Crossville Hero Brigade GO!

[X] Basic Garage: - It's a place where you can keep your car or you would if you owned a car. Luckily for you, the main branch has left you a transport vehicle (an armoured van) and a high-speed pursuit vehicle (a rider-grade motorcycle). Everything to repair and maintain most mundane vehicle is available here. One day though, you'll be keeping giant robots in here.

[X] Basic Dormitory: - It's both safer and cheaper to live on Base rather than having to rent an apartment in the city. It's not fantastic but it's better than a cheap motel at least. You get a room with a clean bed, a dresser for clothes and stuff, and a locker for your crap. No bathtubs though, only showers, toilets, and sinks. There's also a small kitchen and dining room for everyone to come together at mealtimes.

I can definitely see why this is the majority vote. o wo)-b

[X] Basic Magic workshop: - For magical pursuits and hobbies related to the occult, there's a workbench with the basic tools to make simple charms and the likes, if you've read some of the basic occult texts in the connected library. Things may still explode, though.

We need the workshop to make full use of potions.

Week 0 - What's up in Crossville
[X] Garage
[X] Dormitory

You were pleased with the fact that the Main Branch had set up a fair size dormitory in your base. You'd originally been planning on renting a cheap apartment but with this, you won't have to worry about your housing situation. Admittedly the rooms aren't very big so most of your non-essential stuff is currently in storage for the time being. At least you won't have to worry about paying rent. The garage was also a nice bonus despite the fact that you can run as fast as most vehicles. Still good for slower people though.

With the tour of the base done, you get down to business. While the command centre could double as a meeting room with a press of a button since there's only you and Snow in the building, you decide to have Snow give you the lowdown in the dormitory dining room over a quick snack.

Munching on a simple carrot and apple salad, you proceed to ask Snow about the current situation in Crossville.

"Alrighty then JJ, let me tell you all about what's what in little old Crossville! On the surface, things look nice and quiet. A couple of villains, one or two monsters, and a few small-time crimes. Nothing that the regular police or local heroes aren't able to handle."

You nod, having been told that much when Buster King and Anti-V made you Crossville Branch leader. You thought it was strange yourself when you were informed that the Guardians were setting up a branch over in Crossville but they assured you that something big was coming and they wanted you to be the first line of defence.

"At least that what's things were like about a week ago. I have it on good word that shipments of weapons have been making their way to Crossville and there have been rumours of a strange woman who's apparently recruiting for an unknown organisation out in public."

Always one of those around. The weapon shipments sound like bad new but it's still too early to blow the whistle on this chick and her mysterious organisation. You give it a couple of days, a week tops for it to turn out to be an evil organisation hell-bent on conquering the world…again.

"There's also been lots of complaints about bikers causing disturbances at night despite the fact that no-one has really seen these guys. There has also been missing people report that the police has barely made any progress on. Oh, and there may be a hidden ninja clan making their home in Crossville."

Sounds like there's one or more Rider Masks racing around town. People are always going missing but that usually means either kidnapping or something been eating people. Now the hidden ninja clan is a problem if it actually exists but you trust Snow on this. She's an old hand at all this knife and dagger stuff so she knows the signs when she sees them. Still ninja clans usually either means that the government is hiring ninjas or there's a big shot criminal hiring them or there's a demon invasion attempt undergoing way in Crossville. Sometimes it's all three and then some. You can only hope things don't go to hell while you're here. But you know how the old saying goes, "Hope for the best, and prepare for the worst".

"And that's about what I've got so far. Since I did everything on such short notice, I wasn't able to get you more information. This is so embarrassing! I promise to get you everything as soon as possible, JJ!" Snow looks distraught that she believes she didn't do a good enough job despite giving you way more than you expected. Despite her therapy sessions and much-improved outlook on life, she still has her hang ups.

You make sure to let her know that she did great and that you now have a starting point to begin work as Crossville Guardian Team Leader. Snow leaves to continue monitoring the situation but not before giving you a warm smile. It still kinda amazing that the young woman before you was once one of the most frigid and heartless killers you have ever met.

With that out of the way, you begin to make plans for the week. There's a lot you can do before you actually start doing work as a Guardian Branch Leader. You can go out and explore the city to get a better feel for things. You're still new here so you should probably get acquainted with where the interesting places are. You could get a start on resolving those incidents and cases that Snow just told you about. Or perhaps you should greet important people like the mayor and the police commissioner since you're going be seeing them sooner or later. You could even take a class and learn something new.

You are also not going to slack off your training so you'll be setting time aside for that as well.

Now then, what are you going to do?

Week 0 Planning:

AN: Character Sheet is now available. And Yes, I'm basing the gameplay mechanics off several other quests.

I think we should wait with dealing with "important" people until we've increased our reputation a bit. We're currently getting a deduction to first impressions so...

[X] Search for Ninjas
[X] Investigate Unknown Organisation Recruiter

[X] Training: Beastman
[X] Training: Diplomacy

I think we need to know more about the situation here and while we're at it we might as well greet the neighbors right?

[X] Explore the city
[X] Search for Ninjas

For what our character is, Beastman is really low. We also get a lot of trouble with other people so we might as well try to smooth that over.

[X] Training: Beastman
[X] Training: Diplomacy

[X] Search for Ninjas
[X] Investigate Unknown Organisation Recruiter

Might as well know who we are dealing with.

[X] Training: Beastman

Diplo is obvious, and beastman because it is hilariously low compared to the rest of our stats. Kind of want to do some time control training though.

Could we possible reach Zhang levels of bullshit? Or maybe Gwen?

Also, is it weird that I picture our character constantly having a smoke? Like he just always has a cigarette and whenever it goes out, he just pops in another one?

It seems like this city is about to become a kitchensink of supernatural EEVIL! stuff. Kinda like the average OWoD city. :p

Snow can deal with the ninjas since she knows that stuff better than us. For the training, I don't know what exactly the "Beastman physiology" applies for, so I'll abstain for now (although I would have assumed we would have a greater score, considering our inheritance and Gaia's supercharging our powers). However, while Diplomacy is good and effective, leadership is a must too, since we'll be the leader of a party of heroes who don't trust us at best, ignore ourselves completely at worst.

[X]Training: Leadership
[X]Training: Diplomacy

Head: Large wide brim hat: +5 to stealth
Torso: Jackrabbit Uniform: -10 to intimidation
Legs: Pants, Armoured boots: +5 to Attack, +5 to Defense

I like how the hat makes us somehow harder to notice, while our uniform instead make us look less threatening. Is the latter because of our reputation, or because JJ's styling choices are dubious?
