First three are our must-haves IMO, research is always good, and I like the terraforming wonder pick better.

From the top right to the bottom left: a connection on a thin strip of land between two oceans, a nice tropical island tourist destination, a mining spot on the mountains that's still next to the ocean for easy shipping, and a bigger island for farming.

I am highly tempted to pick that brainpower focus instead of server 01 and i almost commit but i feel we need to get our bang for our buck from that digital tech research sooner rather then later. The server 01 would also hopefully speed up our progress faster then the more general brainpower focus. Perhaps brainpower would be the smarter choice but the sunk cost fallacy demands further sacrifice. The promised new age tech has to have been worth the damage to automatization progress long term!

As an attempt to rationalize this course of action the resulting gaps in our future generations knowledge and thus rise of at least a minor degree of mysticism will add exotic flavor to our civilization. We won't be Tech Priest level mystics mind you (hopefully) but the cultural influence could be interesting. The best part is whatever belief forms will spread more quickly with the inevitable information system we build from that new age tech.

Macar Memorial Stadium Inaugurated

Multi-purpose facility named after Sports Legend
NAYA GHAR- Yesterday Minster of Sports Emilio Marciana opened the Macar Memorial Stadium (MMS/EMM) to a large crowd of athletes and sports enthusiasts. The facility, which has been under construction since 2305, will facilities for athletics, boxing, football, field hockey, tennis, table tennis, weight lifting and swimming. Other features of the stadium include an 4-lane synthetic athletics track and a sports medicine center. The Stadium has a capacity for 15,000 fans and has already been planned for a variety of sporting and cultural events. The Stadium is a culmination of a proposal submitted in 2295 by the family of the late Sports Pioneer Estela Macar (2218-2290) to the government when plans for the stadium were announced. Her daughter Emperatriz Hardeep Macar Vasquez attended the opening ceremony and accepted a plaque from the Minister. "My mother believed in the transformational nature of sports. How it can improve not only the physical body, but also the mental and spiritual health of the person and the community. I know that this facility will be used for the enjoyment of all and the nurturing of future talents."

The facility will be open to the public from 0500-2200 every day and will charge a small admission fee for maintenance. The fee will be waived for Active Athletes and during their training period along with members of Law Enforcement/Military. A portion of ticket sales from events will also be used to maintain the facility.

Doesn't that change the original plan? The original grizzly path plan has space exploration instead of server 01 and the alternate wonder project.

A Suitable Man Part 5
A Suitable Man Part 5

The wedding was a grand affair and hundreds of people were invited. Despite the Bride and Groom requesting a small ceremony once the wedding of Abdülhamit and Purnima Burakgazi's eldest daughter became news the entire community and family wanted to attend. Business partners of the Burakgazi's also wished to attend in order to gain some favor from the Bride's parents. The actual marriage ceremony was restricted to the immediate family of the bride and groom per tradition, it would be the reception that would be the grand event. The Scrumptious Kabab, along with several other restaurants, would provide catering for free as a gift to the couple and Prabhat had to be kept away from the kitchen. The amounts of gifts and money given to the couple would take several days to catelogue and thank you cards written and sent. Harinder and Olivia would gift a custom sari to Mumtaz while Abdul and Purnima would gift a set of cookware that belonged to Purnima's grandmother, who also was a chef in her time. Prabhat would present a wedding chain to Mumtaz that belonged to his mother. While pictures would show celebrating crowds and happy family members, there was little emotion on Mumtaz's face.

It would be later that night, after the reception and the couple travelling to a hotel on the outskirts of the city that Mumtaz would have time with her husband. "Look, I do not want to get your hopes up. I married you to make my parents happy. We can live together but I am not your wife. I do not want to shame them and make them look bad in the community. Do you understand that?" There was a moment of silence and Mumtaz would have to turn around to see if Prabhat was still there. "No I understand. Your parents are good people and I do not want to bring shame to my brother's family." "Do you want the wedding chain back, I know it means a lot to you." "No. Everyone has seen me place it on you. Maybe my mother's blessing will protect you like it protected her." "Are you angry? Upset? You can yell if you wish." "No, I was not raised that way. You can have the bed and I will sleep on the couch. You have my word I will not say anything to anyone. You may think I am just a cook but I keep my word."

Later that evening Mumtaz woke up in bed alone. She looked across and saw Prabhat sleeping under a blanket on the couch, softly snoring. She had kept her promises to her parents, her community, even herself. She should be happy. No more stares, no more whispers or underhanded comments. She should be happy.

Why wasn't she?

A Suitable Man Part 6
A Suitable Man Part 6
Six Months Later
Sub Inspector Bilge Maradona did not mind working at night. While other officers complained about missing out on family time or missed events he enjoyed some of the quiet moments. It helped him avoid some of the heat of summer and complete his never ending reports. However there were also the moments like now when the criminal elements came out. They usually avoided the crowds and police presence during the day and slept during the heat like Bilge. Others simply sat home and consumed homemade liquor or drugs, working up enough courage to go out. When they did there usually was a violent crime which he had to clean up. As the police vehicle pulled up to the dhaba he could already see a crowd gathered, mostly lorry drivers and staff from the look of them. The Constables had already set up a perimeter and where swatting away anyone trying to take a video or picture.

Bilge, Assistant Sub Inspector Navin Chaudhary and Head Constable Serdar Ibarra exited the vehicle and advanced toward the crowd. "Please move. Police. Let us through and do our work. Move!. Head Constable Ibarra started nudging people away with his baton making a path towards the perimeter. As they reached the Constables on guard saluted. "Ser!" "At ease, who is in charge here?" "That would be me, Naik (Corporal) Felicia Villaverde, Ser!" "Fine Naik Villaverde, I am SI Maradona, ASI Chaudary, and Head Constable Ibarra. Let us in and tell us what the situation is." As the two officers and enlisted walked into the dhaba they noticed that the place had been sealed and guards posted to deter any onlookers. Villaverde started talking, "Two hours ago we received a call from this dhaba that the owner had been shot during an attempted armed robbery. We arrived ten minutes later finding the owner and chief cook wounded in the shoulder. His wife and a lorry driver applied first aid, which you can see over there. The two robbers had attempted to rob the place at closing time when the owner would be counting up the day's receipts, they did not expect the wife to be here. The robbers had surprised them and had a pistol, the owner was going to surrender the money to them but they attempted to snatch the wedding chain of the wife. The owner reacted by attacking the pistol holder with a kitchen knife. The pistol went off and alerted several of the drivers that were sleeping. The owner stabbed one of the robbers in the lower abdomen and the other robber attempted to flee and was subdued. You can see the blood from the owner and robber over there.

As I said earlier when we arrived the crowd was starting to gather. I called for backup for crowd control and sealed the area. The owner was in a stable condition and we administered first aid to the robber. They were drunk and not on any drugs. We also seized the pistol. The ambulance arrived about five minutes after we showed up and took the owner and the wife to Araya Medical. The wounded robber was taken in a second ambulance under guard and the second robber is in our vehicle." "Nice work Villaverde. Now we need to wait for the Crime Scene people to document this all. Have you documented everything for us?" "Ser yes ser. I will send it to you now." "What is the name of this dhaba, seems familiar to me?" "The Scrumptious Kabab Ser."

A Man, A Mine, A Woman, A Crime

A Man With A Drink sat alone in a bar within Naya Ghar, carefully nursing his only drink for the day. Unwise words and unwiser actions had led him to "be let go" from his work as a construction worker with one of the major firms contracted to keep pace with the booming population and the creation of four new regional capitals. However, if someone could ask the Man With A Drink if he believed he had acted unwise, after buying him another two or three rounds, he would answer truthfully and full of invectives, fury, and poison lacing his words. He had grown up on the planet, unlike his parents, but he had heard their stories and seen the memories etched into paper, data chip, and canvas, and he knew this world to be far better than the place they had escaped from.

Alongside the practice, they hoped to leave behind, only to see not enough people share their desire for a freer society. There were still the rich, the poor, the man, the woman, and the government lording over the latter of the first pair and over both of the last one. There were many things he could fault them for. Still, the one that had started to boil his blood beyond restraint and reason was the news that a sizeable cache of rare earths had been found in a system bordering Ganeshaeshwaram called Descanso Del Ángel due to the two white dwarfs circling each other. A debate had started if a mining colony should be established. His blood had boiled not because they would do so to feed their industries and maintain their spaceships but because they all agreed that convict labor should be pushed onto the colony so that no "free and innocent life" would need to toil and bend their backs for their wealth. Some argued against this but only did so on the premise that the whole thing was too expensive.

The Man With A Drink took a sip and watched people argue over the use of prison labor to mine what they needed, his vision slowly beginning to swim with booze and rage, his fist closing and aching as he glared, thought, and realized. The Man With A Drink took one last sip before putting his bottle down once more, and A Man With A Mission left the bar before the vote was called, his mind awash with booze and righteous fury, one unsmothered by a morning with regrets and cognition.

What regret would be had in a fist raised against oppression and injustice? What shame was there to tend to the flame rather than worship ashes of times long past?

Could there even be regret and shame capable of chaining a Burning Hand reaching for Justice and Freedom for One and All, Unidvided, Unchained, and Unafraid?

[][Mining Colony] Convict Colony
(Praya requires these minerals to thrive and keep feeding its industries. It also requires them to maintain its aging JumpShip fleet, for maintenance is only increasing every year they are in use beyond a dock that can overhaul their entire structure. Yet, mining is hard work, and mining in the vacuum of space is even moreso. We shouldn't send our citizens to do so but convicted criminals to obtain these resources for us and pay back society while they spend their sentences behind bars and away from innocents.)

We shouldn't send our citizens to do so but convicted criminals that volunteer to obtain these resources for us and pay back society. In addition, they would reduce their sentence while doing so, so this will help them too!)
[][Mining Colony] Too Costly
(Quite frankly, we do not need these minerals; our home has more than enough untapped resources to feed us for centuries, even if we would need to stop exploring the stars. Also, sending convicts into space is dumb as hell; that is just asking for riots and revolts!)

There is a house on the coast of Naya Ghar. Within that house, there is a room. In that room, a woman sits behind a desk. The woman behind the desk towers over a map, lines drawn to three settlements sitting with the ocean of her home, dates and figures scribbled alongside the lines, and money in her mind as she adds another one before discarding it again.

The woman sighs and sinks into her chair again, wondering how the government had concluded that such a location would benefit the people or the world before she grins again. 'It may not,' she thinks, 'but it sure is for me and mine.'

And she is right, for as the location may be far away from anything that could be serviced by ship, it could be by land and air, and there was plenty of money to be made in fleecing the government and draining money from the desperate, the foolish, and the dreaming. Even if the methods employed may not be what those in charge desire or approve of, when had that ever stopped her ilk or her kind? When had the disapproval of the ruling class changed even a single mind of those eager to make it to the top of the pile, regardless of what it took to tear the ones at the top down?

It was a rat-eat-rat world after all, and the woman had her people to care for and her ambitions to feed, so what did she care if a Divisa went missing here and there, only to end up in her pocket? Nature abhors a vacuum, after all, and who was she to deny that most fundamental principle when demand for her services was there, but no supply could be found?

[][Criminal Syndicates] Class Divided

I think a colony is a bad idea just yet, tho I'd most definitely pick a space construction option next turn to hopefully look after our jumpships.
Class divide should be the easiest to solve imo, compared to the cockroach like nature of Families and Ethnic groups options.

a problem and it's solution in the same turn!

Yeah, I'm going with this two. Prisoners used for work is always a bad idea and leads to worse ideas. Hereditary family-based crime is bad, and ethnic group organized crime is just asking to raise tensions.
