Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 6: Fatal Fires Flagrantly Fry Frantic Friends, Family

Again, could I interest people in considering this?

[] "We could hear Behemoth tearing through the city, but we were too disorganized and reeling to do anything. Weaver was there, though, and within only a few minutes we had rallied and teleported to that High School for a last stand."
-[] Stunt: Allocate all available Blasters, Movers and Brutes to harass and distract Behemoth. Using Shard of Perfect Administration and bug clones, have the Blasters and Movers coordinate their efforts to minimize cape casualties. When Behemoth is off balance or focusing on attacking the Blasters and Movers, plan to have the Brutes strike at Behemoth to topple him. Give orders to a number of the remaining teleporters to keep watch over the Brutes and Behemoth, 'porting out any brutes that he turns his attention towards.
-[] Stunt: Allocate all available Tinkers and Shakers to assist Iris with any requests for fortification while requesting that Iris make use of these additional resources for his defense efforts. Have any remaining teleporters bodyguard the Thinkers assisting in coordinating the battle, ready to teleport them to a safer location should Behemoth begin showing hostile intent towards them.

Then I think I prefer jinnt's vote since it includes the second monster showing up and actually doing something about it in a stunt.

I think as the vote stands though 'high school' has a slight lead with the wasteful and poorly timed Exaltation stunts in the lead there. On the other hand...it wouldn't take a lot of transfer votes to a particular pair of stunts in 'other monster' get that action and the particular pair of stunts to win (since the sub-votes for that action appear more spread out).
Did you see I updated my option to read as this?

Guys, now is NOT THE TIME to even be considering subjects as potential Exalts, especially with our insane amounts of Clarity skewing our actions and responses. Focus on Behemoth, then look into possible exalts among the survivors when it's all done and we're licking our wounds afterwards.

The only possible exception being if someone close to Taylor is mortally wounded and will die unless they are Exalted, and losing them would destabilize Taylor. Yes, a few close associates were critically wounded, but they've been stabilized. All they'll need is a good tinker with some free time and BAM awesome prosthetics.

[X] "Even though we were barely organized, we still needed to stop the monster from tearing through the city like it was his playground. After only a few seconds of rest, everyone standing was teleported back into the fray. We didn't expect to see two monsters, though..."

-[x] Fill the battlefield with swarm clones and keep supporting effective capes with IEU while you analyze the second monster and try to communicate with it.

looks like that's the plan we're gonna go with I guess. I just pray to GOD whatever the 2nd monster is it's on our side.

Although I can't quite put it past Grom to just drop a Reaper on us and post a giant trollface as he brings this quest to a sudden screeching end. As much as it would suck it would actually be kind of funny.

yeah, but we can go poke through the triage tent AFTER the battle. Lets save our stunts for killing the endbringer.

yes, i said kill. As nasty as the casualty list has been so far this is LIGHT when it comes to a Behemoth attack. With a little luck and some good planning we mmight actually be able to put this bastard down.

The only way Behemoth's dying here is if Scion shows up. Don't count on it.

Oh well, a 30 foot killing machine can dream.

Went back and changed my 2nd stunt to Hyper's since his point about Iris is valid.

Why are people trying to buy Athletics? Even factoring in our mobility and wound penalties we still have a pool of 5 which is sufficient. Stunts easily boosts that up to 7 (getting a two-die stunt is trivial with athletics because we're using flight to interact (ie, move around) with the scenery/environment. That's by definition a two-die stunt.) so all things considered getting another dot of Athletics should be low priority.

Catching up to the thread

For rolls, Taylor's War rolls directly saved the lives of 7 people (they went from Deceased to Down) and ensured 5 others got back into the fight without going Down at all.
Entropy deceased, AZ-24. Gallant down, AZ-24. Iron Falcon deceased, AZ-24. Penitent down, AZ-24. WCM deceased, AZ-24. Hew deceased, AZ-24. Leaping Chaos deceased, AZ-24. Silverstreak deceased, AZ-24. Vista down, AZ-24.
Picking the command center saved Vista!

Indeed. Exalting other Worm characters during this attack was never about adding more Alchemicals for this battle but for the battles yet to coming. This is perhaps the best time to collect said candidates from among the parahumans as there's plenty that are dead or dying. Asking someone who's dying if they'd like to have a second chance at life as being like her, they'd probably say yes. Ask a healthy person if they'd like to die to become reborn as some kind of robot being, most will hesitate.
Something like that. At our current levels of Clarity it's the Efficient thing to do. She'd probably get on it without the stunt's urging anyway, though quite possibly in a different way than we expect.

Also good catch there, vote changed to:

[ ] We could hear Behemoth tearing through the city, but we were too disorganized and reeling to do anything. Weaver was there, though, and within only a few minutes we had rallied and teleported to that High School for a last stand.
-[ ] Stunt: Analyze downed and recovered capes for compatibility with Exaltation and their health condition as they are evacuated to the high school. Prioritize those likely to die without intervention and those with higher degree of personal familiarity.
-[ ] Stunt: Allocate all available Tinkers and Shakers to fortify the high school before Behemoth arrives. Have any remaining teleporters bodyguard the Thinkers assisting in coordinating the battle, ready to teleport them to a safer location should Behemoth begin showing hostile intent towards them. Tecton will set up first to prevent, detect and counter any tunneling attacks.

Could it be that Regent was piloting Dannys body? They'd have had enough time for him to do so and it leaves no traces as long as Danny dies afterwards.

It's practically the same tactic they used against Shadow Stalker in canon.

And Regent is enough of a bastard to do something like this to people he doesn't care about even during an Endbringer attack.

anybody else flash back to the Blacklist episode a few weeks back where Red had the informant tied to a chair and doused in high proof vodka?

Lisa carefully sabotaging Coil's plans? Interesting character development.

OH THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!

*bang*

fun fact Z000, the actor who plays Red has been contracted to play the big bad in Avengers 2

Current Dodge pool is Dexterity [4] + Essence [3] + Dodge [0] = 7, halve and round up for 4. So no, an extra dot of Dodge won't help us immediately. However we won't get any training without purchasing the dot, and we might be able to purchase a specialty soon.

[X] Dodge
[X] War (Swarms )
[X] Awareness (Swarms )

Why do people want to kill most of the Brutes willing to come to Endbringer fights?

Behemoth will splatter them trivially.

And the competition is wasting a stunt to unnecessarily Exalt people...

Damn...it occurs to me that Taylor doesn't know about Noelle yet. So is the best tactical decision (from her view) the high school?
Yes.

Basically from her PoV the third option is to continue in a running battle with Behemoth in an attempt to slow him enough that Iris can finish what he's doing, and then Surprise Echidna(who just found out Trickster is Extra Crispy), any capes who're still mobile will help. High cape losses predicted, especially if Echidna goes on a rampage and starts nomming capes we need to mass produce, or if Lung gets Even Bigger when he wakes up.

The second option is to actually get some preparation done and fight from a prepared position(I have to say, bringing Tecton in is inspired, why didn't I think of that for the command center before), with treatment done, the wounded gotten out of the way and the capes organized to present maximum fire. Drawback is it means Behemoth arrives sooner.

The first is too risky, because we've seen Behemoth wield Alexandria as a shovel and Lung as a bowling ball. Eidolon's gone It's Full Of Stars, Dauntless is dead, Armsmaster and Clockblocker are out of commission while Panacea is in shock from losing her sister. We simply lack the kind of firepower to do anything to him that way..

All three options basically have the civilians fucked, we're running low on Movers if this keeps up, and they weren't even making a dent in the evacuation previously.
