What more he will get... Well... Just wait and see.
Well, Cadmus has plenty of "exotic" biological materials that he could snack on : G-Gnomes, kryptonian experiments, superserums like Blockbuster. And there's probably many more things in storage, it's a big facility after all...

It's just infortunate that the magic-using biomancer was incinerated, he would have been a great adition.

Part 5

TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

They ran as fast as their legs could carry them, trying to outpace the legions of monsters that were close on their tail.

The League would eat them for all of this later, but at least they discovered something that otherwise would have remained unseen up until it was way too late to do anything against it.

Robin looked at the clone of Superman in second place of speed. The kid was about maybe thirteen or fourteen years, if he had been a normal person. He was force grown in five weeks which was a horrifying prospect. But what data he managed to pull before Superboy was woken up showed that the superman clone was anything but perfect.

In fact, he was but a prototype. Proof of that was his very designation, with it being Kr-0, and hair and skin, which was not evenly pigmented as Superman's, or an average person.

Part of the clone's right side of his hair was white and a little bit of the back as well. And his face had parts that were lighter and others that were darker, with his right hand having some darker spots. Also his right eye was almost icy white. So in a way he suffered from both hyper and hypopigmentation.

Robin did not like how Cadmus had basically created a person, a young teen just like him, just so that they could use him a test subject. It boiled his blood a damn lot just to think of it. And he knew that Bruce would also be furious.

But that would be later.

"Take the left!" Superboy called out and the group reacted, turning to the left passage ahead of them.

"Right." He called out once more and the group turned to the right.

Only to come to a stop at a dead end.

Angry, Kid Flash snapped at the smaller clone youth. "Great direction Supey! Are you trying to get us re-podded?" Which caused the boy to look at the speed based young hero with a confused and distressed look.

He honestly did not know what to say. He only listened to the voice… oh… "I…" he began. But was quickly cut off by Robin's cheerful triumphant voice.

"Don't apologise! This is perfect!"

By the time a squad of G-Elfs got to that dead end they were, the sidekicks were gone and an entry to the air ducts open.

Deep inside the duct passages, they made their way as quickly as they possibly could. Kid Flash mumbled something complaining about the speed they were going, but superboy hushed him to be silent, and then turning back, he spoke softly. "Listen."

The other three did and they could hear the distant sounds scraping of metal. A sound of the elf genomorphs running after them.

So they quickly made haste and got out of the air ducts and readied for a fight. But when nothing happened. It was when Robin grinned a winning smile and spun to his friends, revealing his involvement in the inconsistency. "I hacked the motion sensors."

Kid Flash grinned. "Sweet!"

But Robin reminded: "Still plenty of them between us and out."

However, that did not deter the young speedster. "But now I got room to move." And immediately he snapped a door open and run up several flights of stairs in scant seconds.

The group followed behind quickly.

"More behind us!" Robin informed and Superboy stopped his run to face the coming creatures. With a kick to the stairway he completely severed the creature's pathway to them, causing them to tumble down the falling flight of stairs.

Kid Flash's rapid sprint got him to the Sub-Level one. So close to the exit that he could basically taste their freedom.

Except now that the large armoured doors began to close in before him. Seeing this he tried to pick up pace, but they closed in on him not too far before he could reach them.

He tried to slow down his run, but knew that at his speed, he was in for a painful crash. "Crap." And then he did, practically bouncing off the metal panels of the doors.

"They cut off our retreat." Aqualad said as he caught up to the red and yellow hero.

"Thanks, my head hadn't noticed." Quipped the speedster on the ground.

"Can't hack fast enough." Robin cursed, then stopped when he saw the coming wave of gene crafted monsters. A quick and decisive thought later and he kicked a door open to make a new way out. "This way!" He called out to the other three and they made their way after.

Their escape was short lived however, for they soon were faced with a large gathering of genomorphs of all size and shapes led by Guardian and its shoulder G-Gnome.

The sidekicks turned back to try and make their way back but their return exit was blocked by another large group of genomorphs.

Seeing no other option, they prepared for a final stand.

But it was not to be, for one by one, the horns on the telepathic creatures lit up like a countdown to their demise. And then they all slumped down to the ground, with Superboy falling to his knees.

However he was spared the complete subjugation when a voice cut through the telepathic network like a shining beacon of light. A mind beyond the small streams of emotion and the telepathic webs that the rest of the genomorph hive were bound by.

Walking forwards, horns lit ablaze with blood red light, Dubillex spoke into the mind of the Kryptonian hybrid and all the genomorphs. -Perhaps for the sake of all of our brothers, Superboy should make up his mind.-

Superboy's eyes snapped wide immediately and turned to the approaching genomorph. -It was you…- He said, realizing the identity of the voice that had guided him earlier.

The creature sent its nod through the link between minds. -Yes brother. I set the fire and warned your new friends down into Cadmus. Woke them when they were in danger…-

-And guided me.-
Finished the Superman clone. -Why?-

-Because you are our hope.-
Revealed the genomorph. -The genomorph hero. You will blaze a trail for all our brothes, showing a way to our freedom.- Slowly the heroes behind the Kryptonian began to rise and awaken from their enforced stupor.

"What is going on?" The voice of Guardian was heard and Superboy turned to him, the G-Gnome on his shoulder no longer influencing his every decision. The clone looked back at Dubbilex, expectant.

-What is your choice brother?- Asked the G-Goblin finally.

Superboy's answer was slow, but firm. "I… chose freedom"

And as if a spell is broken, the decision was made and all would be alright. "Feels like fog… lifting." Guardian said, head clearing as the small artificially created organism jumped off his shoulder.

"Guardian?" Aqualad asked the golden helmeted custodian and the man looked at the Atlantian youth with a resolute expression.

"Go. I will deal with Desmond." Said the helmeted hero.

"I think not." They all turned to the origin of the voice and there he was. Dr Desmond in the flesh standing with a suitcase in hand and psi-block band over his head. His expression one glaring venomous daggers at all other souls present, but most of all, at the G-Goblin that apparently had lead this revolt. "I should have known of your betrayal. But I guess that doesn't matter now, does it?"

Kid Flash turned to the man. "Give it up! You are outnumbered, out classed and there is nothing you can do but come with us quietly." Then he smiled. "But if you want to test your luck…"

Dr Desmond stoic expression changed into a grin of his own. It was not a good smile in the slightest. "Test my luck, eh?" He asked, sounding entirely confident. "Well, let me see if this is a good test of it? Blood Sun."

Kid Flash's brow quirked up, "Wha-" Then his words were interrupted by a loud roar from behind him. A scream of anger and hatred, raw and undiluted.

Of fury unchained.

Of Superboy.

It was when he turned around to see the berserk gaze of the Kryptonian clone that they knew they were doomed. "Oh fuck…"

And then Superboy leapt for the kill.

AN: At long last canon diverges from the official story well enough that I won't have to keep watching the Series to continue it! YAY!!!

Next part will be a long one, I promise.

Canon Divergences: Superboy, Cadmus and Desmond. Part 1
Alright, most of you must have noticed by now that Superboy is not the one in Young Justice series. And you are right. This is my own take on the conclusion of all the research and lessons that Cadmus has learned up until that point. I know that some of you may not like this, but personally, it fits with the portfolio of a somewhat smarter group of Cadmus scientists.

First off, let us start with his designation. Kr-0. The 0 designation just spells it right there what superboy is. The prototype. The proof of concept, the incomplete and that is fine like that. He was not meant to be the final design. Far from it.

So, they did not care much about the minor aesthetical alterations. All they cared about was to create a fully functional clone that did not look like a mutant from Warhammer 40k. As a consequence, he has anomalous pigmentation (hyper and hypopigmentation). But that is not the extent that the changes will be in this fic.

They learned from Match that developing a clone to such a near mature stage is not necessarily a good idea. It's far harder to restrain a 16 year old with superstrength (not to mention the other abilities) than restraining a 14 year old with superstrength. So they left him out at that age just in case. He was going to age up anyways, so there was no hurry in making him an adult or older teen, and Lex Luthor had plans for him.

Second, it makes no sense that they do not try to instil certain personality traits into their superpowered clone that they would find valuable.

Canon Superboy's personality was basically a guarantee of rebellion, with him being hot blooded and a bit edgy. Would be more logical that they instil a more submissive or obedient personality. I mean, they damn near created a perfect copy of Roy's mind and personality (with a few selected key differences) would it be so hard to make a meek, quiet and obedient superman clone? I think not.

So fic superboy is quite different personality wise. Quiet, more reserved, and obedient. Though he still has the anger spark that canon had. Furthermore he is more awkward around people, more insular.

I want to explore the mental issues that lie with cloning someone and them not possessing the myriad experiences that shape us as people. I don't think that any DC comics have explored it well enough. No, this is not an angst story for anyone that may think I may delve there. But it's obvious that Superboy should have more issues than merely a temper.

Superboy was not completed in his mental programing, and this one was not either, so there is quite a bit to work through. Time to hit reddit and start reading my psychology books. This is a going to be a doosey.

At the least he has an eldritch uncle running around.

Also, I hope you liked what I did with Desmond. I agree with the prior argument that the Light and the myriad bad guys in the Canon Young Justice timeline were idiots of the highest order. If Desmond was portrayed as smart as he should have been, then he would have said Red Sun (He obviously was aware of the mental commands! He was responsible for installing them into the clone for Pete's sake!) before taking the blockbuster formula and then fighting the superheroes would have been a walk in the park now that their muscle was out of the count.

Of course I cannot quite think what he was going to do after. He did not show any signs of his previous intelligence, or if it did, then no one explored it more. But anyways… here our evil scientist/alchemist is definitely more dangerous and much more intelligent. What better way to cause a distraction, than to turn the opponent's strongest ally into an omnicidal maniac for a few minutes?

It's nice to see a change in competence, I have actually never questioned how that encounter happened in canon, I haven't watched and thought about that scene for well over five years, but now that I am reading your idea, I can't help but agree that they were truly incompetent villains... >.<

The Team is going to dark places in the future if the Light is more competent. Maybe the Eldritch uncle will save them or act as a distraction, fighting the Light in the opposite direction so as to waste and split up resources.

Depends on your definition of 'more competent.' Honestly, their goal is relatively laudable: they want to further humanity's development and evolution. That's it. Not global domination or anything like that. The problem is that they are running up against the Justice League because A: the Justice League is a safety net that Vandal Savage believes prevents natural selection and B: the Light's plans are square peg in round hole levels of stupid.

I could come up with a better plan than these doofuses.

Vandal Savage nor Lex are the idiots portrayed in canon. Here the Light has a reasonable and consice goal that would have otherwise been achieved... Had the sentient Star Spawn now existed in the first place.

And when we meet Savage, we will all understand what it is.

Alright im interested and watched, only read the first chapter but i like it so far. I will say when i first saw the word teratoma i immediately thought it was gonna be Bloodborne, which if its what i think it is kind fits still lol. Now to read more!

yes i do indeed like it, i need moar!

Even outside of Cadmus there are a lot of supervillains and weird biological beings and things out there in DC comics that would not be immediately missed that would make the world an all-you-can eat buffet of abilities for Gamma to assimilate. Some things to consider is to what extent he can eat things that are only borderline biological or not sufficient "natural", like demons, living clay, etc. Maybe even beings like Parasite, Doomsday, Chemo, White Martians, etc. What happens if he drinks a Lazarus Pit or eats a Gingo fruit (used to make Gingold for Elongated Mans powers) and so forth?

Mythopoeia and Astral Evolution
Starts almost like Assimilation. Watched!

I'm excited of the possibilities!
And i am hoping i don't disappoint.

Alright then, since everyone keeps getting curious, and me being a lazy prick haven't made the Green Lantern and JL conference about Astral Flesh. I still have to, so that you understand more of the creature's behaviours, but i guess the powers need to be explained more directly as even the Lanterns do not fully understand it, nor can they make sense of the principal mechanism at work inside astral biology.

First off, Astral biology is not even biology. Its called Flesh because at a glance, it looks like flesh more than anything. But in truth it is not. It borders the line between machine and cell in such a way that it becomes neither.

That is why purposefully weakening the cells with Blank and then binding them to the Red made them useful as biological manipulation tools. That binding effectively turns Astral Cells into... metamutant super cells that are receptive to the animal kingdom. If you try that with the Green or the Grey, then yeah, it would happen the same manner but receptive to each of its own elemental force. But because these things are not actually biology in the slightest, you could actually bind them to ANY of the elemental forces. An exiting, yet horrifying example would be if you bind it to the Fire Realms then the tamed astral cells would become a self contained blob of quasi-degenerate ionized plasma... that somehow is actually alive!

Like i said, Astral Flesh does not give a fuck about the laws of physics at all.

But everyone wonders still how does it adapt, so let me explain it in detail.

The DC universe is impossible. Like... literally it is. Superman should not fly, magic should not be real, the emotive force is not meant to exist at all, Fate is not real, death should be oblivion, there is no heaven or earth! All of it derives from a semi-sentient, multiversal, programable form of 'energy' that was inserted into the moment of creation thus becoming the various forces and impossible things that happen across the insane multiverse that is the DC universes. This energy, at its purest is called Mythopoeia. And that is the key stone of the Astral Cell's Engine and how they evolve.

They do not replicate a biological process, no. They analyze, assimilate and replicate a target's Mythopoeic signature, and then make the nessesary physical adjustments to use it.

Mythopoeia is akin to the 'Pure energy' of this energy, and it divides itself into the following two main Archetypes, which they themselves divided into two Forms.

Keter Forces.

Potential: The processes that Superman and various other superheroes use. Certain substances, genes or mechanical processes generate a Mythopoeic signature, and thus the Potentia format follows soon after and grants them certain powers depending on the signature. Potentia is very similar to Forces (speed force) and thus can easily overlap, but on a fundamental level, they are different because Potential does not have a specific universal field or realm that derives its energy from, as all Potential forms draw energy from a singular source, an as of yet unidentified zone in reality or creation.

Forces: They function similarly to Potential, except that each power has its own realm that draws energy from, and these powers are syninomous to the forces at play. They can also be entities and non-physical phenomena taken to a form of life of its own. It is one of the more complex ones in terms of how it functions and how its connected to the other forms of Mythopoeic fields, as it touches Ideas and Emotions deeply as well. Elementals are magical beings, but are also tied to the Force as it makes them nexus for universal forces and concepts. If this was not the case, then the Parliament of Limbs of the Red could only affect earth life, and each planet would have its own version of the Red. Happens similarly to lords of Chaos and Order. This however, does not touch much upon gods from Myths, as each only touches regions which birth their own faith.

Apollyonic Patterns.

Ideas: Magic in simple words. At its most fundamental, magic is the stuff of ideas and power that derives from such. I cannot quite explain much without reciting what everyone already knows. So there you go.

Emotion: In the most simplest of ways, it is the Emotive force. Coincidentally enough the Emotive force is both extremely tied to Ideas and Forces, and could be mistaken as either, if it did not possess certain traits and characteristics that made it stand out.

Now.. as for your other questions...

With the knowledge above explained, I'll give you an answer that may just answer all of the above. If it has a Mythopoeic signature, Gamma can and WILL replicate it. That includes the Lazarus Pit's resurrection trick. Everything that has Mythopoeia is subject to a Star God's diet and eventual replication.

Hm... By your definitions, the victim need not be living or conscious. My interpretations lead me to believe that MC can copy the properties of anything, may that thing be mineral, chemical, biological, or mechanical, as long as it has mythopoeic properties.

Are the natural forces just as mythopoeic as the supernatural ones?

Its easier to do so on the living due to many of those Mythopoeic forces vanishing after death.

Also natural processes can practically be done on the fly, given Astral God flesh doesn't follow any law of biology... pr physics for that matter. But adding mythopoeic forces just makes it all the easier.

What I want to know is - is your SI a run of the mill from-modern-Earth-SI chucked in the DC universe by some ROB or is he actually native that somehow got tangled with the Star Spawn?

He said "I am in the DC universe?" in part 4. Practically screams the former. Though he is not so much as ROBbed as "(un)Lucky SOB that died and got his consiousness remote swallowed by a piece of a Dead God in another dimension and got to be the 1 in a 10^100000000000000 whose consiousness was not completely obliterated and was somewhat compatible with god flesh." kind of SI.

Are you implying this is a common occurrence? Like the phenomenon of whisking somebody from another dimension may not be unheard of.

It happens all the time, just that no one noticies it.

Most Astrals are... amoeba... then Somewhat smarter astral samples are what happens when its the minds of animals, though not with sapient entities. Animal minds devolve quicker after death and they do not get to enjoy the privileges of Astral Flesh to its fullest extent... Only sapient entities could use Astral Flesh to its fullest potential...

So the SI is the near non existent event when a sapient mind gets dimensionally assimilated into the flesh of a dead god.

Yoy...

There are going to be a lot of recurring trope gags here. Let's see...

  • Clothing Damage. All the time.
  • Wardrove Malfunction? Yes.
  • A form you are confortable with? Guys, you got no idea.
  • Eldritch Abomination? Plenty.
  • Things man are not meant to know? Yes, yes, so much yes.
  • Did we just have tea with Cthlhu??!! And Alliance with an Abomination? Oh, yes. Youre definitelly going to need it.
  • Oh and Combat Tentacles. Can't forget those.
