The Commodore
[X] [Name] Alexandria
[X] [Gov] Constitutional Monarchy
[X] [Colony] The colony is extremely rich in rare strategic resources.

You are a commodore in service of the Kingdom of Alexandria, a newly founded colony on the edge of known space and calling this region of the galaxy 'known space' is something of a misnomer given how little is known by humanity about it.

But it is a fresh start for both you and the newly dubbed Alexandrians, one far away from the United Nations of Sol and their bloodstained hands. While the colony is nominally part of the United Nations of Sol, you are too far away for them to exert any real power over you.

The new kingdom may be ruled by King Lucas Locke and his family, but it is no tyranny. The king may be the head of state, but the prime minister is the head of government and the royal family answers to a parliament that is democratically elected by the people of Alexandria.

The second world of the Library system, Alexandria is also a decent planet to live on. While not perfectly suited for humans to live on, you can get by reasonably enough and terraforming will bridge the gap as the years go by. Beyond the habitability of the world, Alexandria is rich in natural resources, including the rare fluids that are used to generate FTL fields. The fact that Alexandria has those fluids means that it will be able to provide both FTL drives and comms, giving it leverage within the galactic stage despite its small size.

You like your new home. The planet only has a single settlement that is barely large enough to count as a small city back on one of the core worlds, but you feel welcome here. You can count King Lucas as a friend and Prime Minister Coral Poulin is a good woman that you are happy to work for.

But enough about the colony and its government, you are the commodore of the new Royal Alexandrian Navy and there is a reason that you have that position. You are no fresh recruit, given the position out of political or corporate connections, but a battle-harden veteran of the Interstellar Independence War. It was during the war that you held your first command and it was because of your actions in the war that King Lucas recruited you to be the commodore of the Royal Alexandrian Navy.

What is your Name?

What is your Gender?

How did you serve during the Interstellar Independence War?
[] [Service] You served in the UNSC during the Interstellar Independence War and the highlight of your achievements during the war was your command at Felix. Having only just become a captain, you commanded the defence fleet at Felix. A defensive post that wasn't supposed to see much action, you found yourself fending off multiple attacks as the League made multiple attacks against Felix. Rallying your forces and coordinating with the other UN military assets stationed in the system, you threw back every League assault with inspiring leadership. (Command+)
[] [Service] You were a captain belong to the navy of Spire, a world in the League of Independent Systems. Lacking experience, you were promoted to a command position in one of the newly constructed warships that had been built in preparation for the war. As the commanding officer of a cruiser, you found yourself on the frontlines many times. You fought time and time again against the UNSC and your command was repeatedly beaten and battered before being patched up and sent back into battle. You proved your courage in the war and never gave into the enemy, even in the darkest hours of the war that you ultimately lost. (Guts+)
[] [Service] You weren't a frontline fight, serving behind the battles as part of the UNSC during the Interstellar Independence War. Helping other officers plan and organise the war effort, you studied the information that was being brought in and figured out what the enemy was up. Using the insight gleamed from the intelligence reports, you helped organise the offensives and counteroffensive of the war. Your keen intellect and sharp mind proved to be vital in organising the final operations of the war that brought it to a close (Intellect+)
[] [Service] You were talented officer on the side of the rebels during the Interstellar Independence War. Space warfare comes naturally to you and you grasp the nature of war amongst the stars with an ease that escapes most others. The fighting honed your natural talents during the war and you put those battle-hardened talents to good use in the war. Your actions resulted in dozens of the UNSC warships meeting their end and your skill at the helm of a warship was respected by both sides of the war. (Skill+)

First up, there are three skills and they give bonuses to dice rolls in the right circumstances. While you will be good at all of them, your chosen background will make you extra good in one of them.

Command = Leadership & respect
Guts = Bravery and being aggressive
Intelligence = Tactics & figuring things out.
Skill = Ability to get things done.

Right now, you are designing your player character and in the next update, you will choose what fleet you start off with. After that on the fourth update of the quest, you will begin things proper as all of the creation will be done.

I have also included the colony sheet now that you have finished designing your colony.

Please point out any spelling or grammar mistakes that you spot. Please quote them in the thread and explain what you think is wrong so I know what you are referring to. Feel to ask questions for more details and information.

I'm going with this one because Alexander and Alexandria sound way too similar.

The Royal Alexandrian Navy
[X] [Name] Alexander Lancaster
[X] [Gender] Male
[X] [Service] You weren't a frontline fight, serving behind the battles as part of the UNSC during the Interstellar Independence War. Helping other officers plan and organise the war effort, you studied the information that was being brought in and figured out what the enemy was up. Using the insight gleamed from the intelligence reports, you helped organise the offensives and counteroffensive of the war. You aren't a frontline fighter and you aren't the one who led the warships into battle. What you did do is tell them where to fight their battles and what for. You have no problems going into battle on a warship, but you always left the actual fighting to the local commanding officer.

You are at home on planning out battles back in headquarters as you shift through the data that your side's warships have brought back with them or the ground forces have captured from the enemy. You are at your best when you are figuring out what the enemy is up to and planning how your forces can take out the enemy positions.

You aren't sure how much of that experience and skill will be useful out here on the fringes of space, but Alexandria isn't the only new colony on frontier and several corporations already mining outposts and research stations in this sector of space.

Frankly speaking, you would be happy with a boring and uninteresting peace after having spent a decade surviving in the Interstellar Independence War. If you never had to see combat again, that would be a godsend.

You also got more immediate matters to worry about as you begin to look at the records of Captain Lisa Saunders and her current command the RAS Enterprise, a Renown-Class Heavy Cruiser and the flagship of the Royal Alexandrian Navy.

Another veteran of the Interstellar Independence War, Saunders also fought on the same side as you as you both used to work for the UNSC. Unlike you, Saunders were a frontline fighter and it was going up against League combatants that Saunders excelled.

It was in the latter half of the war that Saunders proved herself with a junior command as commander of the UNSC forces at Felix. Originally expected to be an unexciting post, Felix found itself being the target of several League raids and it was Saunders that broke every one of them. She never let the rebels gain a foothold at Felix and the surrounding system and from your own position in the war, you know that your actions proved important by freeing up UNSC warships for other operations.

A genuine war hero and a battle-harden veteran, you are glad to have her here with you as she can cover your shortcomings when it comes to carrying out any fighting.

Putting her file to one side, you focus on the RAS Enterprise, the sole cruiser in the Royal Alexandrian Navy and if you are honest, the only one that you can afford. Even if you had a second cruiser, you wouldn't have the budget to operate both at the same time.

As expected of a Renown-class, the Enterprise is one tough old gal. Decent engines and thrusters, she is packing heavy armour and even a light shield generator. Her main armament is a heavy railgun battery, capable of punching holes in capital ships under the right circumstances, backed up by some lighter batteries, a pair of linked missile batteries and a couple of smaller railgun batteries, also linked with each other.

Her crew also know what they are doing and are a professional bunch that know what they are doing. Furthermore, the Enterprise has a full strike craft complement with a pair of interceptor squadrons plus some fighters and light bombers. With Captain Saunders at the helm, you are certain that the RAS Enterprise is great warship in this sector of space.

Switching to another set of records, you decide to review the various escort classes in service after the Interstellar Independence War as you both have some in the Royal Alexandrian Navy and any neighbouring powers will be making use of them.

Right now, there are two destroyer classes, two frigate classes and three corvette classes in service. There may be some other classes still in service somewhere, but right now, only a few are still being constructed.

The Daring-Class Destroyer is the heaviest escort around with steady armour plating alongside a strong set of railguns backed up by lighter batteries of missiles along the sides and a prow-mounted laser battery. It also has the hangar space for a squadron of strike craft. Capable of holding its own against any escort tier ship, the Daring-Class has its place either in a battle line or acting as the centre of an escort-only taskforce.

The Swift-Class Destroyer lacks the firepower of the Daring-Class, but makes up for it with speed. It sacrifices heavier armour to make room for a light shield generator giving it a mixture of light shields and armour. It also has twice as many engines and thrusters as the Daring-Class, making it one of the most mobile warships in service. Like the Daring-Class, the Swift-Class has room for a squadron of strike craft. Weapon-wise, it has a light railgun battery, but its main armaments are a pair of light missile batteries to overwhelm its enemies with missiles.

The Spear-Class Frigate isn't meant to operate on its own. Built around a spinal railgun, the Spear-Class is something of a glass cannon as it can put out far more firepower than it can take. Armed with a light shield generator and regular engines, the only thing that stands out about the Spear-Class is that it is built around a single gun and lacks any others.

The Kilo-Class Frigate is more conventional than the Spear-Class with light armour plating and two light batteries of railguns and missile pods. A good reliable ship for its size, there is nothing standout about it.

Then you got the different types of corvettes. While they got different hulls, the Scout-Class and the Watchman-Class are extremely similar in ability beyond the former having missile pods while the latter has railguns. The Seeker-Class is the most different with the place of any light armour being taken up by a shield generator while it has a railgun battery like the Watchman-Class.

What additional warships does the Royal Alexandrian Navy have? Pick three options and each option may be chosen multiple times.
[] [Warship] A Daring-Class Destroyer.

Two destroyers built for survivability and firepower. A team of frigates to cover our flanks and do light duties. A good force mixture, plus it may be a long while before we can get more destroyers at all with mention of our budget issues. Best to have the heavy metal up-front.

If we could afford the large shipyard I would have taken it. Medium shipyard will do then. Repairs, domestic shipbuilding, and strategic resupply all in one package. We'll need to really protect it, but shipyards can't be easy to come by or upgrade so lets get a head start. The rest can come from what the shipyard can build.

And as for marines, well when a situation needs marines you REALLY need marines. Best to have some veterans around for when we REALLY need them.
