How is most electrical power generated? Renewables? Hydro? Fission/Fusion? Also, what is the status of recycling materials or mining landfills for minerals?
Fission and hydro, primarily. Some companies are probably doing it, but it's not a major effort. How is most electrical power generated? Renewables? Hydro? Fission/Fusion? Also, what is the status of recycling materials or mining landfills for minerals?
So what's happening in Oceania? Or is that incorporated into Asia?
Hydroelectric dams over major rivers.@Dapperlad1 what do you mean by Hydro?
- Hydrogen Fuel Cells?
- Hydroelectric Dams?
- ...Something else?
Do Hydrogen Fuel Cells exist at all?
Someone probably has them, but they are a very specialty thing that isn't used in any widespread sense.
If we can get profitable self-supporting orbital colonies and industry running,
The second research is actually methods of efficiently and effectively dealing with massive air pollution. Because that's the big concern which is going to cripple the two Megacorp regions of Asia and North America soon. Because it'll start killing off our consumers and workers. It can also be very profitable because we're unlikely to go for the true long term fixes as a corporation, compared to the ones that fix the problem now but need constant (profitable) replacement or use to keep the air clean.
Point. We can lax space laws through normal means, build up massive profit there, then use that to take over. Maybe we don't need earth if we got those space colonies.
@Traveller76 May I suggest using 'Air Pollution Management Technologies' instead? Because that way it opens up the possibilities to allow all sorts of technologies that mean the people survive fine... But need to constantly buy new filters or other replaceable or consumable parts to stay fine because the pollution is still there. In simpler terms, peak Megacorp. Air Pollution Control and Cleanup Technologies suggests it's aiming for the ability to prevent the air pollution occurring and removing what already exists. Which means you can only charge once, even if it's a lot.
Profit factor, as you all don't really directly develop anything per say, its all corporate negotiations and subsidiaries paid to do research. and the like.Yeah, just feel that putting something out there will get people motivated. Since if they feel that they don't like the plan they have to put something out to compete with it or else it'll win by default basically. Also, one thing I wonder about, what happens when we take over? Like when we control the economy, we control the gov't, there is no competition (At least until we discover aliens), do we keep the Profit Factor system or do we switch to a Resource based system?
It's 5 years I think. This will be cover ground fairly quickly, turns take place over five-year increments to maintain the pace of progress, slowing down with specific instances that may come up.
Wasn't saying we needed to go for it immediately. And I think you'll find that as orbital development increases, control is harder. After all if we say there's one 'police' spaceship for every hundred civilian spaceships, that's not going to be anywhere near enough. Even if space stations are locked down and thus it's effective one police spaceship for every fifty spaceships because those are the only ones that travel far enough to leave the space station control zones that still will not be anywhere near enough the moment we expand beyond near-Earth orbit. And it'll be much worse by the time we start mining the actual asteroid belt.I think we need to hold off on the space stuff a bit, considering how controlled space was right??? Need to focus on getting more control on the ground in order to mess with space. I may be misremembering.
Mostly agree with that.
Yeah, that's what I meant by production facilities, all raw materials are primarily produced there. Africa is an untapped resource though.I'm not sure how focused Asia is on mining, as that wasn't mentioned anywhere?
Raw resources have to come from somewhere though, and Asia makes sense. 🤷♂️
