Along Came a Spider or How to be a Hero(Spider-Man/Worm)

[X] Did so. I wanted to be around when the girl woke up anyway, and it could be a good way to get to know the locals.

...Huh. How many heroes in the Wormverse actually do the spandex thing? How many of them do it well?

@Halpo133 is there a reason you went with the fanon 'Taylor is in the locker for an absurd amount of time'?

Im actually quite enjoying this, though im curious on what your update schedule for this is goingnto be. Is there a specific time you count the votes and put out an update or is it a more whenever you feel the times right?

[x] Got out of there. Me and authority don't tend to see eye to eye.

"You know how it is. Guy in tights and boys in blues don't mix. Let's all save ourselves some trouble."

Welp, if we went to save her, might as well do the whole dealio.

Peter showed up there just before she was let out by the janitor and I didn't remember exactly what time she was shoved into her locker, so I chose to think it was toward the end of the school-day. She was still only in there for about 3 hours, but it was 3 hours at the end of the school day. As I've said in my other quest my memory isn't that great, so details slip my mind.

I would like to take a moment to just, you know, point out that we don't exactly have a ready story on how we know something funky was going on at that place.

We might be able to claim that our danger sense sometimes and unreliably points out other people in danger. It would be very hard to disprove. Until we say it in front of Armsmaster of course...

The bigger issue is that we might want to think about how much info we are going to drop about our mission and how we got here.

Blame Madam Web (and silently pray for her forgiveness) Apparently there are some powers here very similar to Web. Say she something along the lines of a seer that interacts with all that are connected to some mystical mumbo jumbo regarding spiders (using, more or less those exact words)

We were technically warned, and Web does at times warn us... it's a lie of omission... but it has rings of truth... that we couldn't pass off for the life of us... but still.

Hmmm... Connecting taylor to spiders using that info would be bad, partially outing her in the very least.

Eh. We were seen swinging across town so we'll probably need to account for that.

If we got really lucky and picked up trigger event talk, maybe we could say we were perched in Winslow, were knocked out by the trigger vision, and then tore through the school looking for the person who triggered.

We may even pass Taylor off as a second generation trigger off our power with a different manifestation. We're a human spider, she controls spiders. If she got her canon power. Or triggered at all.

Otherwise....yeah, hard to explain. Especially without being outed by lies, or if we ended up making a clear path towards or looking for Winslow.

Maybe just go, "Can't say?" Sure, we're obviously hiding something, and we're blatantly stonewalling their questions, but we're being honest about it. In some ways that's better than trying to hide our motives.

Or say we had a tip Taylor triggered and immediately went after her. And we won't reveal our source.

Bonus point(?), we get a head start on the Coil plotline as he plots to discover and kidnap our source.

Hrm... that last one works... just add in that we don't know how to contact our source, and that they only do so when something of import happens, which don't become clear for a long, long time...

Why bother making things complicated with the last part? It just muddles things up and makes them ask, "Okay, so what's special about this incident?"

Just as a side note, and not saying this is the best choice, or worst, or anything. Like any other choice it has advantages and drawbacks. But it amuses me that nobody has even thought of telling the truth. Not like Earth Bet is completely lacking knowledge about other worlds and dimensional travelers.

....Fair enough. Proving that is gonna be a fair bit harder though. And means we would have to work with the system to get them to believe us. If we start bucking the system they'll just bury and ignore us, in favor of concerns that are most definitely real and giving them trouble right now.

Well. Maybe Cauldron would pick us up, but honestly, barring PtV fiat I cannot see this ending well.

So why is she in the locker then? The tampons had been rotting in there over winter break, so they would have been in there at the start of the day, so she didn't use (or even to to) the locker then. Or lunch. Why would she only use it at the end of the day?

Edit: then there is the fact that they shoved her in there at the end of the day. The janitor didn't do anything about the obvious smell all day, there would be no reason to think he would do anything later. So they obviously wanted her in there over night.

If we claim we know a precognitive who can predict trigger events we are going to get grabbed by Cauldron so hard its not even funny. I mean that is one of the major limits Contessa has. Same if we are honest about our mission here. Of course we don't know that IC.

We have parahuman powers without the requisite in-universe parahuman brain parts. That's probably help, at least.

How hard is it to actually detect those again? I can't remember.

I mean yeah, it helps, but our abilities could also potentially be explained by a sufficiently powerful tinker. Like Bonesaw.

And having tinker-esque abilities without being a parahuman....Teacher or a similar powerset is also an explanation. And does not require a source of non-human powers.
