Miyara rises from her chair and floats to the front, until she is facing you with her arms cross her expression unreadable.

"An acceptable choice of anime for a member of the Mystery Investigation Club." She nods. "I would have rather not been forced into being in an OVA, but at least you didn't put me in that farcical slice of life comedy."

"Alright then!" Mr Henderson slaps his hands together. "Let's examine your stats and traits to see who gets first pick of character roles."
The whiteboard behind you lights up, and shows both your names along with the desired attributes, including traits.

"If your stats match with the desired ones, or if you have a desired trait they will glow green. If they are within one set of two, they will glow orange. For example, if someone had self-awareness 7-8 or self-awareness 3-4, they would both glow orange, because the self-awareness is 5-6.

"A Green stat is worth 2 points, and an orange stat is worth 1. A green trait is also worth 2 points. Let's check the stats!" You both turn to the board, and see what lights up.

"And by 3 points, our top pick is Miyara Chikuma!" Mr Henderson said, clapping his hands, and the audience politely applauded too.

Well I didn't actually think I'd win, you consoled yourself. I picked her because she would be naturally suited to be a detective, much better than me. I could learn a lot from her. I also managed to learn a few things about her. You glance at the board.

Now I know she definitely has a studiousness of between 7 and 8 and has the trait bookworm, but isn't 'Hunted' whatever that means. I can also get an idea about her other stats. Opness must be at least a 5 or higher, otherwise it would have glowed orange. Could she be a 9 OPness like Tori? You look at Miyara with some trepidation. How much power is in one Lolita?

This also means her self-awareness is either 3-4 or 7-8. If I spend more time with her maybe I can figure it out. Also her attractiveness is close to 3-4 like mine is. But she's probably a 5-6 then, cause she's really attractive. At that moment Miyara narrows her eyes at, as if she's studying you. Wait, can she read my mind!?

"I can't read your mind." Miyara notes.

That's a relief-WAIT A SECOND!

"It's called cold reading, a useful skill for any detective. Getting an idea on what you're thinking from your body language and facial expressions, along with educated guesses." She explains. "For example, I know that you wanted to be the antagonist." You're taken aback, and you hear a few gasps from the audience. "If you didn't, you would have picked someone less obviously suited for this kind of genre." Then, without even glancing at the teacher she says,

"Mr Henderson, I choose to be the Cultist antagonist, and for Ikashi Toryauna to be the Detective Protagonist." The entire class gasps.

"Me?" You sputter out. "But you're much better suited to be a detective-"

"I already know I'm an excellent detective." She notes. "However, I believe this OVA is an excellent testing ground to prove your own detective skills, as the newest member of the club. IF," she raises a finger. "you can solve the mystery by the end of the OVA detective, I'll teach you the basics of cold reading. It should combine nicely with your magnifying glass."

Before you can disagree, Mr Henderson holds up the white vhs tape to the sky.

"Alright guys, it's my favourite time." A portal appears directly above you and Miyara.

[LOCKED] You had just finished up studying several old languages, including Sanskrit, Latin, Ancient Egyptian, and a few more that people didn't even know ever existed. [Requires Studiousness 5 or higher. Gain fluency in multiple dead tongues]

[ ] You must have dozed off. You were just enjoying the complete works of H.P. Lovecraft, and was just about to go over the latest edition of the Call of Chtullu RPG before you dozed off. Can't be helped, you are a super fan of the genre. [Requires Self-Awareness 2 or higher. You may use Meta knowledge of H.P. Lovecraft stories, recognize the clichés immediately.]
