Am I the only one who's really happy that Taskmaster is finally in an MCU movie? He's been one of my favorite Marvel characters for a long time and I've always felt like he didn't get enough representation. Really looking forward to seeing him on the big screen.

Guess this explains how Nat would get back in the good graces of the US government after civil war. It was 5 year dangling plot hook

Was it? The first time we see her after Civil War she's still on Cap's outlaw Avengers team, with dyed hair that suggests she's been living incognito. I never assumed she did get back in with the good graces of the US government.

I mean, this movie is also setting up atleast one or two more Black Widow successors. Maybe more depending on what happens. Maybe they can get one that doesn't stan Woody Allen this time.

I'm also a big Taskmaster fan. Hence my disappointment at him being made to look like Lord Zedd, and going by the trailer just a flashy henchman for Red Guardian beat up to prove himself as not an over-the-hill fat loser before dying at the hands of what I bet is gonna be Rachel Weisz's character who reveals she tricked her 'family' in taking down the Red Room so she can take over.

Though I suppose the fact Taskmaster has no one listed in the role could be that someone pretty A-list is playing him and have him play a bigger role in future features like a Thunderbolts movie which would be cool.

I do like that Red Guardian's costume is very reminiscent of Cap's as if he was intentionally created as the Soviet equivalent of Captain America. Here's hoping he's also a completely unreconstructed Communist who keeps grumbling about how Boris Yeltsin ruined the country.

I mostly know Taskmaster from from his stint as a supporting character in Deadpool and Agent X and that miniseries he had with manga-style art that tied into those, so I was more expecting him to show up as an anti-hero type in one of the Deadpool movies.

Elizabeth Banks when Black Widow makes over a billion dollars: "it succeeded because it's in a male genre."

I wonder how many times people will accidentally write Black Window in this thread.
I'm glad I read this comment because it helped me noticed that I'd done that in a youtube comment in time to fix it before posting.
Black Widow should be recreated with the help of Spiderman's genes.

So the new Black Widow is her own mother and Spiderman's daughter.

No one's ever really gone.
Um. So just because she's named after a spider that doesn't mean... never mind. Comics!

Still Banks has a point, it feels like every attempt so far outside of Marvel so far has been failures and even Cap Marvel had a rocky period.

He stares dead into the camera and curses filthy capitalist corporate monopolies destroying the world... except the one that makes the cartoons of the cute little mouse they are okay.

I love Tasky. I hate this airsoft Tasky. There's a ton of good designs for him, some of which are even China friendly. This ain't one of them

You think that after a full decade of films and some of the highest grossing movies of all time under their belt Marvel could afford to start taking more risks in adapting some of the more comic booky characters and costumes. A big part of what Taskmaster Taskmaster is personality and his costume and I don't think the former has a good chance of making it in the movie either.

Alternate take: They're not putting a hooded villain with a skull mask in the film because they fear treading into Kojima's territory.

You have to look at the tone of the film though. I mean they clearly aren't totally afraid of risk given one of the biggest characters is a talking raccoon and his tree son. This however is clearly meant to be a mostly serious spy thriller. A guy running around dressed up like Taskmaster would look out of place.

As opposed to the witch lady in red, the man dressed as an American flag and a dude with wings on his arms in Winter Soldier? :V

THERE'S CAPTAIN RUSSIA RIGHT HERE.

Yes and all their costumes are far more grounded than the comics they are based on.

The last Marvel movie had the villain wearing a fishbowl for a helmet.

If Marvel doesn't give me full on skull faced Taskmaster then they're a bunch of fucking cowards. Why make comic book movies if you ain't gonna embrace the comic bookness?
