... how about Masters of War?

There's no way the Warmaster Horus doesn't feature as a central figure, we've got a lot of master-slave theming going, the Chaos Gods and Big E are competing to be master (as in ruler) of the galaxy, and the Primarchs (master as in skill) will ultimately decide this war.

The -er isn't quite right (it's not a verb) but it's close and if it's the final part of the story it sounds appropriate.

I think that when the heresy starts we can get the Raven Guard and Salamanders on side without too much difficulty. Hopefully, we can save Magnus and the Thousand Sons from Tzeentch's trickery and Russ' dickery and maybe (this is a big maybe) get Sanguinius to join based on his fear of his legion getting purged. We don't discriminate against mutants at all so that should help on appealing to the Blood Angels.

I think Vulcan and the Salamanders (two separate entities, remember) will be much harder to convince than you think.
You know, I completely forgot about the whole two separate entities thing, my bad. I think we could convince Vulkan, he has a lot of empathy and he has the rare superpower of self reflection and critical thinking among the primarchs. We could convince him, but the Legion would be trickier. It would be made easier getting Vulkan on board first perhaps.

I honestly couldn't interpret these last three chapters as anything but this...

Horus: How could you Angron?! Our bromance is officially over!

Lorgar: So, I hear you're single now :ogles:

User's Choice and Mortarion Quest
So! First of all, hot damn I won Best Completed Quest. Hell yeah. Real boost to the old ego, that one, and a sincere thank you to everyone who nominated and then voted for Breaker of Chains. Seriously, I appreciate it.

Secondly, with the victory serving to inspire my muse and old ideas bubbling around my head, I've sat down and started work on a... not sequel, that's the intended Slayer of Kings, but rather an alternative quest starting from the same basic premise. Specifically, this one is "What if Mortarion got the benefit of the changed timeline this time around?".

If that sounds at all interesting to you, or you enjoyed this quest and want to see me take a similar concept for a spin, then please - check it out.

Son of Death (30k Mortarion Quest)

On Barbarus, Mortarion the Pale King completes his war of liberation, slaying the last of the Overlords and bringing freedom to his world. When the Emperor comes, he will find a Primarch quite different to the bitter monster he could have become, and the galaxy will feel the echoes of that change.

Part Three - Slayer of Kings
Well then. Ladies, Gentlemen and others, after a year and change of waiting, and to ring in the new year...

Slayer of Kings.
