Bleach: Derailed

[X] Accept Kukaku's offer of help.
-[X] Stay with her until it works.

I think Ichigo with his determination can handle it.

...and? If/when we get Shikari, missing two weeks of classes won't matter.
Getting a reputation as 'That guy who ran off for two weeks and then came back' isn't exactly going to make us a choice recruit, or improve our chances of getting assigned to the living world.

We're working as part of a system. You can't just run off and do your own thing and expect to have no consequences arise from that.

Is there any reason for wanting to get shikai at once? Will he graduate faster? I kinda want him to go through classes. Else we'd just see a recap of canon!Ichigo's skillset.

We have an open day, don't we?
And it's 'training once a week'.
Is it a multiple day thing?

Edited because the we may NEVER annoy the bee on a daily basis if we skip in the academy already.

I seriously don't get why people are voting for the stay until works thing.
We don't know how long it will take, people are just assuming it'll be two weeks instead of a month or worse. So you know assumptions make asses of us all.

But besides that.
Prodigy doesn't get you jack shit. Histuguya is a prodigy he gets jack shit from it and he's a Captain. Like, why are we assuming prodigy means that cancels out 'punk ass we can't trust with anything important.'

Like how does this play out when it comes to mission assignments?

"So Ichigo Kurosaki has put in for a mission to the human world"

"Yeah?"

"Yeah graduated in a year."

"Wait didn't he also disappear for like two weeks at the start to get Shikai?"

"Right"

"Fucker can't even be bothered to follow academy rules, are we sure that we can trust him to follow rules in the human world? He's pretty new from the file."

"But he came back with a Shikai"

"So, just means we send him to the outer districts, where you know him doing whatever the fuck he wants doesn't potentially make us do more paperwork."

"But he came back with shikai"

"I KNOW STEVE! WHY DOES THAT MATTER?"

"....He came back with Shikai"

"You know what, fuck him, and fuck you Steve, he's now on guard duty for the Fourth, are you happy?"

"You mean like in general? Because yeah"

I'm not saying that it would go down like this.
I am saying that if you want the rigid magic samurai bureaucrats to be nice to you, then you need to follow their rules. Like sure power is great, power isn't going to make them want us to give an assignment to the human world.

Barring the trope-upset that'd be the training being a flop somehow, why would it matter, even if this was some huge black stain on our record?

No really - consider what Ichigo's goal is, here; it's not about becoming a Shinigami or graduating early or any of that, those are just his current tools for achieving his goal.

His goal is to get back to the living world... and Kukaku, just now, demonstrated she can at the least get messages through, and is willing to offer that.

It seems quite reasonable, then, for Ichigo to consider her an alternative to the entire schooling/Shinigami thing, for achieving his goal - and potentially a far, far faster way of doing it. What with being messages NOW, as opposed to visits LATER. Further, it seems reasonable to assume that if one can get messages through, one could get people through, too - or so I reckon Ichigo'd reason. I won't go so far as to claim it'd be unilaterally against Ichigo's character to hedge his bets; slow down the message claiming (and through it sister reassuring) to have less risk to the extant system (Shinigamidom), but I can certainly see the argument. Conversely, I definitely see the argument for him laser-focusing on the fastest, quickest way of doing the thing he's made his serious priority. Canon was certainly replete with examples of him doing exactly that, and all.

I highly doubt that skipping a variable chunk of classes would be a huge black mark on our record, especially because of this bit from the second update.
From the look of the monitors hanging from the ceiling, displaying the broad-shouldered bald man talking about how no class takes place at the same time as any other, and only the exams matter?

You go over that again in your head to make sure you heard it right. Yeah. So you could theoretically skip all of the classes and just take the exams, if you were some kind of savant, or too stupid to breathe and walk at the same time.
We can study hard to make up for whatever we miss.

I don't think sending messages matters all that much. Yuzu and Karin have literally no way of knowing that Ichigo's messages aren't just someone messing with them after he died. Dude got into a lot of fights it's not impossible that someone with a need for revenge would stoop to that. Sure he can send messages to the contrary, but would they really be reassuring? I doubt it. Granted Ichigo could not think this through. He does that sometimes. But I'l grant this is debatable. I still think staying out here is stupid because of the Academy thing, and because if the Academy has any sort of curfew at all, eventually someone's going to come looking for Ichigo, and that could be highly bad.

Sure. Because that won't backfire at all.
"Okay so who wants the cocky asshole who never went to class, and just went to exams?"
"1,2,3 NOT IT!"

Even if we don't fail out of the academy, it's still going to be a mark. In particular I don't see why the 13th would offer us a position (which given their job of protecting Karakura is something we'd want)

Ichigo is a Shounen Manga Protagonist, stupid moves are right up his alley IC
I mean it's already established that Ichigo isn't stupid so much as bullheadedly determined. And wasn't half the point of this being 'what if Bleach was written by someone who could do more than two kinds of arcs'?

Shikai is great and all, but unless we're expecting real battles in the near future, I think we can take our time with it while we attend our classes. You know, because Ichigo still knows fuck-all about being a Shinigami (has he even been at the academy for a full week yet?). As it stands, Ichigo still needs to learn the basics. He doesn't desperately need the advanced stuff just yet.

Walk before you run. We don't need to sprint for the finish just yet. Ichigo managed to fight on par with a captain after a few months of experience. I'm pretty sure he could graduate the academy within the year even without doing MAXIMUM SHOUNEN TRAINING.

Easily solved by Ichigo including something in the message that only he would know.

Sure. Because that won't backfire at all.

You're deliberately misrepresenting what I'm saying here.

I'm not saying never go to class, I'm saying that we can skip some class without it terribly affecting our chances. Especially if it's to hit the first big milestone in a Shinigami's advancement with their Zanpakuto very early.
