Counting Sheep - A Pokemon Trainer quest

Joltik sure, but I'm not sold on burmy. It doesn't seem to have much of any possible thematic links to Mareep. Joltik has lots though, which surprised me a bit since it was more than I initially suspected. So if a joltik ever becomes an option to join our team, I'd be all for it.
To be fair, I just want a burmy because I have a massive soft spot for the line and I think a mothim would be pretty good down the line.

Apart from burmy there is swaddle or wurmple, mainly because I like bugs.

And suddenly I'm thinking that the discovery of the Fairy type was initially suppressed in Kanto and Johto due to the Dragon Clans not wanting it to get out that there were mon out there that stopped them cold.
I'm not exactly invested in helping them out, but in their defense, would you want to have to deal with a bunch of upstarts that think they can slap you around with a jigglipuff, just because of type advantage? Early gen fairies doen't make for the most imposing rivals... which is oddly fitting for something introduced in gen VI.

I can third joltik at least. Another cute Electric type can't hurt and I can just see the little bugger loving to get a ride on Marigold's back and sucking up leftover static electricity. Also now I'm wondering if one could make cloth from galvantula silk.

Talking about silk, electro web would be another good battlefield control tool alongside Marigold's Terrain move. That's honestly a theme I kind of keep coming back to after the Named vote going "demand the World bend to you." It helps that, besides being a good fit for a Ground Type like a Nido, it also feels like a theme that's actually about how we train our pokemon, while a lot of proposed themes (though, not all of them) seem to go for a group of pokemon that's neat, but have little overlap in how they might operate. (Which, to be fair, variety is a pretty natural instinct coming from the games, even if the whole point of having a theme seems to be some amount of specialisation.)

I can agree with an either Cute Control or Fluffy Control team. That seems like a really interesting restriction which means we can add a jigglypuff to our group.

I just wanted to point out jigglypuff due to the jigglypuff in the anime, which is basically our mc in pokemon form.

I dunno, we haven't quite gotten frustrated enough to start scribbling on people's faces. That being said, electric terrain prevents sleep, doesn't it? So we could actually sit through a jigglypuff concert and stay awake. There's also some team battle shenanigans, like setting up a mini territory to protect the team from sleep, while unleashing sing on the enemy. I threw it out as a joke against the dragon clan, but turns out it actually sounds surprisingly viable for the right kind of team.

That's why our proposed Theme is ideal. FLUFFY! Fluffy for the win! Galvantula and Joltik both absolutely count!

Larvesta/Volcarona? Sure. They qualify as fuzzy at the least. But Mothim? It only has scales.

True, while mothim isn't fluffy I'd say it would qualify because at least one of burmy forms could be called fluffy or one of the wormadams.
Not quite, I think. The closest one would likely be the one covered in leaves, and you won't really consider that fluffy right? The Trash form mentions that it is covered in building insulation, which I have no idea what it is made of aside from toxic asbestos. And the sand form is covered in sand and rocks, which isn't fluffy.

A theme that could work with the fluff of our Mareep and the dragon love from some is a Power-Up theme. Our starter is exceptial at storing electricity even among the member of her species. What if this energy is used to power up our pokemon and enhance her body in combat? Once she's an Ampharos, we could push this to the extreme and uses this energy to awake her dragon bloodline if the electric output is high enough. According to bulbapedia

As Mega Ampharos, its toes turn black and it regrows white wool at the back of its head and over its tail, having its genes stimulated by Mega Evolution. This energy also awakens its long-sleeping dragon blood.

Since our pokemon is Beautifull, I could see a potential Power-Up form for our Ampharos if we specialise in it as our theme.

I'd still want to get a mothim, Mon just needs to be cut a break, people barely remember that it exists and I just want to give it a day in the limelight.

But if we are going the thunder Mon route, I would settle for a grubbin instead.

Honestly guys, at this point I just want to hold off on talking more about themes until the next update when we actually learn what they entail.

We already have confirmation the dragon clan be crazy, but are they crazy enough to claim dominion on dragons from other continents like unova and galar? I can literally see the dragon clan trying to confiscate Leon's Dreepy cause they have painted themselves as that kinda dick.

I am partially assuming Iris is from the unova branch now that i think deeper on it

I think it's probably just the Kantonian/Johtonian Dragon Clan. in Galar there were the Royal Sword and Shield who could put down basically any Dragon that decided that today was the day it was choosing destruction. With the large concentration of Fairy types in Kalos there never seemed to really be a serious counterpoint to the Dragon Clan that formed. In Unova the Tao Trio, or rather the Unified Dragon serving the royal family could have kept other dragons in line without needing a dedicated clan. In Hoenn the dragon clan there revered Rayquaza who is undisputedly a protector; which would have shaped their viewpoint. Though the tribe has also been reduced to merely a handful of people, if not just the one survivor. In Alola the Tapu could pretty much put down any dragon that got uppity without issue. And in Sinnoh... again it doesn't seem like a counterpart to the Dragon Clan formed their either. Possibly due to Cynthia's family line keeping things in order?

My only rebuttal to this is how they claim dominion over the kingdra who are from the sea, cause in the pokemon world sea pokemon and flying types are essentially global mons, i would not doubt their are a load of kingdra living all over the world, doesnt stop the dragon clan claiming them as their own, unless this is a thing that horse only live in the kanto johto region thing, in which case i apologise for the attempted rebuttle

Pretty sure that if some Dragon Clan member went to Alola to try and enforce that claim, they'd get thrown out on their asses by the Tapu. As well as the Island Kahuna and Totem Pokemon tbh.

The fact that exeggutors only develop their dragon typing in Alola should be enough to utterly undermine the clan's credibility in Alola long before they start making any claims. Also, just try to keep children away from drampa, because they don't know how to properly treat a dragon. Drampa will find out where they live and their houses will burn.

I wonder how duncesparce factor in all that, I suppose they could be tentative linked to ancient dragon types but unless they have a powerful secret evolution I don't know about, the dragon shouldn't care about them.

They don't? There's no mention of Dunsparce in the entire thread aside from you bringing them up?

I know that but if I recall correctly dunsparce can learn a dragon move or two, and I was just wondering what the dragon clan would make of them. What with dunsparce being as weak as they come.
Ah. I think it's more along the lines of mon that are actually dragon typed or can learn a large number of Dragon moves.

So they wouldn't particularly care? I assumed since apparently marigold could have had access to dragon pulse and as a result the dragon clan would have some interest in her.

I'm just quite confused by this really, but since I kind of brought dunsparce up I guess it's my fault.
