Battle is my Forte (AU MMBN)

OK, I will give a pair of hours before closing the votes in case someone else wants to vote, otherwise I will have to use the dice to choose the winner.

Dice it is then.

The first will be for the program:
1.- [X] Dash: Size 4 – RAM 0.5 – This program allows the navi to have, for a second, 4 extra speed points, then the navi must wait 5 before they can use it again.
2.- [X] Lock-On: Size 5 – RAM 0.6 – When this program is active the navi is capable of locking his view at a specific target, making impossible to lose vision of them, no matter how fast they're or if the go behind walls, here are some programs that may be able to block this.

The second is the strategy:
1.- [X] Weaving Rain: Lock on to the target & open fire while constantly moving around the enemy. Save this strategy as "Weaving Rain"
2.- [X] "It's going to lob Bombs at you, which explode on contact and can cover a fairly large area. Other than that you should be able to be free to just shoot it."

Edit: And the winner is, Dash and avoid the bombs! Time to write.

While thinking of a strategy I remember one time that mom was complaining about an annoying virus in the square's matrix, the virus description was just like this one, and mom was complaining because of all collateral damaged that the virus caused with his… Bombs!

"Forte, activate the Dash program and prepare yourself! That virus is going to throw bombs at you." I quickly commanded.

"Understood." Was his only reply, before moving to the side with a dash to avoid one bomb, half a second later it explode with a loud bang.

…You know, we're very lucky that the school allows student to battle as long is in the public section of the matrix, otherwise we could be really at trouble because of that crater.

"Are you alright Forte?" I asked a little worried, sure he managed to move in time but that blast was quite strong.

"I'm unharmed, shooting now." He immediately summoned his weapons and began to shoot at the virus.

Unfortunately for us the cannon with treads dodge the barrage, moving quite fast, before shooting 3 more of his bombs.

Forte managed to dodge two of them, but the last one got too close to comfort.

"*Tsk* Stay still." Forte grunted with a frown on his face before shooting more, only to the virus to keep dodging.

…This isn't going anywhere, we need another plan.

"Forte stop," He does so with a look of frustration on his face, I think that's the first emotion that he has shown since I install him.

"Wait until I give you the signal then shoot everything you have, understood?"

He just nods.

I keep my gaze at the virus and waited until it began to shoot bombs again.

"Now shoot at the bombs!"

Forte wide his eyes understanding my plan and shot burst of energy right at the bombs that weren't very far from the virus yet.

The result was immediate, the bombs explode in a chain reaction and the blast of the explosion engulfed the virus… and blasted part of the roof, really glad we're allowed to battle.

"Did we win?" I ask with hope.

Forte just stares at the smoke for a few seconds before smiling in satisfaction.

"Yes."

AN 2: Now you may be wondering, wasn't this fight supposed to be difficult? Well, it was… until Hana give you the program, that's what I wanted to show you, that some battles can change drastically with the right program.

True, you could have aim at the first one but, the second, the third? Forte shoot a little above the cannon and managed to blow one, and that created the chain reaction.

Edit: And look at the database of the cannon, the bombs are fast enough to Forte have trouble dodging, but his twin cannons are as fast as the bombs.

"You're going to fight a military grade security program!" The teacher exclaimed with a big grin.

Everybody in the class blanched at her announcement.

"Hell yeah! Bring it on!"

Well, almost everybody, it seems like Hana found the idea exciting.

"Now, this program was a gift from an old friend of my, so I only have one, to be fair I will randomly chose one of you to fight it, in the end your note will be determinate by your time, and how much damaged your navi took."

With that information some of the students relaxed a little, after all if someone fight the program before them, they may be able to find some weakness in it.

"Now everybody connect to the private matrix of the classroom and let's begin!" The teacher clapped.

I took my handheld and bring out its build-in universal connector, connecting it to my desk, in the screen Forte appear in that looked like… A coliseum… Really? I Think that's a little over the top.

Little by little the other navis of the class began to appear too.

"Hey Forte! Ready to see at your awesome senpai fighting?" Yelled Neptune, while running to the side of Forte, Samus and Tomoe just behind her.

Forte just stare at her though.

"*Hmpf* Someday I will make you have a reaction, you will see." The purple navi pointed at him with her tongue out.

Before she could continue the teacher's navi interrupted.

"Ok class, I will now select the first subject!... I mean student!"

That was supposed to be a joke… Right?

To the side of Smiley a roulette with the names of the students in the class appeared.

"Now let's see!" He then pulled and began to spin the wheel.

After a few seconds it finally stopped, at Yosuke.

"Ah come on!"

"Here isn't running away from this partner! We must fight with all our strength!"

Answered who I think is the navi of Yosuke.

That I could only describe as a frog in superhero custom.

"That's the spirit young one!" Answered Smiley, "Now, let me show you your opponent!"

From behind of the smiling navi a program began to appear, and I only could describe it with one word.

Well, I hope that Yosuke manage to last long enough to find a weakness in the thing.

45 seconds… Honestly that was the best time of the class to the moment.

The program just keep going and going without stopping defeating navi after navi, and now the only ones that haven't fight against it are Hana, Connie, Chie and me.

Well at less I was able find some information about it.

It was incredible strong, his armor could take a lot of damage, it has thruster on its back that let him rush at navis with high speed, though it could change direction while doing so, and the only weak points that it seems to have was his head and a hatch that opened from time to time to shoot a laser beam… Yeah that thing its incredible lethal.

"And onether quick defeat! That too bad, oh well, you will learn, the next one is… Gig Bacchetta!"

*Gulp*

"Ok, ok, we can do this… right?" I asked more to me than to Forte, but he answered all the same.

"It doesn't matter how difficult the challenge, I will win." My navi said without hesitation.

I think his confidence was contagious because I was feeling a little more relaxed now.

"Ok, prepare yourself Mister Bacchetta, the battle begins… Now!"

Hmm. Do Navis actually see via their eyes?

If so, Forte could try rapid fire at the head and keeping the military bot effectively blinded. This is especially effective because of exploding rounds. Its respond will probably be to charge through and close to melee, at which point we need to somehow take advantage of this.

If we have any battlechips, I'd say that would be the time to underhand a bomb right into its face or its emerging lasers, when it least expects, then Dash away and try and repeat the process or implement new tactics.

[X] Blast it with intent to blind, switching over to targeting the hatch whenever it opens. If it rushes in to close, use Dash to meet it's rush unexpectedly swiftly and assault the eyes with momentum, before using remaining speed to break out of melee and switch back to rapid fire.

The few that try to climb it had two problems, doing it from behind made it activate its thruster and burn them, and doing it from the the front well... giant hands.

He would shoot at you with his laser or block the shoots with his hands, its a very tough program afterall, that doesn't mean that it wouldn't hurt it though, it totally would, but it is a military program, it was design to take some damage.

Chips don't exist in this universe, I just tried to make this AU a little more modern and in this times basically all things relate to programs are digital, so I think that programs that mod the navis are more "realistic" (as realistic as a world with virtual intelligences fighting to the entertainment of children can be) that going around carrying a lot of chips.

Though if you have suggestion of how to better my system, I'm all ears.

Nop, but only because most of the ones that try to run right at it weren't fast enough and ended smashed, now, is Forte fast enough with the dash program to do it?... Who knows?

Hmm. Gonna take a while before I make an official vote, but this might be worth trying when we're out of better options. Especially if Forte can try shooting those thrusters on his way out, maybe cripple it a bit so that he can continue laying down hurt.

"Ok Forte let's give our best, began with shooting everything you have at his head!" I commanded.

"Firing!" And he did just that, his explosives shoots bombarding the head of the program and surrounding it at smoke.

Before I could give my next action the smoke was pierced by a bright green laser.

"Dodge!" I yelled as fast as I could.

"*Hmpf*" The reflex of Forte prove to be top notch as he managed to avoid the beam with a well timing dash.

Unfortunately for us the Golem didn't stop at that, immediately after it finish the attack it activated its thrusters and rush and Forte.

With the speed of the Golem and the dash program still recharging, here wasn't enough time to dodge to the side, what I could do!?

…Then I have an idea, a very crazy idea, but here wasn't time to hesitate.

"Forte…"

I needed to time this right, I have my eyes glue at the flashing icon indicating that the dash program was still charging, the golem was in front of Forte, the icon was still flashing, the golem was raising a fist still at full speed, the icon was still flashing, the fist was coming down, the icon stopped flashing.

"…slide under it!"

Without missing a beat he activate the dash and move under the giant program, barely dodging the fist that smashed against the ground.

"Shoot his back!"

While sliding, Forte aimed one of his buster cannons at the program's back and shot, the explosive rounds destroying its thrusters.

But before I could celebrate managing to damage it more than everybody else in the class, it throws its other hand right at Forte, caching him and trapping his hands.

"Forte!" I panicked.

The beast of a program was barely standing but even yet it had enough strength to begin to crush my navi with a hand.

"Agh!... You… thing you can… defeat me!" Forte yelled at defiance.

Suddenly here were some explosion from inside the military program, Forte was shooting his cannon while trapped.

"Forte stop, you're going to hurt yourself!" I yelled, thought I didn't know what to do, one way or another he may be finished.

My thought were interrupted by one explosion that was strong enough

To destroy one of the programs fingers, releasing one of Forte fingers.

With a lot of full determination on his face Forte aimed his free cannon at the giant face but it didn't shoot, the cannon began to glow a light green.

Then an alert appear in my screen.

Rapid Twin Buster Cannons: (D) Forte can summon two buster cannons on his arms that shoot burns of energy at high speed.

The buster cannons can be charge by 5 seconds to release a shoot with 3 more points of strength.

"I won't be defeated by the one of you." He said with a tone of finality.

The program answer was to open his hatch charging his laser, but before it could finish, Forte release a burst of energy from his glowing cannon, the explosion that come from that was bigger than anything that he had shot before, destroying the program head and its laser.

Then Forte falls to the grounds, and my excitement becomes worry.

"Forte? Are you alright?"

He doesn't answer… Them he began to get up.

"I'm fine." Is the only thing he says before transferring from the matrix of the classroom to my handheld.

Before I could say anything else, his face appeared in the screen with a proud smile, "I told you I will win."

"…Heh, so you did." I answered with my own smile.

Our little chat was interrupted though by the yell of someone.

"That was awesome!" Chie come closer to me and clapped at the back, "Good show." She finished with a smile and another clap.

…My pride as a man refuse to let my admit that they hurt, but just a little!

It seem like Chie congratulation spark for the whole class, soon almost everybody was congratulating me, here were some ones saying that it was only beginner's luck, but honesty? I was just glad to have defeated such strong program.

"Ok, everybody I know you're glad for the victory of your classmate, but we aren't over yet remember? Here are still 3 more fights." The teacher interrupted.

And soon all were in the seats once more.

"Great now the next fight is…"

The battles of Connie, Hana and Chie could only by describe with one word: "Curbstomp".

Samus ended the quickly by shooting her missiles and dodging becoming in a smalls ball.

Neptune, transformed in a more… developed woman, and began to slice like crazy at the Golem with her energy katana.

Tomoe at the other hand just… threw her double lance thing at the program and cut it at half…

Yeah these girls are way more stronger than me.

"Well, these were some interesting and completely ramdom fights don't you thing?" The teacher said with a little smile.

The class was just flabbergasted after Chie "fight".

"Now this may had been I test, but it always only to determinate you current skills, so you will not be grade by this."

Most of the class cheered at that.

"However, that doesn't mean that I can give a reward to the winners of test, right." Miss Strauss said with a smirk, then she presses the screen of her handheld and here was the sound of 4 messages being received by handheld.

"I have a 'friend' you could said, that owes me a favor and he is quite important in the V-Battles scene you see, so to make the story short, congratulation, you 4 are invite to the selection process of the next winter Grand Matrix World Tournament." She ended with a big grin.

I could only say a thing.

"What."

The Grand Matrix World Tournament, one of the more important even of the year, were Battlers of all the corners of the world reunite the first week of December to fight until the end, and we're invite, well, we're invite to the selection process, but even so!

The next months are going to be very interesting without doubt.

AN: And the first act is complete! *Applauses* Did you like it? This was my first time writing fight scenes, are they any good? Now you all have the chance to direct the story, some of these options are completely in the real world, and some in the matrix. Don't worry if you miss something you can do it next week unless they have a *limited* in that case they can only be choose that week.

I definitely liked it, I thought Forte was honestly done for when he got caught in the hand. But he shounen power upped his way out of it. I like.

Some pretty sweet power-ups out of it too.

So, it looks like we can bring Melee Attack close to leveling to E. Which is good, because Forte's melee skills is deplorable right now and he'll need it eventually to Earth Breaker a bitch (love that attack, kid me thought it was a weak sounding elemental attack, adult me goes 'oh shit').

Speed can be boosted to a clean E, also nice. And dodging will never stop being useful, and in the games proper is the best defense.

Forte's Defense is comparatively good to everything else he has, but is still important...probably. My least pick for now I think.
