Club Manager / Student Counselor: Free Action
(Choose 1)
[x] You really don't have the time unfortunately
Reward: You don't have time for this!
-
Well as far as clubs go there's still some time left before they solidify so it isn't so much of a problem to hold off on that decision. On the other hand given there is an
immediate need for student counselors the new class, you'll have to forgo the option in the future.
Thankfully it seems Jeanne and Luscinia have decided to step up in your place. It seems that currently between the five of you, only you and Lujing are the ones to have held off on a mentorship position. Ember seems to have taken a place as a Club Manager already with the (???). Honestly this doesn't speak well for the men. You'll have to do better in the future for the sake of your students.
At least Weiss seems pleased in the assumption that you're simply waiting until team RWBY has picked a Club to join to see if they required a Manager.
Notes:
Club Manager Positions Still Open!
Student Counselor Positions Closed!

Self Improvement:
Forge Something!: At your current forging skills you can forge something better if you have the cash to pay for it. Your current Horrible Skill in regards to anything monetary means that you can only forge one piece of equipment every six months.
- Better Sword. Upgrades Average Sword to Good Sword
-
You've actually wanted to upgrade your gear for a while. While your current set of weapons and armor have lasted you for a good two years after you stopped growing, they've seen enough action that you will seriously have to look into getting an overhaul done within the next year or two. Still, this is a good opportunity for you to craft something new rather than reforging your equipment starting with your sword.
It takes a better part of a week's worth of evenings but given you've already narrowed down what you want in a weapon years ago, it's the forging process that takes the most time. While you aren't the most skilled of smiths, your years of forced frugality has made it so you are very familiar with what you can and can't do when it comes to metalwork. Skill wise you haven't really improved all that much, but the arms and armor you use
now isn't even the best you could've made when you first forged them.
Back then you were forced to create something useable, but decidedly
average due to your circumstances. Now though, not only do you have a secure paycheck to obtain the resources you require, you also have the foundries of Beacon at your beck and call. Thus you begin to hammer away.
You do away completely with the standard greatsword design of a long and flexible blade, instead creating something wider and much
thicker.
Grunwald while efficient at fighting off lesser grimm and unpowered chaff isn't quite as effective when fighting the tougher varieties of grimm and veteran aura users. It's simply easier to bludgeon armored monsters to death with a heavier weapon and the added protection of a wider blade that is just as maneuverable as your old one will stop many finesse fighters from being able to slide past your guard.
That is not all though. With this much surface area to work with you'll be able to surround an extremely large core of dust conductive ore with a veritable shield of toughened metal. Where before you would have to carefully apply powdered dust along the blade of your sword, there now rests a single chamber located on the guard that allows you to slot a single meticulously carved dust crystal to power your spells. With this you'll be able to properly cast dust arts without having the account for power loss.
You may not have any fancy glyphs to 'cheat' elegant weapon designs, you don't have to anymore. Not that your weapons were ever anything but
brutish. It was always your
style of combat that was the graceful part of you. Against people anyway. For most grimm the tried and true method of a charging shield bash followed by a good braining or decapitation strike usually gets the job done. You'll have to see if you can do that against Goliaths now-
Hmm?
"Hello? Yes? A Goliath hunt? Of course. I'll see you at the landing pads then. Yes, goodbye." You tilt your head and place your scroll back into your pocket.
Huh. That was fortuitous. Luscinia has exceptional timing.
Grunwald Upgraded to Einhander

[x] Luscinia is taking advantage of Peter's absence and wants to show the Anti-Grimm Combat class what
real Elites can do via scroll video to a combat airdrop with you two against a small herd of Goliaths.

Class: Anti-Grimm Combat 1
POV: Ruby Rose
Your name is Ruby Rose and you are many things. Among those what your close friends (You
totally have those!) and your loving but annoying relatives would call 'adorably confused'.
The thought would usually be enough to make you puff your cheeks up in consternation, but at the moment you weren't the only one looking lost.
Your super popular older sister for example. "So, did anyone get a class canceled memo or anything? I know someone said that the Professor that's supposed to be running this course is in the hospital for 'work related injuries', but Lucy should be here right?"
"Err, I don't think so? She said something about having a
special lesson in store and those are usually awesome!" You clarify and nibble at the neck of your cloak a bit before glancing at a fuming Weiss and unperturbed Blake.
How could you do this to me Lucy!? I already went and blabbed to Blake and Weiss about how great and cool you are! How am I supposed to prove that you are maybe just a tiny bit more awesome than Weiss' brother!? I have pride riding on this! I've never even heard about Professor Schnee and you're already losing!
"Well, at least if this is how our classes at Beacon are going to go graduating should be easy." Your black haired team mate shrugs and pulls out a book without much care.
Nooooo….
"Hmph. If I knew this was what I had to look forward to I would've applied to Shade academy instead! At least there I
know the professors there take their educational duties seriously!" Your perpetually irate partner scoffs and crosses her arms with a frown.
Lies! Lies and slander! Everyone in your family graduated from Beacon and they're totally reliable people! Like Uncle Qrow! He's always drunk!
… bad example.
Like your Dad! He's the punniest person you kno-
…...
Like Lucy? She bailed out Yang from the police station! Yeah! You even overheard her grumpily complaining about how much money it cost her to pay off the officer on duty to your Dad before you saw him suspiciously handing over a large stack of lien when you went downstairs for a glass of milk-
Oh god your cousin was a criminal. How did you never know!?
"Look on the bright side guys!" Your bestest sister ever leans forward on the desk with an easy grin.
Yang! I knew I could count on you!
"We get an entire class period to make
Bran new friends
Wen we could be studying!" She says purposefully enunciating her words in time with dancing eyebrows.
You slam your head against the desk as Weiss
glares at Yang and Blake rolls her eyes and flips a page.
Doomed. I'm doomed! Mutiny in the ranks not even a day after I get made team leader? How am I ever going to explain to anyone ever that my team fell to pieces in a single morning!
You and several other students jump in surprise when the large screen in the middle of the room turns on in a rush of static. "Hey kids! This thing working, Schnee?" To your surprise you see a single bright red eye looking directly at the camera before it retreats enough that your cousin comes into view.
"I believe so? We appear to be transmitting, but the signals bouncing back to the drone from Beacon are a little weak." Another voice responds from behind the camera.
Deep and
very male, the owner of the rumbling bass moves around to walk into view with the clanking of heavily armored footsteps.
In the silence of the perturbed class of students you swear you can hear a single
squee emitting from someone suspiciously close to you.
The plated
titan effortlessly stomps his way to stand next to her. You can hear the confused whispers that begin to fill the hall when the mystery figure is only three quarters revealed. Your raven haired cousin barely comes up to his mid chest and she's a little taller than Yang. Lucy who is by no means
small almost looks
frail in comparison to the colossus crouched uncomfortably in the what you assume to be one of Beacon's Bullheads next to her.
Like geez, what kind of milk has
he been drinking?
"That's fine. Just means we won't have to listen to background commentary. Ah hold on, you're not in the shot big guy, let me fix that." Lucy shrugs and presses a single button that slowly causes the camera to rise.
For a single second your eyes widen in impossible recognition from the momentary
glimpse of a darkened snowflake painted on the enormous tower shield held in a single arm. The elation falls away however when the camera drone finishes elevating and shows a familiar tanned face topped by a shock of
white hair.
Boo Lucy. That's just some
impersonator! Don't tell me you plan on tricking the class into thinking you know a
world famous huntsman!
Undeterred by your mental accusations, your increasingly disappointing teacher grins and points a single gloved thumb at herself. "I'm Luscinia Branwen your teacher! This big lug here is-"
The other occupant of the bullhead interrupts your cousin much to her annoyance. "And I'm Arwyn Schnee. You all probably know me better by another name-" This time it is he who is interrupted by your cousin as she moves in front of him and leans forward with a forced grin!
Yeah! You show him Lucy! You don't let no man interrupt you!
"Alright kids, watch close and take notes! Class is now in session! Below us is a small herd of
Goliaths that've been getting a little to close to the city for our liking. So,
I'm going to show you how its- hey!" Lucy's eyes widen as the knight behind her throws a jaunty wave and
falls out of the bullhead!
The drone follows behind your missing professor as she jumps out of the dust plane with a
snarl of irritation. "Oh no you don't! The first kill is mine!"
The class watches with bated breath as your cousin breaks the cloud cover and the camera zooms in on the figure dropping to the earth in the distance. Much to your growing surprise and slowly budding
excitement, the knight
bursts into a corona of aura fueled energy as he bellows in an unending spine tingling shout of
Determination!
The grimm below him only has the shortest of moments to look up before the
impact. The following shockwave visibly blows away a large amount of debris as the camera noticeably shudders from the turbulence caused by what is more comparable to an explosive detonation rather than a
landing strategy.
You could say that you were paying attention to how Lucy lands shortly after a gravity assisted beheading of another goliath with a single stroke of her cherry red sword, but you were mostly trying to stop yourself from vibrating through your seat!
The camera flies closer to the kneeling knight whose armor is still
smoking from his landing.
"As I was saying earlier, my moniker is
The Black Ice and I go by the former name of
Nicholas Glatteis. Welcome to Anti-Grimm Combat 1!" The steel clad behemoth stands up from the cratered corpse of the
crushed goliath and immediately counter charges another of the herd who has weathered the shockwave.
Glowing a silvery blue once more,
Professor Schnee slams shield first into the lowered head of the elder grimm,
stopping the monstrosity in its tracks in a titanic clash of strength and stabs the roaring creature guard deep in it's unarmored neck. In a gruesome display of dust usage, the crystal embedded into the guard of the sword flashes brightly as a colony of razor sharp ice explodes outward from within the grimm, snuffing out the life in its eyes instantly.
The formerly eight strong herd of elder grimm is quickly culled in minutes filled with the spontaneous commentary of two hunters keeping
score. Five to three in favor of Professor Schnee.
"Now hold on! You cheated you damned
muscle! Don't think this is over-" The video and audio feed cuts as the two enter back into the bullhead and the lunch bell rings.
Ohmygosh. Oh. My. GOSH!
"Hah! I
told you all that my brother was amazing! Why his usage of ice dust to destroy that goliath from the inside was positively genius-" Your slim teammate
smugs.
Though you don't really hear her at the moment.
The elation that was so nearly drowned before the video started comes
gushing out of the open gates of your dropped jaw-
"You didn't tell me your brother was
Nicholas Glatteis!"
Blake yells at a surprised Weiss who is clutched in the standing wide-eyed girl's steely grip.
"H-huh?"
"Holy
shit. Ruby, did you
see that!? They were like-
Weiss! Weiss,
bestest buddy of mine! You don't think you could, you know,
introduce your
very good friends to your brother? It's not like I'm planning on using you to get a ticket for a fight of my own or anything, haha!" Yang is quick to follow Blake's position next to her, grabbing onto Weiss' arm her normally lilac eyes glowing a
pulsing red.
"Uh, Yang? Could the two of you please let go? Ruby? Help?" She asks you nervously, attempting to back away, but having no ability to maneuver with her mobility cut off.
Good.
"Weiss."
"Ruby?"
"As your team leader I am asking, no,
ordering you to make a meeting happen. I
will get a chance to talk with your brother. I
will have him sign Crescent Rose. And I
will not be denied!" You commanded, standing tall on your chair to glare down at the bewildered girl to cow her into submission!
--
[x] Weiss introduces you to her Team! They're an…
interesting bunch. Miss Rose and Xiao Long seem especially eager to meet you as does Miss Belladonna who seemed quite shocked in class at your revealing of your true identity.
Feel free to loop this until the next music thing~
--
Location: Beacon Cafeteria, Dinner
POV: Yang Xiao Long
Or so your Ruby said.
Currently your dork of a baby sibling was huddled in her chair with her hood covering her features, idly poking at the plate of cafeteria made cookies with her
eyes.
It looks like she's deciding whether or not if it was proper manners to eat said morsels with her hands as usual or if people from upper society had a special
fork or something they were supposed to use for confectionary.
As for Miss Bookworm, she was doing anything but reading. Her book was on the table, sure, but she seemed completely torn between the safety of picking it up and shielding herself from the awkwardness and being
rude. Or, opening her mouth that looked to be absolutely brimming with questions. She doesn't even look like she's considered even eating the increasingly cold seared salmon filet as then she would have no
choice but to pick one of the other two options.
You weren't doing much better yourself if you were being honest. The social tension was thick enough you could slice it in half with a dull butter knife. While you weren't too worried about appearances as the others, you
did start a bit when you noticed that you had automatically picked up a plate of wings absolutely drenched in buffalo sauce.
Bah! You'd eat hot wings with your hands if you damned well pleased! With napkins. Lots of napkins. Like, five for each half a wing. And a cloth napkin tucked into your collar. Compromises are part of being an adult. Yes. You were supposed to tuck fancy napkins into your shirt right?
Weisscream's ladylike snort and upturned nose points to no. Or maybe you're actually doing it right? You don't know. She's been
kinda peeved at how the three of you were stealing personal time from her and her brother that she hasn't seen in her words 'quite some time'. Honestly all of you probably felt at least a
little bad about it when she mentioned that little tidbit. Her current method of ignoring all of you was probably deserved as she actually went so far as to invite you all for a team dinner with the professor an hour after her outburst. That's as close to an apology you'll get from her, at least for the moment.
"Do you find the food at Beacon to your liking, Wyn? It isn't quite up to Klein's standard, but… I have found a
liking for common fare." Weiss admits with a small smile.
Jeez, she's even
speaking all snooty so none of you can feel confident enough to jump in.
You sigh internally and look towards the only two people
speaking at the table.
The professor himself was easily making small talk with his own sister about this and that in regards to his dust usage earlier in the day though. Seemingly unaware of the miniature meltdowns the non Schnee's at the table were having.
A little odd you think, that she was purposefully avoiding the topic of his semblance, which you were
dying to figure out. So much like yours, but obviously
different.
The thought idles that maybe it was because you were in public and semblances were
personal things, but currently there was an empty ocean of space at your table while everyone else respectfully stayed away. You honestly get the sense that maybe it's both siblings who don't really wish to talk about the subject as they keep to more mundane topics. Professor Schnee doesn't seem like the type to be concerned with deception either, so why?
Well whatever, you can figure that out later. I mean holy crap, you were having
dinner with a world renowned huntsman! You had to break the ice for your team so you all could take advantage of the situation!
"Soooo, uh. Does anyone have any
Weissbreakers for conversation topics?" You throw the best could think of in fifteen minutes out there with a wide smile.
Ow. Maybe too wide.
The conversation between siblings grinds to a halt and Professor Schnee raises a single pale eyebrow that is quickly mirrored by Weiss' own.
That's good right?
"You know, Lucy, er, Professor Branwen is me and Ruby's older cousin? I don't think she's too happy about your
Wyn earlier, ha ha!" If the laugh is something you had to force out from the deepest, most hidden trench of your soul, you couldn't tell. Really.
Blake's hands that were inches slowly towards her book, immediately picks it up and buries her face into the pages with a forceful 'smack'. Ruby's two glistening moonlit eyes peek out from underneath her hood in palpable
humiliation, broken lips flapping soundlessly which is finally followed by a distressed whine.
Weiss pointedly looks at her brother with an unsaid statement and he replies with a slow sip of his drink.
"...Hah? Uh. I'll just keep quiet now." You blubber, the tips of years burning as Professor Schnee clears his throat awkwardly.
Smooth Yang. Super smooth.
"Oh no, it's fine. Most of you have been fairly silent for Xiao Long now." He offers politely and bites into his sandwich again.
Oh hey that was pretty good-
Bwuh?
"Dearest sister, I also have to mention that these
Rubyn Sandwiches are quite good. Although I do have a fondness for fried porta
Bellas on the side. Terrible shame that. They go quite well of mozzarella
Schneeze sticks. Tut. Tut." While his serious expression doesn't change, the light dancing behind his eyes tells you different.
Ice Queen pales and stares at her brother in open mouthed
horror.
You can't help but laugh followed by giggles from Ruby and a snort of appreciation from Blake.
From there conversation flows a bit easier. The three of you are still a
little nervous, but the professor is
good at making small talk with the common folk. He easily addresses Ruby's burning questions about his travels around the world while he and Blake discuss his well known pro bono work for predominantly Faunus frontier towns in Vacuo and once even in Menagerie.
"Well, they needed the help and they offered room and board. Didn't really see the point in asking for more, I'm sure feeding me was enough of an expense!" His laughter is loud and boisterous with a touch of humility that brings a strange smile to Weiss' lips and cements Ruby's hero worship. Silent and broody is a little more restrained in her reactions, but you find that she's become completely relaxed around the large man where earlier she was strung up higher than a cat hanging on a laundry line.
You don't think you'll ever see Weiss more scandalized than you've seen her when the Prof started to teach you a few
less than polite words and phrases in Dusta. Now
that is good!
What was he to you though?
Arwyn Schnee was just your average guy trying to do something good in a crappy world. The knowledge filled you with
Determination. You needed to do better too.

"-always been rather talented with dust. Isn't that right Kat?" You hear your sister trail off as you step inside the room and adjusts herself primly to give you her full attention.
It appears that she isn't the only one you've impressed with your showing earlier in the week going by the immediate squeal of a classroom full of students adjusting their chairs to better look in your direction.
Good, good!
"Alright class! Welcome to Dust Arts 1! We'll start off with something a little obscure, but trust me when I say that knowing how to weaponize food just may save your life!" You state with the utmost seriousness while holding up a round loaf of soup bread in one hand a boxful of dried pasta in the other.
Weiss blinks slowly several times before tilting her head.
"What?" The room echoes at once minus a few thoughtful hums.
"Exactly! Nobody ever expects a hotdog laced with burn dust!" With that you bring up a slide that shows the picture of a Beowulf being pegged in the mouth by a flaming hotdog. The side of the picture reveals an old teammate of yours with a panicked look on her face as her other hand desperately holds up a towel against her topless chest, rising up from her position on the sandy beach.
Katze lowers herself in her seat and pulls up her hood to cover herself, redfaced. You understood of course, certainly your teammate wasn't in the most
proper state of dress given all of you were on a mission at the shores of-
Wait.
Why is Katze here?
Why is Kat here!?!?!?

Freshmen:
Weiss Schnee: "What? I didn't get that at all! Why would I ever practice using a swordfish?"
Blake Belladonna: "Uhuh. Okay professor. I'll just… go borrow some sausage links from the cafeteria. Later."
Yang Xiao Long: "Yup. I
totally understood everything. So why am I supposed to use a roasted turkey over a chicken?"
Lie Ren: "I see. So there
are situations where using leeks as a weapon could be useful."
Sophomores:
Katze Sieben: "Err… could you repeat that last part? Starting from the beginning of class? Why breadsticks and condiment bottles?"
Velvet Scarlatina: "Ooooooh, I get it! I can use the tables themselves to act as projectile launchers!"

Learning about dust has always been fun for you, but it's a
dangerous subject. That's why for the first month you'll be sticking with the basics and ensuring that each and every one of your students will be ready for the hands on portion of the class.
You do this by grimly handing all of them a stack of neatly compartmentalized worksheets consisting of over four hundred pages as well as the two gigabytes worth of text data they will require for referencing. You took no joy at the multitude of dismayed faces and the heart wrenching expression on Ruby's face when you told them that this small packet was to be completed by the end of the month.
You draw strength from the way approval radiates from your sister as the class continues unabated. Many of your students have questions that you do your best to answer, but by the end of the period you see more than your fair share of glum faces dragging unwilling bodies to midnight breakfast.
It's like your students thought it was easy to create explosive material without killing yourself!

Freshmen:
Weiss Schnee: "Oh good. For a while I thought my dear brother was losing his mind. His knowledge on the subject is most impressive."
Ruby Rose: "Uuuuugh… Weiss! I thought your brother was supposed to be a
cool teacher! You guys all lied to me about his dust arts class didn't you!? What even
is this!? This isn't a
packet! It isn't even small at all! … is it?"
Nora Valkyrie: "Oh, oh! I know this one! Without a stable dust dissociation constant the resulting activation complex is what makes natural ice dust formations!
Sophomores:
Coco Adel: "Well we know the process of how ice dust is created, but how do you explain the increased potency and stability of naturally forming dust compared to what we can synthesize?"
Emerald Sustrai: "Uh right. The whatchama what now? Prof, I'm in the right class right? God damn it, I
knew I should've taken this class last year instead!

If your students are surprised to see you in full armor, then you don't see it. Rather they look more eager than anything. This was a pleasant surprise! Most people their age would be rather cowed by what was about to occur!
How courageous! You can feel your semblance thrum in response to their shared excitement!
"So, is anyone eager to see some action?" Immediately the entire class raises their hands, some even slamming fists and feet against the desks and floor in their willingness to fight!
"Good! Then there's no need to give any speeches!"
"Speeches?"
"What?"
"Isn't he going on another hunt?"
"So! Who wants to fight me first?" You belt out loudly with a confident grin!
Of the hands that were raised up you only see
three still remaining in the air. The others having
vanished into pockets, under desks, and in a few cases, being sat on.
Oh. Well then. You wouldn't want to ostracize those who bared the courage to challenge you in a duel so…
"Why don't we start alphabetically starting with last names? Mr. Arc? Would you step up to the front please?"
"...
gulp. S-sure thing professor! Just uh…
let me write my will first."
"? Mr. Arc, surely you've already written your will out? In fact, Beacon policy states that students must ensure that their wills are updated before arriving to each combat class. Come on now, I see that you use a sword and shield like I do! I'm sure you'll learn much from this bout! Don't worry, I'll be attacking just slow enough to work on your defensive speed!" You smile and beckon the boy forth.
If he's as good as Jeanne must have been at his age, you're ready to be impressed!
On nervous legs, undoubtedly due to being the first among peers to be called up on stage. You reassure him with another smile and lower your visor with a dull 'clank'. The room grows silent as you place your shield to your front and cover the exact position of your sword arm before frowning and making it your angles of attack a little more obvious.
You would have to be careful. You aren't used to holding back quite yet and it wouldn't do if you knocked out your opponent too quickly and they ended up learning nothing.
Seeing that your student has readied himself, you tell him that the fight is beginning before rushing forward with an easily telegraphed swing!
*Crash!*
Huh?
Wait, why did he block that!?
"Jaune!" Miss Nikos who had been wringing her hands in her seat rushes down even as you place your sword on the magnetic clamps on your back and walk towards the groaning boy. Taking your helmet off you scratch the side of your head with a single armored finger to look down at young man who seems mostly unharmed. His aura at least was ridiculously sturdy, having blocked your full blow and being sent crashing into the wall only lowered it by about fifteen percent where most people's aura's would've
snapped.
Mentally you take a few steps back even as Jaune quickly recovers and chuckles good naturedly for the fretting Pyrrha, hiding a small wince.
Jaune Arc
should've by all means seen that attack coming and moved to either dodge, deflect, or
parry. Instead he took what was an obviously powerful swing head on, one that he
knew he couldn't possibly hold back completely. It wasn't that his stance was shoddy, whoever taught him drilled at least
that into him, but rather it is his lack of combat instinct that worries you.
This required answers.
"A good attempt Mr. Arc! Though next time I would suggest you not take such a strike head on, but instead deflect it or dodge." You see him nod and address the other students once more. "Mr. Black? Please make your way down and ready yourself, I'll be with you in a moment.
You turn back to the blonde teenager who has by now stood up with his teammate's help.
"Jaune would you stop by my office later? I'd like to ask you a few things if you don't mind. You're not in trouble or anything, I just need to confirm a few things regarding your lack of combat experience." You explain to the suddenly nervous teen.
Your questions are answered quite succinctly after class.
The long version is that while he
has been trained, he lacks practical sparring and combat experience against auric opponents, grimm, and even normal people. His theoretical base is solid enough and it's likely he would be able to outlast a few students here and there even if skill wise he was near the lowest rung of his year.
The short version is that based on personal ability he shouldn't be in Beacon.
You were about to call Jeanne when she knocked on your office door shortly after Jaune left.

[x] Jeanne wants to quietly discuss something with you if you have some time. Her brother
has been having some issues…
Turn off music here :3. The silence sets up for later~
-
"So. What do you think?" Jeanne asks, sitting primly in the too big chair, sipping on a cup of coffee looking for all the world completely at peace.
This is a falsehood. The woman before you is cheerful or angry. She's only ever in between the two extremes when something is
wrong. Thus you endeavor to treat the question as seriously as she is internally.
"Jaune shouldn't be here. He isn't ready. He'd make a fine addition after a year, maybe two of seasoning as a Standard Huntsman, but as he is? No, I cannot condone his presence here."
She nods. "I agree."
"Then… why let him pass? You don't seem like the kind of person to allow family relations to cloud judgement." You question incredulously.
"That's because I
didn't pass him." She whispers with a hint of barely concealed bitterness spreading itself as a small scowl on her otherwise angelic countenance.
"Excuse me?" Come again?
She expands with a huff. "I'm just as surprised to see him here as you are, given he failed his test. I did what I could to work with him the month before school started, but it wasn't nearly enough."
"Then why?" You question once more, trying to get to the bottom of this mystery. What possible reason could there for
anyone to go over the authority of an examiner? Especially in a case where the student is obviously lacking?
"If you think you can drag an answer out of the headmaster, you're free to visit his office yourself. Maybe give you a better reason than he did me." She
spits, fury bubbling intensely underneath her small frame even as her eyes sharpen to an unnatural degree.
This is troubling. Why would Ozpin…?
No, that's not something you can figure out here and now.
So you address what you can.
"You have another reason for coming here."
"Am I that obvious?" The older woman shakes off the anger suffusing her being with a practiced ease and puts upon herself a neutral expression. "I need your help. With my schedule being so full I can only do so much and while I'm sure with the help of his team he'll
eventually become strong, it won't be fast enough. Not for me. Not for this life."
She leaves your office a few minutes later with a polite thank you.
This is a problem. One that you can help fix, but you'll have to spend dedicated time teaching Jaune how to fight.
With a sigh you make a notation to readdress the issue next month if you can make the time.

[ ] Katze Sieben… what is Klein's daughter doing in Beacon? As a Sophomore? You
know she wasn't in the student directory before.
DC: 50
Rolled: 72
Reward: Find out why Katze is at Beacon
Let's see if Konami can still get feelzy bits right :3
-
Location: Your office, dinner time
POV: Arwyn Schnee
You push open the door to your office with one hand, the other laden with take out trays from Beacon's cafeteria and gesture for the petite faunus girl to enter.
She does so silently, visibly wringing the sleeves of her hoodie. As usual Kat uses the hood to cover her ears, only taking it off once you shut the door.
Neither of you speak, both of you wondering what to say.
Katze isn't like Winter, your younger sister. She has her inner strength, but her outwardly she lacks Winter's powerful
grace.
Katze isn't like Weiss, your youngest sister. The inquisitive mind is there, but her fierce independence is buried underneath layers of
weight.
Katze has always been her own person. Similar in many ways to your family, but
different.
As the single faunus child born between the union of your mother and father, she had no choice
but to be.
The information might have been buried deeply enough that no one else outside of the immediate family and trusted friends new, but Nicholas Schnee's wife was a
Faunus. Grandmother died a scant few years after your mother was born. Frail of health she left the world before you ever got the chance to meet her.
You believe this was the reason Grandfather threw himself into his work.
He loved Katze very much and it was after her birth that he gave up work completely to give what was left of his life to care for the girl and spend the rest of his short days with his family. Those short years were the happiest of Kat's life.
When he died he entrusted in Klein to watch after her, likely knowing what was to come.
The morning after Grandfather died, your middle sister was sent away to live with ever faithful Klein. The only reason why she wasn't cast out along with her
name coincided with the only time you've ever seen mother
truly furious.
You didn't see father for
months, but return he did. And with his return was Kat once more allowed back into the family manor, but never again to be called
family.
Mother became pregnant with Weiss soon after followed by Whitley.
She gave Father spares for Katze's sake.
It took you a
long time to accept this. But things can be different here.
Will be different.
You just have to take the first step and walk forward as you always have.
"Hey Wendy. Give your big brother a hug!" You open your arms with a grin, paying no attention to the roiling turmoil in your gut.
The soft impact proves potent enough to calm the churning into a peaceful warmth.
"Hey big brother. I missed you." Wendy's muffled voice mewls against the fabric of your shirt.
The two of you stay like that for some time before separating. Fortunately for you your room is enclosed and the likelihood of it raining inside the building is very low.
The two of you spend the rest of the evening quietly in comfortable silence. You grading papers at your desk and her working on homework on your extra large couch. She'll speak up when she feels like it as she always has. It's almost time for midnight breakfast by the time she works up the courage to speak.
"Daddy pulled in a favor from headmaster Ironwood and had me sent here. Said being close to you was the safest place for me to be. I don't think Father will be very pleased when he finds out I was part of an 'exchange initiative'." She giggles halfheartedly, pulling her knees against her chest and wrapping her sleeved arms around them securely.
You let the tired girl sleep on your couch, pulling the your well used blanket on top of her. The smile that inches away up
your (yes you, the player) lips when she sighs deeply. Soundly.
You spend a few minutes watching her sleep when your scroll buzzes in your pocket.
You aren't surprised when you receive a message from Weiss asking to meet you as she has just finished her last night evening class. You are even less surprised when you find your youngest sister standing outside your door with enough food in her hands for
three people.
-
[ ] Weiss wishes to speak with you personally in a relaxed setting. She seems adamant in finding out everything she's missed in your life if only to learn from your own experiences. You can afford to indulge her with some of your time.
-
Location: Outside Arwyn's Office
POV Weiss Schnee
"How is she doing? We…
I, haven't been able to speak with her for very long. Even here." Weiss admits and mutters with a bitterness you're more used to seeing from the mirror.
It pains you how much you've missed during your time away. How it forced your two youngest sisters to grow without your aigis. You honestly don't even know how you're going to deal with the rest of the family you left behind.
"Wen- Kat's fine. She's probably still a little jet lagged." You pretend not to notice Weiss breathe deeply through her nose before sighing and slumping
"And you dear brother? Seeing her again must've been a shock, almost as much of one when
you surprised me out of the blue." The younger girl mutters and you awkwardly scratch the back of your head.
"I'm… actually better than I've been. I missed you too, you know?" You grin and lightly muss her hair causing her to tiredly glare at you before looking away with a 'hmph'.
"Hah. Sure." She grumps, but bumps your arm with her shoulder once as the two of you sit down in the hallway, leaning against the wall.
"Tell me about Vacuo." Little Weiss orders you like she used to, if a little less cutely. Except instead of a fairytale, she asks about
you.
You're more than willing to do so.
"Well imagine me back when I was short and skinny landing all alone in Vacuo. I got mugged twice on the way to Shade Academy actually-"
And so you tell Weiss of the days leading up to your actually entering Vacuo's Hunter Academy. Her expressions go from humored, to horrified, and back over and over as you describe how
different life in the desert was from what the two of you were used to. But you mostly speak about the people. Rough and ill mannered in their ways, but open minded and
charitable to those with the strength of will to
live as they do.
Human, Faunus. Man or Woman. Hunter or Civilian. It didn't matter there. Dusters could care less about who you were or where you were from. Only that you had the 'right stuff'. You tell Weiss about how such a culture opened a whole new world to your eyes. One that Grandfather helped to build in Atlas and the Schnee company when he was still alive and in charge.
When you tell her of your desire to
rebuild what has been broken, Weiss leans against you fully and continued to listen as you spoke until she let out a loud yawn she didn't even bother to hide.
Not around you.
She provides only a token resistance when you gently marshal her inside your office and lightly dust off your unused recliner. Of course she proceeds to ignore you and pull out several books from her bag mumbling something about having some homework to complete.
You roll your eyes and move back outside, the already dimmed lights in the room programmed to shut off completely in half an hour.
…
You sigh.
Leaning on the wall outside of your office you take a deep breath before dialing a number you've long ago memorized by heart, but haven't dialed in seven years.

Call Home: You should probably get in touch with at least
some of your family.
[ ] Call Mother
DC: 50
Rolled: 27
The first time you call Mother, she isn't in any state to receive your call from the way she answers her scroll. Unable to find anything to say you aren't surprised when she irately hangs up the phone.
The second time you do so only minutes later, she's in the same state, but this time you have the courage to speak only for her to hang up a minute after your soft greeting. She stays on long enough for you to hear a singular sob as the voice only call on the scroll cuts off.
Your stomach roils with shame while your heart sinks to join the storm in your guts.
Really, what did you expect? You should've made more of an effort…
somehow.
Walking back inside after an hour of
thinking, you notice that Weiss has fallen asleep at your desk, her own homework being used as an impromptu pillow. More silently than someone of your size is supposed to move, you manage the replace the books with a cushion and drape an old cloak of yours across Weiss' shoulders.
It's the weekend. You don't see any problems with allowing two of your most studious students to fall asleep in your office.
You allow yourself to stay awake until both of them wake up and have an early breakfast from the trays Weiss brought earlier. It's a quiet breakfast between family, silence only broken occasionally from an inside joke or three, but eventually it is time for Kat and Weiss to go.
Your smile refuses to abate for the rest of your long,
long day.
You hope that things can stay like this.
No.
You will make it so.
Arwyn Schnee's shield is not so easily moved.
Not when you have something so important to Protect.
