning, you picked up the dog and ran off with it. Despite being ninjas, you easily threw them off despite the fake dog struggling in your grasp.

Once you determined that they were gone, you headed back to base where you threw the dog into containment. Energy tendrils quickly lock the dog in midair, unable to move anything except their mouth. Snow simply watches from the sideline, waiting for something to happen. The former assassin didn't hesitate to open up containment just for a dog, believing you completely that the dog was, in fact, a ninja.

"Grrrrr!" The ninja disguised as a dog growls at you and you respect that they refuse to break character despite the situation they are now in. However, you aren't having none of that.

"I already know you're not a dog. So stop being one." You request curtly. The dog simply continues growling and snapping at you for a few minutes but eventually it stop and lets out a sigh.

"Well, I must admit, this is quite embarrassing." The dog mutters in resignation before exploding in a cloud of smoke. Ventilation quickly clears the smoke and you find a middle-aged man wearing a black outfit trapped in a tangle of glowing rope. "You are far more skill than your reputation says." Then he smirks. "But not nearly skilled enough."

Suddenly he explodes into smoke again, and you see a log in his place. However, in that moment, Snow moves.

"FREEZE!"

"GAH! COLD!"

Turning around, you find the ninja trapped in a block of ice with only his head free. Snow whistles innocently as she leaves the room with you and the ninja staring after her.

"…If this was a mission of great importance, I would be asking for you to assist me in seppuku." The ninja says with a hint of awe in his voice. "However, the mission that I have been given was not a critical one and all that has been hurt is my clan's pride."

"Is that so?" You're still trying to process how the ninja managed to escape the energy bindings that were capable of holding a B class Brute only to end up being caught by Snow almost immediately.

"Indeed. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kai and I am a member of the Zerozaki Clan. We mean you no harm, Jackrabbit-san. This I assure you. Now could you kindly break me free from this ice? It is awfully cold."

About ten minutes and a cup of hot cocoa later, you are seated in the command centre across Kai with Snow watching to make sure he doesn't try any funny business.

"Okay, so talk. Why were the Zerozaki clan following me?"

"Simple. Information is power as you must have heard numerous time and when the Guardians set up shop in our city, we the Zerozaki must know what new player has arrived."

"Meaning us, me and Snow."

"That is correct. While we are already quite informed on Esd – "

"Snow. It's Snow or Miss Snow." Your friend interrupts. She has long since abandoned her old name and she does not hesitate in punishing anyone who uses it.

"Apologies, Miss Snow. In any case, we knew quite a bit about Miss Snow but we only had outdated information about you, Jackrabbit-san. Considering that you have been absent from the superhero scene for several month, especially after your appearance on James Rogans Talk-show, we decided to rectify that."

"So you decided to follow me around as a dog."

"Yes though as you can see, you easily penetrated our disguises. For that, I praise your observation skills. Not many can see through our deception so easily."

"Right, right. So what does the Zerozaki want?"

"I shall be frank. One of our members is capable of divining future events and what they have predicted unsettles my entire clan. We hoped that once we have finished investigating you and the future members of your branch, we would be in a better position to negotiate an exchange of resources and services."

"Is that so?"

"It is so."

"So what now?"

"Give me one moment" Kai took out a smartphone from…somewhere and started texting. As you wait for Kai, Snow goes off to make some tea. After a couple of minutes, Kai puts away the phone and pulls out a scroll. At the same time, your Guardian COMP starts vibrating.

What was it now?

Kai stops what he's doing when you raise a hand as you check the message on your COMP. A holographic screen appears in front of you and boxes start showing up. Urgh, you can barely understand what half of these boxes are saying so you just close them all and open up the inbox. One of these days you'll have to learn how to use these things properly.

Huh, it looks like the Guardian just confirmed that a new hero will be joining your branch. Well, ain't that nice? Since it's only you and Snow at the moment, having more manpower will be a great help to future endeavours. According to the information that the Guardians have given you, the new hero is called Blossom who as expected has plant-based powers. Turning off your COMP, you return your attention back to Kai. Motioning him to continue, Kai opens up the scroll and lay it spread out across the floor.

"Kai, what the hell are you doing?" You ask as you look at what's on the scroll. A large kanji in ink that you don't recognise and squiggly lines going out from it plus more kanji that you can't read on the left and right sides of the scroll.

"Summoning." Kai bites his thumb and slams it into the middle of the scroll. Blood spreads out from where he presses against the paper and before you can do anything, smoke fills your vision.

"Wh-Wha-What's going on!?" You hear something cry out. Female, unfamiliar, an unknown. You punch at the smoke, blowing it away with the wind thrown by your fist. You then find yourself staring at a girl in her early teen…in her underwear looking very confused and embarrassed. Kai stares at the girl for a few moments before face-palming. The sound of palm meeting face catches the girl's attention and she turns around and upon seeing Kai, kneels with her head down. "M-Master Kai! I –"

"Misaki, you were told to be on stand-by in case this happened." Kai sullenly states, not a hint of amusement in his tone. "Why are you in your underwear?"

"I-I was putting on my clothes after taking a bath, Master Kai," Misaki explains shakily. Her quickened pulse and the slight hitch in her voice says she's lying.

"Hmmph, you lie but that doesn't matter now. As of today, you shall be part of Crossville Guardians."

"What." Did you hear him correctly? Did the ninja just say that this girl was to be part of the Guardians?!

"Master Kai? I-I don't understand."

"And you do not need to. All you must know is that to help further our influence in Crossville, you are to become an exemplary heroine. Your codename shall be Blossom."

….How the hell did this Zerozaki Clan get the guardians to register a brand new hero in a few minutes!?

"W-What!? But I haven't even finished my training, Master Kai!" Misaki protests with tears starting to well up at the corners of her eyes.

"Consider this part of your training then. Now go find something to wear." Kai says, dismissing his apparent student who hesitates but eventually bows before leaving the command centre to presumably find some clothes. Kai lets out a weary sigh before turning to you. "I apologise for that. Most of our other students are much more disciplined. I hope you do not hold this incident against her."

"Wait! Hold on a second! Just what the fuck was that!? How the flipping hell did you get the Guardians to register her so fucking fast?!"

"Oh, that? We've been preparing for this for a little while now. Unfortunately, the one who was meant to originally take the mission is currently unable to do so thus why Misaki is here due to the fact that her particular skill set, lacking as it is at this time, is the only one that matches what we have registered beforehand. And no, I will not explain why we have done so. The clan will be sending Misaki's possession over tomorrow. I hope that you will take care of her and help her become stronger, Jackrabbit-san."

"Now hold up just a second here, I haven't – "

"Until we meet again!" Kai throws down a smoke bomb and fills the room with white smoke. You lunge at him but he's already gone, leaving you with a wet-behind-the-ears ninja hero in training.

Shit.

"Tea's ready and oh, did he leave already? Ninja are just so rude!" And Snow comes in carrying a tray of tea and biscuit. "I suppose that's more for us then?"

"Excuse, do you have any spare clothes that I can – GAH! COLD!"

"JJ…Why is there a half-naked teenage girl walking around the base?"

God, you hate ninjas.

Week 0 - Training: Beastman Diplomacy
AN: Decided to write instead of going to bed :p

Week 0 – Training

[X] Diplomacy 0 + 10 = 10

5: There're no two ways about it. You suck at talking to people. You tend to be blunt, rude and you constantly assume people get what you're saying despite you not explaining the context. It's probably why you don't have many real friends. A lot of people used to say they were your pals but that was mostly because of your good reputation and what you were capable of. Your real friends get you but only because they know what kind of person you are. Perhaps if you knew how to talk to people better, the incident wouldn't have happened. Maybe. To begin to rectify this, you went out and bought a book on how to talk to people. It's not much but it's a start. Already you get that you need to be more polite when speaking to strangers and be cheerful around friends. You can now be polite to people without offending them. Much.

10: Talking to people is hard. You tried being more polite to Snow but she simply asked if you had a cold or something. Going through the book some more, you realise that certain people might be put off by you being overly polite due to being used to you being your usual self. You also realise that being polite requires a bit of formality to be injected into the conversation. That and you should be aware of other people's culture and custom to avoid offending them by accident or something like that. Smiling also seems to be a thing so you should smile more. After practising your smile in the mirror, you think you've got it. You now know when it is best to be polite and when it is fine not to be polite. Also, you have a good smile.

[X] Beastman: 10+10=20

15: You are a beastman. A hybrid between human and animal. You are essentially a human that has been born with the traits and appearance of an animal, in your case a rabbit. Because of that, you are faster, more perceptive and stronger than a normal human. Recently, you been getting this weird feeling when you think about humans and Beastmen. Why do some Beastmen look like humans with animal ears and tails and yet still retain the same kind of ability that their less human counterparts have? It is said that beastman are descended from magical animals that turned human to mate with normal humans. You just know there's a connection there. After all, there are some Beastmen practically just animals that have been remodelled to have a human skeletal structure while there are guys like you who look like humans with animal heads. Your search for answers leads you to a report on Lycans. Werewolves are known to be able to shift between various forms such becoming human, beasts, monstrous beastman, and normal looking beastmen. It might be due to their curse but what's stopping a regular beastman from doing the same thing? The report had described how a werewolf shifted from beast to human as well as their thoughts and feelings. To your surprise, attempting to copy this mindset resulted in your fur receding into your body somehow. Not bad for a first attempt. It takes you several days to get a human looking face going but you did it. You can now change your head into a human one with bunny ears. Still feels kinda weird.

20: Okay, so you've learnt how to turn your head human enough to pass as one. As long as nobody looks at your body which is still lankier and furry plus your ears are still there plus your tail. Honestly, you look like one of those cosplayers who were trying to go for the full hybrid look but half-assed it at the end. Displeased with this face, you began putting more effort into your new found ability. Learning about human biology helps you nail down what you are messing up and eventually, you learn how to look human. It's tiring though plus you become as weak as a human. A beastman natural form is that of a beastman, neither human or beast. You can now temporarily look completely human at the cost of your beastman strength and speed.
