Cacophony (A Zerg ....Presidency Quest? In 40k??)

I believe we still have some essence that contains information about Overlord because if we don't, we will need to find a substitute which would be the communication system of Terrans which we can infect, while I doubt it will give the same benefits as Overlord, it may give us better foundation, especially thanks to our biological matter surrounding the communication centre would reinforce it. We should start infiltrating Terran cities and start infecting them, especially given we have limited units that we can create.

@Stalin_McRally

Yeah, I'm definitely of the mind to invest into burrowing, find ways to replace trees and bioform pigmentation (chlorophyll?) with creep just so we can exist in a more inconspicuous state, and work towards subtly infesting terrans.

@Stalin_McRally

Looks good. I wonder if we can specifically morph hoverwings to have a similar silhouette as current terran life of this planet so we don't scare anyone when flying overhead.

Zhakarov: Zigzy, it seems the cluster favors you. As such if you are still willing I would concede to a Unity mind for the coming solar rotations. @Stalin_McRally

Zigzy One, in the cold, calculating depths of neural connections, throws a calculated wrench into the Unity discussions, suggesting a pragmatic alliance with the warmind Zren to form a Triumverate of minds. Zhakarov, the cerebral mind with echoes of terran sapience for guidance, should formulate a clinical plan that dissects skillsets with ruthless efficiency, leveraging experience in cold, hard number-crunching. Perhaps this one was a logistician before its ascension?

Now, if this proposed tri-merger raises objections, Zigzy One is prepared to strip it down to essentials, reverting to a plan with just two minds – no room for sentimentality or unnecessary complexities. The mental arena is a battleground of decisions and strategic maneuvers, with Zigzy One ready to embrace a more ruthless approach within the Zerg consciousness even in the absence of a present Warmind.

Current Morphs
Current Static Morphs as The Triat

NamePurpose
HatcheryTo birth larvae in vast quantities, the core of our expansion, the most valued of all our children.
Evolution ChamberA cavernous chamber wherein strains are tested and integrated into the Swarm after they evolve outside it, the core of any evolutionary effort.
Spinethorn WallA flora adapted to our use, growing to large sizes and constricting any that disturb its rest with spined thorns and powerful hydraulic musculature. (Mechanically, an enemy must either succeed on a War test or merely engage the wall to attack any Zerg structures or creatures defended by it.)
Assembly PitA pit of adapted graspers able to manipulate objects with astounding precision, down to almost microscopic precision. It is used primarily for investigation and assembly of static technology, for what that is worth to Zerg.

Current Mobile Morphs as of The Triat
NamePurpose
DroneA time-honoured morph, it is a medium-sized hovering worker, capable of ripping whole trees from the earth, digging tunnels and morphing into any structure of the Zerg.
HoverwingA flying insectile morph. Its lack of deeper changes leads to little visual difference from its kin save for a mildly changed eye colour due to internal Essence. It can still survive for a time away from Creep without significant changes. It can fly at roughly twice the pace of a sprinting human and is a small morph.
CrotalidComing in at the length of 3 humans and well over that in weight, it is a massive lifeform, larger than a Drone and able to damage one by merely shifting its mass forcefully. It is a quadrupedal morph capable of short sprints at speed and a steady pace otherwise with noted amphibious qualities.
RoachAn old bioform, roughly the height of an armoured Terran Marine, capable of rapid regeneration, possessed of a thick carapace and the ability to vomit streaks of virally infested acid at large distances.

Agzon: I already have some ideas for some creations, but we first need to find an equalivant of Vespan Gas for Terrans, given the pollution in the air, they use some kind of fuel, is it a carbon-based one or something completely different?

The swarm shifts to answer, data being fed.

Some form of hydrocarbon residue, high energy.

Zren: Agreement Unity of Three that shall be One Mind useful for Swarm. Restore what was lost and prepare for Terrans.

Term 2
The zerg are retaken, three minds holding one rein. Harvesting continues, biomass ripped from the earth as creep thickens to store it long-term. Woods are chopped back further whilst the minerals of the earth are torn out, bonded with photonic energy and turned to stored sugars and energy.

Essence is stored in the flow whilst hundreds of morphs work the land further, extracting and helping the creep work. Terrans come terrifyingly close to us several times as the Selection continued, nearly spotting drones on several instances and otherwise being a bothersome presence.

In the angles of vision most ignored, Terrans march, angry, tired, searching, hungry. Hungry like hawks, hawks that are hunting, hunting hawks that are hunting us. Infinite maws spitting light that cooks and cleans us from this world from all worlds-Must Evolve/Hide/Hunt/Grow/Change.

Second Mind Zigzy, "Hunting Hawks."

Enemies surround the Swarm. Familiar terrans, buoyed by impressive technology and means. The population of this world could overwhelm us, a rapid strike is needed, disentangle industrial centres from population. Herd lifeforms into evolution chambers, infest promising minds, turn the rest into useful morphs, they cannot be allowed to continue.

Third Mind Zren, "The Terran Problem."

"A triat mind is an odd existence, multiple perspectives merged into one odd existence. We are separate, yet conjoined. One may describe as a living community, our thoughts differ, but our eventual exterior response is merged into one no matter mild disagreements.

A deep connection, unnatural even by the standards of the Swarm, but perhaps competitive compared to single-rule."

First Mind Zhakarov, "The Triat Experiment."

Begin, the First Triat.

Term 2.2
A drone digs down, engorged with biomass and barely able to feel any part of its body past the additional weight. It settles hundreds of metres down, far away from any subjects, nestled between stone and the lavaflows beneath, subsisting off heat and not much else.

Spinethorns consume the area, securing all major avenues of approach with several layers of defense. Writhing masses of tendrils seeking movement, seeking life. Hoverwings spawn in flocks, raising up and flying high to observe. Drones slither into the environment, hovering on antigravity organs whilst they work and Crotalids, newly integrated morphs that they are, swirl into rivers and ponds, infesting the waterways as they rest, awaiting orders.

No more interesting lifeforms seem present on the immediate area of our hive, we see some in the long flights of the Hoverwings to the edge of our travel range, but the Terran hunters are far more vulnerable. Drones leap upon them and with only minor structural damage to the Terrans, drag them back to the hive and shove them into Evolution Chambers for dismantlement and infestation.

Battlesites are deep within urban areas, out of our reach. The hunters are the extent of our capability to grab humans, their ballistic weapons sounding out gunpowder shots and hurting drones in the capture process. Those selfsame urban centres are investigated by hoverwings.

Revolts are spreading all throughout the centres we can reach, eight of them specifically, obsessed with armoured convoys containing sustenance. Crowds are gunned down and the convoys continue whenever the crowd attempts to rush the trucks for caloric needs.

The Terrans are infested reasonably well by the honed efforts of Zigzy, creating stumbling monsters that we keep inside the chambers for now, not wanting their aggression and half-baked memories to led them to stumbling off. We get vague memories of home, policing, the "revolt", but the minds of the infested do not stay very intact in the process.

"Bone-crunch, skin-split, flesh-tear. The dance of creation/recreation. Terran substrate slow, weak, fragile. Its only saving grace, neurology, mindset produced from neurology, difficult to reproduce. The Terran Essence is crude and inefficient.

Why does it hide secrets.

Second Mind Zigzy, "Terran Essence"

We acquire some of these livestock animals, noting them being tended to by hunters that we captured and attempt infestation, the difficulty of the matter is keeping the mutations under wraps. Infestation is viral, vicious, tumorous, unpredictably changing the Essence of the subject.

The results are too changed to be usable, they would not be able to be slipped into current populations.

Hoverwings do locate vast herds of the creature, the Grox from infested memory, confirming their use as livestock by the Terrans.

Local flora is brought into our evolutionary network, trees feeding us further as we densify them to hide our hives more efficiently. Its primarily against Terran flying machines moreso than anything else, but with their flight being common between cities, there is right to fear such a thing.

Spinethorn walls are approached by Zigzy, once again breaking them apart into their components and attempting to improve their aggression. Primitive tasters are iterated by rapid generational exposure to starvation scenarios, extending their length as tiny, near-microscopic filaments that extend for dozens of metres.

Spinethorn is laid along the floor moreso than up-high with this new development, allowing it to be walked into and stretch out to grip and pull individuals into the mass, followed usually by a rending limb from limb due to increasing pressure.

Finally, Crotalids are investigated. Their odd strands compared by the tremendously experienced Zigzy to previous lifeforms in its long memory of sequences. The following is Zigzy's internal dialogue during the discovery process.

"Strands, irritating. Reptilian but with something else instilled. It calls back to Terran or even Protoss sequences in character, not origin. Revelation. Psychic influence in genetic code…originating from where?

Experimentation with hyper-presentation of appropriate strands after triggers are located. Extreme hunger and a lack of nearby ability to feed self. The creature attempts to create a warpspace anomaly. It seems the current creature mass is insufficient to support warpjump.

Aside: Unknown thoughts began spreading in my mentality with warpspace anomaly. I believe it was fear."

Second Mind Zigzy, "The Crotalid Sequences"

A spike of terror spreads through the hive. A Crotalid lounging in a nearby riverway is suddenly aware of a team of humans in equipment moving through their area of control with a vehicle behind them. The vehicle is moving towards hive at a quick pace, sending gouts of flame at obstacles.

The Crotalid lies in wait as they near a natural crossing point before roaring out of the water, tearing the crew compartment of the vehicle free whilst bullets rip into its hide and get caught in layers of muscle. Elsewhere, dozens of other engagements take place as Hoverwings focus on keeping track of enemy movements.

Rotor-craft begin to search the skies around where Terran hunters were taken, perhaps suggesting they were more important than was initially believed, and more assets are being deployed into the area. Crotalids reap a bloody toll across major crossings and digging out of Drone prepared defenses whilst massive walls of Spinethorn keep the seeking exterminators away from our hive, swallowing a dozen of them.

This broad-spanning operation is done at the behest of Zren, its mind guiding the entire operation across our borders, the dozen skirmish successes and minor fatalities on our side owed to his skill at war, the very purpose of the Zerg.

Many things are recovered, from laser rifles that, through weight of fire, slayed Crotalid's, to body armour that provided no protection from their chomping jaws and smashing tails. Hoverwings are ignored, whilst Drones are kept far away from the skirmishes. The most difficult to account for event is the runs by the rotor craft spilling munitions on Crotalids. Heavy calibre shells killing them easily enough despite Zren's best efforts to keep them safe.

Whilst this takes place, the equipment samples are stared at by confused Zerg, having no basis in the sciences required to understand them.
