[X] Check to see if the Grunts left the keys in a van and drive to the Escape Route.

If we do this properly, we'll look like just another Team Olympus van among the many currently in town. We might be able to pick up some survivors (and perhaps a better driver) too. Also, we'll have to make sure we don't get misidentified and attacked when we reach the Escape Route. There are many ways this can go wrong...but the idea's too fun to not try.

So, it's not likely that the criminal team are using the emergency alarms as a way to gather people in one spot, is it?

I'm guessing it's more about causing terror than efficiently killing everyone? Or else there are probably ranged attacks that could do a lot more damage than sending vans of grunts to each neighborhood.

Crash Course
[] Check to see if the Grunts left the keys in a van and drive to the Escape Route.

You sneak across the street to one of the vans, keeping your head down, you crouch-walk towards a van with it's driver's side front door slightly ajar and peer inside.

Score! Right in the ignition!

Chances are, they didn't think they'd be gone for long. Or they figured they'd need a quick getaway.

As you open the door, you realize that you've never driven before. Still, you've seen people drive before. How hard can it be?

You turn the key in the ignition.

Nothing.

No no no! You think as you frantically turn the keys, the steering wheel, the gear shift, press the pedals, even mess with the radio trying to get it to work.

"Hey!"

You look up and see a Team Olympus Grunt looking at you with an equally angry Golem.

Looks like this is it. Now or never. You turn the keys one more time.

And the sound of the engine turning over is like a holy chorus to your ears.

"Golem! Use Earthquake!" You hear the man cry.

"But that's our van!" Another grunt pleads as the Golem launches the attack.

As hard as you can, you press the gas pedal, lurching your new van in reverse. You nearly slam your head into the steering wheel but the ground collapsing and the front of the van occasionally dipping as the newly created fissure threatens to overtake you gives you all the reason not to slow down. After several blocks of backwards driving, you leave the range of the Earthquake. Looking at the group of grunts, you see one yell something at his Watchog(?) While you don't hear what he says, the Hyper Beam it fires out of it's mouth gives you an idea.

In a panic, you just start turning left, the van hopping the curb and smashing through a fence before hitting a large tree. You are sent back into your seat and your windshield is cracked but you're mostly unharmed. But the beam passes by your van, hitting a nearby house. Shifting the car into drive before another grunt can get their pokemon to attack you, you drive forward, ignoring the sound of the bumper dragging on the asphalt.

Your driving is erratic, even by the standards of someone trying to get away. You can barely drive in a straight line. Still you manage to get away without hitting anything else. You consider what you can do from here. Making it to the Escape Route would be almost trivial now. Provided no one else in Team Olympus knew about you.

[] Head to the Escape Route. Everyone's probably made it.

[] Look for survivors. If someone else is out there then they may need help.

[X] Head to the Escape Route.
-[X] Keep an eye out for survivors as you head there.

With no team of our own, there's not much we can do to fight back at the moment. And looking for survivors in town means encountering grunts who do have teams of their own. One lucky strike from the grunts and we'd be dead or captured.

Looking at the group of grunts, you see yell something at his
"you see one yell"?

"trivial now"?

Can we please grab someone who can actually drive first? We got 15+ rolls, and still crashed into a tree. I really doubt our ability to drive without killing ourselves.

Voting locked in 30 minutes. Looks like Bard's heading straight for the Escape Route.

Next Update, You finally get to choose a pokemon!

You aren't attacked for the rest of the journey. Most Team Olympus Grunts seem to ignore you, figuring you are one of their own. But you don't see any survivors either. Though they may be keeping their heads down at the sight of one of Team Olympus' vans.

The rest of Nyasa doesn't look like it has fared much better. while some houses are intact, several are damaged, either from battles between the people protecting their homes and Olympus, or them just burning down buildings for kicks. Seeing your home like this, with nothing you can do about it...

You wipe a tear from your eyes. You need to focus on the road.

You turn the corner and head for the building headed for the Escape Route. You recognize it immediately. It's unimpressive overall. The building was small, wooden, and rectangular with it's back wall against the mountain and a sign that read "Evacuation Center" off to the side.

You see four trainers with several pokemon outside apparently standing guard while a small group of people run into the building. Judging from the scorch marks, craters, and one Harayama that apparently a Team Olympus Grunt didn't bother to recall before fleeing, Team Olympus found this place too.

You stop the van a while before getting to the building itself. You don't want to be confused for an attacker. Stepping out of the van, you start jogging the rest of the way. One of the trainers sees you and points you out to the rest. One in particular seems elated to see you.

"Bard!" Your mother yelled as she runs towards you and almost suffocates you in a hug. "I was worried about you! When you didn't pick up..."

You remember that you had set your pokegear to silent yesterday. Still, if it rang while you were trying to sneak around...

"I'll be right back" Mom hesitantly says to the other trainers. "I... I just need to say goodbye for now." After a series of affirmatives from the other trainers, you both enter the building.

The inside of it is as dull as the outside, with a couch to the right, a desk to the left and a door right across from the entrance. The only thing that was unusual was that the door way, instead of leading to another room, lead to a tunnel that had been blasted out. Lights powered by emergency generators lit up the underground tunnel. It stretches on for about twenty feet before ending with a ladder leading to the rest of the route.

"I think we'll be safe here for now" Mom says, sighing in relief. You just start catching your breath as the adrenaline wears off before she takes out an Ultra Ball and opens it, revealing her Lucario.

"Lucario, the time has come" she says to the pokemon calmly. "Go find Wilson." She almost spits the name. You haven't heard her sound this angry in a while.

"Tell him the time for cowardice is over. Tell him to redeem himself" She continues, determined.

The pokemon nods and almost faster than you can register, he runs down the Escape Route.

"Bard, you're growing up. I know you're ready for your first pokemon. We have pokemon stored down here in case of emergencies. If you want to help to stop Team Olympus y-"

"Aria!" You hear someone yell. You and mom turn to a teenager. You've seen him around the neighborhood before but his name escapes you. You note that he's supporting an injured Croconaw.

"Team Olympus is coming back and they're bringing more goons! If you don't help they're gonna break through!" Already, you can hear the sounds of battling.

"I'll be there in a minute!" Mom yells back. You see the Croconaw wince as he holds his side, trying to slow the bleeding.

[] (Field Medic) Use a potion to help heal the Croconaw. He doesn't look like he can take much more.
[] Go further into the escape route.

Mom puts a hand on your shoulder. "Bard, go to Zanzivar Town and stay at the Pokemon Center until it's safe."

You are about to respond before your mom pulls you into a tight hug.

"Bard." She says. "I love you. Please be safe. For me"

[] "I will. Thanks Mom"
[] "Give 'em hell, alright?"
[] Write in.

She takes out another Ultra Ball and heads out of the cave. Her stride full of purpose.

After you descend the ladder, you see the case your mother was talking about. It has already been opened and a lot of pokeballs are missing. However, there are three left. Reaching for them, you pick...

[] Take Bellsprout
[] Take Horsea
[] Take Magby

You take the pokeball, confident in your choice. Now, you consider if you want to give your pokemon a nickname. Something to set them apart from other pokemon of the same type. Though if you do, it should be something memorable. Or at least not generic. You briefly consider and decide to...

(Do you want to nickname your choice?)

Is the Horsea male or female? Can't decide a on name if I don't know the gender.

[X] Name the Horsea sárkánykígyó, after a dragon that rules over storms and bad weather. The name is Welsh, of choose it looks like something out of Lovecraft.

Okay, there aren't any names I'd mind, but can we just have one rule here about naming.

Let's have it be something that could be pronounced by mortal tongues without summoning Cthulhu. If it's not that hard to spell it and type it that would also be nice.

[X] Yes.
-[X] Kyogre

- I'm worried our mom will do something reckless, so I'm not telling her to give it her all.
- Bellsprout is tempting for Sleep Powder hax, but then there's the future Dragon. Hmm, anyone here read Straight Elf's Traveler story? His descriptions of both Kingdra and Magmortar are quite magnificent.
- As for the name, gotta have high aspirations. :D
