ANN: Why i hate superpower formulas.
Author's Notes: Something that always irked me in comic books is that random guy drinks some secret special formula and all of the sudden he goes from a hundred something pound dude to a three hundred something pound mega muscled thing in the span of seconds. Literally generating and gaining weight from nowhere.

Yeah...

So i decided to tie it to the reality twisting properties of Alchemy, Magic, and with the Astral Flesh's paranatural aspects to explain and expand on this parts. While the Tamed Star Flesh is similar, and highly alchemically charged, it cannot completely defy physics like the original thing.

I hope you enjoy and find the changes i did interesting.

Oh, I didn't realize that the insertion had already occurred, so you wake up in a sci fi cage as a mutating, desiccated, eldritch rat, that has got to be a head trip, has he realized he's in DC yet?
Not yet. But when he does... Oh, he already had his brain snap in two when he woke up. When he knows he is in DC he is just going to flip.

I imagine it would change the calculus some, there are any number of settings where something like he is now could be born/made/WHY?!, and while DC is at the higher end of that power scale, it's in more of a middle ground as far as grim derpness goes, so at least there's that.

I would actually find it somewhat comforting in fact, as it could have been so much worse.

I suppose it depends on how broken his mind is, on the one hand the setting's not full eldritch horror everything is already @#$%)( all hope is lost, on the other side of that equation though is that going full eldritch to get out, grow, survive is likely to have vastly more consequences, if it succeeds at all.

This should be put as an informational. I definitely found it informative enough.

At the least it is not 40k. Yeah.

But DC still has Darkseid (confirmed in young justice), Nekron (that bony git) and perhaps the antimonitor. So he still has to deal with cosmic level crisis.

Plus now he also has to maybe deal with groups that know and actively hunt down star god tissue. And to be fair, considering how much mess have the star gods caused, you can imagine that the list is not small.

And then there are the rogue star gods running around undetected.

So while this DC is not a full on eldritch horror setting, it is far heavier than in others.

At least he himself is a potential eldritch horror, so there is that.

Though he needs to get from dissecated bird headed necrotic rat thing to unfathomable twinsting horror from beyond the ken of mortal minds to be relatively safe... Relative being the key word.

Also, i am making a drawing of his current form. Does anyone know a webpage that i can post drawings that isnt art station, newgrounds or deviantart?

How bad is this story going to be about that? I like eldritch horror, and a little bit of grimdark is necessary, but I'd like a warning if this is going to be excessive about either.

I love the creepy-cool bits of eldritch horror. Stuff like chanting unearthly languages from multiple mouths, a creature being able to 'teleport' because it exists in more than the three normal dimensions, having flesh made of immaterial substances like darkness or corporeal fear, and other crazy concepts is awesome. That said, I've never like the way a lot of authors feel the need to deliberately go out of their way to be depressing or unpleasant. Wildbow's fetish for making characters suffer comes to mind.

There's a difference between the unlikeable campers dying graphically to Jason and having that one character we like being forced to suffer excessively just so the writer/director/whatever can make a point. Some people feel the need to rub our faces in it, and I'm not a fan.

If you are planning on that sort of thing, I'd rather know ahead of time so I can wish you luck and read something else.

Imgur maybe? Not sure.

Nah, there isnt unnessesary suffering and death... Beyond the SI's fuck ups at trying to keep his powers in control.

The Eldritch is mostly lore and the SI using his powers in ways people get creeped out, or when incidents happen and the flesh starts thinking for itself and then he has to deal with the consequences.

In simple words, i am not going to kill likeable characters. But there will be death, considering that we are dealing with an eldritch horror here.

Awesome! I kind of expected that much. I'll be looking forward to more then. I've really enjoyed what you've written so far.

Star Gods so are we dealing with just Terraria abominations coming over to take a peek or will other DC eldritch brain horrors going to pop up? Cause I'm thinking the Ultraviolet Corps and Umbrax might spice thing up in YJ.

Mostly the Terraria inspired monsters. Don't know enough about those guys to make something with it.

Umbrax is a living Star ( Star Gods get it?... sorry) and is both the head of as well as only member of the ultraviolet lantern corps. They live in another dimension and when they find a system filled with malicious thoughts and people, engulf the plantes and drag them back to add to it's own. Then it takes over all sapient beings and uses them as extentions to it's corp kind if like extra rings it can send out and puppet.

I'm not to familiar with either DC or terraria, but I have a slight interest in biological monstrosities, so you have my attention.

At first I thought we were dealing with the dead flesh of the Chaos Gods. They are frequently called Tumors as well.
Alpha was obviously inspired by Khorne. Beta reminded me of Tzeentch and Gama is necrotic like Nurgle.
I think that this has more in common with Warhammer than Terraria.

Chaos Spawn

"Tamed" star cells are like brown dwarfs:

Bastard, illegitimate, sub-par. Only deserving of the title "star" due to technicalities that they're barely able to manage.

Ideas of what Gamma could do to screw with the scientists there abound. For example, weeping as the flesh sloughs off their face whilst calling the lead scientist in charge of them "Mother/Father". Now is that fucked up or what?

Morph into a fetus, and taunt them for creating and destroying life wantonly.
"You give birth and then molest those that you give birth to. It's only a matter of time before your empire of dead children and agony collapses in on itself."

Dude ... You are my guy! You just gave me an awesome idea!

Damn it! I would have loved to do that now that you bring it up!

Actually... I just may... But it would be an entirely different victim. 😈

I expanded the last part a bit. I was writing part 4 and noticed that adding the First Person POV from the SI's side of things would not fit in too well. So i updated Part 3 to include it.

-Dabs in triumph-
You could always tap out messages in Morse code
Too tame. Perhaps invent a suitably eldritch language, and pretend like he's having a conversation with "someone". Feed their paranoia, let their unease shake their Id.
