Fall Season-End of first Day
*Back in the classroom*

"Oh well, I was just…" You glance around as if worried someone is listening in, before cautiously asking, "I'm a bit concerned how easily the teacher believed the summoned to another world thing. Does that happen a lot to students here?"

"Not really." Tori responded. "Usually it only happens when we have exchange programs. That's actually where most of our foreign exchange or transfer students come from. But we haven't had any students actually get transferred to another world against their will in about 3 years." She stops to consider something.

"Although we did lose our teacher Charles Airigniac last semester to a Steampunk world. Never found out what happened to him." She admitted.

"But the fact is interdimensional kidnappings rarely happen to one of our students. It usually happens to ordinary kids who blend into the background and aren't remotely remarkable."

You nervously rub the back of your head. I'm starting to feel like I should carry around a whistle, or maybe some pepper spray…

"Hey, um, you mentioned that there were clubs earlier." You change the subject. "What kind of clubs are there?"

"Oh there's quite a few." Tori notes, looking over her notes from class. "At the start of semester everyone tries to start a club. There's almost no rules on what can or can't be a club. However, if you don't have 5 members by week 3, your club is forced to disband."

"Oh I see. So, you're saying anyone can start a club?" You enquire.

"Yup. Just pick a topic it's about, send a form to the teacher's office, and then start recruiting members. Here, I've got a spare form." She reaches into her bag and hands a form to you.

"I wanted to start a Visual Novel club, but everyone I asked wanted to join a Literature Club. I mean, really, who wants to listen to poetry all day?"

"I bet nothing interesting happens at the Literature Club." You say with a smile.

"Exactly." Tori says with a nod. "So I'm not in a club right now. But the clubs will have adverts for their clubs up tomorrow, so you can see what's available. Or even start your own, but running a club takes a lot of time, so don't start one lightly. Clubs can also get quite competitive, about funding and members. So it's good to have strong bonds with people to get them to be part of your club."

*Achievement name unlocked- Club La Club*

"Speaking of strong bonds," You say, crossing your arms. "How come I don't have a Social Link with you?"

"With me?" Tori raises an eyebrow at you. "Why would we have a link?"

"Well, I mean, I thought, well, you're really nice and spend time with me-"

"Is our current relationship not satisfactory?" She leans in close to you, her nose almost touching yours.

"Whaa! Huh, I mean, I don't, no I'm satisfied, I just-" You fluster at her closeness, looking away embarrassed.

"Did you want something…more?" You go red as you feel her breath on your cheek.

"I-I-I," You're burning up, before finally bringing yourself to meet Tori's eyes.

And you see she's doing a terrible job holding in a laugh, her face scrunched up with a massive smile.

"You're teasing me aren't you?" You say dryly.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't help it." Tori says, leaning back as she giggles. "You were so adorable.

"To apologise, let me add an addendum to my last point about Social Links."

*Tori Tutorial-Social Link Addendum A*

"Starting a Social Link can be easier or more difficult depending on the individual. Sometimes, they can be won over by a gift they really appreciate.

"Other times, performing a task for them can help get over that initial barrier. Others will only initiate social links with you, if you share a social link with someone else, or possess a trait they consider valuable. And occasionally, it will be a certain phrase or action that can activate a social link. It varies person to person.

"The most reliable way to find out how will be to spend time with them, but maybe there are faster ways out there? You'll need to discover those by yourself."

*Tutorial over*

Your arms are crossed, even as you absorb all that knowledge.

"You're still meaner than the Chibi version of you?" You say without thinking.

"Chibi version of me?" Tori asks confused.

*Special Scene Unlocked*

"Uh, well um…see when I was meeting with Jad I was kinda…well long story short I ended up in a heap." You admit. "When I did, I saw an image of you in
Chibi form circling my head like a tweedle bird in one of those old Looney Toon cartoons."

"Ah." Tori nodded. "And what did Chibi me do?"

"She uh…told me off for looking up." You admit guilty.

"I see." Tori rests her face in her hands. "Well I don't know how to feel."

"Huh?" You ask confused. "Feel?"

"On the one hand, you just confessed that you were daydreaming about me." She says, eyes staring off in the distance.

"Wha-I wasn't dreaming-" You try to interrupt but Tori continues.

"On the other hand, you seem to have this strange Chibi fetish, which is a little unsettling."

"Wha-wha-fetish!" You sputter.

"I worry I should warn Pichipitto-sensei of your 'inclinations'." She says, sighing dramatically.

"Alright, now you're fucking with me." You rebuke angrily.

"You seem upset about that. Is it because I'm not the size of a toddler?" She questions, but you can see the glint of mischief in her eyes.

"Alright, we're done here. Back to the notes!" You exclaim, as you try to control the situation. However, Tori's smile implies this is far from over.

*Scene ended-Tori on your mind*

Congratulations-you have given Tori ample ammunition to tease you with. She will remember this.

As the two of you walk to the bus stop, you both keep chatting.

"So what are the dorms like?" Tori asks. "They're same sex right?"

"Yeah they are. There are two dorms, Dorm Jump for boys and Dorm Ciao for girls. They're both two big buildings, but they connect in the middle where the entrance is, so we can see each other when we leave, or go to the big dorm kitchen."

"Oh I see. So I imagine you're gonna start doing nightly raids of the girls?" She teases.

"I'm not suicidal. There's a security guard in the connecting area at night, who makes sure no one gets out after dark. Some say he's a devil from hell who got kicked out of McDonalds-others, that he's a samurai from Feudal Japan caught adrift in time. All I know, is he's terrifying." You shiver at the thought.

"Well good to know the only thing keeping you from corrupting the innocence of young girls is fear of getting caught." Tori notes.

"Oh come on, that's not what I said-stop sticking your tongue out at me!" You try to challenge her as she cheerfully carries on.

"Hey, let me see your report sheet." She demands.

"Huh? Alright." Caught off guard you hand it to her. She scans it intensely.

"Oh good, you've gained a new trait." She points it out to you.

"Oh yeah I have!" You say excitedly before pausing. "Uh, what does it mean?"

*Tori Tutorial-Traits*

"Traits are special qualities you have that go beyond stats. Having access to Traits allows you new options in almost all situations-including when in an anime.

"However, the most valuable part of a Trait, is when applying to join an Anime. Different Anime will desire different traits in their protagonists. If you have the same stats as your fellow applicant, but you have a desired trait and they don't, you will almost certainly get the role instead of them.

"However, some Anime don't like certain traits. If you possess a trait they don't want their protagonist to have, then even if you have all the right stats, you're less likely to get the role than someone with the same stats but without the trait.

"Of course, an undesirable trait for one anime might be a very desirable trait in another. And having one desirable trait usually outweighs having one undesirable trait.

"As a Tori Tip, try and get as many traits as you can-you never know which Trait might be the deciding factor."

*Tutorial End*

Tori then looks down at the sheet and smirks.

"Oooh, you've developed a social link with Jad."

"Wait, really?" You reach for it, but she holds it away.

"Ooh, I thought you might be friends, but now that I know you're into short girls, I'm wondering if it's a bit…more." She teases you.

"Hey give that back." You grab at it, and Tori lets you take it.

"Well I am happy for your new relationship, even if," She rests a hand on her forehead dramatically. "You stop dreaming about me."

"Oh shut up." You frown at her as you blush through your ears.

"*sniff* where did the love go?" She asks dramatically.

*Beep beep*

You see the electric bus come to the station.

"Well this is mine." She waves at you as she gets on. "See you tomorrow Ikashi."

"See you." You smile back at her. You watch her go off in the distance, before heading back to your dorm.

"Welcome back Toryauna-kun." A deep booming voice greets you from the front desk.
You shiver at his smile. He's clearly trying to be warm, but it's not his fault he gives off the aura of a boa constrictor encircling his prey.

"G-good to see you too Mr Knight." You respond.

"Please, I told you. You can call me Piyopiyo." He says, trying to smile broadly.

"Uh yeah…have a good night sir!" You say, before quickly heading to your room.

"Sleep well Toryauna-kun!" He calls out with a wave.

Back in your room, you slam the door shut. You consider going outside, seeing some of the other people on the dorms, but really…you're not feeling up to it.

Today has been a weird first day. When you first came in, you thought you would know everything-that you'd be able to fit into Anime Academy immediately, and everyone would respect your protagonist potential.

But almost immediately, everyone else was far more impressive than you. Wearing armor, coming from familes of protagonists, being able to play complicated card games that sent their teacher to other realms-even the other ordinary-ish person there was better than you in every stat!

You needed to prove everyone wrong. That you could be more than a faceless boy in the background-an unnamed extra without even a voice actor. You glance down at your stats.

All abysmal. Even when the teachers saw you, you clearly didn't register in their minds. You needed to improve. You needed to show the teachers what you could do. To show everybody.

And tonight, you were going to start by…

Choose 1

*The Next Day*

"Now class," your teacher Hazayo Sensei Professor Henderson finishes writing on the chalk board and looks at all of you. "Out of these 3 options, which is the worst place to perform exposition and why?"

The options are in a classroom, while in transit on a vehicle, on your deathbed.

"Yes Miyara Chikuma?" He asks, pointing to a girl with silver hair, dressed in a dark blue gothic lolita attire.
"Clearly performing exposition on your deathbed is the worst." Her voice is posh but firm. "Both because of the unlikeliness of one having the energy to finish sharing this knowledge before perishing, but also shows a lack of forethought in sharing this knowledge at a time when you weren't close to departing the mortal coil."

"Fair answer." Professor Hendersonstop that's not my name nods. "Anyone have a different one? Yes Ochanomizu Takura?"

"Uh yeah, if you mean the 'correct' one, than I've got it." The girl with metal arms coming out her back raises one of her metal limbs. Without waiting for acknowledgement, she begins. "The worst place is a classroom. Seriously, exposition in a classroom? That's soooo cliché. Besides, if exposition happens in a classroom, the audience zones out anyway, waiting for the next exciting scene."

A small crash is heard. Turning around, you see a kid in a labcoat with curly hair look embarrassed. He's picking up some metal screws off the floor, and it was clear he was building some kind of machine.

"Yuuchi Koto." Professor HendersonI am Hazayo-Sensei! addresses the embarresed boy. "Perhaps you have an answer?"
"Wuh, uh, well, I guess…" Yuuchi fumbles with his words and his tools as he tries to hide them in his bag. "Transit is kind of a weak place for exposition. I mean, it really only serves to fill the gap in travel, but it's not like anything interesting is happening. Wouldn't it be better to just cut straight to the next place, rather than have travel time you need to fill with exposition."

"Good answer Yuuchi." Professor HendersonHazayoHazayoHazayoHazayoHaz smiles at the student. "Does anyone else want to contribute an answer?"

This is my chance! You think to yourself, as your hand shoots up. The moment you've been waiting for!

"Professor Henderson?" You ask.

"Yes Toryauna-san?" Even you Ikashi-kun?

"The correct answer is…none of them are the worst place to perform exposition." The class all looks at you, while your teacher crosses his arms patiently.

"All of those places can serve as great places for exposition depending on the context of the anime they are in. A deathbed exposition works great in an action or dramatic series, where the importance is for the exposition to carry emotional weight and gravitas, rather than realism.

"Having a classroom explanation works great in a school setting, where it offers a sense of routine for the viewer and characters-in between fighting monsters or solving mysteries, they still head back to school.

"Finally, exposition in transit works great in situations where the characters are forced to be on the move, or are on a journey. Like a spaceship of bounty hunters, or pirate ship, where the journey is as important as the destination, it shows the people in their natural environment. And since the audience will get used to not immediately cutting to the next location, they can be surprised if something attacks the characters mid-transit.

"Essentially, all of these can be bad places, if they don't suit the context of the anime they're in, or pushes the audience's acceptable suspension of disbelief." You finish, waiting to hear the response.

"Good answer Toryauna-san." Professor Henderson says with a clap. "Well done."

*Ding *

You glance down at your report card.

Studiousness is now 2.

Nice. You think to yourself, and pump your fist excitedly.

"Alright class, that's the bell." Professor HendersonYou can't silence me forever, the fans know the truth says with a clap. "You guys enjoy your free period. Remember, next class we'll be discussing the first anime you'll be auditioning for next week, so get hyped!"

Auditioning? You think to yourself as you stand up to leave. I don't even know how that process works-umpfh!

You fall onto your ass as you bump into something.

"Oh man, I'm so sorry." Scratch that, someone. You look up to see it's the kid who was working on something in class, also flat on his ass. "I'm so clumsy."

"No problem…Yuuchi Koto-san right?" You ask as you help each other up.

"Yeah!" He says with a smile. "That's cool you know my name. And you're Ikashi-san right? I remember your introduction yesterday-man that took guts!"

"Aw, it was nothing really." You say embarresed, rubbing your head.

"Well I was wondering if, uh maybe…" He stumbles over his words awkwardly. "Uh, do you do machines?"

"Do I do what?" You say shocked.

"I mean do, as in like machines? I mean, oh this isn't coming out right-do you like working on machines? Tinkering?" He asks.

"Uh, haven't really thought about it." You say honestly.

"Ah. Well, I ask cause I'm starting a club, The Maintenance Club. We work on machines, fix em up, talk about how they tick, that sort of thing. It's currently just me and my friend Hagane, but we'd be happy to have you."

"Uh maybe." You shrug.

"Ah cool. It's in Garage C, if you want to come." He then heads off, before dropping more screws to pick up.

"You're a curious being." You turn around to see the silver haired girl from before, Miyara Chikuma. You realise she's very small, Jad's height if that.

"What, me?" You ask, pointing at yourself.

"You are a painfully ordinary looking fellow, yet with an overblown ego we normally see in Shonen characters, despite lacking any physical traits of merits." She says, listing your flaws without emotion.

"Hey." You hold your stomach protectively. "That's a bit harsh."

"However, you displayed a level of critical thinking I hadn't expected. Which makes me wonder what kind of character you are. It's a mystery I might like to solve." She says, her expression unchanging.

"Uh…thank you?" You tilt your head confused.

"Indeed. A potential topic for my burgeoning Mystery Investigation Club." She puts a blue piece of paper in your hand. "Come to the top floor of the Library. Carry that seal if you want to survive the barriers."

"Uh, yeah, I'll be sure to think about doing that." You glance at the paper. It has the Kanji for Light over the Kanji for Darkness, surrounded by a pentagram.
You glance back at Miyara, but see she is now eye level. Glancing down you see she is levitating somehow. She then turns and floats off the corridor at high speed.

"Ok, Magical Detective Gothic Lolita Girl." You mutter to yourself. "I guess if you keep adding adjectives, eventually you'll make something origina-Aaah!" You scream as something grabs you by the ankles and pulls you to the ground.

"YOU!" You find yourself hanging upside down, face to face with Ochanomizu Takura dangling from one of her robot limbs. "Didn't I tell you that you were 10 years too early to challenge me?"

"Uh yes, I sorta remember you maybe saying something like that?" You say, trying to laugh through the fear.

"And yet today you dare try to challenge my intelligence in the classroom?" She brings you eye to eye. "I should destroy you for your impudence!"

"Wait wait, let's not go overboard here!" You wave your arms pleadingly. "I wasn't trying to offend you or anything Takura-san!"

"Hmm." She seems to consider your words. "You may not have, but still any potential rival to my intelligence is either a threat or an ally. Which are you?"

"Uh…" The blood rushing to your head is making you sweat. "Ally?"

"Good answer." She puts you down, none too gentle. "This is where my organisation-The EEWDC- will be meeting." A different robot limb hands you a pamphlet.

The Evil Empire of World Domination and Cookies Club-meets in Music Room 6F.
Join the Dark Side- it's where the Chocolate chips are.

"I expect to see you soon." She says, before heading off, the limbs moving her like a spider.

"Oww…" you say aloud. "That's one way to ask someone to join your club.

Suddenly you get a text on your phone. You glance down and read,

Hi Ikashi,
I had to stay home to take care of something. I'll be in class for next period. Try to enjoy yourself without me.
The world is your sandbox!

Omake Challenge #1-Self-Aware Student
Hi there. You might have noticed in that last post that, after choosing studiousness, you were given the names of 3 characters who all seemed to have different forms of intelligence. That was not a coincidence.

I know, I know. Top 10 Anime Betrayals blah blah blah.

Depending on which of the stats you chose, I would have exposed you to 3 different characters, each examplifying that attribute in a certain way. These characters still exist, you've just yet to meet them yet.

However, Self-awareness is one of those attributes where it's definition is a bit unclear. How could you express a self-aware character in a way that hasn't been done before? Or is self-aware in different ways?

Well, rather than force me to do the thinking (Don't I do enough for you people?) I thought I'd ask you guys if you wanted to come up with one yourself.

The challenge is to come up with a student in Anime Academy who exemplifies Self-Awareness in a novel or interesting way. I will pick my favorite one, and that student will be part of Anime Academy-additionally, said character will start off with a social link level of 1 with the Protagonist. What that link is, I will discuss with the reader.

Childhood friend? Transfer student who seems to know you really well? Sworn Rival? Imouto? Stalker? Skies the limit here. You don't even have to say what the link is in the submission (although you can if you want to).

Anyway the rules are simple:
1. Submission should come with a picture, drawing or image of some kind. It helps visualise everything. Google Fu or stealing from exisiting Anime, games or western animation is fine.
2. They should be recognisably anime, either a familiar trope (subverted or otherwise), or expy of a character, etc. However, they can't literally be from a real anime. No Yamcha trying to get his own anime where he isn't the butt of every joke. However, 'Hamcha' is fine.
3. A brief idea of their personality, 3 things they like and 3 things they dislike (food, weather, blood types, can be big or small)
4. If they could be the protagonist of any anime, what would their dream anime be?

Hope that's clear. I'll give it a week or two, to see if there's interest for this kind of thing. It's an experiment, so let me know if there's any questions you might have.

Black Haired Boy
Named
Yuki Karasu
.............................................................................

I like girls, anime, and being happy.

I hate bullies, being called Kara, and sadness.

I'm a eighteen year old i'm 5 foot 7 inch male weighing 138 pounds. I have balck hair, red eyes, and my blood type is AB.

My friends describe me as a handsome nerd.

The anime I want to be the protagonist in is a high school slice of life.

Brief History:
In Kara's(his nickname even though he hates it with a passion) 7th grade year he meet a strange man wearing an trenchcoat. The man told him about this school called Anime Academy then handed him a card. At first little Kara didn't trust the strange man. But then he talked to his parents who apparently were former graduates. They then told him in detail about their llife there, soon Kara was infuated with Anime Academy so much so that he watched evey anime he can from Death Note to Naruto. As he grew older he realized the little tropes how the Shonen guys always yelled their techinques, how the strong guys are very cute or adorable when you notice their "quirks". Eventually he knew everything about "anime."

Applicant #2-Alice Robert Carol by dontpressenter
People think the writer's imagination is always at work, that she's constantly inventing an endless supply of incidents and episodes; that she simply dreams up her stories out of thin air. In point of fact, the opposite is true. Once the public knows you're a writer, they bring the characters and events to you. And as long as you maintain your ability to look, and to carefully listen, these stories will continue to...

Wait, that's 'The Grand Budapest Hotel'.

No matter. It will do for now.

For you see, there exists two types of people; those who make history, and those who write it down.

Hello, I'm Alice.

Name: Alice Robert Carol.
Appearance:

Personality:
My mentor always said that I should show, rather than tell, as the reader becomes more invested in your narration that way. And in a world full of story, what is someone who observes what goes around her but a narrator? So though I can tell you that I'm thoughtful and observant, maybe it would be better to point out that these qualities are essential for a narrator. You may not have any other qualities, but you simply must be able to note down enough detail for you, dear reader, to be more immersed in the telling.

Speaking of which, you can hear me, right? Your mind is projecting a voice, my voice, inside your head?

Good.

That means it's working.

Likes:
Oh, the usual. Cute boys, rainbows, and a good story.

Dislikes:
Loud noises, misplaced postmodernism and arbitrary point systems.

Dream Anime:
Alice R. Carol, Ace Reporter! Glamourous Adventuress! That'd be nice. I'm thinking Tintin. Although, I don't recall him doing any reporting, so maybe that's a bad example. Um, maybe Lois Lane? And by Lois Lane I don't mean the wierd possessive silver age Lois. I'm talking Golden Age Fleischer-era Lois. The one that machine guns down Nazis. That one.

I'm not aware of many examples from anime of jet-setting reporters travelling around the world in 72 days to get the scoop (if you have the time, look up Nellie Bly, she's amazing), so maybe I can be one of the first!

I first met Ikashi Toryauna on a train to Nagoya. I had the pleasure of sitting next to him, though at first he was a bit confused.

"What's happening?" he asked, more to the air than to me, "I thought the plot of the anime finished years ago?"

I giggled lightly, covering it with the back of my hand. Even experienced protagonists, it seemed, got confused when flashbacks and flashforwards were involved. The disparity between the timeline of the show and the timeline of the universe took some getting used to.

"
Relax," I said, "This is merely a framing device." I motioned to the scene around us. "This train to Nagoya? The fact that I'm interviewing you about said events that happened years ago? Window dressing for the main plot, the story that you will tell me now."

He looked at me with narrowed eyes, before comprehension dawned on his face. "Oh, like Persona 5 with Joker retelling the story to Sae?"

I clapped my hands. "Exactly! Or like the Daily Days reporters trying to figure out the plot to Baccano!"

"Okay, okay I think I understand," he said before his eyes narrowed again, "Aren't you just Carol from Baccano, though? I thought you can't be a simple ripoff."

I shook my head. "Carol is my last name," I said, "It's completely different."

He remained unconvinced.

"But nevermind that," I went on, "Let's start with beginning of that school year, Fall, wasn't it? And the leaves were falling..."
I took a slice out of cake put in front of me and put it in my mouth, audibly reacting to the sweet taste. "Did you know," I said, "That the 1st level of Super Mario Brothers was the last one actually made? The 1st level could only be made after all the concepts and moves that the game had was fully implemented and understood before the level that was meant to teach the player could be made.

Beginnings are important, you see. First impressions are important. We, with all our flaws, do judge a book by its cover, or at least its first couple of lines. My mentor once told me, "Don't start writing something if you don't know how you'll end."'

I tilted my head in thought.

"He also said that you could break the rules, if and only if you mastered them. So there's that.

But we're not playing on the usual board, are we? Despite the fact we're in the future, we don't know how this story ends, because it hasn't been written yet. And the one writing, he or she doesn't know how this story ends either, because this is not a story in the usual sense. The author is not following a path of his own making, but is being directed by another. Fate may lead the story to places no one even considers or expects."

I stare at my half eaten cake. My companion doesn't speak.

"And as such, it is more likely than not that we, mere parts in this play, are lead to no ending at all."

Okay, so Yuuichi has a more MacGuyver-style intelligence, whereas Miyazaki is more like a Sherlock-type figure, but what type of intelligence does Ochanomizu exemplify? All I see so far is ego and ambition, but nothing yet to back it up. Not even social intelligence, since, y'know, zero tact.

With Jad and her intel-gathering, we lend ourselves handily to a more investigative focus. Plus, mysteries are always cool. Also, is this going to be like Gosick? Because it looks like it, what with the whole "mysterious gothic loli detective" thing.

Alright, so for self-awareness, it seems people are making characters with narrative self-awareness AKA 4th wall breaking genre savviness AKA Deadpool syndrome. But everyone at Anime academy has that to some degree, for obvious reasons, so what about a more literal interpretation?

Name: Riboru Kinoko
Brief Personality Descritpion: Extremely unflappable and levelheaded, she knows her wants, her needs, and her limits. Rarely shows emotion unless prompted, and maintains civility and politeness when interacting with others. Won't allow herself to grow emotionally close to others, and tries her best to maintain awareness of her surroundings at all times in case of an emergency. Is somewhat of a sociopath.
Likes:
-Guns and gun maintenance
-Self-reliance and self-improvement
-Observing others and their interactions with one another
Dislikes
-Authority figures, obligations, and lack of autonomy
-Growing too involved with or too attached to, anyone or anything
-Hedonists
Dream Anime: Noir thriller set in an extremely rainy and overcrowded city. Similar to Kowloon Walled City in population density, criminal landscape, and appearance, but more dystopian, more labyrinthine, and with much more rain. Early 1970s tech and culture.

Extra notes: Is a member of the Maintenance Club, and enjoys learning how various devices function and operate, especially mechanics and hydraulics, such as timepieces and pistons. Helps teach the other club members about gun safety and upkeep. Doesn't interact with people unless prompted, but remains polite at all times. There's a rumor going around that she's related to or involved with the yakuza, but no one is certain about the details, so the truth is still a mystery.

Dream Anime: Anything not shallow, both in characters and scenario, since observing how it is and changing how it will be is his thing.

(optional) Extra notes:
Knowing yourself is not always something you know you know. Strange and difficult to understand, uhh? But that is just the thing. Sometimes you know something, but don't know that you know. Veritas is like that, he knows himself really well, but never in those exact words: he sees the world how it is, and how it's supposed to be, and how other people see it, he sees it from all sides, and knowing "everything" around, the choices he makes can put better definition to who he is, a kind soul that wants to mend things broken, even knowing that not all can be fixed, he focus on the people he cares about... Although is awfully easy to get in this list, unless you're rude to someone already in it.

Day 2-Meeting The Mystery Investigation Club
[X] Go meet someone to hang out
-[X] Miyara

(Optional) Free Action
[X] Ask Jad to spy on a named character (Can't be chosen if you choose to spend time with Jad)
-[X] Ochanomizu

There's no harm in seeing what kind of 'mysteries' this mystery investigation club investigates. And there's no need to commit to joining it, if it gets too weird.

"Of course the problem is that psychotic super villain might have it out for me." You mutter aloud. "How do I deal with her?

"Your orders are clear brother Ikashi." A familiar voice calls out from above. You look up to see the ninja girl Jad crawling on the ceiling. "I will end her before nightfall."

"Whoa there!" You exclaim, waving your hands quickly. "I don't want to kill her! I'm pretty sure that'll get us kicked out of school for one."

"Hmm, your point is valid." Jad notes. "Then I will simply spy on her, to learn her weaknesses. Expect my report soon!" She pulls out a black sphere from her pocket. "Smoke bomb no-jutsu!

"Wait I didn't ask you to do that either-" But it's too late, as she's tossed her sphere on the floor, causing an explosion of smoke. When the smoke bomb clears, there is no sign of Jad. "Ugh. That's barely a jutsu."

Still, you make your way to the library.
---

The library is quite busy-it seems a lot of students do use their free time to study. You can see volumes of different mangas and light novels under 'research', along with different analtyical thesis on different topics, many penned by the Anime Pope himself. There is even an even wing dedicated to determining who is best girl or best boy, but most of the books seem to be refuting the arguments against the other books, along with fairly childish name calling.

Still you look around for a set of stairs that lead upstairs to the 'top floor' of the library. The library has 4 floors, but there's no sign of Miyara anywhere. Suddenly the piece of paper she gives you starts to wobble and grow warm, before flying out of your hand and pressing against the ceiling. A glowing magic circle appears, and several books fly off their shelves and form into a staircase leading to the circle.

You step up the staircase of books, and enter the circle of magic, going through it like a portal to the top floor.

As you go through the portal, you find yourself in a much smaller library-however there are glowing plants growing out of the woodwork. Flowers and bushels and tiny trees sparkly in the light from the open windows, as their vines crisscross over the books. It looks like no one has been in here in years-

"You're late." You turn to see the silver haired girl from before, sitting at a mahogany desk. Her voice is emotionless as is her expression, as she drinks a cup of tea.

Before you can respond the other person at the desk answers for you.

"Hey give him a break! This place is really hard to find!" You see it's the dark haired boy from the first day, the one who wore a hello kitty eye-patch and a dark trenchcoat. He's also got bandages all over his right hand. You also notice that the eye with an eye patch on is a different eye from before. He's sitting at the table as well, chewing on some chocolate biscuits.

"Allow me to introduce myself!" He stands proudly, the biscuit crumbs flying as he speaks, as he covers his eyepatch with his right hand. "I'm Mrinthon Darkblade, son of an angel samurai and a demonic ballroom dancer, cursed to hold in my body the power of the Dark Phoenix-Fox King. If I ever were to release even 5% of my power, it could destroy the entire world-" He's interrupted by Miyara.

"Your name is Will Stubbs, you're from New Jersey, your parents are normal humans, and you don't have a trace of magical power in you." Miyara says quickly, in between sips.

"Uh...." Mrinthon-or Will you guess, is shocked by her words. "I mean...well, that's just your opinion!" He shouts, before grabbing severa biscuits and moving to where you stand.

"So, what brings you to the Mystery Investigation club? Are you also keen to discover the secrets of the universe, and the dark wonders normal man were not meant to know?" He asks, offering you a chocolate biscuit. They are surprisingly tasty.

"He intrigued me by his demeanour not matching his lack of noticeble traits of qualtiy." Miyara notes. "I invited him here to learn if he possessed some special power or ability he doesn't fully understand."

"Wow!" Mrinthon's eyes widen in wonder at you. "So you've got some kind of cool special power? What is it?"

Day 2-The Mystery of your Hidden Power?
Chosen action:
"I've always felt the natural sense of energy surrounding me since I was born, burning within me, but I don't really understand it, or how to control it." (Gain +1 Opness, gain social link with Mrinthon, "potential for Magic Ability" Trait)

"Well the truth is," You nervously look aside as you run your hand through your hair. ""I've always felt the natural sense of energy surrounding me since I was born, burning within me, but I don't really understand it, or how to control it."

"Surrounding you and burning within you?" Mirana begins to ask. "Do you mean that the energy leaks out, because I'm not detecting emissions-" B

"I knew it!" Mrinthon shouts, grabbing your hands in his, jumping up and down excitedly. "I could FEEL the power bursting out of you the moment I met you?"

"You never mentioned detecting any energy to me." Miyara questions.

"I-I just felt it would be impolite to mention it." He slaps you on the back. "I too work hard to conceal my true power. We're brothers in arms-no, soul brothers! Oh wait!" Mrinthon turned to you excited.

"Maybe we are real brothers, torn apart at birth and adopted, only to be reunited here as young men!" He starts posing heroically. "Or perhaps we are reincarnated rivals, destined to test each other for all eternity!"

How do you respond?

[ ] "The brother thing could be true. I never knew my real parents."
[ ] "You know I do feel like we've met before in another life."
[ ] "Maybe we were destined to be…lovers?"
[ ] "Perhaps we could just keep it casual? As friends."
[ ] "Could someone rescue me from this pit of crazy? Anybody?"

You feel your pocket shake, and pull out your report card. You note the new changes.
You are now rank 2 in OPness.

Gained Trait "Potential for Magical Ability"
This Trait represents a suspicion that you might have untapped magical ability. Or it just could be gas. This is a Proto Trait-it can evolve into various different traits, depending on your actions.

Gained Social Link 1 with Mrinthon Darkblade/Will Stubbs

Unlock new special friend bonus: Novelty Bandages of Power Concealment.

Sometimes you need to keep your true potential hidden-sometimes because it makes you a target, other times it's because an Anime doesn't want to recruit someone whose too OP.

When you would gain a point in OPness, you may instead apply a novelty bandage, and keep your OPness rank at the same level. At any time, you may remove the bandages and gain all the points contained at once. This does not allow you to go over the maximum score of 10.

"Regardless," Miyara's voice brings your attention back. "I feel you're 'peculiarities' would make you a useful assistant detective for our club." A magnifying glass hovers in front of her. "The Mystery Investigation Club is a club that investigates mysteries in this school."

"That's a bit on the nose." You note.

"That's what I said!" Mrinthon nods. "That's why I wanted to be called the Dark Shadow Society, or Undercover Hell Death Brigade!"

"Like I said before, those names are meaningless." Miyara remarks. "Also, the school said the former is already taken." She seems a bit glum about that last comment. Maybe she did want to have that name for her club?

"Irregardless, we are in need of worthy members. Are you interested in joining?" She asks.

"Come on man! This is so cool! We'll get to hang out, and learn all sorts of cool stuff-maybe even learn about the mysterious powers I have. Sorry, "we" have!"Mrinthon leans in excited.

What do you do?
[ ] Join the Mystery Investigation Club (You cannot join multiple clubs without permission from the staff. Joining a club will eat up your free time, but also unlock special quests and events. You also automatically gain level 1 social links with all members)
[ ] Decline for now, see what the other clubs are like first

Fall Semester: Intro to OVAs
[ ]"Could someone rescue me from this pit of crazy? Anybody?"
[ ] Join the Mystery Investigation club
"Blood brother? Past lives?" You look around frantically for aid. "Could someone rescue me from this pit of crazy? Anybody?"

"It's futile." Miyara notes. "He never stops."

"We're gonna hang out all the time dark soul brother!" Mrinthon laughs.

With a grunt you push him off you.

Further detail has been added to your social link with Mrinthon. It now reads:
Mrinthon Darkblade/Will Stubbs-Level 1: He's very clingy

"Anyway," You smile at the pair. "I'd be happy to join your club!"

"Hooray!" Mrinthon jumps up with glee. "Welcome to the Mystery Investigation club!"

"It's a pleasure to have you as a member Toryauna-san." She bows to you respectfully. "As a welcoming gift, please accept my Jade Magnifying Glass." The magnifying glass floats to your hand.

You look at the magnifying glass closer. It's handle is made of green jade, and the glass shines with a faint green glow.

"For an amateur detective, a constant stumbling block one faces during investigations is when a witness or suspect conceals information from you. Wielding this magnifying glass you will be able to see the presence of a hidden secret, and how deeply they are trying to hide it, when the topic comes up in conversation. They appear in the form of locks over their psyche."

"Psyche locks if you will." Mrinthon offers.

"OBJECTION!" Miyara says with surprising fervour. "I mean, I've never heard that term before, I have no idea what happened to Pearl Fay, no further comment, please speak to my lawyer." She regains her composure.

"However, just because you are aware of the secret, does not mean you know what it is. You need to investigate or probe deeper to discover what the secret is. The more clues you uncover, the more locks you will be able to break. If you break them all, the person will reveal the secret-or at least enough information for you to figure it out." Miyara notes.

"Wow, that's very handy." You note. It's probably even useful outside of investigations, when you're trying to get to know someone. "You sure I can have this?"

"I have long grown past the need for such a tool." Miyara states as a matter of fact.

Your report sheet rustles again as it adjusts itself.

You are now a member of The Mystery Investigation Club. Congratulations!
Your club currently has 3/5 minimum members. Current President of the club is Miyara Chikuma.
If your club does not have a minimum of 5 members within 3 weeks, it will be disbanded.

You have gained a Social Link Level 1 with Miyara Chikuma.
Unlock new special friend bonus: Jade Magnifying Glass
This glass allows the holder to detect when someone they speak to is concealing a secret, and the severity of the secret. If you investigate and confront the individual with evidence, clues or the right incentive, they will reveal this secret.

The sound of a bell ringing in the distance goes off.

"We need to head to class!" Mrinthon runs to the circle where you had come from. "Magic portal don't fail me now!" He jumps headfirst at the portal…and bangs his face into the ground.

"Will you forgot your barrier seal remember?" Miyara notes. "You have to wait for me to open it for you."

"Owww! My nose!" Will's eyes go teary, from the pain.

"Good thing you carry a lot of bandages." Miyara notes.

What kind of club did I just join? You think to yourself.

The three of you arrive in class just in time. Miyara and Mrinthon both take seats near the back next to each other.

"Hey Tori!" You say as you take your seat next to your exposition laden friend, Sue Torial.

"Good to see you too." She says with a smile.

"It feels like ages since I last saw you." You note bashfully.

"Yeah well don't expect an apology from the big guy." She mutters.

"Did you say something?" You ask.

"I said I feel the same way big guy!" She smiled warmly. "Oh look, a distraction!"

"Alright class," Your homeroom teacher Professor Henderson claps his hands together to get attention.

"Today is the class I'm sure many of you have been waiting for. Today is the day you'll be entering and applying for your first anime!" The class begins to cheer loudly.

"I will destroy any who stands in my way!" The armored boy lifts up a spear to the sky. "I will be the number one protagonist this season!"

"You don't stand a baka chance in baka hell baka!" The purple haired girl with twin tails shouts.

"Like any of you pathetic fools have a chance!" The regal woman from before announces. "The line for my harem starts here-you can all wait while I take the anime role for myself."

"Shows what you know!" The multi-haired card collector notes. "My grandfather's Hearthstone account has no pathetic cards!"

"Shizukani shite kudasai!" Mr Henderson yells, as all the attention turned back to him. "Oh excuse me, I don't know where that came from Yes you do Mofo, Sensei is still alive in here!" He coughs, before pulling out two white boxes from his desk.

"Today you will be competing for a chance to be in an OVA, rather than an anime series." Suddenly all the enthusiasm in the room dissipated.

"An OVA? You might as well ask us to perform erotica." Ochanomizu notes.

"What's the problem with OVAs?" You whisper to Tori.

"OVAs, or Original Video Animations, are direct to home animated programs." Tori begins. "Unlike normal Anime, they don't usually appear on the air and thus don't count when determining best boy or girl in anime. Additionally, barring exceptions, they are rarely longer than one episode of 30 minutes. There is little prestige for being in one, and it does little to raise your profile, as they mostly exist to promote a manga or light novel rather than tell a complete story."

"Come on now kids!" Mr Henderson said trying to keep up morale. "This is still good practice for understanding how to behave in an Anime, even though less people will probably see it. In fact that's a positive-it's a good opportunity to make mistakes and learn from them!" Despite his efforts, most of the class remained quiet.

"Come on, let's have a volunteer! Anyone?" Mr Henderson looks around, but there's no response.

"Oops." Tori notes, as her pencil falls on the floor, rolling over to yourside of the desk. "Could you get that for me?"

"Sure." You reach over, and grab the pencil, holding it up.

"Ah a volunteer!" You glance around to see who Mr Henderson is pointing at, when you realise he's looking at you. You turn to see Tori smiling warmly at you, with a glint of mischief in her eye.

"Top 10 Anime Betrayals..." You mutter as you walk to Mr Henderson.

"Now, here are the two OVAs available to us. Please select the one you wish to go with." You look at the white boxes and realise they have turned into VHS cases, with a synopsis of two different anime on them.

"Great choice!" Professor Henderson puts the other OVA away. "Now, since it looks like we won't be getting any more volunteers," he glares at the class who all avoid his gaze.

"Why don't you pick your partner for this anime? They will take the opposite role of you, so if you are protagonist, they will be antagonist and vice versa."

"But how will we decide who gets what role?" You ask.

"Well, we'll do it as if this was a proper anime series. The one whose stats and traits more closely align with what the series is looking for will get first choice of whether protagonist or antagonist."
Knowing this crowd, you realise most would probably want to be protagonist if they get the choice.

"So, who do you pick?" You glance at the class.

You only know the stats of one person-Tori. Jad hasn't gotten back to you yet with Ochanomizu Takura's stats yet. Anyone else would be a crapshoot.

You could pick someone whose name you know-maybe one of your clubmates? Or perhaps this is a chance to pick one of the people whose been making noise and you haven't learned the name of. Or you could just randomly pick one.

[ ] I choose my partner to be…
-[ ] Darkblade, The bandaged Chuunibyou/wielder of incredible power

[ ] Randomly decide (GM rolls a d20)

You might notice that some of the images might be different than they were 7 months ago. That's because I did change them, to be better suited to what I envisioned originally. I've also fixed the cast list with the new images if you want to see them there, instead of clicking the link.

Also this will be a block vote, so partner and anime can match up. Good luck!
