Well, given that it's underwear, he's, presumably, wearing something over that that's not armor. That said, something comfy and body-covering does sound good.

I'm guessing long johns (with a long-sleeved top)

If he's wearing plate, that means he's wearing all the stuff that goes below it, otherwise ouch.

I don't have any experience with heavy armor, but I got my hands on a proper chainmail way back, and wearing that on bare skin in a fight means lots of chainmail-shaped bruises.

Also, I suspect, a great deal less of body hair :V

a full suit plate mail usually goes normal clothes cotten padding, boiled leather, chainmail surcoat, then the actual plate mail armor, but that sif you were rich and could afford all the extra protraction most just got the cotton and the leather then the plates

If we make any more gods lets not make ones that fill in major positions like those that we were offered officially.

More ascendants will come and claim their domains and that means that eventually someone will come to claim Life which would lead to resentment. We already failed in that with our God of Life, lets not make other resentful gods.
... Wrong thread?

ah when you put it like that i guess i did double post. objection withdrawn
It's fine, we all had to learn... but when you want to reply to someone right away, and you're the most recent post, the best way to do that is to edit the quote and reply into your post.
make it malleable so we can change it at will and im game. one thing to be a god nother thing to be a constantly adapting god.
Well, we'd presumably embody ambition, power, and the endless pursuit of knowledge, so I wouldn't think that plateauing will be much of an issue.

There was another crit-fail in Vacuo.
You didn't roll it.
It also wasn't the Jade Serpent.
It wasn't for the Environmental Check.
Environmental Checks didn't stop being a thing just because you crit-failed one.
What was believed to have been a Tier 3 site has been found to be actually be an Tier 1 site with potentially invaluable information on Vacuo's distant past.
Cherise Cheshire was gutted making this discovery.
She is expected to make a full recovery, as her Aura reserves were full when her unconscious body was found by her guides.
Her Aura reserves were untouched because the attack somehow bypassed her Aura.
Have fun speculating until the update is finished.

That's nice, but we're still recovering from narrowly avoiding a deathspiral, it might be some time before we can investigate properly.

Shit. Arc is going to eat us alive.

Oh good, we won't have to deal with the diplomatic nightmare of her getting killed on a routine expedition.

Wait, if she was injured, shouldn't her Aura...
Mook_Squad said:

That... is not good. In fact, it's very, very bad. Do the Jade Fang have an agent with an Assassination Semblance or something? I can't see what else it would be.

Not as often or as memorably as @Cryocreator.

But alright, what's your theory for this?

It was a critfail, maybe she missed a trap?

But... What kind of a trap would bypass aura?

Some sort of trap is a possibility, but it doesn't explain the Aura issue.

Unless it was a really exotic trap, which might be why she missed it.

A decent attempt, but not as entertaining as @Cryocreator.

It was probably the Jade Serpent. We've had trouble hunting them down, I wouldn't be surprised if they were using the remnants of our proud heritage as hideouts.

Damn blasphemers. We need to root them out and annihilate them.

Added to the list.

Artoire Arc Fact #27: If his waifu is harmed while under your protection, he will eat you alive.
Artoire Arc Fact #27 Addendum A: Unless you can provide him with the actual attacker to be eaten in your place.

Whatever it was, she survived, which means it was either unwilling or incapable of finishing the job.

We've tried, but they keep being one step ahead of us. I expect that it will only be more difficult now that they are allied with the LeFey. We'll keep trying though, hopefully getting Shade Academy operational will help us crack down on crime.

Guys, I'm flattered, but I'm not a miracle worker. This is just like when those anti-Royalist investigators from Mantle disappeared without a trace. I can't figure things out with nothing to work with.

It could be the Jade Serpent. @Mook_Squad confirmed that they wouldn't seek her out on purpose, but she could have stumbled on them.

It could have been an elaborate Dust trap. She's a brilliant Dust Caster, but we all know that the ancients possessed knowledge of Dust that we can't even imagine today.

It could also have been the Grimm, no matter how horrific it is to imagine a Grimm capable of piercing through Aura.

We just don't have enough information.

As far as any of us know, @Illyria2004's omake could be right and Cherise got shanked by an angry ghost.

Edit: Aaaand it's just been declared Semi-Canon.

Just what is going on... Oh.

We're haunted.

Well played, @Mook_Squad. Well played.

Okay, I say we seal up the tomb and stay out until we can get Cherise to take a proper look at it. We really can't afford to lose Huntsmen and researchers to literally haunted ruins right now. Maybe we can investigate when Shade is running properly, but not yet.

@Mook_Squad, if a crit-fail got Cherise attacked by a ghost, what did she roll to get our of it?

Aura persisting after death and continuing to interact with the world? That is a very interesting take on things. I hope we can pursue this with further Piety projects. Maybe a collaboration with the other academies, now that we finally have one of our own. We have to prove we can make contributions on our own and not just be carried by Beacon and Haven.

She won't be able to assist this turn, but inviting Cherise Cheshire to help investigate the ruin is indeed an option. Even though it's now a Tier 1 site, you can pull some strings and cut through the bureaucracy to make an exception for her.

Unfortunately, the information you'd need for full canonicity is not something I can share with the thread at this time.

Let's just say that Cherise Cheshire have a number of secret trump cards she wasn't expecting to need, but is very happy she had prepared.
Cryocreator said:

She failed the Crit Fail Recovery roll (she got 85 and needed 100).

Then, she got a total of 7 crits on two Piety rolls, 4 for ??? and 3 for combat.

And to answer your next question: yes, a crit-fail was the only result she would have failed this action on.

Good. I don't even want to imagine how bad things would have gone if we had sent in a research team expecting a Tier 3 site only to run into angry ghosts.

Vacuo is actually built on Ancient Vacuoan (Vacuan?) Burial Grounds.

I'm all for inviting her back. We all remember what happened to the last group of people in Vacuo too stubborn to accept outside help and I'd rather not repeat that mistake.

Damn. Cherise is scary. I hope whoever we get for Shade can be even half that level of bullshit.

This is surprisingly plausible. We might want to spent a Piety action or two investigating.

I wouldn't put it past @Mook_Squad to give our dice rolls secret Ghost Penalties without telling us.

A warm Negaverse welcome to @Attila the Pun (@Ivan the Not-so-Terrible), @BigBadMunchkin, @C-gun150, and @virtuebedlam.
Personally I love it whenever I see a Negaverse omake, it's so funny seeing them do things which I know SV users do and makes perfect sense to them but is actually a very bad move.

Also I volunteer for my name to be used because I never get to see myself in one of those.
If you are writing more negaverse omakes, I volunteer to be the bloodthirsty powergamer who advocates "final solutions". Name suggestion: BigBadMunchkin. In retrospect, I should have checked whether the name was available on SV when I signed up.
I would like to volunteer the name "C-gun150" for the Negaverse, my specialty is well-timed snark, and I also dabble in theory-crafting. Granted, my response to last turn would probably involve lots of swearing, but for the others I might be more eloquent.
I've been working on a cast list that I'll probably post some day.

Don't mind the following, just making a note so that I can see which Negaverse people are actually rating.
Vacuo #2 - Haunted Tomb.
Added some stuff and changed the order of a couple of posts to account for the no-votes-are-going-on-but-you-wrote-an-omake-anyway-so-thanks-for-that reward:
@Ashmaker

Since I don't feel up to spending precious writing time filling out a character sheet for you right now, your extra bonus for the omake will be that I'm locking in an available Piety action for next turn where Vacuo brings you in to consult on the tomb.
