Bound to Earth: A CK2 Earthbound Quest in an 8-bit Dystopia

I was looking at the words for various space-terminology, and noticed the word 'Astral'. which relates both to Stars and Psychic Abilities.

To be quite frank, that is a perfect fit for us: Both Space And PSI related.

Anyone have any ideas for a organisation name using it? I'm thinking, perhaps, Astral Alert, but I'm pretty sure someone else can come up with better.

Hm...Children of Gaia? I like the idea of focusing on recruiting young people still, and the reference to Earth ties into the idea of opposing the City as it exists.

fine in concept but the cult vibes on this are extremely present here like wow, i'd expect for people to automatically assume we're a cult in-story
being eco-friendly/religious itself shouldn't be a problem, but maybe this could do with swapping "children" out for something else? that way the name can both be inclusive to people who don't feel such a strong connection to religion/being a kid, and also not understate/look down on our members' competence by infantilising them?
checked synonyms but can't find anything that both implies a relation without being overly pretentious or overly weird though, sorry.
This seems to be the most fitting name IMO
could do with some rephrasing IMO, earthbound/homebound is the name for an event, or a thing, but not the name for a group or an affiliation if that makes sense
might bit on the nose too, if our faction name's suspiciously similar to something else then we'd have to deal with that the whole time, like constantly being reminded of FF7

ooh, nice catch on a word that combines both space and psycic. first thought for the second word was "astral renegades" to counterbalance any negative cult vibes but it's a bit aggressive/not inconspicuous/might not shorten too well

astral alliance could work? it's got alliteration and the vibes aren't super creepy since both parts temper eachother (astral has vibes of cool exclusivity and secret knowledge, alliance has vibes of being cooperative (which we're probably willing to do) without being the super creepy "stepford smiler" sort of cult or calling attention
might not be perfect but it's grown on me, and both calling our group "the alliance"(polite company name, if a bit ambitious) and "the astrals"(gang name) depending on the situation works well
could possibly do with some more inconspicuousness but that problem could be solved by basic information security training and getting members to not let the police know they're a gang member.

the punk hazard flag is cool (and woo art) but really not keen on hands holding weapons/pointed aggressively, feels too similar to existing political movements IRL, (regardless of which ones they are.)
hmm, you know, the baseball bat and rings together reminds me of "off", which is a cool game/asthetic. the plot's a bit weighty, but it might be worth looking into for a vibe?

adding punk to the name is also cool @Ranger65 , but calling yourself punk might be trying too hard?

but calling yourself punk might be trying too hard?
if you mean fantasy explorers suggestion to name myself PunkRanger, I wasn't planning on changing my name to that, I much perfer my current one.
if you mean inuniverse it might come off to others that we'll trying to hard to sound cool that is a valid concern but it's still a nice name.

@Rise Shine Astralinquents is a hilarious portmanteau. somewhat lacking in seriousness (it's sort of mocking, like something our enemies would use as an insult?), but i still want to use it to some extent lol

oh lol not that DW, i was talking about how having punk in the faction name would be forcing things. like the fact it's specifying the group is punk gives off a "trying too hard" vibe like we're an old person trying to be cool but not really understanding things so it looses street cred?

could possible get around this via having one degree of seperation and making it something that is punk, like a descriptor for a type of motion or material that evokes that vibe.
Alpha, Omega, and Epsilon, with a hand holding a baseball in the middle sounds like a cool idea until you look at it from a different perspective and Judge it.
I'm sorry but I haven't actually played OFF, what's wrong with judge/that judge would find wrong about this?

If you'd like something like that, then how about one I came up with literally right now?
Astraline. I don't quite know where the 'ine' came from, it just popped into my head right now and it sounds neat to me.

Some off the top of my head names:

Anti-Astral Alliance (Combo based off some previous conversations of Astral and Allie/Alliance. Anti added in front to focus on fighting aliens.)

Shooting-Star Breakers. (Hoping to tie the star imagery with some of the more delinquent stuff, and keeping with that Idea I had of countering wishing for the world to change with actually doing something to change it)

Eagle-quarter Delinquent Front (The E.D.F. Deploys! EDF! EDF!)

-I like "Bounders" even if it's the default
-Anti-Astral Alliance is very fitting, and I think it's probably the name with the most legitimacy
-My only personal addition to the roster is "Star-Catchers" Because we're here to catch those dastardly spacefarers and prevent them from messing up our home. I like the idea of the flag being like, a baseball glove catching a star or something. Just an idea rolling around in my brain.

If we voted right now I'd probably go for Anti-Astral-Alliance to be honest. Just wanted to throw my idea out there while I had the chance.

Change the Eagle-quarter Delinquent Front to the Eagleland Delinquent Front (Looks better without that dash) and I would honestly be all for voting for that

EDF! EDF!

lot of good names are pretty spur of the moment so that part's chill. nonsense words have the advantage that you can construe it however you want, and this isn't even nescesarily that if it's like crystaline. if astraline's describing the traits we have, it would mean you could have something else before/after it as a more active word (which is a good opportunity

all of the ones corinthian says are pretty cool, they've got a range of various kinds of nice vibes
adding something like "anti" to astral aliance works in some ways, not in others. sort of says that aliens exist and we don't like them, which is fair enough, prevents issues of being interpreted as "in on it" or something wild like that but might cause problems later? like stirring resentment and leading to a negative stance on *all* offworlders (like buzz buzz or characters from other franchises)

Glad to see an update. Even though vote for it is already over and me already stating this in the past, I will once again say that I do endorse criminal type for our organization, as I simply cannot think of anything that would fit under Archaic umbrella and also fit C.D.'s character, and the less said about me disliking Corporate type, the better. I could fully endorse them if circumstances were different-- say, C.D. wasn't a delinquent with lot of stuff burdening her, but as it is, criminal fits better.

As for organization name and flag - I have no strong opinions here, and are fine with anything that isn't too outlandish. Though i will admit, default name and flag are good enough, in my opinion.

I have some ideas for flags kicking around in my head, and precisely zero artistic ability with which to draw them. Shame. I guess I'll just leave what I think is one of my less bad ones here:

(For Anti-Astral Alliance) A blue background, with a white planet somewhere on the flag, with a black space invader crossed out in white.

I don't feel like adding anything to implicate space in our names is a good idea, I'd prefer honestly anything else. Because even implying it could cause suspicion at worst, and just confusion at best. Because of course we hate aliens, everyone hates aliens. Why go out of your way to mention that you hate aliens? Or even imply that you're against current aliens when there shouldn't be any right now?

I really like The Eagle Commision, Buzz-Bats (Buzz-Batters?), the EDF and any backronyms thereof, and all the names that make us sound like a group of delinquents, perhaps with a baseball theme.

I like Buzz-Bats and I'm not adverse to HomeBound either (HomeBound Alliance?), although I also like the idea of Punk Alliance. We have time to brainstorm and discuss further.

Hm...Sports and space seem to be common themes...All-Stars? I think it's subtle enough to not draw attention, while still being an implict fuck-off to Giygas.
