Bleach: Derailed

What do people specifically mean by shonen logic? The random powerups that Ichigo got out of nowhere in the series? Or him growing stronger by simply fighting people?

Because Ichigo clearly got significantly better by just fighting Kukaku. There was no indication that she was giving lots of instruction, just holding back a lot and fighting Ichigo until he dropped.

Preeetty sure QM said that no, we are not running on Shonen logic.

It's almost like the QM told everyone that relying on Shonen powerups and canon knowledge of the aforementioned power ups was stupid as the quest doesn't run on shonen logic

You guys say that, but look at what's happened so far in this quest, we have already achieved shikai after an intense training session of a few weeks with our long lost cousin. That screams shonen to me personally.

Stupid stuff like getting stabbed in the chest by a sword makes you stronger and nearly dying makes you stronger.

Edit: Error, Zangetsu is a very simple Zankpatou. It's easy to get his Shikai. Just 'kill' him.

And we didn't really get stronger fighting Kukaku. At least, I saw no stat changes from it.

Please no. People may actually believe you.

Though her reaction would be priceless.

You're the only person that's brought up the 'stab self in chest' thing, which happened in a completely different quest.

And no one's mentioned thinking that we'll get stronger from nearly dying either, just that losing to Rukia would increase Ichigo's drive to get stronger.

He knows when you are sleeping.

He knows when you are training.

He knows if you are strong or not so be strong for goodness sake!

You better watch out.

You better be strong.

And I'll tell you why.

Because Aizen Clause is comming, to town!!!

...that just randomly popped up in my head. Sorry.

In point of fact, he did not. The relevant quote:
I don't enjoy doing this kind of thing, but assuming that you can just pick out situations that are similar to the original series on a surface level, and expecting to get the same results?

That's not going to end well. You are not in the same circumstances as Ichigo was when he invaded Soul Society.
He said we can't expect to just copy canon and breeze by. He did not say that "shounen logic" doesn't apply.

In fact, it quite apparently does still apply, because we're still operating on a patently absurd growth scale. More subdued than canon's "Yo Imma be Captain level in a week", but we're still taking the standard growth curve and breaking it over our knee.

...You know, I was expecting it to be Kenpachi. Nice twist ending.

To further elaborate my point: To me shounen logic entails going above and beyond what most people think is average. For instance, our entire goal of graduating within 1 year when the average student goes for 6. While we haven't succeeded yet we still have made tremendous strides towards this by achieving shikai within a few weeks of training. We also are a lost son of a disgraced clan who is clearly a prodigy in the making. This all sounds like a summary for a manga to me. The overpowered underdog is a rather large staple for many shounen's out there, hell that's the canon Ichigo.

Something just occurred to me.

If someone were to ever get in a fight with Rukia for a Seated Position, it may be the sole time Byakuya roots for that person to win.

I'm personally hoping things don't end up that... belligerent between Ichigo and Rukia. Non-interaction I'm fine with, but actual bad-tempered spitefulness like that? No.

It would, wouldn't it?
I wonder how it'd go...

"If you let her win I'll slice you to shreds with Senbonsakura!"

"Alright alright! Jeez no need to be so-"

"And if a single hair of her's is harmed I'll make sure there is nothing left of you with my Bankai!"

"What the hell dude!? Don't you want me to win!?"

Or something like that. What do you think?

I'm feeling very tired though, so there might not be an update tonight. My apologies.
