I will ask, regarding the tactical plan:

What sort of "bait" could we give Konrad that he would actually fall for?

This is a tactic for dealing with forces like Horus, Angron or Robot Girlyman that like bringing their forces together to smash the enemy to bits. Konrad is more likely to just hit and fade, or scatter his legion the moment he realizes what's happening.
Build our own knock off flaypits. The man is hard wired for THE LAW and will not be able to resist coming down on intellectual property infringement

baby shipment they'll smell it out and won't be able to resist

Would you please approval vote the options that don't involve Malcador? I am generally happy to vote for several approaches, but I would not like to offend Horus or give the old monster more knowledge that he can use against us.

Unfortunately, I dont agree with other plans. They fuss too much and play it too safely. Angron's been reasonable enough, I want to see him wing it.

- [X] Suggest tactics and allies (Vulkan) Your brother has always been the most humane, that much is obvious to anyone whose met him, given the loyalty between us and no love lost over the Eighths tactics it would be an easy thing to convince the Dragon to face the Night haunter. Upon gathering the three legions suggest a form of bait to bring the most of the Nightlords to bear in one system, then use the combined might of your legions and brothers to bring down Konrads bastard sons and haul their father before the gates of terra for judgement.

I am in support of this, maybe we can find some planets that were brought into compliance as evidence against Konrad in any future trials.

Small problem with this vote, Cruze wants Konrad dead. So bringing Konrad to Terra to face justice isn't in the cards.

Corax care most I think about bringing Konrad to heel. He would weep no tears if we did not take him alive but he would also see the benefits of actually bringing Konrad to task for going to far officially because he as I said before actually has training in political theory and wants legitimate government. Corax believes in rules, that's why he has been asking for permission to deal with Konrad and considering the Crusade is winding down in some ways this is a good time to make it official.

Vulkan would also see the benefits of putting some who acts like a human Dark Eldar on Trial so it clear being in a position of power does not let get away with things like skinning pits for humans.

I would also make sure to mention this to Horus (not only is he the Warmaster but he just rammed his authority into Malcador and what good is a Warmaster who can't control his own troops/deal with those that get out of line).

Might also be able to get Russ on your side. Not only is his specialty (or so it seems) Primarch killing but Curze's actions (killing your own homeworld and butchering a solid portion of ones own troops) are pretty clearly treason and so selling it to him shouldn't be too difficult and even if the Emperor hasn't acted, I doubt he would order Russ not to act.

Should we ask Russ for help on this one. I mean he doesn't like us but he is the executioner for a reason
If we ask Russ for help, he's going to either,
a) Go straight to Big E for approval, blowing the whole 'secrecy' thing out of the water,
b) Try to turn up to the battle late enough that we've already killed Kurze, and he can execute us for having gone rogue and attacking 'friendlies'
c) Both.

Russ hates us. That's not a problem to be worked around or solved - he is our enemy, and is going to try to shank us just because he can.

My thude, stop kidding yourself. Corax didn't approach us asking to bring Konrad to heel, or to 'deal with him' however we could. He approached us specifically to kill Konrad. The dude is a revolutionary out to kill monsters, and Konrad is a monster - that's the start and end of it.

The only issue with this plan is that we'd ideally like for Conrad to bite the dust sometime this century. And if his collab work with Guilliman is anything to go by, Alpharius will insist on taking his sweet time to set it all up if brought onboard.
Giving Alpharius an excuse to butcher a Legion is effectively a century's worth of Christmas presents come early. Other than a minor case of serious war crimes and a major case of untrustworthiness, the Alpha Legion...kinda is known for competence.

Mass flaying. We're not talking about artisanal flaying, this is for when you need to skin an entire rebellious planet ASAP. Otherwise those bastards in Second Company would win the contest, and we can't have that!

But Brother, is artisanal flaying not more effective in spreading the Imperial Truth? Recreating scenes from the Imperium's history using the skinless bodies of rebels and xenos is far more glorious that brutish mass flaying.

… actually, question for @Maugan Ra:
"I've got a headache," you grunt as you take a seat by the shining glass table Corvus has shown you to, picking up the glass set there for you, "So let's not chase our tails. What's this favour you want of me?"
you grumble, shaking your head and tapping out a brief rhythm on the table.
What's this headache rate in Angron's experience? 'Long day' headache? 'Psykers nearby' headache? Or 'the person in front of me is a powerful Psyker' headache?

They're also gonna have their hands full with keeping up the crusade while also setting up a (or, more realistically, making room in their existing) big covert network to shelter Magnus' sorcerous scholars.

Fuck yes I love alternate civil war prompts. Let's do it. And honestly, which of these guys would say no to killing Curze?

In seriousness, the cooperation of the tactical minds of Malcador and Guilliman, the force of Angron, the quickness of the Khan and the *problem solving* of Corax should be enough to make any assault on the Night Lords quick, efficient, and with no room for retreat.

In theory.

Malcador is in a precarious position right now and we can exploit that to our benefit. He has resources beyond strictly military that can help us keep this from getting out of hand politically, and he's pragmatic enough to not hold a grudge even if he dislikes Angron because he can almost certainly see the value in needing to take care of an insane superpowered serial killer in charge of an army.

As well, this is a good opportunity to bring up something important for Angron's overall goals. They aren't in line with the Crusade. In fact, most everything Angron is about is opposed to the tyranny and oppression inherent to everything involved with the Crusade. Angron is, ultimately, going to butt heads with the Emperor in such a way that one of them is going to die.

But to get to that point he's going to have to play the game, and he's committed himself to doing so. Right now he can probably get Malcador involved in making sure this operation succeeds, and as a consequence Angron grows closer to Corax. He's who I'm really aiming for in the long-term here, because when Angron and the Emperor eventually come to blows it will be nice to have allies. So I say Angron gets the Sigillite involved and potentially off his back for a bit while solidifying Corax as an ally who might come when all the chips are down.
